My new job doesn't allow artificial nails, and of course I've had gel on my nails for a year now, so I needed to get that off at the last minute without paying an arm and a leg. I also wanted to get a shellac manicure after since I knew my nails would be weak. I called ahead and asked if they took walk-ins (yes) and if I could come by in 20 minutes (yes). When I got there, I explained what I needed done. The woman who greeted me originally told me that the shellac wouldn't stick to the soft nails (apparently people in the past have had a lot of problems with it) but then after talking to someone, found out that there was a binder/primer (this was how it was explained to me) that they could use. I sat soaking my nails in acetone for 40 minutes, which was unpleasant but made the removal of the gel painless (I was afraid they'd rip them off like when they're putting on a new set). The woman who did my manicure kept disappearing while the shellac was curing under the UV light, which was really my only complaint. My nails came out great and have been lasting for over a week now (I have a hand-intensive job in a lab so this is impressive). Best part was this only cost me $25. I will definitely go back. One warning: parking was a nightmare. I'm from the area, so I should have anticipated this, but I still drove around for 15 minutes trying to find street parking. read more

Lynn's is so clean and the ambiance is great and as far as nail techs... Anne is my go-to-gal... I love my Annie Fannie ;-) She's the best!!! She's patient, has a wondrous sense of humor, easy to talk to- never feels like she's being fake just for the sake of business- she really listens and always remembers what you tell her. What takes the cake is that she's good at what she does... I never been a big fan of my feet, but after going to Anne for pedis, I love showing my feet off to EVERYONE. She listens to what I want and remembers exactly how I like my toe nails shaped, and gives me the perfect french pedi every single time... it's so relaxing to just get in that chair and know that your nail tech already knows exactly what your expecting... Oh and the greatest thing about my Annie Fannie... she never gets upset or frustrated with you if you need her to change or fix something... matter of fact I've never even seen this woman upset! I checked Yelp a week ago for a nail salon in this neighborhood because I needed somewhere to go for an hour before picking my roommate up from a class down the street. I was so glad to find this place and check it out! I went to Anne for a basic manicure and she did an amazing job - very thorough and did not nick me with the tools or anything like that. She was very friendly and chatty during the appointment. If I had time, I would have gotten their $30 mani/pedi deal that includes a free design. My roommate went there for one after seeing my nails and the design on her nails was really cute. I also got my eyebrows waxed which was pretty cheap (only $7) and for the first time, I didn't break out badly the day after a wax. This alone is worth trip over there. I haven't had a manicure or pedicure in... way to long. Usually I just do it myself. Yesterday, after looking on Yelp for a good, reputable deal in the Dorchester area, I chose Lynn's. I made an appointment the night before, but I don't think that was necessary. Swan (not sure if that's how you spell it) did a great job. I got the $30 deal for a manicure and pedicure. I got there at 10:10 am and left at about 11:30 - it seemed like the right amount of time for me. The nail polish I had her use was my own - they have a pretty bright selection as most nail places do which wasn't really what I was looking for. I really felt like I didn't have to do anything at all - she led me around and moved me when she needed to. At one point, when getting up from the pedicure station the towel that was on my lap fell on the floor and hit my toe. She immediately ran over to fix that nail, even though it was my fault. Only cons - She did ask if I wanted "square" nails but they are pretty sharp on the edges. She filed a bit, but could have softened them up a tad. Also, I'm not really the type of person that would get any designs so did not ask about that option, but no one asked me about it either. There was a sign, though - it did say something about a paraffin treatment which was not offered either. They take credit cards, but not tips on credit cards. First let me be clear - this is somewhere I've gone for over decade and I whole-heartedly understand that things are different due to Covid-19. Lynn herself does do an amazing job - however the "acting owner/manager" is was so rude and unprofessional that I will definitely not be returning. I called three hours ahead to schedule an appointment for a full-set & pedicure for myself as well as a manicure for my daughter. I SPECIFICALLY asked when calling to book if it was okay for her to come - I even verified the pricing. When we arrived after an HOUR drive they told me they would not be able to see me because I had my daughter. Unbelievable. Very disappointed in the customer service. Suggestion? I've been wanting to try eyelash extensions for a while now, but I was scared off by the prices I've seen at the high-end places in the Boston/Cambridge area ($200+). A friend of mine recommended Lynn's Nails to get eyelash extensions, because she gets hers done here pretty often and pays only $50. I called Lynn's on Sunday morning and was able to get an appointment for that same afternoon with Jenny. My appointment was for 12:30PM but I arrived around 12:15PM. I was quickly greeted, told to have a seat, and wait. I waited like 45 minutes. I guess Jenny was in the middle of a mani/pedi -- but why would she even take that client in knowing she had an appointment with another client? That was a major turn off. Once she took me into the room, she told me to lay down, and took off any makeup I had on my eyes. She then asked me if I wanted the eyelashes natural looking or long, but I let her know that it was my first time and I was unsure of what to try. She didn't say anything else, she just went to work. That was another turn off... I feel like it would have been more professional for her to explain what she was doing as she went along considering it was my first time doing this. Also, she did not tell me how to care for the eyelashes, she just said to "come back in 2-4 weeks for touch up, depending on how long they last." The procedure took about an hour and a half. Anyway, I'll be honest... the outcome was fabulous. They look great! I went to Lynn's nails for a manicure and pedicure for the first time. As soon as she rubbed the foot file on my foot with barely a stroke a whole pile of strangers dead skin fell out. I was so disgusted. Their tools are not clean and there was finger nail clippings all over the towel where she laid my hands to begin my manicure. I haven't written a review in a long time but felt it necessary to sit down and tell y'all about my experience here yesterday morning. I'm shocked that this place has 4 stars right now, because this was my second poor experience here. My friend, whom I'd not seen in ages and I went in on a Sunday morning. It was slow and we asked for pedis, picked our color and they asked us to come upstairs (this place is laid out with 2 floors both with nail and pedi stations). When we walked upstairs there were 3 chairs, one with a guy who was very familiar and chatting with the ladies in the center chair. They started drawing the water on either sides of the guy, so I asked if we could go downstairs to the 2 free chairs downstairs. They all (5 women) spoke among each other and then said that he'll be done in 5 mins (I'm guessing they didn't want to break up the little party to go downstairs). Ok, I'll wait while you start on my friend. I sit in a chair near my friend as she is started on her and chatted. Ok, this is where it gets weird.. the guy starts typing into his iphone and it gets translated back in Vietnamese, he shows the ladies his phone and they all start laughing. Ahhhh.. okay. Did I just step back to 5th grade? He continues this stealth maneuver a few times when one lady announces to me that it's going to be another 10 mins. on the guy. My friend and I look at each other with wide eyes of disbelief! WOW! About 15 minutes later, the guy is done and her gets up to get his manicure (I know), she starts washing out the tub and asks me to come and sit.. I'm all set, thanks! This is when the glaring begins, even from the white dude with the fancy iphone translater. My friend opts not to sit and dry so we can leave this fun spot. We are headed downstairs to pay when one girl darts past us to announce "20 dollar!" in front of the door! Holy SH*T!! Yep, I know, my friend is horrified. Jenny does my lashes. She is amazing. The last for about 2 weeks and I workout/shower multiple times in a day so they have to hold up to the constant sweat and water. She is detailed oriented and VERY sweet. She wants you to love them and cares about her customers. I continue to go back. WORST nail salon I've ever been too. she took 25 MINUTES to do my acrylics first of all they came out awful I got the French and the part that is suppose to be white was yellow so many people commented on my nails and said how bad they looked. After the 3rd person commented without me saying anything I decided to call the salon and complain. I simply asked for my money back and they refused. they said that the manicurist make commission which I completly understand but that's not my problem my nails came out terrible. She was very rough when scrubbing my feet, forceful when placing my feet on the foot rest, and got upset when I asked her if she could use gel on one of my toenails. I believe Lynns lashes would have given me the two weeks most places advertise before needing a fill, but she used SO MUCH glue my eyes were burning + watering during the application. The following days it felt as through my lash line and the extensions were fused into a hard strip. Anytime my lashes hit my shirt while putting it on I felt as tho my whole row of lashes would rip off. It was crazy. I went back a week later to have them removed and that experience was almost as traumatic if not more. She didn't wait long enough for the remover to set in and begin plucking my lashes off before it was time!!! I was even asking her to stop and wait which she did but golly the damage had already been done. The removal was $10 and I really shouldn't even had paid that. SMH The thing about lash extensions is that... most of the time on 1st glance, they look great!!! Most of these lash techs can make them look good. But after trying so many people I've found that how long they last and application is just as important. I won't be going back to Lynns. read more

Lynn's is my go-to nail salon. Everything I've gotten here is awesome. Lily is really great. The place was renovated a year or two ago and is still very clean and pretty. I've had lots of great mani/pedi's from here. It could be better by: allowing you to tip on the credit card (I always forget cash), and being consistent. I have been going to Lynn Nails for so so many years, not sure what's going on with Anne, however the last few times I have gone, I have totally been unsatisfied with her service. She rushes, and expects u to accept how she does or does not professionally do pedicure. She seems to get upset when you ask to cut nails shorter or can you take the visible skin off the heal. Everything is my license, we'll I'm to assume everyone in their has a license, and I notice them for filling steps that Anne neglects in rushing. If this is the career path you have chosen then please try to be professional at it!. I normally give her $5 tip even if I'm not satisfied, but dah who does that??? I've been here a few times with my friends, as there is no other option than ManiQ, but my friends insist that we come here, because it is always a well done job for them. Every time I've gone, I've had horrible quality. One time when I went I had asked for regular, but the nail technician insisted that I get gel. She wouldn't stop mentioning gel while I was getting my manicure done, so I finally gave in to shut her up. I had picked a midnight blue for my nail color, but she ended up picking a bright blue. They literally rush you at Lynn's. My next experience, which was last weekend, left me really pissed off. My gal pals and I had gotten ps and Lynn's, being right next to PS, we were like "let's get our nails done!". So we walked in, no wait. I picked out my color, a purple/grey (very pretty btw). Everything is happy go lucky while I'm waited to be sat. I go with a female technician to the table, and then she moves me again. And again. She moved me three times before I was finally sat down. Ok not a big deal. So the lady who moved me originally had gone to the back (which I'm assuming was her break), and I end up with a guy technician. Ok great! I'm finally getting my nails done. The manicure itself wasn't even 7 minutes. He didn't shape my nails, and didn't do my cuticles. Ok what can I do? I just want to get out of here. I go wash my hands and then he starts applying the nail polish. I wanted a heart design (which I will put pics in of), because I love hearts lol. Anyways so he finally finishes the painting of the nail and then he puts the top coat on. I had told him earlier I wanted a heart, but then my friend right next to me reminded him(I'm really shy so I rarely speak up). So after the topcoat, he takes a white nail pen and does an uPSIDE DOWN HEART. I can't even explain it. Throughout the week, people are like: did you do your nails yourself? I shouldn't be getting that, sir male technician. Also he asked my friends (who were right next to me) who was paying.. Multiple times. I obviously was going to be paying as I am an independent 16 year old girl with a job. Anyways I was finished 20 minutes before my friends were, and they both had gotten regular as well. I came here on a whim because it's down the street from work and I was getting on a plane in 12 hours and needed my nails done ASAP. SO glad I did. Vanna (sp?) was my nail tech. The pedicure ($20) survived a 3-week European-sightseeing-in-flip-flops-walk-10-miles-a-day "vacation" and then some. For my nails I opted for the Shellac manicure ($20!!!) which lasted for 3 weeks as well. Highly recommend! read more
