It is located right near South Shore Taco Guy (also a cute spot) and Schooners. The store is meticulous: clean, very stylish, well organized and comfy. The owner has a solid eye for style and it comes thru even in how cool she decorated it. The store has a good variety of consigned clothing, shoes/sneakers and handbags. The sizes run the gamete (I saw from XS to 18) and the brands range from better mall brands like Gap to more exclusive designers. I tried on 2 pairs of jeans and while they didn't fit, I would definitely come back. The clothes were very stylish and were in excellent/ like new condition and were all ironed or wrinkle-free (pet peeve is I hate when the I go thrifting and the clothes are displayed super wrinkly). Love supporting awesome independent businesses like this! Cassie could not have been more welcoming/ kinder!

I finally decided to go inside because I heard they'd be carrying a line that I like, and I come to find out that they carry several! I bought two simply GORGEOUS scarves that were actually priced lower than what I initially expected. A lot of the reviews of this place just do not do it justice! Let's clear it up. Is this boutique "too expensive"? NO! It's only too expensive if you're not familiar with the brands that it carries. These pieces are not overpriced or marked high beyond other retailers. Additionally, I saw at least one brand that's very hard to find in the US. The simple fact that I would be able to try on pieces from that brand without having to buy them up front and pay for shipping from Europe is a huge positive. Is the store "too cramped"? Hardly. It's a small store, but they have a very clean, beautiful layout. I was in there with two staff, a delivery guy, and probably four other shoppers, and I still had plenty room to be off in my own little world. I really enjoyed the ambiance of the store. Are the employees "rude and unfriendly"? Not at all!! My goodness. Quite the opposite. One woman behind the desk greeted me immediately and asked if I needed anything, another smiled at me, and I made conversation later (twice) and was met with receptive faces and eager replies both times. One of the women was less talkative, but she was busy and I wasn't talking with her directly. She did smile and look up and even laugh, though. She was far from rude. Basically, this is a lovely store, and you've probably got to be pretty rude yourself to think that the employees are rude. Additionally, if you're out of touch with the brands or the prices of pieces like what's carried at Mint Julep, you might think it's overpriced, but it's really not.

So yeah, they cram it full of cute stuff so there's a lot of selection but I don't think I have even made it to the back of this incredibly tiny store yet because I feel like the clothing is going to cave in on me. Actually, I think that may be the reason I have such negative feelings about this store. Then there's pricing. Ha. Ridiculous. Really. Ridiculous. Even their accessories are way overpriced for what they are. Also, there's a cute bead shop down the way that I frequent - some of the jewelry here (all handmade, I suppose) was made with components they sell at the bead shop a few doors away. Yeah, and marked up like 80 bazillion percent. Tacky. Also, the clothes are adorable. But I have tits. Their stuff is cut to fit 12 year olds or rich Brookline women with bodies like 12 year olds. And yes, most of the girls who I see shopping there are the college-aged, not quite done with puberty, daddy pays for everything crowd. Don't know that I would want to dress like them even if I could. It's like a preppier version of Anthropologie without the charm.

I went to the wedding in the suit and realized upon getting home that I had sat on something that had caught and created rips in the seat of the pants. Knowing that this was my fault, they gave me another set of the pants. Seriously??? In this day and age??? Taking a chance, I called the Chestnut Hill location and talked to Joe, who was filling in at the location. Let me tell you, for someone who is in full panic mode to talk to someone as knowledgeable, calm and willing to help was a God send. Joe took the time to listen to what I needed. He helped me with finding something that would work for the groomsmen and went above and beyond to make getting them shipped to me easy. I also spoke with Tim, who was friendly, knowledgeable and a tremendous help. Today, retailers of any size seem to be so focused on the amount of the sale to increase profit, they forget about what the customer actual needs. Milton's is not like that in my experience. They helped a guy from over 1100 miles away that is only going to spend $300 dollars like he was the most important customer. Thank you Joe and Tim, I appreciate more than you.

They sell an array of very reasonably priced goods: clothes, outerwear, purses, totes, jewelry, knick-knacks. I think it would be pretty easy to find something pretty and fun for people on the average holiday shopping list. There are plenty of gift ideas for stocking stuffers too as well as items that might be nice as hostess gifts. I bought two "evil eye" necklaces here...one for me and one as a gift. The woman running the store was a sweetheart, chatting with us and offering help. They do gift wrapping here which is a plus. I plan to return next week to see if they have any additional items that might help me tick off a couple of more things on my holiday shopping list. It is definitely worth a visit.
