I came in hoping to buy a few suits. You'd think a high-end haberdasher would greet a customer within a reasonable amount of time and ask if he needed anything or had any questions, even if that employee was tied up with another customer or was in the middle of something. Not these guys. In ten minutes, I wasn't acknowledged once (two of the employees did look at my shoes as they walked by). Exasperated at such a basic customer service misstep, I finally got up and left. As I walked out, they said they thought I was waiting for someone. Yea: I was waiting for them. read more

I wish I knew about this place a long time ago. When I buy a suit or a really nice piece of clothing, here's what I want to happen. I want the staff to be knowledgeable and understand the artistry in what they are selling. I love it when the staff is comfortable talking to people and not just looking to make a sale, but to find the right thing for the customer. To understand what different cloths, dyes, and cuts are and what makes them special. Mr. Sid does all of these things and much more. The store is beautify setup in a way that each section almost seems to tell it's own story. The lighting is great, and it smells nice too. It's very spacious while not being overwhelming, and the overall feeling of the place was relaxed. It's a place you could spend a lot of time in exploring. Downstairs is a whole hair salon, and a nice room with a pool table too, really cool! I didn't end up purchasing anything that day just because I was looking around, but I'm positive I'll be back. I can honestly say I've never seen a store like this anywhere. And as far as nice clothing goes, this is the place to get it. It's really something to experience. read more

Although I use the salon down stairs, which surprisingly, always consistent in service and product. I occasionally stroll thru the top floor. Everything you need as a man, a one stop shop. Always a nice store. A lot of nice items and everything you need from a men's store. They have a full bar, too, for those shopping more in depth :) We haven't dealt with many salesmen, but everyone always seems nice and willing to help. Parking isn't the best, only metered parking outside or metered lot across the street. It isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for... so this is not a negative to me. read more

Phenomenal Experience The entire staff at Mr. Sid go above and beyond. Earlier this year they came to my rescue by compiling a gorgeous Nantucket Elopement ensemble. They not only created a fantastic experience (advice, bourbon, haircut and shave), they also turned around tailoring on the entire outfit the same day. I was truly blown away. My dad and I went to Mr.Sid after hearing about their custom made suits. The experience was great from the beginning, we were greeted immediately upon walking in and the sales staff was extremely helpful. We loved the clothes that we found there. They spent a lot of time with us helping us figure out what we wanted and we found a beautiful blue striped silk shirt. Mr. Sid does a good job with formal wear for older men, I don't think that it is particularly fashion forward but it has all the basics that a man would need in his wardrobe. There is street parking near the store and it's easy to snag a spot. read more

Although I was greeted, it was rather slow, and no-one asked what I was looking for, said the usual 'please let me know if you need anything' or if I needed any help (I was looking for something specific). After searching high and low for a black bow tie that wasn't a total bore and finding none in Boston proper, suddenly a plethora of them unfolded at Mr. Sid (and all with matching braces, if that's your thing)! Can't wait to explore the store further. They are so kind, the store is so handsome (even as they are changing things up), they carry Bois 1920 cologne, have a full bar and didn't bat an eye when I made it clear that I was shopping for my wife with a capital W. (Hey, you never know.) I mentioned that we were in the market for either a tailored or MTM suit for her in the near future, and they seemed really excited to work with us on that front. Can't wait for the barbershop situation to open up downstairs - it's so exciting! Side note: They throw cool fundraising events like the Casino Royale one being hosted there later this month. I was not at all impressed by Mr Sid. Some of the stuff is very nice but the majority of the clothing is very middle of the road and dull. I thought the place looked nice but seemed empty. I was wondering if Mr Sid is going out of business it had that kind of look to it. The prices are high and I was more or less ignored by the sales staff. I was there to buy something to wear to a funeral and frankly this is the place for funeral clothes. A really nice store, great clothing lines, and excellent service greeted me on my first visit to Mr. Sid. I was helped by Barry, one of the owners. They obviously have a vision and know their customers. There is nothing "cheap" here, and if your budget requires "cheap" this isn't where to shop. I am young professional who went to Mr. Sid based on the recommendation of one of my older co-workers. I was helped by the salesperson Josh and picked out 5 ESQ. brand shirts made to measure. When I left, I asked him how much it would cost, and he wasn't able to give me a definitive number. Uhhhh, what? Ok fine. I guess it would be hard to pin down the exact number because all the shirts are custom made (I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here). I then had to wait two months for my shirts to arrive. I don't know what the hell took them so long, but when I called to ask about their status, Josh never called me back. Really bad customer service. I don't know what other people are talking about but I felt extremely uncomfortable both times I walked in the store. Josh seemed like he was more interested in helping other customers and kept looking around and seemed disinterested in my purchases. I spent over $1,000 on FIVE BUTTON DOWN SHIRTS and wasn't given a heads up until I got the bill. Very frustrating experience from top to bottom. The shirts look good but weren't worth the price/headache. I'll be ordering from more modern websites in the future. read more
