It would not be out of place in the South End. The walls were full of art from a local photographer that was amazing, but I don't have $325 to drop on a 24 x 8 inch panel right now. It's definitely one of the best-smelling stores I have ever been to, but the most expensive candle was $48, not two bills. However, there was a pretty sizeable selection of "reasonably priced" items, like $24 scarves, wine racks on sale, little foodstuff items, hair accessories. I ended up picking up two $12 leather-and-studded headbands which were cool. It's definitely the kind of place where you're either shopping for yourself or a woman whose taste you know really, really well. Because you're dealing with a home store with an independently-curated selection of stuff, the gifts aren't safely generic like Pottery Barn or Williams-Sonoma--I hope that makes sense. I really have a bias against indifferent customer service. So the only serious ding was that the woman behind the counter basically did not acknowledge or speak to me until I asked if I could put the headbands at the register while I shopped some more--she was sweet as could be and chatty after that. There was only one other customer in the store, who also got ignored until she made a purchase. I don't like feeling like I have to pay to get a hello out of someone. But I'll definitely be back again sometime the next time I'm in the nabe.

While she was finishing one I kept finding one beautiful thing after another while searching my brain for who I could give them to! I believe they were training a new person and as we walked by we were still not greeted (it did not bother us, unfortunately we are quite used to this in these suburban towns). We took our time browsing the store as they had a selection of baby related items towards the very back of the store that we found cute yet (albeit very expensive). We spent about 10 mins. As we were leaving we see one of the (presumably new) employee with green hair walk towards the section we were in. He went past us and awkwardly followed us without uttering a word, made us feel like shoplifters. We were deeply offended and and felt disgusted as we exited the store. Apparently we are not the only ones who experienced this, I attached a screenshot of a 56 year old woman who was also followed. This store really needs to reduce their hubris, there is literally nothing of great value to steal from in this store. An apology to this review would be nice, however we do not plan on returning ever and the lack of accountability based on other replies does not provide us with much hope. TLDR; we went in this store and without any verbal interaction, was followed by an awkward employee. We felt offended and disgusted. It's 2024 and I would hate to imagine what the chain of events would be, if we were of a darker skin color.
