We had a really disappointing experience working with Jill and Sam on the interior design or our house. The mark up/charge versus cost of furniture was really high. They spent a lot of the budget on fixtures and then all of the furniture/rugs is all bland grey. I would highly suggest looking at other options. read more

This place is part of a one-two punch (Michelle Wiley being the other) of great home stores in the south end. In a neighborhood that's got a plethora of decent home stores (Addo Novo, Lekker, Patch NYC, Garage Sale, etc...) this place stands out. I find the staff so helpful and nice and NOT pushy that I love going in there. This place is really nicely curated with a definite style (shabby chic minus the shabby). I can't recommend this place highly enough. Recently, I bought a small carafe here and immediately set it up in our guestroom when I got home. Only a few weeks later, I noticed a flaw in the glass. Without a receipt, I took it back. Before I could even finish explaining to them what happened, they offered to exchange it for another carafe. I was so happy. read more

I think I've been in here once every other month since it opened, and even though I can't afford half the shit in here, I adore poking around. One of my favorite things in my place came from Hudson. Dark green tinted glasses that now serve as tealight holders, and when lit, the patterns in the glass cast off the coolest and most romantic shadows. And it's puppy friendly, even though there are major breakables at every turn - a HUGE plus. I'll continue to come back again and again. read more

Very cute assortment of stuff. I especially liked the bamboo pens I saw when I was in here yesterday. My absolute favorite part of this store though is staring at the wall in the back covered with letters and photos from the 1920s and 1930s. I really liked reading this letter about this kid being accepted to Harvard College in 1927. The letter kept referring to everyone in the college as men (sure that was true back then but it's such a far cry from my 60% female class at BU). Staff was also pleasant and very helpful. Didn't see anything I couldn't live without but will definitely be back for browsing. Great place for gifts too! read more

After seeking out Reside (now gone!) and Lekker (pricey!) on the hunt for a small dresser and side table and coming out empty handed on both counts, my husband and I stumbled upon Hudson. I was pleasantly surprised by the furniture and home decor Hudson had to offer! While we still did not find the ever-elusive dresser and side table we were looking for, we did walk out with a candle, a set of placemats and a rug. There is a good mix of modern and vintage style. Also a great combination of large furniture (think couches and armchairs) along with small decorative items (framed art, pillows, throws, vases and the like). You even have free range of an array of gifty items - candles, soaps, lotions, shaving kits, soap dishes, etc. which makes this a good option for a last minute present for most any occasion. This is a "something for everyone" kind of place. While I didn't want to take it ALL home, I did enjoy perusing most of the items for sale, all of which I hadn't seen anywhere else before - points for being unique! The customer service was fabulous, with two female attendants in duty, both ready and willing to help us with whatever we needed. Not sure if they were afraid I was going to swipe some small items into my large bag or if they were just overly attentive, but every time I held onto an item for more than two minutes, they were on top of me asking if I'd like them to take it up to the register for me. I did, both times, but in the back of my mind, I kind of felt watched and I don't really like that. Anyways, that certainly didn't ruin my experience and for many people, it would probably be a plus. All in all, I enjoyed what Hudson had to offer and I enjoyed interacting with their friendly and helpful staff. I would most certainly go back and it's a good thing there isn't a place like this closer to home or I'd have a few dollars less in my bank account on the regular... They also explained to us that they shut down for a day or two and redo their entire inventory every season - I love that and it makes me want to go back!!! read more

I bought a massive sofa for my apartment through Hudson. The people are pretty awesome. Having bought a sofa before (from a different store) and upon getting it home finding out it was a totally different color, we felt the need to see the samples in our own home. Hudson let us take their massive fabric books with us for a few days loan. Awesome. Then we were worried that a sofa of the size we wanted wasn't going to fit in our apartment. So Hudson called their delivery people and had them measure our stairs, then told us what size sofa we could get. Also Awesome. When the sofa came, it turned out that I had ordered something just slightly too large. So Hudson referred us to a company that specializes in taking apart big furniture and putting it back together once it's in place. Just amazing. In short, buy things from these people. They'll make sure it all works out. read more

Their staff is knowledgeable about all the items on the floor, and they are always willings to let you take home their sample fabrics for upholstery, bedding, and more. Fantastic store! I bought a linen dress there as well as a few birthday gifts and it's now on my top five stores in Boston list. They have wonderfully unique gifts and the women that work there are very helpful. The only issue I had was that they didn't follow up on the delivery of my dress that was only supposed to take a few days. It wasn't even their fault.... This was once my favorite store, but quickly lost its appeal with unresponsive customer service (two requests for the price on a sofa w/no response) and a sales clerk who was rude to my child....guess she either doesn't have or like kids, but not cool. They lost my business forever. I was really bummed until I found an even better place in Wellesley (Carter Dayton) that sells a lot of the same lines (Hickory Chair, Visual Comfort) and they're super nice. read more

Wow, what a cool store. If I could afford anything in it that I liked I would give it 5 stars. Maybe when I'm older....and hit the lotto. I have no doubt that you will find something cool here to put in your home but you're looking at 125$ for very small items and at least several hundred dollars for anything substantial. This adorable shop in my favorite Boston neighborhood contains some of the most stylish and unique home accessories, decor and furnishings I have ever experienced. I almost always find something to adorn my home or lift my spirits here, even though I am not in the income bracket that enables me to afford the furniture and larger pieces. So, with that said, do keep in mind that no matter how excessive or limited your budget may be, there will certainly be something you can purchase at Hudson. I find Hudson is also a source of inspiration for me. I know I can pop in when I feel as if I need to find a sense of direction to freshen up my home environment. The sales staff are lovely, too...just the right balance of helpful friendliness without coming on too strongly or appearing pushy! Much LOVE for Hudson. read more

I for one, however, am not really into taking a chair that is no where near the 1000 mark, reupholstering with some cheap (yet beautiful) linen fabric, then selling it for 2250. What a wonderful store! A friend of mine is in the market for a large mirror, and Hudson was listed as a retailer of an Oly mirror she found online. We went in, and the woman working there (did not get her name) was knowledgeable, attentive, and extremely helpful. She was very honest, told my friend that the mirror was very expensive as she was pulling up the price, and once my friend said that was out of her price range and it was determined that Hudson had no other similar mirrors, she began suggesting other stores where we could continue the mirror hunt. We didn't buy anything from Hudson yesterday, but the woman's attitude ensured that we will return when we are ready to make other purchases. read more

Hudson Boston was a great online find for me. They have beautiful accessories and items to decorate your house with and they carry Pehr linens which are often hard to find! When I called to confirm my order with them via phone they were very friendly and had great customer service. I would definitely order from them again. read more

I love the merchandise here, just wish I could afford more of it. They do have great semi-annual sales where you can often get a great deal. One of my favorite spots in the South End for higher end gifts such as paper weights, ceramics and other unique small items. They tend to push their items when using their home decorating service,although, not shocking for a small, independent store. read more

This is one of my favorite stores in the south end. Beautiful furniture and accessories. The store is small and packed with a lot but it still feels comfortable yet luxurious. The owner is very nice and always accommodating even when she's very busy. She's also great at coming up with alternate ideas for you if what she has in the store doesn't quite work. read more
