I recommend taking a look - this place will take you by surprise, and is a refreshing addition to Faneuil Hall.

I can't win... or I can't lose? The vibe is similar to good in that you walk in and immediately want to buy EVERYTHING (and your wallet is like hey maybe no?), but it's a very different style. Where good was minimalist and only sold the Hamptons palette of white/gray/navy, Ouimillie takes a much more bold approach. Their clothing is so unique that at first, I thought it was all vintage. But no! It's a carefully curated collection of French, German, and Danish designers. From dip dyed tshirt dresses to sleek white blazers to cool girl jeans, they've got a little bit of everything. Prices are in line with what'd you expect from a boutique in Beacon Hill selling obscure designer brands, in the neighborhood of $200/blouse. Expensive? Yes. But not out of line with comps and their stuff is all really unique. They also have a gorgeous collection of home goods (I want all the gold ceramic bowls!), the cutest tiny leather purses in all colors and finishes, and a ton of jewelry. And candles. Of course there's candles.

It's a well curated selection, and you can reallllly tell that each product is selected with care. They're not just trying to shove all the latest trends at you like department stores, they're taking the time to really show you QUALITY pieces. That being said, the prices are high but I'm a quality over quantity person. Great for browsing too if you're in the area on a weekend. They don't get many pieces in the same style, so if you wait on it there's a big change you won't get your hands on it (I learned the hard way!).

I'm not a plant lover, but my friend is and really wanted to check it out, and I liked their unique look from the outside that made it different than the touristy spots all around Salem that I was getting a little sick of. I liked their selection of books and home decor. I loved a crystal tree they had and purchased it for a new display area I'm working on at home. I'd enjoyed my shopping experience so far and was excited about my purchase, but the staff member that rang me up was notably unfriendly. He ignored me for almost a full minute, continuing what looked like a craft project, before finally acknowledging me and directing me to the appropriate checkout station (he was standing squarely between two so I couldn't tell where to go). He ignored my polite attempts at small talk and seemed to rush the entire transaction so I would go away as soon as possible. I'd rate the store higher but was really off put by how I was treated, and other reviews note a similar attitude...I was starting to think I'd read into it, but this is clearly a trend. No employees greeted us or asked if we needed any help the entire time we browsed, in stark contrast to every other boutique I visited that day going above and beyond to make me feel welcome in their shop. Nice selection of items and pretty to look at, but be prepared for a dose of attitude.

There are a lot of items that are locked in cabinets and you would presumably have to grab someone from the first floor to unlock it if you wanted to have a closer look. I wasn't trying to spend a ton anyways and am usually happy just browsing, so I just got a small ceramic cup that wasn't locked in anything. There was a booth on the first floor selling fine jewelry and tennis bracelets that were gorgeous but out of my price range. There were a ton of eclectic interesting things here, some kind of grimy and some in pristine condition--truly a one man's trash is another's treasure sort of place.
