Rick Walkers has an awesome selection of western and rock attire. The highlight for me is the expansive amounts of leather jackets, cowboy boots, and embroidered pearl-snap shirts (basically all the country-western stuff) but there's also a good amount of more rock and roll styles, like cool shirts and intense jewelry. The vibe in this store is also just great: I love all the cool unique decor all around, which reinforces the store's styles and gives a strong sense of the stores long history in the city. Everything is pretty pricey, but it's also very rare for Boston. If leather/western/country/rock is your vibe at all, you have to check it out! read more

Best store in Boston! If you are looking for Vintage clothes and Rocknroll gear and jewelry this is the place! I've bought some Cowboy/western style shirts, Vintage Rock band t-shirts, and some cool rings and Rock band patches. Not sure how I haven't reviewed this place already... Rick, Rachel, and Henry Rizzo the rooster are the coolest group you'll find on Newbury Street. Whether you're looking for vintage boots, denim, leather, biker or cowboy styles, they have you covered. Their jewelry selection is also top notch if you're into turquoise. I even have a super cool wolf ring I picked up here. This is a fun place to just walk around, too because you'll find things you didn't even know you wanted. Along with jackets and tees covered with motorcycle patches and branding, it's like traveling back in time to when music was actually good. Sifting through racks of clothes you'll find lots of tees from shows by your favorite rock bands like The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Led Zeppelin etc... also occasionally a hot spot for musicians themselves and models looking to update their wardrobe with vintage finds. Ringo Starr has shopped there, so has Yelawolf, and V.S. model Allesandria Ambrosio (then wore her finds at Coachella!), and many more. This is the best shop ever!! I took a vacation to Boston and stubbled upon this place and I absolutely loved it!! They have such cool vintage rock finds, my favorites being their vintage Harley Davidson shirts, Levi denim jackets, and pins!! They are pretty reasonably priced for the stuff you find there, like I found an amazing vintage Levi denim jacket with some really cool rips due to wear and got it for $89, which is less expensive than buying a brand new Levi denim jacket. Also found a really cool vintage Harley Davidson shirt, and an easy riders shirt, along with some great pins. Best store ever and makes me so sad that I don't live here so I can shop all the time!!! read more

This is a rock n roll outfitter baby. Aerosmith buys their shit here. Peter Wolfe was there when I was there. If Britney Spears walked in to this awesome place she would be shot dead on the spot. Rick Walker is coolness and unpretentiousness in a bony rough around the edges radioactive package. They sell Wranglers, belt buckles, whiskey (no whiskey) ask for a beer though he has plenty in the fridge. He is a great musician. Look up his band on google. Blood Sweat and Gears. They love us on yelp?!? Really? Tiny little shop in a basement on Newbury street. Five old things from the 80s and 90s and all priced as if they were brand new at Nordstrom! Sale rack has sweaters and random items. Two sweaters i entertained but didn't buy were reduced from $15 to $12 but had stains on them and were made of polyester and acrylic. I have bought wonderful sweaters under $10 that have been at least 40% cashmere and wool! so these seemed kinda cheap, $4-$5 at the most really. The jewelry was cheap, no bakelite or lucite just cheap plastic and worn-off gold rings. There was somewhat of a good selection of cowboy boots and jeans though i didn't browse through them so i don't know if they were actually any good. I am surprised these people survive on this street selling such cheap items at such expensive prices. Do people fall for this stuff? The one shirt i actually liked (hot pink, petite, silky (though NOT actually silk) was $32! that's more than vintage Ferragamo Shoes on etsy, a Kate Spade purse at Crossroads or Mark Jacob shorts at Wasteland. Really? The guy behind the counter was friendly and offered me a smile. Maybe that's why all the reviews are raving....because the sales dude smiles at the customers, or maybe all of the 8 reviews were actually written by the owner's friends! read more

I never leave Newbury without stopping here for a treasure hunt. I'd been looking for cowboy boots specifically, which is why I first came in. But they're just an amazing all-around store. If you stick around, considering an item for a while, they'll be willing to discount it for you! (caveat: I was told that the really small sizes don't sell as fast, so I'm not sure if that's the reason I was given discounts specifically, or they do it for everyone). I picked up a pair of boots with lizard skin that were supposed to be 150, a pair of plain tan leather ones priced at 85, and also this gorgeous navy leather handbag straight out of the 60s (which was the perfect size, shape and comfort-level for me anyway), priced at 30. I got all three for 200. The next time I went, my fashionista sister (she even goes to FIT, haha) was at first reluctant to come in, but immediately fell in love and ultimately scored some green and black cowboy boots from 125 to 85. And while she was vacillating on whether to make the investment...I somehow found a pair of heels hidden under a chair. Guys, they are ridiculous red leather pumps for FIFTEEN DOLLARS. I basically had a jewgasm on the spot. The staff are really cool and helpful, suggesting ways you could wear things and pointing out other pieces that you may not have seen. Really knowledgeable. There are really cute belts, jewelry, belt buckles, shirts, jackets, etc. There was a leather jacket for a baby, and my sis and I lamented that our 7 year old brother was now too big for it. I missed out on a brown leather alligator handbag by hoping in vain that it'd be discounted. But DEFINITELY look in here - I don't know how they maintain rent on Newbury with such reasonable prices for truly amazing finds! (look for the gigantic cowboy boot outside. haha.) read more

Look, I know rick sells things. . I know this because I've bought form him before, but frankly I don't think of this as a store so much as I think of it as a hub, a hangout, some awesome guy's front porch. Why? Well, it's probably because I've gone it at 11 pm to see rick drinking a beer and just hanging out. . apparently his wife wasn't around so he figured "what the fuck?" Walk by here almost any time and people and just . . . relaxing, sometimes playing guitar, sometime listening to music on the system and rick is there, hangin with them. I agree with Craig C. Rick is super cool. I bought a cool cowboy-esqe belt with a super neat-o mermaid belt buckle here. Rick's wife was nice enough to punch an extra hole into the belt for me because it didn't exactly fit right. He also has a piano, cool fireplace with a couch and super killer rock and roll cowboy gear. No Berklee guitar player is complete without at least one accessory from Rick's store. read more

My sister is on the hunt for cowboy boots, so we ducked down into Rick Walker's to see what was on offer. They have reasonably priced vintage/gently worn boots and other items both cowboy and non-cowboy themed. By the front of the register they have a live rooster in a little cage (we hoped he goes home to a nice big coop at the end of the day). The staff was friendly and helpful but not pushy. My sister didn't end up buying the boots she tried on (she wants something flashier!) but I had to review the store anyway. Check it out! read more

Large collection of interesting and fun vintage belt buckles. All the boots are awesome, the vintage ones are normally in the 125-ish range. This place is awesome. Except for the fact that I was basically ignored for the 20 minutes I was there. Sometimes I conduct these experiments. As a middle-aged woman, I see how long I can walk around a "cool" store and be ignored. I could've walked around here all day long. There were some questions I had about the boots though I am a bit of an expert I worked for sheplers, and several other boot stores when I lived in Texas. So I am in enthusiast. And I know what I'm talking about. I would've loved to have had a conversation about the boots and their various makers styles shapes and sizes so that I could have spent some of the big wad of cash in my purse. But the man while not completely rude never stopped his conversation with his friend never offered to help me and generally did not make me feel welcome it's like he did not even want to be there at all. I found the situation sad and unfortunate. Because the place is really cool. And had some amazing stuff but without having someone to ask questions and guide you through it ,it just wasn't interesting enough to me to stay and spend some of my big wad. Sad, very sad. I moved to Boston 3 years ago and Rick Walkers is always on my drop in list when I'm walking by on Newbury Street. Yes it's not for everyone - the look and vintage style has a Western and rock and roll flavor, but the items are unique and really good quality. I especially love the boot selection and the American Indian jewelry. The vintage leather jackets are great too, and the fact that there's a rooster (or chicken?) in the store just makes it cool. read more

Do people love you on yelp? The boots are quality, the atmosphere is cool. The two men standing at the door who I think worked there ignored me as they talked abour guitar gear. The girl working here was sarcastic and ill tempered (code for bitchy.) I asked if the place was open because the guys were jawing and not helping me. 'Are you talking to me or on the phone?' It's not unheard of to talk on the phone as you walk in the store. I looked at her and repeated the question. 'We let you in so what do you think?' She said. Um, did I do something to piss you off? I told her my shoe size and she pointed out some shoes on sale almost nicely. Then some more sarcasm. I was kind of over there by myself while the guys kept talking gear. I really did enjoy the music and their conversation about John Lennon's guitar, but was wandering in a way that was obviously clueless and hurt by this Masshole chick. I guess I'm the boot expert and they couldn't be bothered to come over there. I left and the girl said nothing. I thought about calling her out for her unnecessary attitude, but yeah. Very cool vibe to this place. The rock and roll cowboy thing really fits...rock pictures on the walls and cowboy boots everywhere. They have a lot of different styles and colors of boots, most of which are surprisingly affordable. They've also got vintage jeans, and new and used leather jackets and belts. I bought my first pair of boots at Walker's 20 years ago, and the place has gotten better with age. read more
