What a phenomenal place! I had bought a rather expensive leather dress on sale, upon removing the security tag, I realized that the tag had covered up a noticeable, fairly serious "rip" in the leather, enough that I was prepared to let it go...but then took a leap of faith that someone might be able to fix it, negotiated another 30% off and walked home with it, where I proceeded to breath into a paper bag while googling for someone to fix it...oh yes, that would have been a 30% discount tied to a "final cannot bring this back ever" sale. After some yelp reading and internet searching, I ended up at the doorstep of Helen's Leather on Beacon Hill and what can I say....they were great. I emailed them some photos, they responded very quickly, I dropped it off and Lisa, the owner, did a PHENOMENAL job. Yes, ALL CAPS on that one. I mean, look at the before photo. It is the same dress, just shitty lighting, one is nighttime with no flash and one is daytime sunny day. But let's ignore the color, you can barely see that there was damage!! They did an excellent job of sewing this jacket up. Seems like it wasn't ripped up in the first place. My friend is bigger than me so he tried it on as a 'joke' and i had to help him to take it off since he literally put his arms through the sleeves. I just took it and put it back on. I didnt know the shoulder was ripped until the next morning. I was livid. I was like if for some reason they can't repair it you (my friend) would have to buy me a brand new one ($1,000 jacket) and his jaw dropped. But it got repaired and i told him its $50 and waiting for him to pay me back. Thank you very for the superb service. Satisfied customer. If you want to buy a pair of cowboy boots without leaving New England, there's only one place to go. And you can get there from the Red Line's Charles/MGH T stop. Just about one year ago, I attributed the barking void in my life to not owning a pair of cowboy boots. I asked a sage fellow -- wise in the ways and means of men's fashion -- where to go. Almost offended by the question, he told me about Helen's Leather. Sounded like an S&M shop to me but, hell, the least I'd get out of it was a quality whip. What a wondrous little shop. It's awfully small -- I couldn't imagine being one of more than two or three customers -- but they use their vertical space well and offer an amazing selection of cowboy boots in all shapes, styles and price ranges. Only in the market for boots and needing to stop short of transforming completely into an urban cowboy, I passed on a complementary selection of slick boots and hats. The patient, engaging and knowledgeable employee helped this greenhorn to select an introductory-level pair of pointed-toe boots and gave me a quick primer on maintenance and how to deal with wear-and-tear. An older gentleman, also quite genial, did the ringing up and generously tossed in a small bottle of protective solution gratis. I never even knew this place was there but I was walking by the other day and stopped in on a whim. The guy there told me they were the number one distributor of Cowboy boots in New England. Who knew? What can I say, I love a guy in Cowboy boots and we had been talking about getting a pair for my husband. Nothing but high praise for Greg and Helen's Leather. I'd been researching and looking for a Schott leather jacket for weeks when I found Helen's online. I emailed Greg to get more information about what they carried and he encouraged me to visit the shop to try the jackets on for sizing. Greg offered to order the jacket I was interested in even though he doesn't normally carry that model. To make the deal even better, Greg ordered two sizes for me and matched Schott's 15% off coupon without hesitation. The jacket arrived two days later and I've barely taken it off since. Great local business. Craig is fantastic. I have been wearing cowboy boots forever and finally decided to get a new pair and was looking for something a little bit different. I wanted a heel, and something a little dressier than your standard 1883 Lucchese. So we looked through the catalog together and he suggested a Dan Post boot he didn't carry in store. As a result he ordered them for me (in 7.5, 8, and 8.5 just in case my regular sz 8 didn't fit!!!), with just a $100 deposit down, and if I didn't like them I would get a full refund---now that's customer service! A week later I got a phone call and they had arrived and they were perfect!! I get so many compliments on them on a daily basis! Additionally they do great boot restoration, I took a pair of destroyed Frye boots to him, and they came back looking brand new! Highly recommend! read more

However, I would also be the best dressed homeless person in Boston (on my feet, at least!) The boots they have have are out of this world, amazing. Although Greg is no longer working at the store, the current manager, Emina, is just as great and wonderful. I went into this store looking for a black leather moto jacket, specifically a Schott's jacket (as I had done some online research). Lisa, the owner, was there and had me try on several different brands, which I appreciated as the Schott's is quite pricey. However, I still liked the Schott's the best, but sleeves are always too long on my short arms. Lisa said she could alter them for me, and I could pick up the jacket a week later. Well today I picked up my new jacket and couldn't be happier. Lisa did a fantastic job! Though the jacket is pricey, it's top notch quality and will last forever. Walked in to check out some of their Schott leather jackets, expecting to see only a handful of jackets that probably wouldn't be my size. To my surprise they had a fairly large inventory on display in different sizes, styles and colors. Not sure if the gentleman's name there is Greg from prior reviews, but he was very helpful and very patient as I tried on several jackets and vests and just browsed around the small shop for an hour. He also knew what he was talking about and was very familiar with the brand. He is a pleasure to talk to and I eventually purchased a Schott 141 which was priced lower than Schott's website. It was a perfect fit and a great shopping experience. I wish more small and large businesses were run this way. Great customer service and a good selection of jackets, boots, belts and hats. I took my grand children to Helen's Leather to purchase Western boots as a back to school gift. My granddaughter is ready for high school and she was able to purchase a pair of "good" boots. Think her feet have stopped growing. Our grandson, age 12, wanted a pair as well, but, we told him he had to wait until his feet stopped growing. Yet, when we arrived at the store, our sales person found a kids pair, good looking, but not as pricy. He was thrilled. We received amazing help, patient with their individual needs. It is amazing how they actually stock most everything (high end boots, belts, gloves, shirts, and hats). Greg is knowledgeable patient and will not oversell or undersell just for the sack of taking your money. These people really care that you like, enjoy, and feel good about your purchase. I can say I totally enjoyed my experience here and each time I wear my boots I feel great and the boots fit perfect. Was incredulous when I first visited this this place a few years ago. Where I grew up, it wasn't unusual to wear boots everyday and we had boot stores the size of Costco's. Especially being located in Beacon Hill, I expected this place to be a high end boutique of "fashion" boots. While they have a few fashion forward/trendy boots, this place is the real deal. Given its size, they have a decent selection of quality boots. The best thing about this place are the folks that work there - especially Greg, who I think has been there for years.
