This place was fun. We were there on a Thursday night a little before the holidays hit. We got to Belmont Center late and we were so happy to see this place open - not just open but welcoming. I picked up a cute asymmetrical circle necklace (thanks for showing it to me Frannie) and my friend picked up a gorgeous scarf. Let me tell you, the ladies here were super nice and really patient. This was our last stop of the day and Frannie and I were really goofy. They indulged us and joined us in the frivolity. I liked the offerings at Bessie Blue and the fact that you aren't going to find the items here at every mall store. I love the variety of accessories they offer as well. A bit above my price range for my current status but I can window shop! The ladies who work here were a riot. Barbara and I were there just before closing. The ladies chatted us up and helped us get items that we wanted to try without making us feel like we had to get the hell out. I fell madly in love with a scarf but just couldn't bring myself to buy it because it was a loose weave and caught on everything. Kudos to their window displays! I drove by this killer top on the mannequin at least 4 times before I had to swerve my car off into a parking space--cuz I was compelled to buy it no matter the price. Turns out I was going to have to shell out a pretty penny for the Nanette Lapore top, but the final price was still a bargain in the world of Lapore clothing. So I get this gem home and whatta ya know--a few beads fell off. I was so bummed. No worries. I took it back and explained to the sales woman what happened. She took it to their tailor and fixed it up--no questions, no costs to me. The sales people are always friendly and had great suggestions. I've even bought a few reasonably priced jewelry items as gifts. The clothing prices are all pretty decent and span a range of $20's ish for Michael Stars t-shirts to a couple hundy for cute, unique dresses. read more

Me and my friend wen't to the center and we wanted to get something for our moms. So we asked them them if they had anything under $20 and they were just so nice to us. We were going to take pictures of stuff to see if our moms wanted it but they asked us if we wanted a better place to take pictures (they're super nice!) and when we picked what we wanted they rapped it in a very pretty box with a pretty pink ribbon. I've been a customer since they opened, it's such a cute, well laid out boutique with lots of unique items that I constantly get complimented on when I wear them. The staff is BY FAR the most loveliest, helpful, unpretentious stylists that know what they are talking about. They will give you honest styling help and is a great reason why I go there over and over again. I would give them 5 stars if they weren't so focused on trend...but that's just my opinion. Since losing a bunch of weight (thanks Fitness Together Belmont!) I'm in need of some new clothes. We visited on Saturday afternoon looking for a pair of dark jeans. Left a couple of hours later with several pairs of colorful jeans and really cute tops. Ashley and Ivana were so great - they know their stuff and had me trying on things that I'm usually not brave enough to try. This stuff fits and looks great! I really like Bessie Blue from the enticing window displays, the carefully selected clothing and accessories, to the customer service. The wrapping is even cool! I have always gotten the help I have needed here. The salespeople have a good eye for putting things together that you might not think would work. Ashley, Lone, and Leigh - what did I wear before I met you? These gals have a great sense of humor and they are FUN. But they are knowledgeable and serious about clothes and accessories and service, and find fabulous stuff for me that I would never put on my own body. There are some beautiful pieces here, and I hit an amazing sale, but what I want to talk about is the staff. What wonderful, kind people! I came in here with my infant and they were incredibly patient with us. He woke up as soon as I went into the fitting room, of course, and not only were they ok with me feeding and changing him (there's only three fitting rooms), they offered me water and pillows. Great style - geared towards a slightly younger crowd than many of the other boutiques in the area. The staff is always friendly, but not pushy and have helped me in several last minute, "I really need a" [dress/pair of black pants/insert desperately needed item of clothing here] emergencies. They have a lot of basics, as well as more trendy and eye-catching pieces, at a wide range of prices. My only complaint is that often the piece I like most is a bit beyond my price range. There are often sales, however, and most of the clothing is also of a quality that it may be worth a little extra to buy a good item that you'll wear for a long time. If you haven't gone yet, they really are worth checking out - though I'm being a little self-serving as I really don't want them to go out of business, and can't afford to keep them going on my own. read more

I didn't love this place. At all. I was excited to go because I drive by it all the time and had recieved a couple gift certificates to the shop, which I was eager to use. I was ignored from the moment I walked in and never even recieved so much as an acknowledgement or hello from the three women working there until I had made one full lap of the store. I should mention that there was only one other customer in the store at the time. I finally caught a saleswoman's eye. I was interested in finding another pair of Paige jeans, ones that I already have and love. When I asked for a specific fit and size, the saleswoman acted as if I had no idea what I was talking about, suggesting that the brand and size were all wrong for me. Had she taken the time to actually assess her customer, she would've realized I was asking for another pair of the jeans I was, at that very moment, WEARING. And they fit me. To a t. Never have I met a saleswoman who suggests to her customer that she go UP a size. I'm a 25. To suggest that I should be wearing a 27 clearly shows that she didn't even bother to look at me. I told her I was a 25. She didn't care. She was clearly more interested in the suburban soccer mom she was sycophantically drooling over by the dressing room than assisting me. And here I was, not only willing to help out her shop (since from what I gather, Bessie Blue is staffed by its owners), but ready to do so by dropping $190 dollars on a pair of jeans. Anyway, once she realized I wasn't finding what I wanted (mostly because she wasn't providing me with what I wanted), the saleswoman proceeded to go back to ignoring me. On top of the atrocious customer service I experienced, I should also mention how uncomfortable the two main saleswomen made me feel thanks to their unprofessional treatment of the third shopgirl, who looked to be in her teens. They talked down to her and gave her short answers. Perhaps they don't like her? Who cares - a business is a business and it should be run professionally no matter what. Bessie Blue needs to work on its professionalism. So here I am, left with two gift certificates - free money! - to this shop and no desire to use them. A real disappointment. read more

This store just opened earlier in August right in downtown Belmont Center! They carry a lot of fashionable clothing as well as great accessories and gifts. Some of the brands they carry include 525 america, Red Engine, Hanky Panky, Velvet, Laundry, James Cured Jeans, Free People, and three dots. When I went in there, I purchased a reasonable priced bracelet. A lot of their clothes they carry are simple and perfect for multiple events from casual weekends to the workplace to the afterwork dinner parties. The owners (3 women) who formerly owned Bella in Belmont Center are fantastic and helpful. The decor is simple and beautiful with the browns and off whites. If you need to get a girl a nice simple reasonable (now that word is relative ... so I have to be careful with my wording!) priced gift, this boutique is sure worth a visit! I am definitely going back to get a sweater for the chillier days at work! read more

I love this store. I'm a work-from-home mom who looks like hell about 90% of the time, but 10% of the time I have to dress up for work and look somewhat fashionable. I have walked in to this store before looking like a crumpled up tissue and they treat me as if I'm their most hip and fashionable customer. Seriously... this past weekend I needed some new clothes and I walked in looking like I rolled out of bed. They treated me with pure warmth and helpfulness. There are a lot of stores that will give you the hairy eyeball and look you up and down if you don't seem to fit their mold. There are very few rods I can say; this store is generally an ice-cold place to be, their service is so bad it made me want to leave and never come back. They obviously talk down to people whom they don't believe will buy anything. Walk in just to browse, and they give you looks that say "Get out of here, don't waste my air!" The woman who helped me was fantastic, she was able to get my "style" (such as it is) and find different pieces that I LOVED for different looks. I visited Bessie Blue because I had heard the buzz about its recent opening and I wanted to look for a gift for my wife. I generally hate shopping but, I have to admit, my experience at Bessie Blue was unique and, to my surprise, really fun. The store's atmosphere is very classy but very inviting, the women who helped me were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful (without applying pressure to buy). I really liked the look of the clothes and the reasonable price tags but, more importantly, my wife loves it. The good news is I did my gift shopping in one pleasant stop, the bad news is, my wife now knows about Bessie Blue and I see a substantial increase in her wardrobe in the future.
