Greentail Table was recommended to me by a friend as a good place to buy gifts. I found some great gifts for people who are difficult to buy for. I also always manage to find a number of gifts for myself every time I browse their website. Everything I have bought is quality and beautiful. I've mostly purchased from the website. All the items are just as described and they package everything wonderfully and ship quickly. I'm going to try to make it to the store more often because it's even more fun to browse in person and the women who work there are so pleasant. So I rushed over and they didn't have it out on the floor anymore, but already pulled a pile out for me to look at. I have passed by this place many times and it looks so cute from the sidewalk so I decided to go in today. I opened the door and got completely ambushed by an old woman who was waving her hands at me saying "we've reached capacity! You have to go outside!" I'm all about the covid restrictions so to me, that's fine to have to wait outside. However, as a first time customer getting bum rushed like that was jarring and speaks greatly towards their customer service skills I'm sure. There's definitely a more tactful way of letting people know the system in place. Most people want to comply by it. But the way this lady treated me made me keep walking. I ended up not going in. They don't deserve my business. Better luck to others who get a warmer welcome. read more

When I walked into Greentail Table in the Nonantum section of Newton over seven years ago I was very happy to see a shop specializing in gifts and home décor. I remember my first impression was that it reminded me of Crate and Barrel on a small scale but when perusing further I realized it offered an even more personal and interesting assortment of things all hand-picked by the owner Linda de Valpine. Linda has a great eye for merchandising and her store offers a terrific selection of things of interest for the home at reasonable price points. Over the years, I have also been impressed with the personnel as they are very courteous and helpful. Marilyn who has been there from the start has helped me on numerous occasions. It is the type of store that one can easily find a gift for even the pickiest of people because Linda has really good taste. I recently bought double-sided placemats that have a different shade of blue on each side and gave them as a birthday gift. My friend wrote me a thank you note and told me not to tell anyone but they were her very favorite present as they were pretty and practical and she said she would use them all the time. So, if you are looking for a gift and not even sure what to get I suggest going to Greentail Table as you will delight in all its offerings and surely be able to find something for whatever the occasion and don't be surprised if you also find something for yourself. read more

Cute store but terrible customer service. Linda misunderstood a request I made, and it resulted in me having to come back to the store to pick up the item. Since she thought what I wanted was out of stick, it would have been nice for her to offer free shipping to have it sent to me, especially since I have a 5 week old newborn at home, but she didn't. It's a good thing she didn't offer, actually, since when I went back, I discovered what I wanted had been in stock the whole time. She apologized for the mix-up, although no offer of a slight discount for the trouble was offered. This is all fine, but what really upset me was a follow-up email she sent a few minutes after I left. It didn't apologize but instead basically explained that she was right and I'd been wrong. Basic practice of retail is that the customer is always right, Linda, and she never clarified what I'd asked for, making an assumption. Maybe if what you think they want isn't in stock, it might be good to double check or offer an alternative that might be what she wants instead. I won't be back. UPDATE: Linda offered me 25% off to make up for the inconvenience. Much appreciated. read more

Put this store on your radar! This is a small exquisite shop, the kind you think doesn't exist anymore. It is certainly a place to buy unique hostess or wedding gifts but much more!The owner, Linda, has a great eye and has selected items that will make your home more special. There are many reasonably priced items and her stock evolves with each new season keeping the look fresh and giving you ideas for your own life. My mom and I went yesterday (the Wednesday before Thanksgiving) to get a birthday gift. They had just closed but very generously re-opened for us. The selection in the store was great but not overwhelming. We found a beautiful gift and card. All in all it was a great experience and we will be going back! read more

This place has some awesome stuff and everyone is very pleasant. I didn't really look hard at the prices but they didn't seem bad. Everything was a little unique and I found it hard to leave without buying something or calling friends and family to see if they had any small gifts that they needed for friends. They had some unique stuff and everything was colorful and fun. It made me want to have a party just so I had something to buy entertaining stuff for. The brands were varied and the store has a fun vibe. I think it will be a place where everything changes in and out quickly and the spot is tucked into the old Italian neighborhood of Nonantum so it doesn't stick out... I hope they market a bit more or get a bigger, flashier sign, otherwise I fear people will miss out on going here, but i recommend you go! I hope it makes it in our neighborhood... i want more places like this to come in! :) read more

This is a store that would not be out of place in Brooklyn, Portland or any other chic shopping mecca you would care to name. Beautiful ceramics, glasses and linens, plus fun extras like party favors, cookbooks and small food items. Everything is artfully arranged in a bright and cheerful space. I have tried to go twice. Both times it was closed, although the website said it would be open. First time was on a Monday (website says it's open Monday-Saturday), but sign on door said it's open Tuesday-Saturday. The hours on the website should be accurate! Next time I tried was a Tuesday; I checked the website before heading there. It was closed again. I can understand being closed for vacation, but why wouldn't you put that on the website?
