I was in Boston for a weekend and had looked up stationary stores online and this shop came up. I looked at pictures and decided to check it out. So glad I did. It's a small shop, but it was very cute. They had all kinds of stationary supplies. I have a TN regular and passport so I wanted to get some refills, they also had some hobonichi notebooks and covers as well. They had a bunch of different kinds of pens, washi tapes, stickers, stencils, etc... definitely worth a stop. I also got a TWSBI fountain pen that I wanted and they had it there! Was so happy about that. Got ink for my new pen, they had different brands and colors of ink as well. The employee in the shop was really nice and helpful. read more

As a stationery fanatic, I was so happy to find out that there was a Traveler's Company partner shop in Boston (IYKYK). I came here on a work trip so I made sure to visit when I had time. I got some cute some postcards to send out to pen pals and got a bunch of stickers for myself as well. I spoke to the owner for what felt like hours on fountain pens because I am in the market to buy my very first one. She let me test a bunch of them and was very sweet/knowledgeable. I love The Paper Mouse! My go-to shop for all things paper and pens. They have so many charming and useful items - lovely brass rulers, washi tape galore, cute erasers, handy totes, shimmery ink, and seriously excellent wooden pencils. The store's greeting cards designed by in-house artists are lovely, some whimsical and fun, and others just plain beautiful. The owners and all the staff are helpful and engaging. I've enjoyed some workshops offered in their atleier, with a lovely sense of community. We all shared stickers and washi tape at a journaling session, and received a packet of stickers and other ephemera. read more

With everyone shopping online or at giant chain retailers, and the steady decline of the love for the written letter, it's become quite difficult to find a half-decent stationery store. Add to that a place the specializes in fountain pens, has an awesome backstory, and collaborates with local, independent artists and you get this amazing gem of a shop. The decor is very warm and welcoming - you want to look at every shelf, stand, display. They carry some really amazing, hard-to-find stationery goods - I'm not even sure where to start. Let's start with their in house brand. The Paper Mouse (go check out their website, their back story is cute!) art is adorable and so well done. They have a great selection of art prints, greeting cards, postcards, vinyl stickers, gift wrap, and even a fashionable tote bag! Fountain pens. I am a fountain pen ... enthusiast? Whenever I travel, I always have to hunt down local fountain pens shops, and I'm part of a community where we will travel across the country (and often internationally) to attend pen shows (yes, there are pen shows). The Paper Mouse has a really nice selections of fountain pens ranging from beginner pens like $30 Lamy and Kaweco entry pens to a bit higher range like Sailors ($$$). They have a great little pen bar for you to see and test out their pens, and they seem to really know their stuff. They also have a very nice selection of fountain pen inks - they offer an incredible selection of ink samples for purchase as well. Whether you're interested in your first ever fountain pen, or you're a long time user like myself, I really think this is a great shop to check out. Paper goods. They have an entire second room dedicated to just paper goods. They have a lovely wall of greeting cards, postcards, and art prints (I own several) to cover whatever occasion you can think of. I love that they collaborate with independent artists. Beyond this wall, they have an extensive selection of notebooks, especially if you're looking for something that's fountain pen friendly for that new pen you just bought! They also have some very unique home goods that would make perfect housewarming gifts. I can't say enough good things about this place - or the staff! Everyone I've encountered here is friendly and knowledgable. Whether you spend $0 or $300, they are always quick to help. This is probably my favorite stationery shop in the Boston area, even if they aren't the biggest. I always walk out smiling. read more

When my sister mentioned this little gem, I was a little skeptical it would have anything I needed. I'm not into calligraphy and I certainly don't draw. Upon stepping in, I realized I was totally right. Nothing I need but full of everything I wanted. So many cool pens, pencils, journals, cards, you name it!! I especially loved the upscyled journal I got that looks like an old novel. Such a creative way to extend the life cycle of recyclables!! Kind helpful warm customer service and beautiful wonderful products. I especially love their white palomino pencils, Beautiful cards and pens they even make custom return address labels. They also have an atelier where they host workshops. They have wonderful gift guides on their website and offer curated gift boxes. The Paper Mouse is an absolutely delightful shop settled right in West Newton. They have every stationary item you could think of and more. The shop boasts an impressive collection of pens (most of which you can test out), the pens range from low prices all the way to high end items. I personally picked up a few build your own pens by Cocorio. They also have an excellent range of notebooks with the student, artist and bullet journaler in mind. In addition, the shop has watercolors, inks, and washi tapes. I can't wait to go visit them again and I definitely recommend checking them out even if it's a bit of a drive. The owner is very kind and knowledgeable; he talked to me for some time about different products and made a few recommendations. Before everything in retail went online, there used to be lots of very good stationary stores around. Certain of the survivors fortunately remain, and the best west of Boston has to be The Paper Mouse. I've been in at Christmas for the cards that make recipients say 'wow,' and at other times for something special that I want. Love the postcards and notebooks and the supplies that a stationary snob like me demands. When I go in, it's because I care about the words I'm putting to paper, or the impression I want to make. Adorable! So many things to look at inside, and everything in the shop is animal and paper-themed. Who doesn't love animals and stationary gifts?? I love the unique gifts (adorable mini erasers, beautifully wrapped candies, cute trinkets) and beautiful, high quality stationary/cards. The stationary and cards are all beautifully packaged, and the designs are delicate and pretty. You can buy individual special-occasion cards (birthdays, hello, get well, etc.), or boxed card sets. The shop is clean and the decor is simple. Victor was so enthusiastic about sharing the shop layout and their unique gifts and stationary. Prices are not cheap, but they sell quality-products, and it's great to support your local businesses. The most perfect stationary store ever! This small shop is beautifully curated in a way that is perfectly classic without being too nostalgic. They carry greeting cards and stationary with watercolor designs that are charming, witty, and thoughtful. The greeting cards are reasonably priced for an indy shop. There is also a small selection of other stationary products and curios from around the world. If our society's reaction to the modernism that is now becoming mainstream will be a return to what is classic and timeless, which I believe it will be, this shop is very avant-garde. I often visit to marvel at the decor and the cards. Everyone who is in the Boston area should. I believe the shop is owned by a small collective of four who use the watercolors of one of their artists, Felix, for their stationary products. They print locally and I believe they also wholesale the cards worldwide. This is a fantastic minority owned small business that is not getting the attention it should. I just came here for the first time and met Felix's wife. She was extraordinarily sweet and welcoming. This is a store that is one of kind. It is not the same as Paper Source. Everything in this place has exquisite taste. If you are someone who admires finer novelty items than this is the place for you. The price range is also pretty great. I have to admit that I thought some of the things were going to have sky rocketing prices but it wasn't the case. They have beautiful water painted cards, bookmarks and stationary that you won't find anywhere else in Massachusetts. You really need to check it out for yourself. read more

After a movie at the West Newton Cinema my friends and I walked into the Paper Mouse and found ourselves in a wonderland of stunning stationery. Felix, the artist, and his partner, Lauren,were there.
