I've always been extremely satisfied with my choices I moved into a gorgeous new place a few months ago and needed a rug to really tie the room together, so he special ordered this abstract galaxy looking rug for me. At first I stupidly thought the rug was too big and was thinking of having him trim it down and re-bind it but Dave wisely advised me to move it under furniture and make sure it's centered. He said give it a few days and then decide. Good thing I listened cuz he was right! Once I truly centered it under couches and what not it looks awesome! I get plenty of compliments on it and reaffirmation from friends that it actually is the perfect size for the room. Trust me...You can't get this type of service or expertise from Wayfair or Home Depot and honestly, the pricing is VERY comparable I think. read more

Not only a great selection of area rugs and hallway runners and carpets and very good prices, but such incredibly nice owner and friendly service! When my mom was taking an hour to choose an area rug, the owner let my 7 year old build a fort out of runner rolls. He literally said, "it's ok, it's what children do, they build forts." We chatted as my mother went through nearly every rug in the store and my kid built a fort. AND the owner let my mother to take two rugs home to see which one looked better, and return the one we didn't take when we came a week later to pick up the custom-cut hallway runner I ordered. The business had to close during Covid and is now affected by the closure of Moody street, so please visit them if you need a quality rug at affordable prices. We shopped around and we finally found both a nice runner and a bedroom rug at Barsam. There is a parking lot at Crescent St behind, a minute to the store and with easy access to the back for pickup. You will be pleased with the selection and prices and super friendly service. This is a wonderful small business to support. read more

Our old living room rug was too small for our new condo, so we wanted to find something a bit bigger that was elegant, not too tacky looking, but not too expensive-- and easily cleaned, since we have a cat with an unfortunate tendency to spit 1-2 hairballs a month on the living room floor. When we described what we wanted, the salesman pointed us to the right type of synthetic Oriental rug, and we found one that fit the bill perfectly-- with no pressure on us to consider anything fancier than we needed. We're really happy with this rug-- it looks fantastic and cleans easily. PS The place is so full of product that we found it a bit hard to navigate the options, but actually, I think that's true of every rug store I've ever been in, so no point in docking them for it. read more

I came here looking for a rug for my living room and found a sisal rug with padding. The rug was a good deal considering how much jute and sissal type rugs are on the web and I was happy for a while until I moved and noticed the underside padding had deteriorated substantially and has continued to do so after 2 years of moderate use. The rug still has its appeal but since the padding is almost completely gone it is now tougher on bare feet and leaves a powdery mess. read more

I love Barsam Rug. The two guys that run this place are very kind and pleasant. They are never pushy and will answer your questions, and they're very knowledgeable and helpful. It looks a little overwhelming at first, but all the rugs are organized mostly by size, and it's easy to look through for what you're looking for. We happened upon this store after going to Elfman's down the street. Another great store, but didn't have exactly what we were looking for. Barsam's has more patterned area rugs in a variety of sizes, while Elfman's had bigger, solid pieces and wall to wall. Barsam's had a huge selection of area rugs at affordable prices. David even gave us a discount at checkout. Unfortunately, we found that the rug we bought didn't look good in our living room, and ended up returning it about an hour after we bought it. David was really nice about it, and was happy to show us more rugs that he thought we would like better, even though the store was about to close. We left with a rug we are really happy with, and will definitely be going back. Great people, great products and great prices! read more
