After showing him pictures of our living room and explaining what we seemed to like, David showed me about 10-12 rugs and was very helpful explaining the differences between the styles/patterns, manufacture and quality, as well as appropriate sizing. With his guidance, I boiled it down to four and arranged to have them delivered to the house so we could see what they looked like with our furniture & colors (btw, I highly recommend doing this). My wife and I were so blown away, by how the rugs transformed the room, that we decided to buy one for our dining room as well. Both are hand-woven, tribal patterns from Afghanistan. Since then, I've taken four older rugs in for cleaning and one fringe repair....they look great! David and his team are exceptional at what they do. I could not be happier to have found and worked with a business like this - great experience all around!!

I understand you sign a waiver that states they can't guarantee spots will be removed but in my case they removed the dye from the rug, briefly mentioned it to me when I picked up my rug, never showed me what happened, and still charged me for the full cleaning despite damaging my rug. It seems like whoever was doing the cleaning didn't have enough expertise to know how to treat or clean my rug and irreparably damaged it. The fact that I was still charged the full amount for the cleaning felt disingenuous. They clearly knew they had damaged the rug as they mentioned it to me upon pick up. Not showing me the area affected when I was there felt like they were trying to hide their mistake. Be very cautious when you bring rugs here to be cleaned.

The person I spoke with on the phone said that he couldn't give an estimate without seeing the rug and offered to come to our home to give an estimate it at no charge. To be fair to him, I told him that I was collecting information from several companies (due diligence), and I wanted to give full disclosure about that. He was apparently upset and questioned me why I would call him if I had other estimates in line and said his client base was loyal for 44 years and wished me luck. So no service unless I commit beforehand or lead him on dishonestly.

There was one small glitch when the wrong color carpet was delivered for the stairs. I called Liz and the problem was fixed without any issues. I would greatly recommend J&S Carpet in Belmont.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - I called to order a rug cleaning before the deadline of a discount promotion I received by text. I spoke with someone who answered the phone, who said the head person was out but I would receive a call back. I never did. - I called back the following week. I set up a pickup date, and I mentioned the discount code I was sent via text as I am in their system. - This discount code was not honored. I failed to notice when I paid the bill because our home is under construction, and when I called back to remind their manager she denied that I was ever sent this. When I explained that I couldn't have dreamed up such a code and it was part of the reason I gave them my business again, she still refused to honor it. - When she called to let me know about setting up the delivery, her tone and her comments were accusatory "arent you reading my emails, I have tried to reach you". I apologized, but she proceeded to say "we cant store your rugs here" - again in a very accusatory tone. The email oversight was my bad, my intention was not. As anyone who has had to go through a renovation knows, details can easily get lost when you arent living in your home space. If you are looking for a company that honors their promotions and has professional customer service, go elsewhere. Boston Rug Cleaning is not your place.

And I said "I vacuum them" and "I got them from my parents and they've never sent them off to a rug cleaner." Yelp reader, I was wrong. You need to have a professional actually CLEAN your rug. And so, I finally did. Boston Rug Cleaning was fantastic. Reasonable prices, rugs were done in about 2 weeks, good communication, and very pretty rugs- with no weird chemical cleaning smell. Also, it's like those ASMR videos of people cleaning filthy rugs and you're like "it was red this whole time?!" That's how I felt when the rugs came back and I unfurled them from their paper casings. The colors are so vibrant and evenly tufted. I feel like I've grown out of my family's incorrect conviction that wool rugs don't need deep cleaning - they really do! My lungs are happy! The weird smell in my house when we've been gone for a week is also gone! Anyway, it's work to move all the furniture away and roll up the rug, but definitely worth the effort (you need to sweep under there anyway, guarantee it). The company will pick up the rug but if you have a car it's not hard at all to take over yourself and save some $. They're on Rte 9 and parking was no problem- they also helped move the rugs in and out of the car. So happy with the service!
