He pulled out loads of swatches and laid them out, explaining the nuances of each fabric type and texture so we could make the most informed decisions possible. But, it was also important to him that we were making suits that were custom to our individual tastes and personalities. He helped us figure out which colors would work together while still fitting our budget. Alex and his coworkers were genuinely excited each time we came in for a fitting. You can tell they take pride in their work and that they strive to make something that is special and perfect for you. I could not believe the level of thought and care that went into crafting the perfect fit. We received so many compliments on our suits and I can't wait for the next opportunity to wear mine again!

To say I'm embarrassed to wear the suit 9Tailors made for me for my wedding would be an…read moreunderstatement. There is clearly something missing in the process and ability of this company, and for the price, it is completely unacceptable. I have had plenty of custom suits and sport coats made before, ranging from fully bespoke, made-from-scratch garments to off-the-rack pieces with minor alterations. My usual company was very busy, so I decided to give 9Tailors a try based on what I had heard about them. I also wanted my wedding suit done well ahead of time, so I went in for my initial consultation five months before my wedding. The initial meeting was fine. We discussed the options, picked my fabrics, and off we went. With any fully custom suit, I completely understand needing one or two rounds of adjustments once the actual garment comes in. What I did not expect was to go through FIVE fittings over more than four months, only for the team STILL to not get the suit right. With my wedding approaching only 2 weeks away, I simply lost faith in the process. I took what I was given rather than continuing the cycle of pointing out an issue, waiting another 2-4 weeks for the next appointment, then finding that while one issue had been fixed, the alteration had created two new ones. When a suit costs $2,135 and is being made specifically for your wedding, having to leave a custom suiting company with a suit that does not fit properly is incredibly disappointing. I am now days away from getting married with a suit that I do not feel good in, do not feel proud of & am honestly embarrassed to wear on my wedding day. The employees and owner I worked with were all perfectly pleasant. My issue is not with their personalities or how I was treated. Rather that they simply could not fix a fitting problem without creating multiple new ones. At some point, being pleasant is not enough. The garment needs to be right. I expressed all of this directly to Jeff, the owner, when I left the store with the final version of the suit, and would still welcome any restitution for the experience. For example, I pointed out that the lapel was not sitting against my collar/neck properly. I also pointed out that the fabric was misaligned along the stitching on the back, causing it to ripple outward in a way that genuinely made it look like I had a hunchback. I was told it "just needs to be ironed." If it were simply an ironing issue, I would expect a company making a $2,135 custom suit to have ironed it before sending me home with it -- especially when that issue had been there from the very first adjustment meeting and I pointed it out separately at all five of them. I also had a friend come with me to multiple fittings & they independently noticed the same glaring issues. After all of that, I am left with a suit whose lapel sits roughly a half inch away from the back of my neck and shoulders, whose sleeves and elbows visibly bunch, and whose fabric creases so dramatically around my hips that it resembles a diaper. And this is not limited to the suit. The accompanying button-down shirt, which cost $180, is made from material that honestly feels inferior to what you could pick up off the rack at for half the price. The shirt also required 3-4 adjustment meetings just to get it to a point that was close enough to passable. I went into 9Tailors expecting a high-end custom suiting experience and gave them five months to get it right. I understand that custom clothing involves adjustments. I do not expect perfection. What I do expect, especially at this price point and with this much lead time, is for a company that specializes in custom suiting to ultimately produce a properly fitting garment. 9Tailors did not do that for me. Unfortunately, I will be wearing a suit I am not proud of on one of the most important days of my life. Instead of wearing it for 10+ years and having it memorialize a major life milestone, it will go into the back of my closet because I do not want to be reminded of the disappointment of this experience every time I put it on.

But all our married friends told us we were wrong and needed one. Now, we understand and are so happy to have hired Erin. Our wedding was super DIY and everything would not have come together so wonderfully without her. Erin juggled countless roles working 11.5 hours the day of the wedding to make sure everything went perfectly. She set-up our entire ceremony and reception space. For example, we handed her a pile of glass bottles and grocery stores flowers along with a rough sketch of what we wanted, and she turned that into these stunning centerpieces. She also coordinated with our various vendors throughout the day -- making sure they arrived on time and had everything they needed. During the wedding itself, Erin was toiling away behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly. She queued our ceremony music, directed guests during dinner, coordinated clean-up, and so much more. Erin has a great work process for making sure she has all the detail she needs the day of the wedding. All of that planning and organization enabled us to relax and just enjoy our wedding day knowing she had it handled. We wanted someone who would come in to execute our detailed vision, and Erin did that beautifully. However she's also able to help brainstorm and help organize the planning process if that's what you need. Hiring Erin was easily one of the best decisions we made and worth what we spent a million time over.

And much of what she did do was terrific and impressive. She's very organized and very energetic. I have concerns about recommending her however. She had some erratic behavior during the wedding as well as a weird inflexibility to adjust schedules or alter plans as it became clear they weren't working. The best examples: At one point I came up behind her during the dinner and touched her arm to get her attention. She spun around and yelled 'don't touch me'. This wasn't a #metoo moment. This was one woman lightly touching another woman on the shoulder. It was beyond an inappropriate response. It was abnormal. The ceremony and dinner went much more quickly than we had planned. People were done eating and at 8:00 they were just sitting, the party was losing energy with just quiet DJ music. Time for our band to start. I asked her to have them come out and start playing. She refused. Her stated reason being that 'the schedule' had them for 8:30. She claimed that the musicians were eating. I went and found them sitting and doing nothing, they were happy to play. (Even declining offered extra pay for the additional 30 minutes) Erin was clearly irate, whether at the usurpation of her authority or because she couldn't handle a change, I don't know but again, odd behavior and certainly not in the best interests of a fun wedding celebration. A third example. The ceremony took place outdoors facing a beautiful pond and garden. At the walkthrough the evening before, it became clear that the spot that had been selected months before and which Erin had marked out on the grass would result in the guests staring directly into the sun. It seemed obvious and a no-brainer that we wouldn't want to have people squinting and uncomfortable. I expected her to say 'oh no, you're right, let's figure this out'. Instead she just kept repeating 'this is what was planned, this is what was planned, it can't be changed, it can't be changed.' This was an especially ridiculous response in that the situation was easily remedied with only a slight movement of location and angle. I was fairly shocked that her immediate response was not one of problem solving, but rather intractability and irritation. I offer my experience with her as I saw it. I want to be completely fair because she did work very hard and overall did a very good job. She is clearly very competent but I did see things that were troubling.

Bella is an angel. About two months prior to my wedding, I took my wedding dress to another…read moreseamstress who not only was going to charge literally double for my alterations, but this other lady also didn't seem to know how to alter my dress correctly (the dress is very lacy and had intricate lace detail at the bottom). This other woman literally wanted to take shears and cut off the whole bottom detail and reattach it by hand, which is NOT what my BHLDN dress was designed to do for alterations. But thank god to my coworker who recommended Bella and thank god for Bella!! Thank goodness I was able to get my dress back from the other seamstress before she did anything to it and brought it over to Bella and she knew exactly what to do! She took the time to even button up the sheer button detail in the back of my dress to make sure everything fit in the back, on the sides, brought up the length of my dress, and was able to reattach the lace detail seamlessly. My dress also had a deep plunge which was way too open for my *ahem* assets, but she was also able to cover it over and blend all of the lace detail so well that it wasn't even noticeable at all! If you're in the area, I highly recommend Bella! She's just the sweetest and pays the most attention to detail, and was even able to do everything so well with a quick turnaround too.

I'm not sure how this establishment has as high of a rating as it does. I had brought my dress in 4…read moremonths prior to my wedding and it was the most frustrating experience of my wedding planning thus far. It took 5 fittings to have very basic alterations done and with very minimal changes between each fitting. By the 3rd fitting, I had called ahead of time as I was worried that nothing would be updated on the dress and I had to explain to her that there had essentially been no changes at the previous fittings. On the 4th fitting, what I thought was going to be the pick up date, the bottom of the dress hadn't even been hemmed yet and the bustle not even close to started. On top of that, at my final fitting the appointment was delayed 3 times that day, as the dress wasn't finished still and I had to wait there while she finished it. The alterations cost almost half the price of my dress and after spending closed to $1,000 they don't even steam or iron your dress/veil. I absolutely to not recommend coming here.
