This is a locally owned shop in charming downtown Hingham. It is well worth a visit. In the spirit of "shopping local" this holiday season in particular, a friend and I stopped in recently. They sell an array of very reasonably priced goods: clothes, outerwear, purses, totes, jewelry, knick-knacks. I think it would be pretty easy to find something pretty and fun for people on the average holiday shopping list. There are plenty of gift ideas for stocking stuffers too as well as items that might be nice as hostess gifts. I bought two "evil eye" necklaces here...one for me and one as a gift. The woman running the store was a sweetheart, chatting with us and offering help. They do gift wrapping here which is a plus. I plan to return next week to see if they have any additional items that might help me tick off a couple of more things on my holiday shopping list. It is definitely worth a visit. And if you haven't visited downtown Hingham, I think it's always a treat to do so. read more

And I never leave there without feeling satisfied with my readings. And the very last time I was there, she explained to me that not only was a healer, in a sense I could help other people more. She inspired me. I bought my first two sets of tarot cards. I bought a beautiful Wind-chime that I leave on my deck it hangs over my deck gardens. And I also I'm looking forward to taking some Reiki classes here . I'm sure many other classes I'll be interested into. I've also purchased several different stones that I carry with me in my pocketbook to protect me while I'm driving. I also put stones inside my zipped pillowcase to help me sleep and stay protected from darkness.. My favorite thing are my Sage and my cleansing candles alongside my protection spray that she recommended that smells wonderful and alongside my spirit guides protecting me, I do feel like the spray helps.. Every time I walk into Open Doors , I'm greeted with such welcoming individuals. You feel like you're home. They're right there to share stories or help you find what you need. If you've ever wanted to build your own radio, this is the place for you. There were also very cheap old PC components, perfect for restoration projects. There were fewer Apple components (as I would expect) but they were still very reasonably priced and in good condition for the most part. My only qualm was with the venders. For the most part they were kind and helpful, mostly nerdy in a charming way. There were, however, at least three instances where venders made very sexist, condescending remarks, such as "you should find a boyfriend who can teach you engineering," or "this isn't the place for a nice girl like you, with all these electronics!" Usually I could forgive this, and in all cases I informed them that I was in fact an engineer despite being a woman (a radical concept, I know), but in all cases, when I asked the prices of different components they gave me ones that were significantly higher than usual. I decided to do an experiment; I had my friend (a guy) go to one of the same venders and ask the price of the same component and the vender's price for him was lower (only by like two dollars, but still).

We have recently completed a major pool/patio area renovation. One of the first things we had to decide (out of so many things!) was the type of pavers we wanted for the pool apron and patio area. Our landscape/masonry company recommended Back Yard Living and Patti in particular. One can easily become overwhelmed at the sheer number of paver selections...various types and colors of stone abound. We took an initial walk through the store as well as outside where they have extensive examples laid out. We eventually narrowed things down but it was Patti who ultimately knew what questions to ask us and helped steer us to our final selection. The pavers and borders have since been installed and we couldn't be happier. We had to return to the store to decide on new pool coping. We hated the pool coping style that was there originially. There are a number of pool edges to choose from. We thought we wanted a flat edge but are happy we went with the "coastal cape design" that Patti showed us and recommended. We had a great experience here.

First of all, it's right off Jerusalem Road in Cohasset which is only like the most beautiful street in the world. Never been? Do yourself a favor and get in your car now and take a drive! Anyway, back to the farm. They have a few horses and chickens and goats, oh my. They have lots and lots of walking/hiking trails and you can bring your dog (though I shouldn't have mentioned that because now I've given away one of my secrets of places where you can take your dog that not everyone knows about). It's a functional vegetable farm and you can stroll through the grounds and see everything growing (when in season). You can also purchase all kinds of fresh produce here like lettuce, spring onions, heirloom tomatoes (and heirloom tomato seeds and/or plants as Emily mentioned) etc. More often than not, no one is there and you just take what you want and leave your $, a la the honor system. This is the kind of place that makes you forget you're only like 20 miles from a major city and really, where else can you find a farm that is across the street from the Atlantic ocean?
