Lydian Flash has earned my first Yelp review. If you are looking for an experience where the entire time you feel and know you chose one of the highest quality, most knowledgeable, safest, cleanest, and kindest Nail Techs available, then you should go to Lydian. She is a one-person operation in a small studio and you get her 100% attention and a very well controlled and maintained environment. You should not go if you are looking for a quiet beautiful spa atmosphere experience. She warns you herself, she is an educator (and a storyteller) and she talks the entire time. (No exaggeration). And the room is all business no frills. But I came to her for a toenail reconstruction not a spa experience so it was perfect for me. She really takes the time to educate you on everything she's doing and answers any questions you may have at length. You walk away feeling like you have a window into the other side of the veil of Nail Salon professional presentation from an expert's point of view. As for her obviously high caliber skills, she did meticulous work on me, explaining every step so that I can take proper care of my new toe nails. She built the product up in thin careful painted on layers. The end result is fantastic! I love it! She made me feel comfortable the whole time. Her handling and manner is neither forceful nor timid. She takes her sweet time -which is awesome unless you have to be somewhere- and she gets it right. And she's such a sweetheart. She even gave me a bonus nail polish at the end because she "wanted me to look down at my toes and smile". If you are curious about toenail reconstruction and the barefoot procedure, please call or write her and ask her questions. I did my thorough research before going to her. Only she and one other woman either of us knew of do this work in the Austin area. And the two of them are friends. I didn't even know that as a significant side benefit of the continued treatment , my toenail could start to grow normal on its own! She showed me before and after a of clients that had been with her for years and gave me a realistic chance at hope for nail Rehab. I've been wearing my new nails few a few days and went to my first yoga class in years where I didn't feel embarrassed to be barefoot. I'm so happy! Thank you. ***update*** I just had my follow up appointment with Lydian and this time we did a spa pedicure and I have to say that it's very different when she sets out to relax you and spoil you (rather than the educational experience). She is really great at the foot massage! Just as highly capable and competent as she is with everything else. And she turns the lights down and has you in peaceful dim quiet in a massage chair while you soak. So I have been going to Lydian for a few years now, so I thought that I should update my review! I only got acrylics with her once (back in '10)- which is the last time that I had acrylics because I've moved onto something better- Gel Manicures! I mostly get Shellac, but Lydian has other brands too (Gelish, OPI, and others.. don't remember specifics, though). They last the usual 2 weeks, and I usually get about 3 weeks before they start to chip. At which point, they get so grown out, that you want to update them, even if they last that long ;) Pedicures with Lydian are also awesome. She REALLY knows how to take care of your nails -cutting and shaping them perfectly. I sometimes have trouble with my big toe nails curling inwards, and she does a great job of keeping them in check. My pedicures last forever I also love how she takes her time to make sure everything is perfect. I love going to Lydian, and I look forward to keep going to her for years to come! read more

I found her on yelp and google reviews. Lydian had good reviews so I went for a toe nail reconstruction. I made sure to get the estimated price before hand. I was thinking the whole process would take an hr or so but it took more than 2 hours and thats because she talks about EVERYTHING. I told her I had a hard stop at a certain time and she still didn't finish by then. And when I was getting ready to check out she tried to sell me fungus medicine for my toes when I told her I didn't need it. I ended up buying it but I barely used it. I came across Lydian when doing a Google search for a LCN barefoot toenail reconstruction. Lydian is very professional and responds rather fast for appointments and questions. My first impression when meeting her is that she has a friendly, cute, and bubbly personality! She really cares about her clients and tries to educate them the most that she can about sanitation, safety, and any concerns you may have with your nails/toenails. Based on the amazing reviews, I was really excited to get my nails done here. It took several days to get an appointment, but I was expecting things to be well worth the wait. I was disappointed. My biggest complaint is that it took her 3 1/2 hours to put on an acrylic overlay. Yes she was very detailed, and explained EVERYTHING to me, but it still took 3 1/2 hours. I kept telling her that my boyfriend was waiting on me, and he even called and texted a few times while I was there. I had things planned for today that I had to reschedule. Not ok. For that amount of time, I would have expected my nails to be perfect, and they're not. They aren't bad, but it looks like a french tip that I would have given myself. My nails do not look like I had them done professionally. I'm actually looking forward to taking the polish off, which is really annoying since she charged me $50 for them. I did like that she was very knowledgeable about her trade. She used high quality products, and didn't use a drill on my nails. But let's just say, I won't be going back for my fill. UPDATE: I have reduced my rating by a star. This morning when I took my polish off, I saw that my right thumb is already lifting. It hasn't even been 24 hours. This lady knows and loves her job! I went to Lydian for IBX treatments because I finally grew out my nails after years of biting them, but they are so brittle and damaged from SNS that I break them easily. Lydian spent 2.5 hours repairing them with IBX, covering them with shellac, and giving me advice on how to break my habit and keep them growing. She explained things every step of the way on what she's doing and how I should be caring for my nails growing forward. She also does a great job of keeping a log of everything that was done and discussed so she can personalize each session. I would definitely be going back! read more

Dreadfully, I am a procrastinator, but I have been meaning to type this review for some time... I did some searching online for a place to get my nails done, and after much searching, I decided to try Lydian. I guess it was destiny, because she is the nicest nail person I have EVER been to! She was very gentle and caring, while explaining many things about nails to me that I was previously unaware of. She is very knowledgeable about what she does, and it shows! She is by appointment only, and that is excellent to me, because you are treated like an individual and not herded through like cattle. I was never uncomfortable the whole time, and could relax. She not only did an excellent job, but was wonderful to talk to as well. The price range is not cheap, so if that is what you are looking for, Lydian is not the one for you. However, if you are looking for a quality, sterile, safe, and relaxing place to go and get your nails done; this is the place! I will definitely be going back! :-D read more

I originally went to Lydian for a Shellac manicure and a pedicure. The pedicure was outstanding with perfectly shaped nails and applied polish which lasted well over a month! The Shellac manicure had my nails looking their best and lasted over 2 weeks. Lydian is extremely professional and knowledgeable. Her salon is impeccably clean and she takes the utmost care in sterilizing (Autoclave) and sanitizing everything! I'm very picky about this issue and it's rare to find a nail salon that sterilizes their tools for each client, takes the time to bleach the pedicure area, etc. I've now started IBX treatments because the nails on my hands are thin, weak, have ridges and peel. It's been a week since my first treatment, and I definitely see and feel improvements in strength, smoothness of ridges on the nail bed and nail edge, and not once have they peeled or broken. They're the prettiest my own natural nails have ever looked and I'm not embarrassed to have them seen! I highly recommend this treatment. My nail tech for 30 years went nuts and ditched me yesterday. I spent hours on the internet trying to find what I wanted ( small salon, natural nails only etc) I finally called Lydian and was lucky she had a cancellation for a mani-pedi. It was the best nail care I have ever had! I'm a retired flight attendant and have had my nails done all over the world! Lydian is an expert on everything nails! I have been getting my nails done since high school and have been to a lot of different salons. Lydian is by far the best nail tech I have been to. I always walk away satisfied with what I get. She is such a wonderful and lovely lady who cares so much about her clients. She has educated me so well on my nails along with giving me such beautiful shellac/gel manicures. She makes sure to have all of her tools sanitized, she even goes above and beyond with the autoclave. Her prices aren't the cheapest but I promise you once you go to her you will never want to go anywhere else! Lydian is the ONLY person I trust to do a pedicure! It is my treat to myself, and I can completely relax when I'm in her capable care. She is SUPER careful and almost OCD about cleanliness! She uses an autoclave and the latest in sanitation practices. My pedi will last for 5 weeks! I Highly recommend her, but you have to call well in advance because she books up so fast. read more
