This is my mom's normal nail place. When I am home to visit, I go there with her. This place is usually jam packed, but I have never waited more than a few minutes. Staff is friendly and efficient. Sadly this place has gone down hill tremendously. Years ago this was THE place to get a beautiful pedicure and no chip manicure. The facility was clean, the staff was friendly, and the quality of their work was top notch. That is no longer the case. The believe the main reason things have plummeted is because of the new owner. Today I had a pamper day, however I did not feel so pampered at the nail shop that I frequently visit on my massage days because it's right next door, and usually they are great, but today the customer service was out right horrible! The tech ruined my design, then proceeded to tell me that it was too late to take it off. I had to demand that it be revealed immediately! How can you tell a customer that they are just stuck with unsatisfactory work? Then this new girl @ the front desk was very catty & rude when all I did was ask her a question about my charges! I've been coming to Luxury Nails in Elmhurst, IL for over six years. The store was in great shape, everything ran smoothly. However, until recently with the new change in owner and manager, this salon has gone downhill. My original manicurist of six years quit because of the new management as did my replacement. I've gone back three times and have hated every single visit. Today's disrespect was the final straw. My technician, who I made an appointment with, didn't show up! I sat there waiting for my nail to get fixed for over 15 minutes before the owner and someone else did a half assed job. The owner filed the top of my no chip very quickly and very roughly and scraped off half the skin on my nail. She made it worse by putting a cotton ball with nail polish remover on it. The skin is STILL burning, and it's been four hours since my visit. My nail lady was late again and didn't even bother showing up. I waited for twenty minutes until the inept and stupid owner made someone else fix it for me. Am I not a priority? Am I not important? You guys are full of crap and have no idea how to manage a salon. You made my skin bleed. You left nail gel on my skin. The other tech who was told to fix my nail, dug her fingernail very hard into my skin. My nail still hurts. She did a horrible job and I HATE this salon. NEVER EVER go to Luxury Nails in Elmhurst. NEVER! They treat you like garbage and don't care about customer satisfaction. I never write reviews, but the disrespect from your staff during my visit today was it for me. Came in for a dipping powder. I had long nails, very long, so I asked the tech to cut my nails shorter and to keep the shape I have ( square with slightly rounded edges). First, the lady who did my nails was handling my hands very rough, I can't even describe how, I'll try my best: she was pulling on my hands, twisting my fingers fast and aggressive, instead of letting go of the hand she was rudely dropping my hand, also she managed to scratch me every minute with her own nails. Unpleasant- to say the least. Second, she filed my nails unevenly, where one side would be a lot longer then the other. I nicely asked her to fix it and she answered " your nails grow that way". I laughed, and said that I came in with long even nails and now my nails are uneven, also I asked her if she wants me to show how to file? She said "ok I see, later". She proceeded with powder. My nails ended up to be uneven and some nails were weirdly very thick. I have never had it before. After powder she filed my nails again, it became better but not fully even. I did not argue because I did not want to receive another short rude answer. Third, at the end she applied oil, missed some fingers. Then lotion, I can't call it hand massage, because lotion application lasted probably 5 seconds for both hands. Then she said we are done. I got up and went to pay. Receptionist did not check on the service and did not ask how was it. I already knew I will not be back. To pay $45 for somebody to abuse your hands, pull, drop, scratch them- no, thank you. My best friend and I came into this place at 5:30 to get manicures and weren't seated until 6:45. The nail technicians did a very quick job on our nails, and the massage was horrible -it was very rough. Might as well not given a massage, because I was just going through pain. My friends nails look like she didn't even get them done professionally -they didn't clean up the edges or nothing. We were about the first ones that walked in before the whole rush and yet we were the last ones to leave. The only reason we came to this nail salon was because I've been here before and I love their nail color selection, but after today I'm just going to buy my own nail polish and go somewhere else. I come here quite often on my lunch break for a quick manicure. I would say to request Rachel she is so sweet and precise. Walking in is a bit odd; theres hardly anyone there to greet you. I have been going to Luxury Nails for quite some time. I've always been satisfied with the service. I'm no cracked up that no one in there speaks English.. Last friday ((7/20/12) I went in for my usual NoChip manicure. I didn't care for the way the polish dried, it was streaked.. then by Tuesday, 5 of my nails had chipped. So I went in and asked to have them re-done. I HAD to have the same polish, even after I explained to the owner that the polish was defective. She would not accomodate my request to change colors. I will never go back there. HORRIBLE customer service.. doesn't matter how long you've been going there. There is a nail salon on every corner in the Suburbs.. Don't bother! Go somewhere else! I had been going to Luxury Nails for a couple of years. I have sent family members and friends. I go every two weeks, so I would say I'm a very good customer. Whenever I go, arriving 5-10 minutes before my appointment time, I am forced to wait for 15-30 minutes. My tech is always late! After a year of this, I complained to the manager and was told, "then come later in the day or get another tech." She told me that she understands when her techs are late and that "if you don't want to get pissed anymore, then go to someone else." I couldn't believe the manager would talk to me like that! I received a "no chip" french manicure -- paid $52 with tip -- and it was completely ruined in 4 days! Four out of my 10 nails chipped and completely broke off and the "no chip" nail polish totally bubbled and came off. I went there tonight thinking that if I showed them what happened they would apologize for the crummy manicure and offer to re-do it or give me a gift card. I have gone to many different nail salons in the area and this one is the best so far. The pedicures are definitely the best I've had, even though the "massage" usually sucks. All I want though is my feet to be soft and my nails to look nice and they get that done, so the massage part really doesn't matter. Also, I get no chip done here that lasts three weeks...they do a nice job. There was only one time I was not satisfied and when I went back a couple of days later, they re-did my nails for no charge. I just had the worse customer service I ever had in life! I am a international flight attendant I have traveled the world, what I just experienced was by far the WORSE! I went into this establishment on Saturday and got a fill in, pedicure, and my eyebrows waxed. On Monday all the polish on me hands and feet was coming off. I like Luxury Nails. They give, nice relaxing pedicures and don't rush you. However, on my recent visit the nail tech cut me near my cuticle and I bled during the entire pedicure. It got worse when I left because of the pressure of walking. She didn't even apologize. I still tipped 20%. The next day my toe was better but I'm probably never going back. I had a deluxe pedicure which cost $40. Stacey is excellent at her job. The deluxe pedicure included a foot soak, a sugar scrub, a parafin dip, and a hot stone massage. It took about an hour. But last night's experience has ended my relationship with that salon and I will NEVER go back. They really messed up with payment issues and use of my POINT CARD. Yesterday evening I went with a friend for a Super Deluxe Pedi, The girl who did my toes was OK, but she still did not do a thorough job on nail that is in grown. The girl/woman who was the 'tech' for my friend spoke Little if any English, that is where the trouble came in . . .this tech did a very poor job for my friend, and when it cam time to pay. The Illiterate Tech took my point card that was still sitting at the drying table and used ALL of my POINTS by applying them points to my friends bill. IWe went to the desk to correct the issue and the owners CLAIMED IT WAS MY FAULT, AND THAT IF I WANTED MY POINTS REINSTATED IT WOULD COST ME $15.00. I have been coming here for a few years now and will not be going back. I had a bad experience this past Saturday. I made an appointment the day prior for a manicure and pedicure. On my way to the appt. i got stuck in traffic and decided to call and let them know i may be about 5-10 mins late. (I have been going to the same nail technician who i really like) When i called to let them know, the receptionist named "MY" was very rude. When I arrived 5 minutes late i said that i would be ok with the technician doing one or the other if she could just do a no-chip. "My" walked away without saying anything, came back and reprimanded me in front of customers sitting in the chairs waiting. "You need to be specific when you call and make your appointment". Her face turned red and she raised her voice. I stared at her and thought to myself, did she really just yell at me?? Im a paying customer and have been coming here for 2 years minimum. They technician said to me "well, she is the manager and can say whatever she wants". VERY disappointed to say the least. I want to love this place, but I don't. I have taken my mom, my sister and my niece there for a couple of years to give them a chance, but it doesn't get better. The staff is pleasant and talks more to each other in a different language than they talk to you. Yesterday I went to try tips, Anne, the technician seemed so bothered by my questions. She would only answer in yes or no answers and was barely pleasant. She wasn't mean or rude but by no means was she friendly. I felt like it was a bother for me to be getting my nails done. Eeeesh! I went to this place because my friend first off gave me a gift card and secondly because she talks nothing but great things about this place. Wow was I amazed by how horrible I felt after leaving there. You walk in and are greeted by a tech that asks you to put your name on a waiting list and then you are welcomed by the smell of nail chemicals. I should have known right from the start and walked right out that door. However I didn't want to waste the money my friend spent on the gift card. They ask you to pick a polish and then take you back to the pedicure chair. I was offered a beverage, which was nice. I was asked to sit in the chair and as I was looking there were what looked like dirty stains on the back of the wall. Now I've worked in salons before and I know that in order to get stuff that far back onto the wall it means that they don't do a very good job in their sanitation practices. Again I should have just walked out the door. I should have known better. If the place doesn't practice good sanitation with the building then likely hood they don't with the tools they use on your feet and hands. When I sat in the chair and put my feet in the tube the water to my surprise was freezing cold (now you probably are thinking I'm a snobby lady that is just complaining about small stuff but when you read to the end you will see why I am giving this review.) I kindly asked the lady if she could warm it up and she rolled her eyes and had an attitude about it. I just sloughed it off like it was nothing and proceeded to get my toes done. 2 minutes into the pedicure she was already trying to upsell me and asked if I wanted to get a mani as well and I declined. Then she asked if I wanted a callus remover $5.00 extra. WAIT WHAT?!?!?!?! I thought that was part of the service. So I asked her and she said no you will get if you pay $5.00. Now in my experience in a salon and getting my nails done this has always been part of the service anywhere you go. So I told her no to just go ahead and do what is included in a regular pedicure. Not even 5 minutes later I was asked AGAIN if I wanted a mani and callus remover. I said no thank you. Then here is where it all went wrong. The women's attitude completely changed and she started to talk in a different language to here fellow coworkers and then they all started to laugh. I was beyond uncomfortable at that point. She was also very rough on my toes and actually made them bleed, she also pulled out a used scrub brush (which god knows if it has ever been sanitized and then once she was done she patted it down and put it back into her work station.) Now the massage, I'm at this point like get me the hell out of this place. She proceeded to give me a massage and it only lasted 2 minutes each side and no foot massage. I was like ok that's it I'm am done with this place and never coming back. I was literally in her chair for 15 minutes total from start to finish, it took me longer to write this review than it did for the pedicure. Once you are done they are sure quick to get you up and under the dryer and collect their payment. I never ever write bad reviews but after this experience I will never ever go back again. And if the owner of this place reads this please take a word of advice. CLEAN YOUR PLACE AND TEACH YOUR TECHS SOME CUSTOMER SERVIES SKILLS. Thankfully this didn't cost me anything or I would have been even more upset. I am sticking with my normal place in Lombard where they appreciate your business and make you feel amazing. Preface - I used to do nails @ a Viet salon for 3 years. Because I used to do nails I'm super picky. Since moving back home to Chicago from S.D. I've had nothing but bad luck at every nail salon I've gone tom until Luxury Nails! I drove 20 + minutes to get here based on reviews by other users here on Yelp. So thanks girls! I've been waiting to review, until I've gone here at least 3 times. Note: I've only gotten pedi's here so I can't review their mani's or acrylics. 1: they have 3 types of pedicures. 2. even the base pedicure ($25) comes with Hot Stones and Hot towel wraps. 3. I got both the medium (I forgot what they call it) and the top of the line one. Medium one $40, deluxe $45. I'd say just save yourself the $5, they're basically the same thing. 4. They all took at least an hour, and I think they spent a lot of time on the massage, which I'm there for. 5. Make sure you allot at least an hour just for the pedicure, so if your in a rush, probably not the place for you. 6. They don't speak a ton of English, but the girl (Tina) understood what I was asking for, I have an ingrown nail on my big toe, and she didn't try to yank it out, or butcher me. She clipped the corner and filed. I feel great, a week later. Also, I picked this color that ended up looking like I had some sort of fungus on my toes... NOT the look I'm going for, and she didn't dig it either, so she went back and found a really great OPI blue color that's ROCKIN'! 7. I didn't have and appt. walked in at around 2PM on a Sat. with my sis who was in from out of town, they said they'd take us in 15 mins. Not bad! PS. there's a Bath and Body a few doors down, so we just went in and checked out some candles. Killed the 15 mins. 8. My sis who hates having her feet touched, LOVED IT! And is now going to look for a place in SD. I'd say check it out. Each girl I've had, has done a great job. First time here and wow, not even close to what I expected after reading the other reviews. I don't have high expectations when I go for a pedi on a Saturday but this was one of the worst ever (and I've had a LOT). First off, the water was cold when I put my feet in the bowl and when I asked the woman to add some hot water she basically ignored me. I asked again and she added a little but the water never got even warm. She was so rough with the trimmers that she nicked my cuticles twice and got so far under my nail that they still hurt hours later. I paid extra for the callous treatment and while I loved the fact that she was actually working to get my feet smooth, she kept yanking my leg up and down and when she finished shook all of the dead skin from the towel back into the water bowl with my feet. Disgusting! After that was washing the tools she used IN THE BOWL WHERE MY FEET STILL WERE using ice cold water. A pathetic little massage followed and then she slapped the polish on so poorly that I will be redoing it myself at home. The only pro I can add is that the massage chairs were great. The last time I went in they asked if I filed them myself....yes...but now they said I had compromised them and they had to be removed and put back on....all if them. More money for them I figured and since I have the same nail file as them and dremmel tool, I did exactly what they would have done. They said I had to take them all off, I refused and walked out. I used to get my nails done here. The last no chip I got done here was an absolute shit job. When I went back in less than a week later, my nails had turned from gray to a brownish black. I wanted my nails redone because I had paid $35 for a no chip that was not what I paid for. The lady in charge told me that it was my fault that my nails turned that color. She told me that it was from a suntan lotion I had used. Excuse me? It's the middle of winter, and I am as pale as can be. I haven't used any suntan lotions because it's 5 degrees out, and I don't go tanning, which is pretty obvious by the color of my skin. So they refused to redo my no chip for me, and I let them know that that is bullshit, and I will never go here again. So if you enjoy overpaying for a service that won't even last a week, luxury nails in elmhurst is the place for you!
