Worst pedicure I have ever received! The service was very rushed and the nail tech didn't seem to know what she was doing. Apart from telling me they won't have time to do gel I agree to regular clear coat.. the lady rushed using the scrub ( rubbed it on 1x then wiped it off right away) and same for the lotion. I could have gotten the same results doing my pedicure at home but, I was looking for a new place and DEFINITELY WILL NOT return here. I love this nail salon! The women who work here are always friendly and work quickly without rushing. It's bright and clean and always has lovely, relaxing music playing. I feel like the world outside stops and I have a chance to relax and breathe when I come in here. I love that they don't do acrylics because there's no toxic odor when you walk in and no nail dust covering every surface like you'll find in other salons. They stock Essie and OPI polishes (both reg and no-chip) and an upgrade to Dazzle Dry topcoat, which ensures my regular mani stays flawless for close to 2 weeks. My last review of 2021 for me goes to Stella's! After driving by this strip mall location dozens of times and throwing away advertised specials in the local mailers over the years, I finally decided to give it a try instead of going to my usual place 15-20 min away. I pulled up to their door around 2:30p and noticed there were a handful of people being serviced but there was a sign that said walk ins welcomed so I did. I'm doing so, I quickly learned appointments are preferred, meaning, immediately upon entering, I was asked if I had an appointment which I said I did not. I was told the wait would be about 30 minutes, so I said ok and left with a plan to come back. Then, I decided to schedule time for both a no chip mani and pedicure and confirm both could be done. The time then slid back to 4:30p. This didn't pose much of an issue because I live a few stones away. I returned home over waiting inside a smaller indoor space with 8+ people. I am deducting a star because of a polish snafu and my overall pedicure experience with Jane. I'll start by saying it was a three star pedi and on par with every other pedi I've had at any other salon but, after looking to my left and right to see Mimi and Stella perform the same service, I knew I was a bit short changed. That said, the same products were used but FAR more attention paid were paid to their work, including heels, the massage, and hot stones. I didn't get a leg massage outside of the hot stones which I barely felt. Now to explain the color fiasco. Jane handed me two color wheels of painted nails, about 12 colors to choose from and said pick one. I stared at the limited options somewhat disappointed but chose one of the for both my nails and toes. Before she could polish my toes, Mimi opened the no chip bottle and said something. She then stepped in to polish my toes with regular polish. Unfortunately, I learned AFTER my toes were polished and my mani service was underway that I needed to choose a new color because they couldn't use the matching no chip polish. Then, I received two baskets filled with color wheels. Weird I know. I picked 3 and only one was closest to my toe color. Mimi painted all 3 on and we agreed on one that did not match my toes. Moving on, the mani was wonderful and quite different than other salons in that better products are used and great attention is paid to every aspect of the service. I was even given a hand lotion as a Christmas gift! (Trust me though, with winter, all of the hand washing and sanitizer used these days, Vaseline has been on deck---- lotion is window dressing and not enough moisture. LOL). In terms of pricing, it's about $5-12 more for both services when compared to competitors but without question a better experience overall even though my pedi service was average. Items of note: 1. Make an appointment. 2. Be prepared to sign in and immediately wash your hands. 3. The ladies prefer gratuity in cash but it can be paid by card if you're without cash. 4. If returning, the membership/gift card purchase is a better buy. You save $15 on a $100 ($100 for $85). read more

Never ask if I just wanted regular pedicure or not, started putting stone on me and another thing which I never asked for. Had to say 3x to not cut my nails anymore. It should consist of cuticles and other things as well. all I got was File and polish. If you're going to charge $20 for a manicure it should be a full manicure. Baffled by these reviews and I don't understand how this has 5 stars. This spa isn't particularly clean, the staff are nice but they told us to come for a 10:30 appt and when we arrived it was clear this wasn't happening. After removal of paint, my nails were filed to cubes and I had hangnails from the cuticle removal. I stopped her from doing anything more. My sister waited 45 mins for her technician and by that time I wasn't going to do a service and she was frustrated. Also they advertise Dazzle Dry, but there is no dazzle dry paint- they only do undercoat and top coat with it and that's false advertising. Never ever ever again. read more

When you get both a mani and pedi often times you will have two technicians working on you at the same time, which I LOVE as it cuts back on time at the salon a lot (yep I'm a busy person!). Unlike other salons, my big toes don't hurt for a week after my pedi, as they cut back too much,.... paraffin ankle treatments come with the pedi, as do hot towels, black hot stones and a special top coat with a regular mani. It's $25 for a regular mani, $55 for a pedi and regular mani and $70 + for a regular pedi and no-chip mani, approximately. You'll get your relax moment in with this place, which is what I want when going in. And sorry Michelle, you're not my favorite as you are rougher than the others, which I don't care for. read more

I had to be in the burbs today and was looking for a quick manicure on my way back to the city. From the outside it's very unassuming and a place I would have probably normally driven right by, but I called and got an appt about 20 min later. So glad I did! It's very clean and organized and felt oddly comforting, like "home". It's like if your grandmother had a nail salon, and I mean that in the best way possible. Great selection of both regular and no chip colors. Stella was super sweet, overseeing things anschecking in on everyone. Sue did my nails and was great, meticulous yet worked at a good pace. I don't like my nails buffed because it makes them too weak so it can be hard to get the polish smooth, but Sue did a pretty good job. Stella saw my $10 tip on a $25 mani and thanked me more than once for it, just the sweetest person. There were a couple of little girls getting mani/pedis with their mom and after they were done, Stella brought out a little tray of adorable kid rings (I've seen them on Amazon) and let the girls each pick one, they were so happy. I went to Stella Nails and Spa for a regular pedicure with a no chip french manicure. The staff was very welcoming and greeted both my friend and I with big smiles. The customer service was great, just what I was hoping for. However, the pedicure went smoothly but the manicure wasn't quite what I expected. I emphasized that I wanted a stronger nude undertone before the white french tip went onto the nail. She said she understood and proceeded with everything else with the manicure. Unfortunately, it ended up being just a no-chip french tip, which isn't what I had originally asked for. After I left the appointment, the no-chip started chipping about 4 days afterwards whereas no-chip shouldn't be affected until close to 2 weeks dependent upon activity. I don't know if I'd return but I loved the customer service and they had great pedicure packages! Prices are reasonable. read more

Five stars is NOT enough for this place !!! I went in there and literally they treated me like a celebrity or something. The service is absolutely incredible! They are a bit pricey but it's worth it. I don't do a lot of reviews in general, but I had to review this place!!! My mom was visiting from out of state and wanted to treat me and my daughter to pedicures. I have only had one pedicure in my life and wasn't sure where to go. I looked on here and found this place. The 3 of us walked in and they only had 2 chairs available. We said we would wait so all 3 of us could sit together. We sat in a bench waiting. Stella, the owner grabbed a soft cushy chair for my mother to sit on, she's a bit older and it was so kind of her to do this! Then it was out turn, we decided to go with the Spa Pedicure, it came with a scented lavender water (you can choose your scent), calf massage, hot stone massage, paraffin wax treatment and then of course the normal pedicure stuff with painted toenails. Oh and don't forget the massage chairs....ahhhhhh so relaxing! All 3 ladies who helped us were so kind and and really made the experience amazing! This was my daughters first pedicure (she's 15) and she said it was the best day ever! We did have to wait 30 minutes before they were able to take us, but it was worth every minute of the wait! And also received a punch card... Buy 8 services and then get a free manicure. They have good magazines (current copies of People) and good shows on TV (the Voice). Me and my girlfriend decided to go to Stella Nails thinking it was a nice place because of the 4.5 rating. As we get there and the manager is very welcoming and the place seemed pretty clean. Our pedicures were done pretty well but our manicures were horrible. My girlfriends tech was very aggressive and just wanted to get it over with. She wasn't listening to my girlfriend one bit. Overall your nails came out completely different then what we asked for. We asked for a simple clear polish on 4 of the 5 nails and a rainbow on our ring fingers. Based on previous reviews, I decided to check out Stella's. I was attending a wedding on Sunday, so I stopped in on Thursday. The salon was clean and the staff was nice. I was offered water or tea, which was a great bonus. I was paired with a young-ish gentleman for a pedicure and no chip French manicure. He took his time on both, though his technique felt a little inexperienced to me. A few days later, I can tell that perhaps he is still training. My pedicure was chipped by Saturday and my no-chip manicure looks over a week grown out. He didn't paint the edges of the nails in either case which, in my opinion, is the key to the professional appearance of a manicure or pedicure. It is possible that another technician might do a better job, however. They gave me some cute sandals on my way out because it was my first time there. I'd have preferred better quality service. Update: About a week after writing my review, I was contacted by the salon manager. She generously offered for me to come in to try out another no-chip manicure with a different technician. I went back and am glad that I did. The owner did my manicure herself and was even able to save a nail that was badly broken very low in the nail bed. She offered tea and when I told her it was the best green tea I'd ever had, she sent me home with some. We talked about our kids and families and she did a wonderful manicure as we chatted. I really appreciated the fact that they care about the customer's experience so much that they wanted to make it right. read more

UPDATE: I wanted to put the update first, because Esther and Sera went above and beyond to make things right from my experience described below. In fact, Esther, a manager, offered me a pedicure as well as a no-chip manicure as a way to let me know how much they wanted to earn my business. I went today, and everything was perfect. Sera did both services, and they were perfect! A good soak, excellent clean-up, and a good scrubbing and foot rub with lotion. Polish was nicely applied as well. I don't know if this is the usual for a regular pedi, but Sera used hot stones as part of the massage :) and paraffin for my heels as she polished my toes and did my no-chip. Then the no-chip manicure. Sera repaired my nailbed crack better than most people, especially given she had never worked on my nails before. Honestly, that nail is the one reason I get no-chips, to keep that nail looking good. And now my nails look great. Plus, the experience included collagen gloves during the manicure, a great massage with lotion, and a very nice neck massage after. I really wish my first experience wasn't so bad. But Esther knew how to make it right, and I'll definitely be back. I'll just remember to ask for Sera or Esther. Original post: I needed a no-chip manicure while my regular place underwent remodeling. I've been to a fair number of places in Elmhurst, so when I read the amazing reviews of Stella's, I thought this could be the place. I was wrong. When I walked in, there was an overwhelming, unpleasant (at least to me) food smell. I was a little put-off but whatever. A young man did my manicure and while he did a decent job cleaning up my cuticles, I had the weakest and shortest hand massage; plus, it was after the cuticle cleaning but BEFORE he put on the polish. I have a nail bed crack that requires a dot of acrylic or nail glue to make sure the nail doesn't crack as it grows, and the tech had no clue what to do with it. He put an enormous amount of glue on it, so much that I repeatedly asked him to file it down so it didn't look like an acrylic grow-out. As for the polish job, I noticed when I was paying that there was what looked like debris on one nail's polish -- like maybe there was dust on the polish brush. I already had a headache from from smell and just wanted to get out of there. But not before I noticed the extreme dryness on my hands from the no-chip and the various chemicals. Today, just four days later, the polish looks dull and half of one of my nails is already chipped off. Oh, and that neck massage everyone else raved about? Non-existent for me. Needless to say, I am not going back. I cannot wait for my regular place to re-open. read more
