I wish I had listened to the recent reviews. I've been here in the past, and it was nothing like it is now. Stay away. Completely unsanitary, the guy doing my pedicure was rushing so much. He scratched my ankle. all up, half of my nails were cut at an angle instead of straight, no lotion was used at the end of the pedicure. I waited to pay for about 20 minutes, started to leave when someone finally walked up. I asked if they had some Neosporin or some thing to put over the scratches before I left and they just acted like they didn't understand what I was saying. Another woman was here complaining to the manager, asked if the tools were sterilized. They lie and tell her they are. I paid $71 for a pedicure & fill in here and left a $17 tip = $88 total l, spending over 2.5 HOURS only having to get my nails fixed the very next day. I went to COCO Nail Bar in Downers Grove and they could not believe how horrible my nails were! I even had a cuticle cut on my right hand middle finger!! I loveD this place and the nail tech, Emma, who usually does my nails. I've not yet had a set that wasn't absolutely gorgeous and everything I ever wanted, as far as looks go. That being said they're NOT adhering to all safety guidelines when it comes to disposal/sanitation of intrusments. They're also dishonest about products being used. Z Nail Spa uses the same files/buffers on different customers which is against Illinois regulations for salons. My advice to anybody still willing to go is to mention it to them, as well as bring your own file, buffer, and anything else that potentially may have been used on somebody else. For the people who are unfamiliar with difference between Gel & Acrylic: Gel is NEVER in powder form. Gel looks like gel, and acrylic looks like powder. If they tell you it's gel and it's a powder they are lying to your face and taking advantage of your lack of knowledge. It's better to just find a new salon, which is what I'm doing now. Overall my review would be significantly higher if it wasn't for these major issues. I don't appreciate unsanitary and dishonest salons, even if the tech seems genuine. This has brought me to the decision to discontinue my patronage to this salon. read more

I had an exceptional visit this last time I visited! I went on a Wednesday when it wasn't very busy and had great conversations with the staff. Chloe is awesome. She was looking to make sure all of my nails were okay before putting polish on. If they weren't she glued them together where they were broken. I love this location merely for the fact that they put the polish close to the edges and they have a 14 day guarantee on their no chip polishes. I also had a deep conversation during my service and I felt appreciated instead of like they're talking about me. Whenever anything was said they translated what they were saying. I was riding down Roosevelt and spotted a Big red banner "Under New Management" Pedicure Special $18.00 smaller print read regular polish only. I walked in and was ready to get my feet dolled up. The young girl at the front desk acted a bit confused when I told her I wanted the $18.00 pedicure. Now there is a Big Red Banner outside the shop along with other sign up on the wall when you walk inside. She told me the special had expired a week ago. No, sorry but not sorry. I will not be paying not one dollar more for what is displayed and advertised outside. I see all the wonderful yelp reviews and thought to myself is this the same place. My vibe was totally different and I totally didn't get the exceptional service. They had me waiting for 15 to 29 minutes before someone started on my pedicure. Once they saw I was about to dry my feet and put on my shoes. Someone magically appeared. Poor customer service, false banner sign and unprofessional attitude. HORRIBLE nail service. I was fortunate to have a good pedicure, however, my finger nails are horrific. I asked for a design and what I got was a joke. They wanted me to pay $72 for the services they had given me. When I asked to have them redone with just one solid color, one of them started huffing and yelling. Then she proceeded to be aggressive while redoing my nails. I let her know she cut me and said nothing. She proceeded to cut the skin off from where she cut me. Throughout her redoing my nails she would laugh and tried to tap my arm twice. I had to tell her to stop touching me. I have no idea how I contained my anger so well. The only thing I wanted to do was get out of there!! Another worker gave me a $10 off coupon for my next visit. I also had my upper lip waxed and they did a quick, painless job. I was offered bottled water during the pedicure and a back massage while my feet dried! Witnessed the pedi tools reused on the person next to me and didn't clean the chair. The nail tech couldn't file my nails straight and had to ask several times. I went to Z Nails yesterday I was getting a no chip... my regular girl was our of town so I decided to try them...number one this guy has owned this place for a few years on the sign it said under new management i know because I use to go there...LIE! Number three...the person who did my nails did a TERRIBLE JOB my nails looked better when I walked in!!!! She didn't polish my nails all the way to the cuticle the nails look like BUBBLES!!! Now I try to call the owner today and he told me she's his "best worker and hard to get help" I know it's tough times right now but this guy would NOT let me come in so he can fix them...PLUS they charge $2 to use my card and charged me $3 to take off the old polish!!!! I accidentally set up an appointment with them (thought I was calling LC Nails) but I couldn't have been happier with the service. The first time I booked with them, the owner was so attentive and even called me back to confirm my service time. Who does that anymore?! Inside, the staff was very attentive and nice. The service was excellent, too. I've had fills where my nails were so thick, and both times I've gone they did great, just the right thickness to look natural but still be strong. The pedicures were also amazing. Prices are fair, but know that everything is an add-on (french, fixing tips, etc) but this is pretty standard. Also, bring cash, there's a $2 surcharge for credit cards. Overall, great salon, I'm happy that I've found a new nail place!! read more

This medium sized salon has been here forever but only recently we moved closer to be able to pop in. Today was my 2nd visit and I am very pleased with both of the pedicures I received! Nice selection of colors and polish lasts longer than most! When I have went other places, I have been turned away because they were short staffed but came into Z both times on a whim and only a had a very short wait! Hands down.. Best pedicure I've ever had! The massage was the perfect long amount of time!! Omg I almost fell asleep it was so amazing! I like the fact that even though they are extremely crowded (because their amazing) they still take their time! I hate places that short you on the massage portion and I hope they don't turn into that type if place. Never change. =)) Their prices are great and are the same as any other place you would walk-in in the area. However, this place is just a better, clean, chic feeling inside. Let me start off by saying that this shop has very nice decor and is very feminine. However, I visited this shop yesterday to get a gel fill-in and pedi, but must have caught my nail tech on a bad day. She was very rough with the fill-in. She burned my nail SEVERAL times when cleaning my nail up for the fill. Then when she was shaping the name, she consistently filed in the same area causing it to burn again. My cuticles look damaged and they burned when the primer was applied. 2nd, I went here because, by the pics, it looked as though they knew how to do the ombre design. When I got there, I told them that I only wanted it on my ring fingers. However, my one request seemed to cause a lot of talk (in their language) and confusion to the point that my nail tech acted like she was frustrated from them explaining it to her. When I got my pedi, I felt like it was rushed and the tech cut me with the cuticle remover. By the time it was over my nails were dry enough for them to do the ombre, which was done by the original woman I talked to when I walked through the door. It looks ok, but not blended well enough. Lastly, my original tech thinned out my overlay so much, that it chipped on the end. I haven't done anything today but wash my hands...when I was leaving my tech appeared out of no where to say goodbye, but did it like she was waiting on a tip not knowing I put one on my card already dispite the service. I'm in town for work and stopped in to get a regular manicure. The gentleman who did it was so meticulous. He really took his time to ensure it was perfect. Maybe I'm use to going to nail factories where they try to push you out as quickly as possible, but this was an extremely relaxing experience! For only $12, I will be back next time I'm in town.
