Not as good as usual. I've eaten at Lux many times. It's always decent and often very good. Tonight, I ordered the Hot Beef Manhattan. A while later, we were told they were out of roast beef :( I changed to the Turkey Manhattan. The turkey itself was tender but the mashed potatoes were thin, the gravy lacked flavor and the meal was barely warm. Generous portions, reasonable price and quick service. Extensive menu, lots of options and breakfast served all day. The gyros are large and were decent with fresh toppings. Lux is one of the best breakfast and lunch options in Goshen. They offer a diner-like vibe and huge plate portions. The atmosphere is loud, you can hear the kitchen working and since it is always busy there's lots of conversations going on from customers. If you go for lunch, practically every lunch option comes a bowl of soup and I highly recommend their tomato basil soup. It's one of my favorites! Sometimes for lunch I'll order just the soup to go. Plate sizes are huge and since it comes with soup I'm usually always taking half of my meal home. So go with an appetite! The problem isn't the food, food is great at Lux but the service has always been terrible (main reason I hadn't come back in years) both of the hostesses were rude just as I remembered from my last visit so I decided to walk out and never come back. After church, my stepmom is out of town, so dad decides Lux Cafe is a good spot -- the huge menu will please me (omnivore and culinarily adventurous), him (mostly eats vegetarian) and my brother (meat-and-potatoes kinda guy). This place is very similar to the "Greek" diners that dot Chicagoland and so it felt familiar to me. Breakfast all day, gyros and burgers and wraps and soup and so forth... not much atmosphere, busy and crowded. I had a gyros scramble (eggs, gyro meat, feta, potatoes, tomato, onion) and coffee; my brother had a burger, my dad had a veggie wrap. The guys' meals came with soup. There was exactly one choice of soup: creamy chicken and rice. I think my dad would've been happier with a vegetarian option and it surprised me a little that that was THE only choice. But he ate it because that's the kind of guy he is. My scramble was tasty but more like a fritatta or open-faced omelet than a "scramble" (I was expecting curds of egg, big chunks, not a round flat thing). The coffee was reasonably good. Service was slow (took a long time to get our order taken; the waitress seemed busy but not so busy she couldn't have checked in a few more times) and we originally got the wrong check. But the prices are pretty low and the food was pretty good. So a solid three stars it is, for breakfast and a big menu in Goshen. read more

We have eaten here twice and would probably not return. In seems to be a popular place but I must not be ordering the right items from the menu. This time I had the all you can eat fish special for lunch. It was $7.95 and included fries and cole slaw. The fries and cole slaw were good but the fish was mediocre. They were thin pieces maybe 1/4 inch thick with mostly breading. My wife had the fish sandwich which came with fries and a bowl of soup for $5.95. She was disappointed that the fish was just a square fish patty and not a filet. She liked the fries and said the soup was ok. Service was fine and quick. read more

We like to stop here for a meal when we are in Goshen. The portions are quite generous and we have found we can depend on the food being good. It's also nice to grab a breakfast later in the day if you wish. The service is ok, not always the quickest. At our last visit the waitress was rather abrupt, had a very flat effect and basically tossed things on the table when she served, literally dropping the plates, etc, sending my husband's hamburger bun flying over on the table. No apology or offer to replace. The restaurant was also not busy, only about 4-5 tables with customers at the time. The hostess/checkout lady was also very cold, had an attitude like we were bothering her, and did not even say thank you; which has happened on several occasions. We are clean, never leave a mess, and are considerate customers; we also tip very well... however the last time I only tipped a minimum. I would give them five stars if they could have provide some basic customer service training to their staff. read more

They offer several styles of eggs Benedict. I tried the potato and it was excellent. I usually order eggs benedict without the muffin because I'm allergic to wheat. This potato version of eggs Benedict came with delicious potato cakes instead of the muffin. The rest of my party seemed to have pretty nice looking breakfasts.
