There is NO ONE like Lutunji! The most caring, kind, welcoming soul with infectious spirit. Being greeted by Tunji is the best part of coming here - besides her incredible sweets and desserts! She is best known for her peach cobbler jars - you can get them here, or at some local grocery stores. They're the perfect personal sized dessert! I especially love that she offers a handful of gluten-free and vegan options besides her gooey delicious classics. I love her coconut GF desserts. There's quite a bit of seating here too, so you can grab coffee or breakfast/lunch and work here or meet up with folks. It's bright and welcoming with some comfy seating options. I always thought everything here was vegan since I've seen Lutunji at Veg Fest but once I got my goodies and started imbibing I realized that just "most" of their items are gf or df. Not sure if the peach cobbler had dairy free whipped cream or not but I didn't get sick and it tasted so good so no complaints here! I ordered a matcha with oat milk and got the blue kind in a clear cup, so cute and tasty. They gave me a to go cup after I couldn't finish all of it before they closed, very friendly and kind. Stopped by on a Sunday while out running errands with my mom. It was my mom's first visit but she knew Lutunji from back in the day so it was an extra warm welcome when we walked in. We ordered: * House Special Paris Peach Latte * Blue Chai Latte * Banana Pudding (added caramel) * Banana Bread Everything was really good! I especially loved the peach latte & banana pudding!! Came here on a Tuesday morning because I needed somewhere to kill time. Lutunji is so lovely and chatted with me in between getting the place ready for the day. I ordered a chai tea latte with almond milk and a fully vegan "egg" and seitan croissandwich. Lutunji threw in some vegetables for me and served it with mango dipping sauce. Everything was delicious, as well as affordable compared to other places in Minneapolis. There's a reading area with a bookcase full of free books that anyone can take. Most (or all?) of the books are by Black authors. Most are children's books, but there were a couple titles for adults as well. When Lutunji saw me reading Their Eyes Were Watching God, she told me they had hosted a book group and open mic around the book. Unfortunately I'm from out of town, but if I were local I could see myself becoming a regular here. read more

This place caught my eye because of the name as I was driving by going to my destination. I pointed it out to my wife and the colors and vibrancy that was observable drew us in. My wife looked it up and read the story and we just had to make a visit. When we were done with our planned activities we went back but it was closed, so we came back the next morning and we're glad we did. It's beautiful inside and out. It's welcoming and it's a peaceful place to come to. Then we met Lutunji, we got to know her story and history. Anyone would enjoy conversing with her and hearing her passion and joy to bake. Then Lutunji told me she had peach cobbler! Done deal, sign me up. My wife grabbed the banana pudding and a croissant bacon and egg breakfast sandwich. My son grabbed a jarritos. The flavor was absolute perfection. Lutunji even took a picture with us and told us to take some of the free books in the library section of the store. When the owner tells you that she doesn't just let anyone make her peach cobbler and that she prays over every jar she makes, you know you're bout to eat a real treat, and you know this peach cobbler is legit. Words cannot describe the flavor, because she heated it up and topped it off with whipped cream. My wife apparently wanted me to wait to eat the peach cobbler for a photo op with Lutunji, but I either didn't hear her or didn't understand her cus I ate it and enjoyed every single spoonful. read more

Fun, bright, accessible dessert bakery for anyone with a sweet tooth. I brought home the peach cobbler, which was amazing. Anyone looking for a fresh dessert should stop by. The location was easy to get to. I biked there, and bike parking was easy. It is also close to a bus line, so no need to drive if you live in the city. I would highly recommend checking out this area of Minneapolis and stopping by. The shop is cute and full of natural light, so whether you are taking out or eating there, you will enjoy your visit. Not only was the service great, but the owner is so joyful to be sharing her passion with everyone. We're on a visit to Minneapolis and stopped into here on the advice of a friend, who will definitely have their recommendations heeded from now on. A bakery that create delights both in vegan and non-vegan versions, able to work in gluten-free treats (macaroons, coconut cake bites, oreo cheeze cake!) along with killer peach cobbler, cookies, and brownies. Lutunji's Palate was clean and bright on a cold day. We came for lunch and the sandwiches were just as good as the baked goods. This will be our regular for Minneapolis visits. read more

I am very particular at eating at public places. It has to be clean first and foremost, but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in for the very first time that not only a woman of color has a successful business going on, but this place is clean, fresh food, and a variety. I am a pescatarian and the cook made me a vegetarian breakfast sandwich with with everything on it grilled it seasoned it. It was awesome and I mean awesome I highly recommend this place. I also may add that I was able to pick up some books for my granddaughter that people of color have authored and one of them comes with a free doll, which is just adorable. One star because the beet brownie is really delicious, but entirely overpriced at $8. I agree with the previous reviews about the sweet potato pie - not done and not good. And unfortunately, the peach cobbler that they're famous for is just mush. Major catering fail - food was late, items were missing, service was terrible from start to finish and a bad value compared to other local caterers - you can get much better food for the price. Coffee is way too strong. Paint colors are uncoordinated and too loud for a coffee shop - clearly a professional interior designer was not employed. Chairs are uncomfortable and tables are small. Owner does not take feedback well - very defensive. Their high prices demand first class customer service, but they're not bringing it. It's a solid no for me. read more

So I'm walking buy looking for a place to grab a pop or a smoothie. I come across this place but they were closed. Before I could walk away the a lady shows up and asks, "are you trying to get in there?" I told her yes and she ended up being the owner!! Although they were closed she invited me and gave me a few options of her baked goods to try. The flavors coming from the food I had been giving was incredible. She offers sandwiches, smoothies, vegan products, pops, and lots of vibes. The place looked so nice, it smelled nice, and also just felt like a great place to be. The owner is such a nice woman and we ended up talking about her son, some of her goals, and a few other things. I'm giving this restaurant my stamp of approval. If you haven't visited this place know that she offers her products at markets which you can find on her website. We love supporting local businesses and this place is worth it!!!!! read more

Great addition to the neighborhood! Coffee is affordable and delicious, I love the lattes. Sometimes inconsistencies between sweetness of drinks but I think that has to do with who is making them. Lutunji is so kind and lovely. I'm a meat eater but sometimes enjoy trying new things, and their vegan seitan sandwich was one I loved and would absolutely get again.
