Ate at this restaurant on the first night of our Beaufort visit. We picked a spot on the back porch thinking it would be the perfect spot to look out over the water. Big mistake! It smelled like cigarette smoke. The food was mediocre and it took us an 1 1/2 from the time we ordered to receive our food. We ordered an appetizer that took forever and it was delivered to our table without plates, napkins, flatware, etc. and then our waitress disappeared. Getting drinks was also slow. When I requested a beer list, our waitress told us that they are switched up so frequently that they are hard to find. A beer list?! Wouldn't you just print up and have available nightly for customers? Also asked about their different wines and she said she didn't know because she doesn't drink. We ordered a cheese pizza off of the kid's menu and was told that it would take a long time because they have a small pizza oven and there were 6 pizzas ahead of us. Instead of the pizza, we ordered the kid's grilled cheese which was delivered to our table 5 minutes after the rest of our food. Really, a grilled cheese took longer than crab cakes? Also, the grilled cheese was supposed to be served with "Happy fries", but when it was delivered to the table, we were told that they were out of happy fries. By the time we finally got our food, we were so frustrated with the poor service and wait time that it was difficult to enjoy. Overall, it just felt like our presence at this restaurant was a huge inconvenience for our waitress. read more

Well, it's official: You can't get a good homemade pizza in Beaufort anymore. Luther's used to make nice ones, four cheese, margarita, etc. but the last one I had was very disappointing. Don't charge $11 for a small pizza and use cheap tomatoes. Heirloom please! read more

My aunt and I stopped here on our way from Charleston to Savannah to grab something to hold us over until dinner. I was very disappointed. Our buffalo fried oysters were room temperature and soggy, and the grilled shrimp tasted decent but was also room temperature. Also the tea tasted stale as if it hadn't been refreshed recently. Plum's is right next door and looks like it would probably be better, so save yourself the trouble and go there. read more

Worst service I have ever had. Sat outside. Had to go inside to the bar to get drinks and food. Made the mistake of paying upfront. Food ok. But was cold when we got it. Never been on Yelp but had to say something. Pass on this place unless you just want a drink. And go to the bar to get it. read more

We had an awful experience. Took forever, all of our orders came out wrong, and when we told the waitress she said "oh that's probably going to take a while so...". Would not recommend to anyone. We were extremely disappointed. read more

The worst!!! First of all, they keep the front door open when it's 95 degrees outside. We waited about 10 minutes before someone even said a word to us. I ordered a fried grouper sandwich. When it finally came 30 minutes later, that is all there was on the plate. No cole slaw and no fried pickle (like the menu claimed). The sandwich had nothing on it but a melted piece of American cheese! Gross! Everyone at our table thought the food was horrible. After being there a total of an hour and a half, the bill came and the total was $80 for 5 adults. Should have gone to McDonald's! read more

Luther's now serving PIG I went to Luther's on April to 9th 2011 and had a horrible experience. My extended family was in town and my son wanted a good cheese burger on the river. I suggested Luther's because the last time I was there I had a great experience. "NOT this time" There was a very obnoxious lady doing a door prize drawing. Her volume was piercing and she was making rude sexual comments'. The musician was from Key West and was doing adult only material with "I counted no less than 11 children in the dining area. I was shocked. I had my grand kids with us... I was embarrassed. I, like always, enjoyed the hamburger and so did the rest of my family. Not sure if I will ever go there with a group again? The lady doing the drawing was plum nasty. You know? Like why, if there are kids in the room would you disrespect the audience and the families with such vulgar behavior? The bad thing is that the music man was obviously talented and didn't need to be a pig to draw his crowd in. The lady that weighted on my table was fantastic and the food was good, However, the 2 running the restaurant that night has me and at least 2 other family's I spoke to outside, thinking that we will not return for the great food. So, maybe 5:30 on Saturday don't consider Luther's a restaurant to take your family. It may just be a run of the mill "BAR" taking space up on Bay Street? But with that kind of disrespect ... I mean do you want a 10 year old repeating the stroke it song in their 5th grade classroom. If I knew Luther's was serving Pig, I would have asked for potato salad... Curtis. read more

Food was marginal at best. Server was very nice and kitchen delivery was very poor. It was an afternoon spent for a simple sandwich... It was a busy Saturday, but they really need to do better. Wont go back again when I travel to Beaufort.. read more

Good bar. Plenty of flat screens. Had 2 pizzas which were good. Scott, the bartender was nice and remembered our drink selections from earlier in the day. read more

Took one hour to get food. Food was terrible and was not what we ordered. Wait staff was good. Only good thing was view. Obvious that they are not concerned about repeat customers read more

Stopped by for lunch yesterday. The blond bartender was extremely rude. The waitress was stressed (restaurant wasnt full) and was not much friendlier. The Nacho Mama appetizer was terrible!!! Big chunk of nasty ceese all balled up, over cooked and no meat. Dont bother....many other places to have a nice enjoyable experience. read more

My girlfriend and I went for dinner a week ago. The staff was courteous and respectful but unfortunately that was the highlight of the evening. Our drinks were not refilled at all during the hour and a half that we were there. We ordered crab cakes and a chicken dinner. It took over an hour for our meals to make it to our table. The chicken was so badly over cooked that i could not eat it. I was still charged the full price for the dinner, although neither of us could eat what we were served. I had heard good things about this restaurant and looked forward to it. I understand that all places have occasional bad nights. However, this was a truly deplorable experience, and I would never return or encourage others to do so. read more

The food was good. Everything but the bathrooms were dirty. Try the phill cheese stake and sour cream fries. The prices were very good. Average $10. read more

We stopped in for dinner on Friday night and decided to sit outside so we could have the great view of the water. While it did take the server a while to finally greet the table, he was friendly and appeared to have quite a few tables in his section. We started with crab & shrimp dip (served with bread and bugles for dipping) which was really good! I'm not a fan of bugles so I wished for more bread but what can you do? We also has fried pickle spears which were tasty and served with ranch for dipping. I had a steak sandwich for my entree and it was delicious. It was a bit strange to see lettuce and tomato on the steak sandwich but the peppers and onions on it were really good. My only suggestion would be to add some kind of sauce- maybe garlic aioli to add some extra flavor. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their burgers. I had waffle fries which were good but lacked salt. The sour cream & chive fries were delicious. My only complaint were the flies that began circling as soon as our meals arrived. That was pretty gross but not much can be done while sitting outside. Also, extra points because there was a cute cat sitting by the patio which they seem to feed based on the food and water bowls sitting on the steps. read more

This place had definately gone down hill from the highpoint of Banana's. There used to be delicous fries, but lately everything you get from this place is microwaveable drek. Luther's is alright if you're really hungry and the other places on the waterfront are super busy. read more

I have been coming here for years and it is one of my favorite " haunts"! I have never experienced some of the bad reviews seen here. Don't doubt them, lucky I guess. I LOVE the view! I usually go for the drinks but crave seafood when I come to Beaufort so I always get the buffalo oysters! I have had them many places and these are really good if you like spicy. Luther's is also the only bar I have found that has my favorite gin, very high end, Hindricks. I can't say how enough about the memories that the staff at Luther's helped me experience. Go yourself and you tell me. read more

Food is good, but service is unsatisfactory. Waited a substantial amount of time before food was finally brought out. Then, the waitress was rude and complained about how she has to "serve kids who pay low tip all day." Also, this was not the first time an incident like this happened. Another time I was there a waiter got my table our beverages and never came back. We waited there for almost two hours without any one taking our order. Then other costumers came in and sat directly behind us and their order was taken within 15 minutes. This restaurants' service is so horrible it doesn't even deserve 1 star. I don't recommend you wasting your money at the second-rate "restaurant." Please save your money and go elsewhere. read more

First of all, the location of this restaurant is fantastic, and the classic rock playing was an awesome touch, in my opinion. Starting off, the only table available for my party of 3 was the most wobbly table I have ever witnessed. It was more of a horizontal rocking chair than table, but with no other option we sat down and went with it. The server we had was very friendly, and apologized we got stuck with that particular table. (Management:perhaps adjust either the table or floor if this is a known problem?) I ordered the special: prime rib sandwich. What I got was certainly not prime rib. It was 1 slice of what looked like Hormel roast beef, but with far more fat, 2 slices of green and white tomatoes, and a piece of lettuce on a massive, toasted hoagie roll. I've personally never had a prime rib sandwich with tomato or lettuce, so I removed both as they weren't looking too great to begin with. I've eaten a lot of sub-par bar food in my life, after have worked at numerous, but oh my lord I'm not sure how that was on the menu, let alone a special. It was inedible, as there was FAR too much bread in ratio to the thin slice of mystery meat. I nibbled on the cold waffle fries but once our waiter came back, I asked to have it sent back. He was fantastic about the entire interaction and asked if I wanted anything else, but I was pretty done at that point. The "sweet" tea here was not sweet at all, either. I got 2 glasses, thinking maybe the first was just watery, but it tasted just like unsweetened ice tea. After just moving here I was looking for a local place by the water, but I'll keep looking elsewhere for that sweet spot. read more

Nice atmosphere and the food was not bad either, however I left there with a bad taste in my mouth, figuratively speaking oh course. The reason why I am giving Luther's a bad review is due to an employee. In total my bill came to $13.10, so I gave the staff member there $22.25. Telling the employee to keep two dollars. What transpired from there was something unexpected and very disturbing. This person kept everything and avoided eye contact with me. In fact I had to motion and call for him to inquire about my change, which took some effort. When he finally approached me, I ask for my change and told him two dollars was his so he returned to the register and pulled out a five and slapped it on the bar. It's apparent that he intended to keep the entire nine dollars and I wondered if he had done this to other patrons or just me. Now I am not going to make this a racial thing but it sure as hell felt that way to me. I took the five and allowed him to steal the extra two dollars, which was not given but taken. I do not recommend this establishment to anyone and will never venture there again. What arrogance. read more
