Great vibes! This place is gate-kept. I'm so glad we dined in today and our experience was great. They have linen on the tables. :-) I love that personal touch. For food I ordered the Grilled Branzino, although it worded a little weird on the menu. I'm glad that I went for it. The fish was served with one skinned potato cut into two halves and mixed vegetables. The vegetables are served crunchy and bright in color. I loved that! I have never felt the need to write a review but this was the most horrific experience ever. We ordered food. As soon as the food came, we got a really bad smell. The food had definitely gone bad. We apologized and said we couldn't eat it. The waitress that took our table didn't apologize or suggest anything different. All she did was roll her eyes and pick up our plates and remove them. We then asked for the bill and waited 30 minutes because they kept ignoring us and denying us service. It truly felt racially targeted. I'm also Latina and this is a Hispanic place, so it was even more upsetting. They ended up charging us the entire food and when we asked about it. They said it's not their problem and that no manager was on sight. The waitress was arguing with me and raising her voice and my mother felt unsafe and worried. Essentially she said that it's our problem and we have to pay for everything. After the back and forth arguing another waitress approached us and said that they could take off the plate which is something she said they couldn't do. She just didn't want to accommodate for us. But when everyone in the table can't bear swallowing the food, it definitely was the food. So it sincerely just felt so racially profiling and simply disrespectful and rude. The waitress will not cater to you, ignore you, and the food is simply horrific. Feel free to try it but don't be suprised when it's a disappointing experience. My father came here and got assaulted. He comes to this restaurant often and not one person in this restaurant had called the cops or asked him if he was ok. He got assaulted in the mens bathroom, and on the patio. Not once but TWICE! And not one person called the police or asked if he needed help, as he was covered in blood. This place is a disgrace. Totally disappointed with this establishment. They are located in the heart of the city . They should be open to servicing a diverse clientele of which they are not. Most of their employees don't speak English and aren't open to being patient with their patrons due to the language barrier. Food is just ok . Horrible customer service. I wouldn't recommend going forward. Seems like you have to be Portuguese in order to feel comfortable here. read more

Had dinner last night with the help of a groupon. Groupon offered an appetizer & two entrees with certain price limits. The place look casual but it looked like lots of festive events could be held here with all the speakers & televisions on the walls. Me & my girlfriend shared some sort of mushroom cheese & chicken dish on toasted bread. She had the pork chops & I had the steaks. Both meats on the entrees were HUGE & delicious. One complaint was the service. While everyone was very friendly, it took forever & a half to get some water to start. The waitress seemed forgetful even though we were the only table at the restaurant. Nonetheless I will be back for their lunch buffet & all day $2 Coors Light Beer. read more

My family and I went to this restaurant while the groupon promotion was still available. The area that the restaurant is located in is not the best in terms of parking and visibility- but once inside it is very spacious and you almost forget where you are. The staff are very friendly and the food is amazing. I ordered the salmon and my husband the codfish. We also ordered sangria and the portobello mushrooms and calamari as appetizers. The calamari werent too bready, the mushrooms were delicious, and the sangria wasnt too dry! All in all the appetizers were delicious. Not to mention the olives served with bread! The salmon was amazing!! As was the codfish- and I really usually do NOT like Bacalao!! The groupon ended but everyone agreed we would definitely return. The restaurant is usually not very crowded- but the quality of the food is definitely worth it. Take advantage if you get the opportunity! read more

Just wanted to share my experience about Lusiadas restaurant in Mt Vernon Ny. On November the 8th I celebrated my DH birthday and rented the party room out for 5 hours buffet style. Food was good, freshly prepared for the day and consisted of potato salad (Portuguese style) garden salad with vinaigrette, fried calamari, chicken wings, antipasto, and sweet plantains for appetizers, and for dinner we had 5 hot chafing dishes on the table; and after dinner dessert was also included, for the pricing of this delicious menu it was very affordable and the staff was attentive and friendly, but the only thing that I would say needs improvement is that when my guests were by the buffet table to serve themselves with plates in hand when food was running out the staff was a little slow on replenishing it having some of the guests waiting around, which I did not like, my suggestion would be that food be served in much bigger trays and staff be on the look out as to when food is running low and be quick about taking care of it, when I mentioned the issue it was remedied and promptly taken care of which it tells me that the people at Lusiada's want their customers to feel appreciated and welcome at their restaurant and expect them to come back again to treat them as family. I definetely recommend this place for any event that you may be planning about with delicious and plentiful food too. I am thinking of having another party come by next year at Lusiadas again. Therefore they get 5 stars from me for taking care of issue aforementioned, delicious food and friendly staff. I was in town for my wedding, and as I am Portuguese, I thought this would be the perfect spot to take my family to and we purchased a Groupon. I thought wrong. When we first entered the restaurant it was empty, and although we should have taken this as our first indication of what was in store for us, we sat down since we had already purchased the Groupon. Although all of the food was edible, it was highly overpriced and not as high quality as other Portuguese restaurants in the area that charge way less (and give bigger portions.) The waitress was very rude to us when we received the check and asked her about additional charges and we were told not to question her as we didn't know any better since she was the one working for the restaurant, and she knew what she was doing. She then told us she needed to get a coworker to deal with her other tables, and made us sit and wait while she got a calculator and condescendingly began yelling at us while punching numbers into her calculator (and continued to charge us for things we did not order). Needless to say we will not return, and if you are looking for good Portuguese food in the area, go to Galitos or Lusitania in Yonkers. read more
