I was in the mood for a Greek dinner and decided to order takeaway from this place. We had their food before, when we first moved back to the Bronx. They're only a 15 minute drive away, so it's pretty convenient, especially when we don't want conventional fast food. We ordered some pita sandos and headed out to pick them up. When we arrived, there were still people at table, enjoying their meals. It's not very intuitive, where you should stand when you enter. You have to basically walk past people eating dinner at tables, in order to get your pick up order. They really should set something up at the front of the restaurant. We were a bit confused, so we waited by the front, where there are stacks of menus. One of the staff walked towards us and he looked annoyed. I definitely did not like the way he was looking or speaking to us. It was definitely a complete 180° from the lady time we visited. The same employer was much nicer at that previous time. I told him we were picking up an order and gave my name. He had us walk towards the kitchen area, we're standing right by people eating at tables. The setup is really bad. We paid and got our food, and headed home. The pita sandos were good but they kind of overdo it with the tzatziki. I would probably have them put it on the side. All of them were drenched in it. I had the shrimp, hubby had their gyro, and my son had their pork version. We got our Little, their Hercules burger from the kids menu. It's bifteka on pita, with lettuce and tomato, and fried, sliced potatoes on the side. She liked it and I rated a bit. It was very flavorful but messy to eat. Aside from weird in-person interaction, the woman that took our initial order was nice on the phone, the food tasted good, and I would probably order again, but likely not ever dine in. So imagine if you come in a perfect day when they make it real good. The staffs are super friendly, I loveeee their potato fries and I need to try their other menu. I ordered the pork souvlaki platter with fries, pita, Greek salad, and tzatziki, along with a beet salad and a glass of Greek wine. The wine was authentic and enjoyable, but unfortunately, most of the food fell short of traditional Greek standards. The beet salad lacked olive oil, and the Skordalia was not authentic -- it was crumbly, dry, and missing any hint of garlic. The tzatziki tasted like plain yogurt without the proper cucumber or garlic blend. The feta on the salad didn't resemble the rich, briny Greek feta I'm used to (especially compared to NYC Greek restaurants). Even the olive oil tasted watered down, and the platter came with just one small wedge of lemon -- not how souvlaki should be served. The fries were fine, but the overall flavor and presentation were disappointing. To top it off, my server asked if I wanted my main dish packed to go while I was still enjoying my wine. The wine was the highlight of the meal, but the food and service need improvement to meet real Greek standards. The wine was exactly what I expected considering I knew what I was ordering, but the price was outrageous. Full disclosure, I haven't been there in quite some time. However, in the past anytime I've gone the food has been exceptionally good. Super fresh, and really well prepared. Very authentic compared to a lot of the Greek places in the area. That to me are more American Greek than Greek. Highly recommend the lemon potatoes and osta buco along with the octopus but everything's great. Funny story.... Not long after they originally opened. I'd gone there for an anniversary dinner. They had a blackout in the neighborhood. Luckily our food was already prepared in the kitchen and they served us by candlelight. It was one of the nicest anniversary meals I've had! read more

You would drive right by this place as it's in a small strip mall. I found them on Uber Eats and decided to give them a try. I did the pickup option as I don't live too far away. The restaurant is small but it was filled which is always a good sign. There is a small parking lot but there weren't any available spots but luckily there was a free meter parking spot on the street in front of the lot. They were wrapping up my order when I arrived so it was still nice and warm when I got home.. I order the shrimp souvlaki platter with rice. It also came with a small greek salad, a warm flat pita-type bread and tzatziki sauce. Everything was really good. The shrimp was a nice size, the rice was plentiful and the bread was good as well. Great neighborhood Greek place. Pleasant low-key atmosphere and just plain old really good Greek food. We had two of the cold dips and a Greek salad. The dips were delicious and salad super fresh. My wife has the whole grilled branzino and I enjoyed the swordfish kebab. Both were excellent. With a bottle of wine and one beer, our bill was about $135 per couple, including tip. Super reasonable. Absolute favorite Greek restaurant in all of Westchester. Been coming here for years. Food is perfectly seasoned and come in very generous portions that you're bound to bring home leftovers. The Elias Mixed Grill Platter is great if you want to try a little bit of everything. Their lamb chops are a family favorite too. But the Classic Gyro Platter...you can never go wrong with it. It hits the spot every time. As for the ambiance, it's a small shop off the Hutchinson Parkway near New Roc/Bronxville. Limited parking and limited seating, but definitely worth the wait if there is one. The service and experience is great all around. read more

I've been looking for a good gyro for quite some time. I was very dissatisfied with meat the Greek in Eastchester until a co worker which is Greek recommended Elia. I decided to do take out. They were very busy and I thought it would be awhile so I waited outside and within 5 mins. They brought the food out to me which was a nice personal touch. Food was fresh & very tasty. We have been ordering from and dining at Elia Taverna for years. Tonight we found a hair in one of our dishes and their response was "how long was it ?" Really??? And the lamb kabob was really tough. So - while they did refund the meal with the hair in it, we will never be returning to Elia Taverna. read more

Stopped in Saturday afternoon for lunch. Heads up parking was not great. Lot is small and it's a busy area so street parking was tough. We sat down and pretty much right away received the pitas and olives shown in my picture, they were ok. Placed an order for tzatziki sauce to go along with the pitas - it was good just not as flavorful as other local places. I did enjoy how thick it was though. The chicken gyro was good. Lots of flavorful chicken, the pita was totally stuffed to the brim. The fries we got to accompany the gyro were the typical julienned fries. Liked the seasoning blend they used on it. Definitely worth the price and the visit for sure but not the absolute best gyro in Lower Westchester. read more

Always drive by this place and finally went in. They have a pretty substantial menu with a lot of classics plus some daily specials that you normally will not find on a menu. Portions are good, so chances are if you order and appetizer you will have foos to take home. They have a small parking lot outside and service was great as was the food. The stewed lamb over orzo was tasty and you can't go wrong with the saganaki flaming cheese. My husband ordered the burger, which comes without a bun and bursting with flavor. Nice laid back trattoria style Greek Restaurant on Eastchester, right next to Gordy's Burgers. My wife and I ate there this past Friday. I had the swordfish with sautéed spinach and my wife had a stewed shrimp dish with rice. Both dishes were delicious as I complimented my meal with the house sangria . Service was great and the local crowd was so pleasant. I gotta go back there for other Greek specials like the grilled octopus I had which was to die for. read more

This place is a family-owned low key gem. We stopped by for lunch on our way up to New Haven. We had their Greek burger (on pita, wonderful seasoning), and a grilled salmon wrap (sorry I don't have the proper Greek names here), with sautéed greens and lemon. Everything was delicious! Let's get straight to the point. The food was godawful. I've never tasted chicken kebab so tough and dry, it was literally like eating shoe leather. The accompanying green peppers and onions were burnt beyond recognition. Staff was friendly. But what of it if the main entree is so bad that it was completely inedible. The staff should have recognized immediately that what they were serving was not fit for human or even Dog consumption. The diner is in a mini mall and the aesthetics are somewhat appealing. We drove about 20 mins to get there. I was turned off by the smell. It had an old dusty smell. The Ac was set to Eskimo and the waiter offered to have it turned down then said that the manager wasn't there all is in the same sentence. There wasn't a lot on the menu to choose from. You'd never know it from the location but this is spot on Greek food. Reminded me of my vacation there...especially the fresh food. Fresh garlic! Fresh red tomatoes! Soft and crumbly feta! Food is the highlight here. But it's also clean and casual. Water and pita with marinated olives were brought to the table as I was seated. I could have eaten all the olives but I had to resist. The chicken souvlaki platter was huge! It comes with a ton of delicious juicy chicken, rice or fries, pita and tzatziki (so yummy), and a Greek salad with a perfect slab of feta cheese. It is not tomato season but the tomatoes on the salad were so red and perfect, just like in Greece. The menu can be overwhelming because there's everything Greek you can imagine - Mediterranean overload in the best way possible. If I could give this place a zero rating, I would. I've driven by this place a number of times and wondered what is was like. So I stopped in recently and lived to regret it. I ordered a platter to go. When I arrived home and bit into a tomato in the salad, it had a weird texture and awful taste. I immediately spat it out and discovered it was covered in mold. Upon further examination of the salad, I found that all of the tomatoes and some of the vegetables touching them were moldy. On top of the this, the meat looked and tasted like it was left over from days before, and the tzatziki sauce had no dill, cucumber or lemon in it. I threw the whole thing out. What a let down and waste of money. I have no idea how this place stays in business. read more
