Can I start by asking why the hell did I never come here before? I actually didn't even plan my trip here, I happened to be down the road when I thought oh wow I keep saying I'll go and nows my chance! After having a meet in with a snap kitchen delivery truck in the lot and having to relocate my car, which I didn't mind one bit with it being nearly empty, I made my way inside. I was welcomed with amazing smells and giant bath bombs! An awesome sales associate greeted me within a minute of looking in awe at everything, she helped me find a few amazing products that I question how I ever made it without. I'm glad to say I'm gonna have to come here more often, as the products I got have already became apart of my daily beauty regimen! THANKS LUSH! read more

Love this place, though every time I go in I spend way too much money. They are always helpful, and willing to give me samples of whatever it is that I want to try. All in all, its a fun place, and I am always satisfied with the product. read more

I am an insanely huge Lushie and so I frequent this store. Everyone in here has always been super friendly and helpful. I will say parking can be a pain(and that + the fact that I live up north is why I'm not in here all the time), but if you go during non-peak hours it's not a huge issue. read more

The staff here was and always is super helpful! I came in today and was helped by Mimi and other staff members. I had my hands full because of my motorcycle helmet but they quickly found what I needed and even gave me a sample on my way out. read more

Love this place! I make excuses to go there and buy things from their amazing staff. Great products for yourself and for gifts. I love the scents. Bar shampoo and conditioner are great for traveling and the face masks and scrubs make my skin soft and beautiful. AND NO ANIMAL CRUELTY! read more

There is not enough room to write all of the amazing reasons I shop at and love Lush Cosmetics. While everyone on staff is amazingly helpful and completely product knowledgeable it's the products themselves that keep bringing this 56+ year old man back to the store in downtown Austin time and time again. Praise to all of you that work there that support this amazing brand and company and thank you to those behind the scenes fighting against animal testing and abuse. read more

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a former employee at this location. I was a customer before I worked there and am a customer now. The fact that a former employee of any company in this day and age is throwing down a five star review should speak VOLUMES. I have been an avid user and fan of Lush since 1999. At first we had no store here - it's actually just been within the past few years that this location opened. I have been to lush stores all over the nation - from CA to NYC (spa) to Atlanta and all in between and Austin is hands DOWN the best location of them all in a magnificent company. While I worked at Lush people would often ask me if we all really are "that enthusiastic" about the products and the company and the answer is yes. There is no curtain to pull back, no greenwashing or marketing ploys. Lush is serious about changing the world one body product at a time. Make sure to check out Charity Pot, which is a lotion that 100% of the sale goes to grassroots charity. Not the profit - the whole entire sale price. That means they pay to produce it and pay the lovely employees to sell it and then give ALL the money away. Who does this???? Lush does. It is true that Lush uses synthetics in their products and many people mistakenly believe that Lush falsely markets that they don't and that's just not true. Actually, in some products this is a point of pride for Lush because it means a safe, synthetic ingredient is used instead of one that little is known about or is in an animal test trial. Safe synthetics are also always favored over the use of an animal by-product. The products are 100% vegetarian, about 80% vegan and all contain organic food grade ingredients. As for this location, It is filled with some of the finest folks you will ever meet. They really do want you to have an excellent experience in the store. Let them sit you down and show you the magic. They love to do it and you will love the attention to detail that you receive. Most of the stores in this area have some of the worst service in all of Austin (cough, By George, cough) so it is tremendous to walk in here and be greeted and treated like you matter. Yes you will be greeted. Try smiling back and engaging. You will be happy you did. They are super well trained, happy to see you, and love what they do and it shows. This store is seriously the "other" happiest place on earth. Tips: if crowds bother you and parking snarls aren't your thing, don't go on the weekend. Try a weekday - less busy and they can really take their time with you. If you see something you want, buy it NOW. Don't wait. You will be disappointed when it sold and they are out. This store is crazy busy and they run through stock fast. Make sure to keep the receipt and return within 30 days if needed. Trust me on this- I helped far too many of you who "came back" and we were out of something and you were sad. Low on funds but want a treat? Grab a bath bomb or bubble bar, a toner tab, and a fresh face mask. They will explain how to use all of them. Then enjoy a soak in the tub with a mask on your face. Pure heaven. Keep an eye out for great gift sets too - these are often a great value and contain exclusives that are not sold at all individually or special smaller sizes that aren't available outside the gift sets. They are a great way to treat yourself and try a wide variety of things. Love these. But the best tip is to try everything for all the parts of the body that they have. It is all top notch and crazy high quality. Keep up the good work. Love you all! read more

Love it! The products are amazing. I wish I could afford to buy all of them but I'm busy paying off student loans. They let you sample everything. Every staff member is friendly without being pushy, or following you around like you're trying to steal something. My favorite products are 1) Lovely Jubblies for the girls. It really does firm them up AND it smells wonderful 2)Silky underwear dusting powder. I use it on my armpits for the delightful smell and I don't believe in traditional deodorant. I also use it on my inner thighs to prevent chafing during long walks or running. Great store, great service, amazing products. read more

Every single employee seems pleasant and willing to help every person that walks in the door, every time I go here. Was waited on by 3 separate associates in one visit, and all were laid-back, but professional, honest, and had informed recommendations. No one is ever too pushy, and they will always send you home with samples if you are unsure. They really strive to make sure everyone who stops in feels welcomed, and never rushed. We were there because my friend has Eczema, and tried their Dream Cream, not knowing she would have a reaction to the lavender in it. It had been a few months since it was purchased, but the associate remembered her and asked about it. They were more than happy to issue a full refund, or find something else that worked for her. She ended up leaving with Charity Pot, and loves it! Lush is a pretty far drive for those of us up North, but I would say it is totally worth it for the experience. Plus, there are other great shops and restaurants in the area, so you can make a day out of it. The products are more than I would normally want to spend, but they get the job done, and I love that they are all natural, not tested on animals, and support charities! read more

I took my mom into this store for her birthday and she absolutely LOVED their lotions! Not only are their products AMAZING, but their workers are awesome! One of their employees, Mic MADE my moms birthday! He was awesome and so sweet! We will definitely be going back! read more

I have been a Lush customer for 6+ years and in all that time this has been the store I go to for my products. Not once have I had a less than fabulous experience here. Every time I stop by the people here are above and beyond helpful and friendly. They are always eager to answer any questions, or to help me find the answer if they don't have that information. They always offer samples and their personal recommendations and try and help me find the right product for me. On more than one occasion they have turned my day around. Not only am I a true believer in Lush as a company and totally in love with their products. The staff at this store should get great recommendations for being absolutely wonderful people. Shout out to Jennifer for giving me a great birthday experience. I will continue to recommend Lush to every single person I possibly can. read more

If it was any other Lush store in the world, I'd give it 5 stars. Does that tell you something? "Amber, is it the selection?" you ask. "No," I say, "It is not the selection." "But Amber, is it possibly the location?" you wonder. "No," I reply, "I love the location. I have to walk by it every. single. day." "Then WHY!? WHY? Why do you not seem to like going into this Lush, and avoid it at all costs - often considering ordering their fine products online instead of coming in?" you implore. "It's because every time I've ever gone in there, even with headphones on, the staff badgers me relentlessly with questions, can't take the hint that I know what I'm doing and want to be left alone to shop, and circles me like buzzards." I don't blame the staff, I blame the store policy. They really need to re-think things. I once drew a comic (I have a web comic, in case you were wondering) about how much I hated going in, it got re-posted on tumblr A LOT. Everyone seemed to relate. I once even did secret shopping for Lush corporate, and reading the questions made it very evident to me that they wanted the staff to behave this way. I hate it, and I'm pretty sure they hate it. I used to live next to a Lush in Newcastle, and it wasn't like that. I've been to Lush in Dallas, Paris, London, Berlin, and the list goes on... I don't see the staff treating me that way there. I know the products, I don't need someone stalking me through the store the entire time saying, "Looking for anyting in particular? No? Want to try this? I love this fragrance! ...Oh! You're reaching for the fragrance, have your tried that fragrance? I see you're looking at hair products now, my favorite is 'Big!' Did you see our lip gloss?! Want to try our new hand lotion? Now you're looking at bath bombs! Are you familiar with our bath bombs? Have you tried this one?!" It drives me nuts. I hate it. I'd rather pay shipping and order online. They need to fix this. read more

Now it's really down to 3 stars, from my previous 3.5. It...may even be 2.5. If they sold their fresh masks online, I'd probably never set foot in the Lush store again. I'm perilously close to just working out the ingredients and making the masks myself, just to avoid the Lush employees. I went in there last week to pick up a new mask. I just wanted to get in and get out, without having the mechanics of face cream patiently explained to me as if I'd never seen it before. That, you see, is it. When I go into Lush, I understand that I'm venturing onto the sacred ground of a loving cult, and I can respect that. What I find myself consistently most frustrated by is that the employees keep lecturing me. They follow me around the store to do it, even when I tell them I'm just looking and refuse to make eye contact. Eventually they get huffy and give up, but then I'm left feeling like I've OFFENDED them by not wanting to bond over the products. I don't have time to be a Lush associate's self-esteem coach, and I don't like shopping with people who feel they have to educate me about their products constantly. I'm pretty sure I understand how soap works. I have, in fact, made my own. When I go into Lush, I have to resist the temptation to pull an incredulous face and say, "REALLY? All I have to do is get this stuff wet and rub it on my hands, and the dirt just COMES OFF? How does it DO THAT?!?!" Likewise, I find their 'cause of the week' approach grating, especially their refusal to take "Yes, thank you, I'm familiar with the issue," as an indicator that I don't need to hear any more of the pitch about it. I have been an informed activist on energy-related causes for for a span of time measurable in decades. I really don't need to be pedantically preached at about oil spills by someone who wasn't even born yet when the Valdez ran aground. If I *am* going to have to endure an unsolicited and seemingly inescapable lecture on a topic I already know a good deal about, the lecturer could have the grace to sound a little less *cheerful*. One ought not sound quite so perky about the potential for massive environmental damage. Every time I go in there, I love the products I buy but find the experience stressful and irritating; I stand outside the store sometimes, waiting for no one to be standing near the things I want so I can get to them and to the register without being hounded (it almost never works...*sigh*). As I'm sure this is not their intent, perhaps their management could put some effort into educating sales staff in how to handle self-sufficient customers who just want low-drama quality beauty products, not hovering attention, patient and enthusiastic education, and Lush Cult evangelism. read more

I love these products. The face masks are my favorite. I am slowly trying everything. Only complaint is that everything is a bit pricey.

Waaay overpriced and over-hyped. That about sums it up. The store is really really smelly (as in, you can smell it from the street) and looks like someone was going through a rainbow brite manic phase when they decorated! I get the whole attraction of having natural cosmetics, but it shouldn't be at the cost of half a tank of gas ($30 for a chunk of soap, are you kidding me?? really??? really????). This might not be a problem for people who are not on a budget, but then again I don't know anyone personally who falls into that category. Ok maybe I know a couple, but I'm not pandering to that crowd. Also, another thing that annoyed me, were the pushy saleswomen. I already told you I was just browsing, leave me alone! I'm not really interested in hearing about a "bath bomb" for $9 that's only good for one use. As far as natural body products go, there has to be something better out there! read more

I had the pleasure of visiting lush a few weeks ago while browsing shops with a friend. I was kind of 'meh' about going into a soap store, but that changed pretty quick. there are 2 great strengths about this shop. The staff are very bright and cheerful and happy to show you everything as well as demo-ing products on you or just for you to watch. (the bath bombs are very cute) The prices are at the edge of my comfort zone for soap, but the quality is there to back it up. It can be a little difficult to smell things in the shop because there is a lot of fragrance in the air, but I have loved everything that I bought. My favorite thing I bought so far is a bar of oatmeal and molasses soap that smells heavenly. My bathroom smells expensive and beautiful all the time now from a bar soap!! This is one of those rare shops where I leave happier than I went in just because the staff is so pleasant. I really recommend a visit! read more

I've visited plenty of lush stores in search of twilight shower gel not only in austin but two locations in Dallas/plano. Each time im told that so many people request it and it was so popular yet it's never available. I even asked if I could pay extra for it and still told no. For the longest time I juat settled and continued to shop here getting dirty spring wash or it's raining men. Ive searched for the body wash and called so many timea that I will no longer purchase anything from here. Why? Because no one obviously cares about what their customers ask for. read more

Ever wish your body lotion was edible? Neither had I, until I walked into Lush. First of all, every employee I have encountered at Lush has been SO kind and sweet. They take pride in their products and really take the time to listen to the customer's needs before recommending a product. I sat down with an employee and tried several different face scrubs, masks, and moisturizers on my arm. I probably asked about a million questions and the girl who helped me was so informative and patient. Their products are handmade and usually consist of fruit/vegetables, essential oils, honey, shea butter, and other naturally derived ingredients. So, naturally, they feel AMAZING. I've been using Dark Angels face wash and Enzymion moisturizer. I also recently bought Charity Pot hand and body lotion. 100% of the proceeds made from this lotion go to charities such as the Beagle Freedom Project. They raised and donated over one million dollars last year through this product. Not only is this an amazing cause, but this lotion is honestly the best I've ever tried, leaves my skin feeling like silk. Plus, it smells amazing without being over powering. I am so glad I tried out this place per recommendation of a co-worker of mine who has fabulous skin. I am officially HOOKED! read more

Great staff but some stuff is useless or if you don't use it right it doesn't make sense to buy. Always tempted to buy and they don't even make commission! I've had to return faulty products and I've exchanged. Good at recommendations but takes a long time! read more

As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted by the sweetest girl. She asked what I was looking for I told her skin care. She then asked what my main concerns were and proceeded to test the products for the specific purposes I requested. Yes the price can be up there but I be honest I have been using this stuff for over a month and have barely made a dent. I use the angels on bare skin and the 9-5 cleanser. They even throw in a couple of samples for you to try if you decide you want those as well eventually. I even picked up the cutest gift wrapped package for a friends birthday and she fell in love immediately. I have sensitive skin and know that they use natural ingredients makes my skin looks so glowy and so soft. My husband even liked that they have a section for men! So looking forward to going back, but we don't know when due to the products lasting a long time. Oh, I forgot to mention that each product comes with a sticker that tells you who made it and when! read more

I didn't think cosmetics stores were for me...until I visited Lush. I purchased 2 bath bombs and a bubble bath critter. They were amazing! One of the bath bombs, "Northern Lights" turned my water green and pink and sparkle-y and smelled divine. The employees are super helpful but not pushy. The parking is awful and a trek downtown makes me a more than a little apprehensive but I definitely want to go back...someday. read more

I've never had a bad experience at this Lush (besides finding parking on the weekends lol). The employees are always friendly and show you tips and tricks for different products but are never pushy. I've never felt like they were trying to force a product on me. And if you're unsure on buying a full size product they're always willing to give you a sample which i think is great. And if a product ends up not working for you their return policy is great. I'll always be a customer of Lush Austin. read more

the store smells amazing. I have experienced excellent service and friendly people here before. NOT the case on Saturday Aug 4 - it was not busy - we were the only people who walked into the store - we were not greeted, since I know what I like (KARMA anything) I started to fill a basket - still not acknowledged, another lady walked in - she was not greeted or acknowledged, a young couple walked in - they were not acknowledged or greeted. the clerks were much more interested in gossiping about a co-worker and griping about their work schedules. we walked out, the other people walked out - and then, finally one clerk said "come back soon" the lady next to me said "I don't f....king think so". this was so sad, so very, very sad - not at all what I expect from Lush... not worth fighting traffic in the area of town to be ignored. thank heavens for THE BODY SHOP at Barton Creek Mall.... come on Lush - wake up!!! read more

First time in a Lush store, and I will definitely be going back as soon as I visit Austin again! Absolutely loved it. The staff is not only friendly and greets you upon entering, but they are also very well trained on product knowledge, which is super important, especially when working with skin care. The associate that assisted us was a delight, and you could tell she loves her job, which as a customer made me love being in there. I can't remember her name, but as soon as I remember, I will be editing this to add it! :) It's seriously a beauty playground in there, and you don't feel restricted or uncomfortable when you want to try on products or ask for samples, like you may feel in other beauty stores. I also love the fact that everything in there is all natural, as well as vegan friendly and against animal testing. Great experience there!! The little stickers with the pictures of who "cooked" your product on the container are also a super cute and personable detail. read more

I try to go here when my daughter is at her ballet class nearby. It usually is during her Saturday class, but this evening (Wednesday) I needed to buy a birthday gift and thought some nice bubble bath bars would be perfect. Well, the selection was ok, there were some that looked kind of sloppy. I chose a few bars and looked at the pre-packaged gifts for quite a while and I expected staff to come over to see if I needed help, like they usually do at other stores, but no one ever acknowledged me. I was browsing for a while but I gave up and left. What's interesting to me is that while there were staff busy with other customers, there was one young man who was free yet continued to ignore me and when a new customer walked in the door, he immediately spoke to her asking what she was looking for and telling her of new products. What's up with that? This was the first time this has happened there and it was a total turn off. As a young Hispanic woman, did I not look like I can afford these pricey items? What other conclusion can I draw? I've shopped there before for me and my children because we loved the quality and unique variety of options, but I highly doubt I will step foot inside that store again. read more

I had previously been to Lush only once and that was over a year ago. At the time I bought some lotion and it was time to get a refill. I walked in and a Lush employee named Mic greeted me and showed me a few products. I loved how he picked up on what scents I like and didn't like and he was able to show me options that I thought smelled fantastic and would suit what I'm looking for. Normally Sales people have a hard time understanding what I like. He easily picked up on my preferences and introduced me to 'Vanilla Dee-lite' and 'Sweetie Pie'. A gel soap was new and odd to me and it made my skin feel so soft and smooth! I'm an avid gardener and I've seen the magic seaweed can do for plants; I had no idea seaweed could be used for people and even more so not smell like stinky fish. Even though 'Vanilla Dee-lite' was a little more than I wanted to pay and he showed me other options, I couldn't leave without it. Smelled too wonderful and is so light I can even use it on my face without breaking out (something I had never found in a lotion before)! Everything he recommended that I bought was amazing. I went online and looked for some other products that I thought would suit me, but the selection is overwhelming and I had questions. I knew I had to go back and consult with him. I went back again a couple of weeks ago specifically to talk to him was so pleased that he was there and available to answer my questions. He introduced me to a conditioner that allows me to run my fingers through my bleached and dyed hair as well as a body conditioner that makes my skin look 10 years younger and to 'You've Been Mangoed' (I'm crazy about mangoes) and other amazing products. He also explained how to use them. Having someone who understands me and is able to show me what I'm looking for made all the difference in my Lush experience! I am very happy with the products I've purchased through his recommendations. Not only did he turn the Lush experience from 'Oh, this is a cool shop' to 'I smell and feel wonderful', I've also started taking baths again and enjoying them and the lingering smells. My bathroom always smells like my favourite Lush scents now and I love it! Thank you, Mic, you've made all the difference for me! And thank you Lush for amazing and odd (in a good way) products. read more
