One of the best meals my husband and I have had in a while. I ordered surf and turf and substituted the filet for an upcharge, 100% worth it. My filet was cooked and seasoned perfectly, fell apart in my mouth. My husband ordered the fried perch, the breading was thin and crispy unlike other fried fish he's had in the past. We highly recommend this place for dinner, and will hopefully be back up that way in the spring for round 2. read more

This is one of our favorites for our annual trip to Door County. Full disclosure, we go up in the winter so I can't speak to how crowded Lure is during peak season! One of my favorite things is the location. The building used to be a church and I enjoy looking at the little details that give you a hint at the buildings history! You can still see the choir loft and I'm fairly certain that the booths are repurposed pews. At least in the winter time, the menu doesn't change much but can always be relied on for a solid steak and fun surf & turf options. Their cocktails are really tasty and are a good start to a cozy romantic dinner. If you're in Door County and are willing to spend a little bit of money, check out Lure you'll enjoy it! read more

This place was amazing! After a long day of exploring Door County, I was looking for somewhere to get some good food. This place certainly was that! The menu is what got me interested, as they had many different and unique options. I was traveling in a group, so we all went, and they seated us instantly on the patio in a secluded little round table, it was lovely! We got started right away with drinks, which included items such as craft beer and virgin drinks, and all were lovely, and not too badly priced either. For food, we all got a bunch of different entrees, I went with the pork katsu, which was phenomenal, we also got some others like the sticky ribs, whitefish, and walleye, and all were delightful. The katsu was my favorite, it was a beautifully crusted piece of pork, with some lovely sauce, served on some rice and asian coleslaw, it was incredible! Also the portion was huge! Easily could have fed 2-3 people. A great dish to share around for sure. The food itself wasn't too terribly priced, you also have to remember that this restaurant is meant to be fancier, at least on the inside, so a $25 entree isn't too expensive. Also a quick note, indoor seating is meant to be romantic and intimate, so it's very candle lit in there, but it's the opposite on the outdoor part, it's very open, bright, and sunlit out there, very nice. Their service was as you would expect, frequent water refills, making sure your table is set, and was very efficient. All in all, this place was great, it's one of the only restaurants I would say was actually amazing in Door County, very fun. read more

Service is great , accommodations outside are very nice. We had dinner and tried some dishes. Sushi, shrimp tempura, mussels were very good. Main dishes like fish pasta and crab cakes ( 26$ and change each) very bland. Pasta was a soupy plate of noodles with way to much cream and crab cakes had not texture/ flavor: both not worthy. While driving through the area we found this place to stop for dinner. Parking is ridiculous, very little parking and a lot of it on weird inclines. Lots of parking on the street but during peak summer and a holiday weekend you couldn't find any. Stepping into Lure it has a nice upbeat trendy feel. Staff was friendly. We were seated right away. Their cheddar biscuits were great. We ordered the Ny Strip steak and their Crab Sushi stack. Our server was OK.. She was slow.. took forever to get things. The ceasar salad is medicore at best. Not even sure there was dressing on it and alot of the lettuce was brownish. They brought out my steak, but then had to wait about 10 mins before my nieces Sushi came out and a steak knife. Restaurants should NEVER bring one entry out and make customers wait for the other meals especially when its SUSHI! The steak was cooked to perfection, very flavorful and juicy but not worth almost $30. My niece loved the sushi. All in all the food was ok but this place is extremely overpriced and slow. We were really excited to try this place, given the reputation of sister restaurant Chop. The menu has a variety of different fish dishes and a few interesting Asian touches, so we were looking forward to mixing some classic and more fun dishes. We started with the Old Fashioned and Spicy Cucumber Gimlet; the Old Fashioned is not traditional in any way and has so many competing flavors that you end up not really tasting much of anything (disappointing given the price) and the Gimlet was tasty but so spicy that you couldn't taste anything for a few minutes after. We order the crab "nachos" as an appetizer, which means we paid $16 for 100 wonton chips, 2 tablespoons of crab, and some queso. Somewhat tasty, not at all worth the price. My fried shrimp were very tasty, as was my partner's fried perch. The fries were acceptable but nothing special. Overall, we were not happy with the price we paid for what we received. While our server was perfectly pleasant, she was rather absent for most of the meal. One of the things that bothered us MOST was the fact that Lure is advertising on their website that they were no longer offering indoor seating for health and safety reasons due to COVID-19 (good on them!) but when my partner went to the bathroom, the indoor space was PACKED WITH DINERS. Didn't like the location of the slopes table on the edge of the main parking lot but hey that one was on is for not making a reservation. The meals do not include bread or a salad so we ordered a bowl of clam chowder as an appetizer. The soup was flavorless and had an odd texture. Very small size for what was called a bowl. As someone mentioned it was $6 just to order bread and butter as a appetizer. The sushi roll ordered for dinner was ok. The Cajun salmon dinner was overcooked and dry. Served with sweet potatoes and regular coleslaw. Just a weird combination and the dressing from the coleslaw made the fried soggy. Blah. One of the few places I have rated 5 stars here in DC. Service was great and not overbearing. Everything we ate was awesome -- the cheddar biscuits were underwhelming...but still good...expectations ruined everything. My side blt salad came out promptly after and was large. I initially didnt like the presentation because I had to rip the bacon to distribute it....as I ate it I amcame to appreciate the flavor The balance of flavor was nice . The crabcakes came out shortly after and the flavor was good but the texture was interesting. Entrees arrived shortly after and we both loved our food. I got the salmon...green beans were the veg of the day... they were phenom. She let me try some of her pasta ... the flavors were awesome. I'd recommend this place 10/10. read more

Considering we had such high hopes and were excited for this dinner, we were VERY disappointed. There are so many great places to eat in Door County, and this is not one that I would recommend to anyone. We both were sadly very disappointed with our whole dining experience. We made a reservation, and didn't get seating until 15 mins after our reservation time. Not a big deal, sat at the bar, and waited. But once we got seated we were only 5 feet away from the table at the bar we could have just sat at in the first place. So we had the cold draft from the open doors the whole dinner. After being seated, it took 15 mins of countless servers walking past us before I asked who was serving us because at this point we have been there for 30 mins and I still wasn't served any water. We ordered the spicy tuna roll for an appetizer and it was not good. Not sure why, but the fresh raw tuna, was warm. The whole roll had a warm mushy texture, and I wouldn't recommend it. For our meal, we ordered the whitefish almondine and the walleye pecandine. While waiting for our food our server was no where to be seen, no checking on us. The whitefish almondine was good. However the walleye almondine was not good. The fish was very slimy, like it was boiled? And had no flavor. The boiled potatoes and broccoli were cold. read more

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night. We were fortunate that they were able to fit us in at the last minute in the bar area. We ordered a cornbread as an appetizer which was really for 4 people but was amazing! Both our dinners, fried walleye and grilled Salomon were also great. Service was a little spotty, but that may have been because we were seated in the bar area. Overall very happy with our dinner. Subtracting one star for an ambiguous service charge for 4% tacked on to our check that wasn't apparently associated with a credit card or anything else. If they need 4% more, just increase menu prices. read more

The Lure has become an annual dining location for us while in Sister Bay. Lure is pet friendly and very accommodating for our dog in its outside dinning area. We ordered the walleye and also the lobster special. Our sides included potatoes and slaw. Our food was excellent in all areas. All servers were great always checking to see if anything was needed. Had dinner here on a Monday night (6/27), not sure if this factored into the quality of the meal. The good: Our server Faith was excellent - prompt, friendly and professional. Drinks were very good and priced appropriately. The ambience and setting is modern and beautiful. A bit fancier in décor and clientele than a lot of other DC restaurants. Overall the food was good with a few exceptions. The biggest disappointment were the mussels and fries. I was not a fan of the sauce (I prefer the more classic saffron wine butter sauce), but the bigger issue was the quality of the mussels. Several of them had that cow poop taste (which if you've had some questionable oysters, then you're familiar with it.....not pleasant, hard to shake off of your taste buds). I stopped eating them after 4 duds in a row. The fries that came with were not the shoestring frites I'd expect with mussels...they had that starchy coating on them (Sysco lower grade?) which I can't stand and comes across cheap, especially in a restaurant like Lure. The crab crusted halibut was good, but needs a bigger impact sauce. Lobster bisque was very rich, heavy on the cream and sherry style. Cornbread was very good and ample. Grilled vegetable side was essentially raw veggies with some char marks on them. My wife loved her lobster tails, but agreed that the fries were nasty. Overall, would come back but be more selective on the choices. read more

Please check your bill! We were charged a credit card fee-which we know is becoming common in Door County. BUT gratuity was also automatically added to the bill. For a table of two people. I have never experienced that at a restaurant before. Usually, a restaurant will add gratuity for a larger group, and the server will let you know it is added. We did not notice this auto charge and added our own tip. Our server got double tipped. The worst part is that food wasn't that great and service was just ok. We really enjoyed the $2 Oysters. They were fantastic even though it is August. We also had the Crab Nachos . Very nice and light because the chips were fried wonton! Lump crab, mango, micro greens, and white queso , avocado, and green onions. Such a nice balance. Forgot to take a picture before we dug in!! We will be back! Great atmosphere and service. We celebrated our 39th anniversary at Lure. We were camping at Peninsula State Park, and got dressed up and came to Lure. It was a beautiful setting with flowers and vines on a stone wall. We participated in the early bird special. I nearly asked for a spatula to get every last bit of the gravy out of the bowl that it was served in. The Keylime pie was also very tasty. Last year our anniversary dinner in door County was a train wreck. Thank you so much Lure for providing us with the venue and excellent food and service to enjoy our anniversary this year! Elegant dining and a beautiful setting in what I'm assuming was an old church. My husband and I enjoyed a sushi roll to start our meal and it was very well done. Thank goodness we walked there, because can't tell you how many people pulled into lot and struggled to pull back out cuz was full- lot was TINY. Waitress didn't smile once. I ordered the fish fry, and my husband the steak. Fish fry was terrible, tiny fillets - not fishy tasting, not soggy or anything, just not good. Husbands steak was the real problem- overcooked and looked and tasted like the cook dropped the salt shaker on his plate- literally. His sides were two boiled red potatoes and broccoli.
