I had a glass of wine and a shrimp po'boy slider, which was very good. However, the calamari was why I gave the poor rating. It was greasy and unimaginative. Sure, calamari appetizers are common, but this was so bad that I only had two and left the rest of the plate unfinished. In retrospect, I should have ordered two sliders and skipped the calamari. I visited lure bar last year (2021) for thanksgiving and it was 5/5 stars. The ambiance was great, drinks were top notch, food was amazing, and service was pristine. This year, it's gone down hill. It was clear they made some changes to management. We came here because of restaurant week but we were familiar with the brand of hotels, which we adore, Lure is housed in. We were greeted in a kind and friendly manner and seated quickly for lunch. Our waiter was equally jovial. The service was great, we felt attended to at all times, no problems with water refills or anything we needed at all. I started with the squash soup which was fantastic and really stands out as being special. The chilled soup was like a vichyssoise but with interesting updates, using corn, asparagus and magical flavors (not at all like corn chowder). This is truly unique and perfect for hot days or as amuse bouche. The branzino was perfectly prepared with a beautiful presentation. I can't wait to return to try the red snapper with bok choy. I felt like a light desert so had the sorbet, which had a smooth, almost creamy, texture and pure flavors. My party and I ordered tuna tacos, clam chowder, lobster Mac and cheese, lobster roll with fries, rainbow roll, lure house and dynamite roll. The tuna tacos were delicious. Very crisp and fresh products used. You can take every flavor without the fishy flavor overpowering the whole dish. The clam chowder was too hot but wait 5 secs and it will not burn your tongue. Plenty for it to be an entree. The lobster Mac and cheese was excellent. Again, you can taste all of the flavors. The cheese wasn't too cheesy or thick, absolutely perfect. Plenty of fat chunks of lobster. By the time the lobster roll and fries got to the table I was taped out but still managed to eat half a sandwich. The roll was perfectly buttered and toasted. The sandwich was filled with a lot of lobster. The lobster salad didn't get overpowered by the sauce or any of the other products in it. The rainbow, lure house and dynamite rolls were great. The lure house roll being the tastiest followed by the dynamite and the rainbow was just ok. Pricey expect to spend at least $300/2 people. The only negative was the bathroom. Located on the hotel side of the building. Not clean. Only 1 toilet stall with toilet paper. No paper towels. An old disgusting hand dryer and the tampon receptacle is super close to your face when sitting on the toilet. You get a very disgusting whiff of whatever is dying in there. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed Lure Fishbar Chicago located adjacent and attached, via a curtained doorway to the 21C Museum Hotel. How convenient! The ambience, the service, the food and beverages were par excellante. We loved the low lighting and the wonderfully eclectic music as we sipped amazingly balanced and creative craft cocktails. When I did not know what "lychee" was, our knowledgeable and accommodating server, Matthew brought a couple pieces out to us to try. Now, I KNOW lychee (and the Lychee Up cocktail was terrific)! I enjoyed my fresh, flavorful kale Caesar salad and a most wonderful tuna tataki. My companion's Butternut Squash soup was rich, creamy and bursting with flavor. He enjoyed his Rainbow Sushi too. A terrific "egg bouche" treat with a caviar sprinkle whetted our palate for the finale. The warm dark chocolate brownie and ice cream with strong, smooth, hot coffee and the house made coffee liquor. Overall, food was subpar for the price. Our total bill was around $220 (before tax) for the two of us. Atmosphere was also subpar, thought the service was good. For the main course we ordered the tuna tataki appetizer, sushi+sashimi combo with the kenai roll and the hellfire roll. The signature rolls were good, however there was little flavor beyond the fish. The king salmon sushi/sashimi also had an under layer of skin still attached which was a little disheartening as it was firm and we expected it to be a cleaner cut. The tuna tataki was delightful, but for the price of $23 we expected more than the small portion we received. Drink-wise we split a glass of wine and three of the sea plane cocktails. The sea plane cocktails were delicious with fruity undertones, despite costing $15 each for about a shot worth of liquid. We also ventured to try out the dessert. We ordered the chocolate cake, which to my surprise was more like a deconstructed s'more than the dark chocolate I expected. It was very average taste wise, however the portion was large enough that the two of us couldn't finish it, which was a nice change from the small portions we had received earlier. The location is nice, and we were able to sit in the lounge while we waited for our reservation. However, once in the main part of the restaurant, the music was so loud that people had to shout in order to hear each other and the restaurant was quite dark (dark enough that pictures of the food were impossible without flash).
