The lumpia is still really good, but I feel like some of the flavor and food has changed, along with the portions. I like that they've expanded what they sell and they have a lot more in the market now. And they fry the lumpia to order, which is great. The milk fish that I got was pretty dry. The chicken adobo tastes different from what I remember and almost has a barbecue flavor, which I'm not a big fan of. The bibingka was really good -it's like a soft spongy pastry(?) that's sweet and salty, with chunks of salted egg, wrapped in a leaf.

We enjoyed our visit and meal. Mang has more options than I am used to, but if you do not eat pork, options become very limited. In our case, we enjoyed some pork dishes we had not tried before. Food had a very familiar taste, a sort of homecooked meal. It's not overly seasoned yet with good flavor, but the sauces are a little greasy. Prices were reasonable. For two 2 entree meals and 2 drinks, we paid $23 plus tip (tip optional) Service was excellent; all our questions were answered with a smile on their face, and we shared our cultural similarities and felt welcome. The place quickly got busy with people who seemed regular, and service was similar to ours; it made us feel even better. It might not be the best spot for a large family gathering, but it is perfect for pick-up or a quick meal. Pro Tip: call ahead and order your lumpia; they will fry it as you order it.

Wow! I'm so glad this place came up on my Yelp feed while in the area. The restaurant is in the cutest building, an old house with plenty of parking. The food is already cooked so you can choose what you want behind the glass. The chicken adobo was the BEST I've ever had in my life! Even better than my mom's. They must have made it fresh, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was simply divine. Soak it up with rice! BBQ skewers, menudo and calderetta were also clear winners. They also had meals-to-go in refrigerated containers to heat at home like palabok and sisig. Too bad it's about an hour drive but it would be worth it just for the flavors alone. FIVE stars!

Went there for lunch a couple of weeks ago. I always feel nervous about going to different spots idk why...so I walked in and they have a buffet setup with different dishes. You get 2 meats and rice. So I ordered the Adobe chicken and curry chicken. The curry chicken was seasoned very well and very balanced. Very tasty! The abobo chicken was a little sweet, you could taste it in the sauce. Overall a good lunch bargain by today's standards for$10.

The food was excellent and the lady was very helpful and assist me with ordering things that I had no clue what they were but just looking at them. She was telling me exactly what they were called. It's a super small family owned place so don't expect too much except super yummy Filipino food! I highly recommend this spot if you're ever near the Fort Washington area.

I visited on a Saturday around 3:30pm. From the moment I parked until after I finished my meal and left, the front door was consistently revolving with patrons, majority looked like regulars. There were quite a bit of Filipino families and individuals that ordered while I was there so if I had to rate the quality on authenticity, I'd say they nailed it. I told the young lady it was my first time visiting and I asked her what everything was and she was polite the entire time as she explained the dishes. The meals are served cafeteria style and some things are made to order such as the fried pork I wanted but the smallest size was 1lb. Since I was by myself I didn't want to bother but next time I'll bring someone or my kids so they can share. I decided on the platter which was $11+ and a desert $6+ bringing my total to $18 and change. The platter consisted of rice and two entrees. I wanted to get something I was familiar with (chicken adobo) and an unfamiliar dish (a sliced pork and pork sausage in sweet tomato base sauce). Both were very good. The sausage was flavorful and what I would think was homemade. The desert was different but reminded me of a soupy warm rice pudding as far as taste but more-so coconut flavor. There were pieces of plantain and what I thought was sweet potato but it wasn't as well as another item that was chewy almost like a dumpling. I would get the desert again. I dined outside at the single four chaired table on the front porch of the restaurant and was unbothered except for the occasional fly or two. I would definitely visit again to try more authentic Filipino eats. For visuals, visit @CultivatedKeyEats on TikTok and IG

Customer service was top notch! Pork steak, flavorful and melt in your mouth tender!!! Chicken BBQ (not pictured) didn't make it home. One star taken, as pancit was a tad dry.

Like many businesses in National Harbor, Mason's is a chain. They have several locations across the US and a few locations in...Italy? That was a curveball I wasn't expecting. Anyway, it was lunchtime when we entered but fortunately not too crowded so we were able to grab a table. It's not a large space - there's ~4 tables inside as well as some stools, plus more tables outside. The menu is mostly rolls - lobster rolls of course, but they also have shrimp and crab with various accents. Most of the rolls are offered Connecticut style (warm with butter) or traditional (cold with mayo). They also have a few sides and salads. I noticed they had a lunch special, which came with a roll of my choice plus a drink and side. I can take or leave lobster - but the crab roll was speaking to me so I went with that, Connecticut style. The roll itself was good - a balanced portion of crab that had good flavor and tasted fresh. The bun was toasted ever so slightly, and held all the crab meat well. I had a bag of potato chips for my side which were...chips, yes. Service was fine, and overall I had good experience at Mason's. Is it the epitome of lobster rolls? No, but if you're craving them in the area then this fits the bill.

Captain White Seafood Review - 10/10…read more If fresh seafood is what you're looking for, Captain White is one of my favorite places to shop. I've been there several times, and the quality has always been consistent. It's always busy, which tells me people know they're getting fresh seafood. Even when the parking lot is packed, there's plenty of free parking, so I've never had trouble finding a space. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a seafood market. You'll smell fresh fish when you walk in, but it's not an unpleasant odor--it's simply the smell of fresh seafood. One of the things I appreciate most is the staff. They've always been friendly, patient, and helpful whenever I've needed assistance or had questions. Over the years, I've purchased crabs , oysters , black bass, whiting, trout, spot, crawfish , and shrimp . Every purchase has been fresh and delicious. Their tartar sauce is also worth picking up if you're planning a seafood dinner. Now, I'm not a crab expert, so I can't compare them to every seafood market around. I can only speak from my own experience, and the crabs I've purchased have always been good. If you're going for crabs, get there early. They sell quickly, especially during the summer months. Another reason I keep coming back is the daily specials. They often have great seasonal deals, making it a perfect time to stock up on fresh seafood. Final Rating: 10/10 Fresh seafood, helpful staff, free parking, and consistently great quality make Captain White a place I'll continue to recommend.

Today, I didn't see that cook, so I decided to give someone else a try. Unfortunately, the experience was not the same. Something with great food, great drinks, and great ambiance. After checking a few places, Succotash at National Harbor fit the bill perfectly -- close, reliable, and unforgettable on our last visit. I told Tiffany to dress sexy and comfortable because we were going somewhere special. She immediately activated her detective mode -- no training, just natural talent -- asking me the same question in ten different ways trying to crack the surprise. But when we pulled up to Succotash, her eyes said everything:I did good. The Welcome Inside, we were greeted by Ellis, who had the kind of warm, inviting smile that makes you feel like you're walking into a friend's home. She asked if it was a special occasion, and I proudly said,"Yes -- I'm taking this beautiful woman out for date night." Ellis promised us a great table. The first one wasn't our vibe, and she happily moved us to one we loved. That's hospitality done right. Then Chen V., our waitress, arrived with great energy, menu suggestions, and the confidence of someone who knows the food is going to blow your mind. Starters & Drinks We began with the All the Bites platter: Deviled eggs (three kinds!) Crispy Korean Cauliflower Fried pickles As Chen walked away, I read the description for Jamie's Cornbread with hot honey-brown butter and immediately called her back. My mouth was already watering. The Entrées Tiffany ordered Shrimp & Grits, her forever favorite.I ordered Crispy Blue Catfish with Collard Greens, my forever favorite. The starters arrived with five‑star presentation -- and the taste matched it.We both agreed: All the Bites and the Cornbread were outstanding. Tiffany's Shrimp & Grits came out beautifully. She loved it -- shrimp cooked perfectly -- though she could've used a little more seasoning. My catfish?Outstanding.Crispy, flavorful, beautifully plated. The collard greens cooked with smoked turkey were perfect. And what I thought was thinly sliced lettuce turned out to be one of the best slaws/coleslaws I've ever had. The Cornbread That Stole the Show The cornbread with hot honey-brown butter melted in my mouth like it had been waiting its whole life for this moment.Sweet, buttery, warm -- the kind of cornbread that makes you close your eyes and rethink your priorities. Succotash was hitting every note. ‍ A Visit from the Manager The manager -- they called him AB -- stopped by to check on us.Great touch.Great timing.Great service. Dessert Drama Everyone knows I'm a dessert guy.I studied the menu like it was a final exam and chose the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie, with Chen backing me up on adding vanilla ice cream. She packed our leftovers and brought the pie.It looked scrumptious...But to my horror, it wasn't warm. Now, I didn't ask for it warm -- but when you add ice cream, you assume warmth is part of the deal.Cold pie + melting ice cream = dessert confusion. I still ate most of it (I'm dessert crazy), but it wasn't the ending I dreamed of. Final Verdict Even with the cold‑pie plot twist, the night was outstanding. The food, the staff, the ambiance -- everything was top‑tier.Succotash delivered a perfect surprise date night and a perfect grandparents recovery dinner. We'll be back -- and next time, we're trying the Taste the South family‑style menu.
