I discovered this place on TikTok while searching for good food in Fort Washington. I was in the area after church on Easter, and many restaurants were closed, so I'm glad I came across it. From the outside and inside, the restaurant looks like a house. They have a seating area and a restroom available. They also sell Filipino snacks and other items, kind of like a bodega or corner store, which reminded me of places in New York. The food was great and the service was friendly and patient, especially since it was my first time. I ordered what I thought was a 1 item-entree, but it turned out to be a 3-entree meal. I swapped rice for pancit (a small upcharge), and also got beef, 3 chicken kebabs, and freshly made lumpia. Everything came out to about $30, and I still had leftovers, which was a great value. There are many options to choose from and all of your dishes come with rice. The restaurant has a very laid-back vibe and homey feel. There is indoor seating available for dining Inn as well as outdoor seating and what looks like a former home off of Livingston Road The food is very flavorful and most importantly, seasoned The pancit canton (filipino stir-fry noodles), barbecue on a stick, fried fish, dinuguan, menudo, and my favorite.....fresh lumpia transports me back to a trip I was able to experience in Manila years ago. They also have a market with packaged foods, refrigerated meals and grocery goods like chips, Asian/Filipino snacks, candy and baked goods like....steamed buns and ube cake to go. I grabbed an order of the frozen 7 Lumpia rolls to go to cook at home later this week during one of pretend to be Food Network "Next Top Chef" nights after work...lol. We enjoyed our visit and meal. Mang has more options than I am used to, but if you do not eat pork, options become very limited. In our case, we enjoyed some pork dishes we had not tried before. Food had a very familiar taste, a sort of homecooked meal. It's not overly seasoned yet with good flavor, but the sauces are a little greasy. Prices were reasonable. Wow! I'm so glad this place came up on my Yelp feed while in the area. The restaurant is in the cutest building, an old house with plenty of parking. The food is already cooked so you can choose what you want behind the glass. The chicken adobo was the BEST I've ever had in my life! Even better than my mom's. They must have made it fresh, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was simply divine. Soak it up with rice! BBQ skewers, menudo and calderetta were also clear winners. I visited on a Saturday around 3:30pm. From the moment I parked until after I finished my meal and left, the front door was consistently revolving with patrons, majority looked like regulars. There were quite a bit of Filipino families and individuals that ordered while I was there so if I had to rate the quality on authenticity, I'd say they nailed it. I told the young lady it was my first time visiting and I asked her what everything was and she was polite the entire time as she explained the dishes. The meals are served cafeteria style and some things are made to order such as the fried pork I wanted but the smallest size was 1lb. Since I was by myself I didn't want to bother but next time I'll bring someone or my kids so they can share. I decided on the platter which was $11+ and a desert $6+ bringing my total to $18 and change. The platter consisted of rice and two entrees. I wanted to get something I was familiar with (chicken adobo) and an unfamiliar dish (a sliced pork and pork sausage in sweet tomato base sauce). Both were very good. The sausage was flavorful and what I would think was homemade. The desert was different but reminded me of a soupy warm rice pudding as far as taste but more-so coconut flavor. There were pieces of plantain and what I thought was sweet potato but it wasn't as well as another item that was chewy almost like a dumpling. I would get the desert again. I dined outside at the single four chaired table on the front porch of the restaurant and was unbothered except for the occasional fly or two. They operate out of a small house next door to Smoke shack Ribs on Livingston Road. We were actually getting ribs but I ran inside to see if they had sisig so I can try them out. They had a cafeteria style setup with several popular dishes to order from. They packaged the sisig in separate containers and had them sitting on a refrigerated shelf. I noticed they used more than just pork belly which I liked. Doesn't come with rice either. It tasted good, could have been a little more flavorful in my opinion. I really liked the pork and beef. They were both well seasoned and a on the sweet side , very rich. The rice was good. Def would try this again. Combo 2: rice, sausage and chicken adobo. Burmese, Thai, Indonesian, etc is similar and they do sit down and in some cases table clothed dinners. Instead every Filipino restaurant has this cafeteria style setting. Last sit down with a touch of class in Chelsea in NYC. It was called Manila and the food was excellent. Still Lumings had a good selection of food and eating with my Aunt, Dad and cousins they all agreed it was better than most. I had Caldereta De Vaca and Beefsteak. It was delicious. There Halo Halo was spot on as well. My only complaint is the food was warm. I prefer food to be served temp hot not warm but this is par for these kind of places. Service was good but the server assumed I spoke the tongue which I do not and have just low grade school level understanding of the language. No points offs for any of this. She switched to English and the ordering was made easier. What did make me take a point off was just the barrio style ambiance. Maybe clean up and spruce up the dinning area a bit. It is a mix of mismatched chairs and tables that needed a good wipe down. Serious I hate dining in Filipino places because barrio style seems acceptable. It is small so it would not take much $$$ to make it more welcoming and appealing to eat in. My review sounds negative but it is not meant to be. I actually stopped in here randomly with a friend after a kayaking trip and instantly knew this would be good. I tried the chicken skewers over rice and also had some of my friend's chicken adobo. Both were amazing. What was even more impressive was the price. Including a drink my meal was right near $10. It is really hard to find food like this for this price point nowadays. Cute li'l Filipino family owned restaurant. An assortment of authentic dishes, although I'm no expert on the cuisine, everyone (other patrons) inside was Filipino and said the food was legit. I just know good food when see, taste and smell it, and this food satisfied all three senses. The two ladies behind the counter were very engaging and affable. Lots of smiling and laughing. Great personalities. One of them gave me a spoon to sample two dishes. The first was a slow roasted pork dish in a light brown gravy which is to die for. Reminds you of chicharrones only without the crispy outside. Very juicy and well seasoned. Not sure what's called but it's delicious. The other was a beef dish again in light brown sauce with bell peppers and onions. Having tasted both, I couldn't decide and went back and forth mentally to the point of even annoying myself. They don't offer a combo platter consisting of the two entrees, so I settled on a medium size of the pork which I will put over my own jasmine rice - since all they sell is plain white rice. The medium pork was $9. They have a $10 minimum purchase on credit card purchases which is kind of annoying because either you pay them in cash to avoid it, or you have to go for the upsell thing and buy a drink or something that you may not necessarily want. I paid in cash. I don't particularly care for minimum purchase requirements at any store or restaurant, anywhere. Overall this place is unique so I would come back the sample more Filipino cuisine. Everything we tried was good and their lumpia is made to order. It was fresh and hot. The pork lumpia was a little salty but still tasty. The empanadas were delivered to the store. Holy moly! This place is just too good to be true. It's a small hole in the wall Filipino restaurant in Fort Washington. This was my first time at a Filipino restaurant so I was curious to know their cuisine. Thanks to their amazing staff for explaining their various dishes to me. I am glad that there was no one after me to order so I took extra time asking them some questions about their stew. They have a nice entree combo for $7.50. Two entrees and rice. So after almost 10 mins we decided to try chicken stew and spicy beef stew with potatoes and carrot for the first entree and for the second one we went all pork i.e. pork stew and sweet barbecue pork stew with rice. They have plenty of other meat and veggie options. For dessert we tried their creamy corn. It was delicious! Their portion is unbelievable! For that price, the quality and quantity is amazing! Finally had a chance to stop in at Lumings, and was not disappointed. Small shop here with a few seats and lots of dishes/desserts/baked goods for sale! We came on a weekend morning, so naturally went with a plate of garlic rice, longanisa and tocino (with an egg). Delicious, and a huge serving for $8 (+$1 for the egg). We also tried the pancit malabon which was tasty, the arroz caldo (a bit cold, but we took it home and warmed it up - delicious), two fried lumpia (again, delicious). I bought some maja blanca and a couple ensaymada's to go which were delicious. Wish this were a tad closer, but will keep this in mind and come when I need a quick and easy Filipino fix. Authentic Filipino cuisine is located at Lumings. The food is hot off the serving line. You get a nice amount of food for the price. I saw the menu will increase in price come June 1st BUT, so is gas and everything else in Md. There are a few tables and chairs to sit inside as well as outside. We had a great lunch here for 8 people. We all Got a variety of food. I really wanted dinaguan and crispy pata but they didn't have any ready. I opted for the fried rice with curry chicken and some green collard looking greens with coconut. They were both delicious! Very tasty and tender. Curry chicken had a lot of bones but very flavorful. Needed the rice to soak up all the gravy. My hubby got longinisa with fried rice and eggs. The eggs were a bit over cooked. The longinisa was savory. The staff looked like it was a family. Arrived in DC famished at 3:00 pm and this is the only Filipino restaurant open along the way. It's a house turned restaurant in the first floor. So it's what you call "turo-turo" and they have a lot of food to choose from, even fried fish. They have a small refrigerated section with Filipino delicacies and some Goldilocks products. They also have some shelves with traditional snacks like chichacorn. The place is clean and they have a small patio seating. I ordered the Combo meal with rice +2 (dinuguan and menudo). I was hoping the diniguan was a little sour and flavorful but it's not. It had a little kick to it though. The menudo was better and cooked traditionally with liver and raisins. Overall, it hit the spot. The flavor of Filipino dishes greatly vary and depends on where the cook/chef is from in the Philippines. So I'm basing my review from a Visayan (my mom) perspective. read more

This is definitely going to be one of my go-to places for Filipino food. Damn, I feel like I'm home. Legit Filipino food, friendly staff, hilarious conversations with the patrons and staff, Filipino music blasting from a phone, Filipinos singing along, and the restaurant is part of a house. I feel like I'm at a relative's house. The sinangag (garlic fried rice) is not as sticky as I'd like it to be, but it is perfectly cooked and the flavor is exactly as it's supposed to be. I can just eat that alone. The tocino wasn't too sweet like how others like it. It was sweet enough to where I didn't get diabetes. For those of you that don't know what tocino is, it's basically Filipino bacon, but thicker than American bacon and more meat-like. The pork bbq on a skewer is thinner than I'm used to but they got the sweet sauce and charred ends just right. The pancit was so perfect that I couldn't stop eating it. I want to eat more and more of it but I'm so damn full. The pancit here is made with thin noodles (I don't like the thick ones), celery, carrots, snow peas, and pieces of meat. However, mine only came with celery and carrots somehow with the heaping scoops of pancit they put on my plate, but that's how I like it! I also ordered the small, fried milkfish but I'm saving that for later. They have other entrees like menudo, laing, Bicol express, paksiw, munggo beans, pinakbet, and I think dinuguan. They have a small snacks section, desserts in a fridge, and soft drinks/coconut juice in the fridge as well. This place is across Public Storage (orange roofs). It's easy to miss if you've never been here before. Look for a house with a red roof. Also, roll down your windows when you're in the area and follow your nose.
