Smoked Chicken Wings
Fred L.

The family and I were staying at the Gaylord and came here for dinner. Many of the other restaurants had a wait but this one didn't. That was a sign. Though the wait staff that took care of us was attentive, there were a number of other staff that acted like they were totally disinterested in serving customers and did not want to be there. My daughters (10 and 12) had the chicken strips and fries and they did not like them at all. I tried them and confirmed that both were bland and flavorless. The fries did not even have salt. Who serves fries with no salt? I had the BBQ smoked wings. I have to admit that they were good. Overall the experience was sub-par and I would recommend going elsewhere.

If you're looking for a good place to get some BBQ, you've found one. The brisket was pretty good, coleslaw was great, but the corn was not. The corn was mush and lacked any real flavor, but the rest of the meal made up for it. Service was good, and overall worth stopping by for a solid meal.

What an incredible experience! When our group (the Grubbing Buddies) arrived at Brother Jimmy's BBQ at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD, we were told we couldn't sit on the patio outside. Instead, we had to grab a table indoors where both the music and football games on the huge TV screens were loudly blaring. When our waitress arrived, we asked again if we could sit in the outside area, and she this time she said, "Follow me," and just like that, we were outdoors with no earth-shattering noises. We then started our order. While the menu offered a variety of options, we all settled on the many samplings of flavored wings and, I gotta tell you, those wings were very tasty and satisfying. Their "Big Rich's Chicken Wings" saved the day. We got the BBQ smoked & grilled ones, along with the Spicy Buffalo wings served with ranch and blue cheese dressing. This was all we needed, except for my "Raging Bitch" beer, that was delicious too. again, I would like to return and try more of their many offerings, hopefully, in the near future.

A solid choice for all types of BBQ and a good time with family and friends. Love the rustic vibe of the place. We had the pulled pork which was excellent. The pork had great flavor, which is good because their Carolina Vinegar Sauce wasn't particularly good. Skip it. My wife had the chicken which she loved. I'd love to try the brisket 'cause based on the pulled pork and chicken, it is probably good. Portions are generous and they offer a nice selection of sides. Our service was great! A bit sassy, but in a friendly, fun way. Brother Jimmy's has outside seating, TV's, a few arcade games, and a full bar to make this a great place to eat, drink, play, and hang out. Oh, I had to buy the T-shirt.

This was posted by the bathrooms. I guess this is their attempt at humor. But since the place was filthy, I'm not sure.

This was a truly disappointing trip. The service was disinterested. The place was flat out filthy. The food was mid to poor in taste and quality. I got the burger with bacon the bacon was hard as a rock and the fries were limp. My daughter couldn't tell the difference between the pork and the chicken, and the mac and cheese was served cold. I went to the men's room before leaving and it looked like it wasn't cleaned in a month. As the party next to me paid and left, no attempt was even made to clean the table. On a street with plenty of options, I would skip this place.

Loved this place! Pulled pork, brisket and fries! Fries are delicious! 3 options for bbq sauce! Cool vibes, lots of tvs, 2 basketball arcades, 2 ski balls, pool table. Right across the street from Gaylord national hotel! Lots of shops in this area on the harbor!

Wow. I do not enjoy these types of reviews but I must help my community out. This place is just uneventful. Uneventful service uneventful flavor uneventful environment. All was bland and small servings and poor service. We had to wait on refills and the flavor of every sauce was uneventful. Bland and lacked any imagination at all. Not to mention that it was overpriced for what it was. I would recommend that you try someplace else. I wanted to like it but was let down.

Food: I have been here many times before. What happened to this place. Wow has it changed. I dont know if i would come back. The catfish was not good at all. Way over cooked and tasted burnt. The corn was so bad i couldnt finish it. Lastly the cord bread was soooooo dry i took 2 bites. Wow. Soooooo bad. Never again.

Came here with a couple friends who were staying at the Gaylord. Honestly, for the price I did expect a little more out of this. The chicken sandwich was a bit disappointing. The sauce lacked flavor, and the chicken itself was dry. The potato salad could have used some extra seasoning to elevate it. On a brighter note, my friend really enjoyed the Brussels sprouts! They were delicious, but unfortunately, her burger was undercooked. She requested medium-rare, but it came out closer to rare. Another friend had a positive experience with the brisket. The cornbread was a highlight, with generous portions. However, the side sauces seemed watered down and lacked the expected punch. Overall, the meal was a mixed bag. The fried pickles were a fun starter, though a bit on the small side. While some dishes fell short, there were some bright spots as well. Another note -- parking kind of sucks. Its $5 for 1.5 hours in a garage and not that much side parking.

Not sure why the service got such bad reviews, I went with friends on a Friday night and service was spot on from the hostess and waitress to runners. Food was good. I had the fried chicken platter with fried brussel sprouts. Chicken was hot, flavorful and you get 4 pieces! The brussel sprouts were too oily. Platter came with a decent piece of cornbread (lightly sweetened and with bits of corn). My friends shared the bbq wings and beef brisket nachos. The wings were great, but nachos were too sweet a too heavy bbq sauce that overpowered the cheese sauce.

Visited with my family and was so dry. Tho this would be good bbq but it's actually not real bbq at all. The ribs are dry and tasteless obviously parboiled or precooked. We couldn't even eat them. You outthink the waiter would care or ask but nope. The employees are very unfriendly. Drag around so lazily and dropped about 20 F bombs right in front of me and my grandkids so disrespectful. Where is management???? Do not go here anywhere else in the harbor is better than this. Catfish over battered define more batter than fish. And hard over crunchy batter.

My friend and I went here on a whim for food a few nights ago and we thought that BBQ would be a great pick. Boy, we were definitely wrong that night. Upon walking in, there's lots of neon lit signs and lots of décor of old logos from soda/alcoholic companies. It's nice over all but we're here for the food. We were sat down by our waiter and we probably waited about 10-15 minutes before actually ordering our food. Perhaps the staff was short or so but it's also the weekend of a big convention (MAGfest) so maybe they should've planned better. We had a friend come through to dine in with us and our server did take his order promptly as well. By the time our orders was placed, more people came to sit down and it was started to get a bit packed. Looking at our watches, it has been 20 more minutes since we placed our order in. Then something really shocking happened to my friends and I five minutes later. Our server comes back and asks us to reiterate our orders again to her. I was very much confused as to believe maybe she wanted to confirm that our orders were up but no. She did not enter them in the system so we ended up sitting there like ducks for a good half hour. Our patience were getting really low at this point and we initially thought about walking out. After joking about the whole situation for a good 10 minutes, our food finally came out. I got the fried chicken dish which just came with fries in a basket and cornbread. I guess the only thing that's redeeming it from being a 1 star is that you get four pieces. It was surprisingly fried fresh, crunchy and salty like any good southern fried chicken. Fries were lukewarm but they had some crunch to it. I think it'd be better if they were warmer. The cornbread.... yeah no it was hard as a brick. It was so dry that I had to drink water and that did not even help. I do not know if this was left in the oven for too long but please do not serve your customers something inedible. Some other things I noticed was perhaps our waiter was the only one on the floor unless there were more but it does seem like she was talking majority of the orders of people that walked in. Lots of messy tables that haven't been bussed down. Eventually they did but that was when I left. Granted that was a two hour experience which I don't know if I could recommend this place. There's better BBQ places, and Brother Jimmy's BBQ isn't it.

After reading through a number of glowing reviews, I decided to give it a shot, and I am so glad I did. It lived up to the reputation completely. If you are planning a visit, consider this your warning to pace yourself because everything on the menu is worth ordering. My group definitely went overboard, but in the best way possible. We started with the deviled eggs, which my table mates raved about. I didn't personally try them, but based on how quickly they disappeared, they are clearly a must-order. The pork belly ssam was a standout, perfectly balanced and easily one of the highlights of the night. We also shared the dirty chicken and the tater tots, both of which hit the mark. For our sides, we opted for the namesake corn succotash and the seasonal ginger broccoli. Both were seasoned beautifully and complemented the heavier dishes well. It is rare to find a spot where the sides feel just as intentional and well-executed as the entrees. The drinks were just as impressive, rounding out the meal perfectly. My only advice for next time is to exercise a little more restraint because while I want to try everything on the menu, the portions are generous. I will definitely be heading back soon to work my way through the rest of the offerings. It is a solid choice for anyone looking for elevated Southern comfort food in a great atmosphere.

The manager, Geoffrey, was delightful, he personally catered to our needs, made us feel genuinely welcomed, and turned Succotash into a true home away from home for our visit. I ordered the Vibrant Vegan bowl with falafel, brown basmati rice, lentils, tabbouleh, hummus, pickled onions, cabbage slaw, and lemon garlic sauce. Every ingredient tasted fresh and intentional. The falafel had a perfect crisp exterior while staying soft and herbaceous inside, and the lemon garlic sauce tied everything together beautifully. As someone who loves Cava, this immediately gave me that same customizable Mediterranean experience -- but honestly, this bowl held its own. The vegetables were crisp, the portions generous, and everything looked just as good as it tasted. Even after taking it back to the hotel, it still ate incredibly well. The staff moved the line efficiently despite how busy it was, and the open kitchen concept added to the experience watching everything being prepared fresh. Update: I don't know how to respond directly to you Ryan but unfortunately our party of 7 was only in town a few days to celebrate our daughter's college graduation. Truly though, the lack of service couldn't have been lost on our server or your mngmt that evening (unless we were just that ignored and overlooked sitting in the middle of your outdoor space) because it should've been made right that same evening with even a simple apology or explanation for the night as a whole by your manager. Hopefully our experience was a one time deal for you and it'll be lost in sea of 5 star ratings. But no thank you, we won't be coming back.
