My family and I went to this restaurant for Mother's day breakfast. Going there I figured we would be waiting for bit but when they took our name they said it shouldn't be long at all, about 20 mins. After about 30 min. past and every body that came in after us had been seated, I figured I go see what the hold up was. So at that moment they tell us it's going to be about another 30 min. We ended up waiting for over an hour to be seated. We spoke with the manager (Eduardo Sanchez) who by the way is extremely rude and kept speaking over me and would not even hear our point of view about being up front about wait times. He has no customer service skills at all, HORRIBLE!! If you have a big party, especially on a holiday I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. read more

We just got off the i5 looking for food, stopped in at lumberjacks, extensive menu, extremely clean, the cleanest restrooms I have ever found, food was great, great, great. I am a vegetarian, my mom and husband are meat eaters and we all found a meal we loved. When we come back here again we will always come to eat here. Carrie was our server, great server, we were seated quickly and the food was served quickly. We have absolutely no problems with the way the restaurant is run. overall a great dining experience. I'm a fan. Really generously sized portions of very tasty food. The staff is nice. There can be a bit of a wait because it's so popular. It was a nice change up from Denny's. Lumberjacks definitely has more variety on the menu. I loved my skillet, and my friend loved her omelet. We'll be back. read more

This place is fantastic. Very bustly, very clean, portions are at times, huge! Meals start at around 10-12 bucks a plate not including drink, but it seems fair considering the amount of food you get. And it's delicious. I've yet to try anything I didn't like. Staff is great, pretty atentative, service is fairly fast for a sit down restaurant, I like their coffee and I love their banana nut bread French toast. We're always happy when we leave here, although the wait to get a table can sometimes be quite long, as it's apparently no secret how good the food is.. but that's mostly on the weekend. I'm conflicted about this place. Service was somewhat slow, and their prime rib managed to be tough (a crime in my book), but their pot roast was very good, as are their mashed potatoes, burgers, and their steaks. They also did a great thing with their baked potato, which is coat the outside with garlic salt, making it one of the tastiest baked potatoes I've had at a restaurant. The decor simply looks like they've taken a log house and put a bunch of saws and (for some reason) snow shoes on the walls. Did not particularly affect the atmosphere read more

We eat at Lumberjacks several times a year. The food is consistently good and the portions are sizable. I often order off the Senior menu as I don't need to eat THAT much food. Friendly staff, even if they are occasionally slow and harried. If your are looking for gourmet at a budget, forget it, but if you want upscale diner, try it out! read more

I love Lumberjacks, the food is great, the service friendly and prompt! You can see the management working on the floor making sure things are running as smooth as possible in a very high volume restaurant. The Chicken Fried Steak is a great deal and has melt in your mouth potatoes. The biscuits you could tell where freshly made and huge and delicious. The bathroom was very clean, and so was the entire restaurant. The smiling staff makes it all work well, because you feel welcome and acknowledged almost the second you walk in the door, and I must say the service is the best in town. I liked the cute atmosphere (always a factor in the restaurants I choose) and the people were just lovely. Kind of odd that they asked if we needed more coffee three times in a row haha. I love the breakfasts here. We decided to give dinner a try tonight. Stick with breakfast. The hostess, never smiled. The waitress we had was great, attentive, and made sure all was ok. Hamburger was a hamburger, it had set under the heat lamps for awhile, while they were making my French dip. The French dip was average, not much flavor to the roast beef and I had mashed taters and gravy instead of fries and should have gone with the French fries. The gravy could have been better. What is everyone raving about??? Our waitress, Mary was so cold faced and inattentive. She only refilled my coffee once, didn't ever fill another persons at the table. We came her for the hotel breakfast that came with our room. It's like they look at the order and know what the hotel offers and half a** it because they don't care. A gentleman next to us had the exact same oatmeal bowl and got twice as much. My pancake was so cold, it couldn't melt butter. Mary was in such a foul mood that a sweet little thing named Sarah had to pick up her stack. Glad I didn't pay much. read more

Hi Anyone eat dinner at Lumberjacks on Thur 25,2011 and got sick with in a few hour should call. My Father-in-Law and my Husband And I had dinner thier about 6:00pm. We all had meat dishes and all three of us got sick with in 4 hours of eatting their. All 3 of us got sick at the sametime. We got food poisoning. We had dairrher and vomiting, we were sick all day friday. So if you ate thier and got sick you need to call them. I call and they siad they would send me a gift certificate. Yes right. I come to Redding once month for an overnight stay for work. I usually eat at the Black Bear diner - but it was closed for a Holiday party. I noticed Lumberjacks was just down the street so I gave it a try. BAD service - after I was seated - it took close to 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge me. Once I placed and received my meal --- never saw the waitress again. The steak was fatty and small, the salad bar was awful and employees gathered to talk with themselves instead of providing any service. When they asked how the meal was when paying my check -- I said not very good... they looked at me, took my payment and didn't even say thank you! "Where the big boys eat"- I was definitely expecting larger portions or the chance to order a large steak; I was disappointed. This place is on par with most other restaurants with their portion size. I had the Rib Eye, with fries. The steak was good, tasty and tender. I didn't finish the fries, they were the same as you get at Wal-Mart. The mini-loaf of bread they serve was very good. They don't serve sweet tea nor Coca-Cola products, the liver and onions is beef liver and not chicken, and the seats were hard. Service was average but polite. read more

Poor service...we each ordered a BLT sandwich. When the order finally arrived, they left out the 'T'!!! When we finally got someone's attention they eventually brought put a plate with some tomatoes instead of taking them back and fixing our sandwiches. Really, a BLT without the 'T'! Looking for a good breakfast, we opted to come to Lumberjacks over the familiar Black Bear, as it was closer to the freeway exit and looked interesting. On the way there, we joked about how we could instead, grab a sandwich at the convenience store, microwave it and be on our way. The giant lumberjack statues were cool, as was the decor inside, so we thought we made the right choice. We walked up to the counter and waited. And waited. We watched someone behind the counter walk back and forth several times - never looking up even though we were right in front of her. When she finally did, she asked us what we wanted. "We want to eat, " we responded. (What did she think we wanted? To pay? Perhaps, but then she should have helped us do that if that was the case.) No, we were standing in the wrong place... We were seated by another waitress who seemed like she was entering a contest for the most efficient order ever taken. No sooner did we say we wanted eggs, that she asked how we wanted them cooked, over medium, toast? coffee? Such a hurry with no personality AT ALL. We listened to her take the order at the next table in the same manner - all business and no caring at all. Our potatoes arrived barely cooked - even the ones we specifically asked to be well done. The onions and bell peppers were there as requested - but almost raw and without a trace of flavor. Isn't that the waitresses job to make sure her orders are correct? On the plus side - the portions are huge - ideal if the food was as ordered and delivered with a smile. Again, the personality, or lack thereof, was the problem, as was the food quality. Next time we will stop by our consistently excellent standby - The Black Bear. Or perhaps we will grab a fast food sandwich and zap it in the microwave, be on our way, and be much happier with our choice. read more
