After coming by the house to take inventory, we scheduled the move for a Friday from Emeryville all the way down to San Luis Obispo...1st star for intrastate moving! Without hesitation, and on what I assume are busy weekends, Daniel agreed to pack up on Friday and head down the following day to meet us at our new place on Saturday instead of having us do it all in one day... 2nd star for customer convenience! 8 am start time? How about 7:45 instead! Also, the guys worked around our cleaning crew which had to come earlier than expected - a pain for sure, but they didn't complain and everyone pitched in to help. PLUS, I actually wondered out loud how they did this job without complaining about anything...3rd star for being prompt, flexible and having great attitudes! Daniel and Dennis packed up the house and did a great job with making sure everything was safe and secure for the move...4th star for everything getting here in one piece! Recently, our church had to move from our home of 40 years on the edge of Wildcat Canyon Park to the flatlands of Berkeley. On the basis of their Yelp reviews, we took a huge leap of faith and hired Lulu's to help us with the big move of our essential items for the first 30 days of operation at the new site. Our list of items included about 225 walnut cane-backed, upholstered-seat chairs, 100 boxes, a bunch of Sunday School cabinets and assorted materials, little people's chairs and tables, our freezer and kitchen island, and much much more. Perhaps the most astounding thing we needed moved was a huge, two-door commercial refrigerator that weighs tons. The kitchen access at the new site was so tight Daniel, Andre, Joey and Kevin had to lift this monster through a window into the kitchen--and they did so without even nicking a wall or scratching our floor. We had Dwight (team lead), Dennis, Carlos and Eddie help us with our move. Lulu's was very responsive and made me feel prepared for my move. On the day of, they arrived early and brought 2 trucks at no extra charge. They obviously know what they're doing as we stuffed the 2 trucks with our things and was so glad they had the foresight to bring the extra truck. They first told us they didn't think it'd go in due to how narrow the halls and doorway was, but after asking once if they could try (and this was after they've worked 9+hrs into our move and it was already dark outside), they all gladly said yes and said "it wouldn't hurt to try" Although if it didn't work, that would have mean breaking their backs even more to get it out of the narrow hallways, but they still wanted to give it a try since they could see we wanted it. Dennis made sure to line our wood floors and doorways with padding to prevent any damage, and the crew worked their magic and got the treadmill in. I thought I had already written a review, but I can't find it! So here goes... I employed Lulu's in July of 2018. I was moving across country, and needed to get my belongings from my apartment to the Uhaul location to be loaded onto UPods. My apartment was located in a tricky area, and on the top floor of a building that was the highest point in the area, and really difficult to move stuff from. These guys were absolutely awesome. They were friendly, professional, careful, and just generally great to work with. I also learned (because I asked) that the name Lulu is from the family pet (a parrot). They packed the UPods well and stuck around to make sure we were all set. Which is a million times more than I can say for UHaul, who were wretched to work with for the rest of my move. I have never posted a yelp review but my experience was bad enough that it should be shared. I moved from a one bedroom apartment from Oakland to Emeryville. I was quoted 3-5 hours for the move at 120/hr. The move took more than 9 hours which was quite shocking. The movers were not efficient and slow. I have moved with about the same amount of stuff a few times within the East Bay and each move only took 4 hours or less. I was charged over $1000 for the move and I do not have a lot of stuff. Response from the owner was to blame me for not having been prepared, elevator and distance from the curb, and such. I would use a different company for a move. read more

As a student, the month of June means two things: 1) 3 months of summer vacation - score! 2) the dreaded season of apartment hunting and moving - blah! After finding a new apartment, the thought of renting a U-haul and all the loading and unloading we would have to do was haunting me. He squeezed us in late on a Saturday night, but due to a miscommunication with the new leasing office, we weren't able to move into our new apartment that night. I called Dennis to explain our predicament and he was willing to help us move that next morning even though it happened to be Father's Day. On the day of the move, Dennis Jenkins and his crew (son + son's friend) arrived on time, were professional, friendly, and efficient. Definitely make sure to offer some water or drinks to these guys while they help you move - they deserve it! Why these guys are so great: - Very efficient! Packed and unloaded our 2 bedroom apartment in 3 hours flat, exactly what he quoted us. - Very careful with your goods! They wrapped a few of the more delicate items and furniture in plastic to protect them during the move. My belongings were in good hands and there was not a single scratch on anything. - Surprisingly strong! There wasn't anything that they couldn't move. - Will place all your belongings were you want in your new pad. A big time saver! Hiring movers is where it's at...I'd always suspected it, but never been able to afford confirming it. Dennis gave me a quote over e-mail, I had to remind him of it over the phone, and the date was set. He was hurt the day of the move but had two of his guys there on time. They loaded everything in my storage shed into their truck in about an hour, checking condition of furniture with me before they moved along. At my new digs they were even faster. It took them about two minutes to put a couch into the living room. I have witnessed professional furniture deliverymen as well as my nearest and dearest wrestle this couch for 30 minutes at a time in previous moves. They also protected the walls and doorjambs with pads. At the end the price was lower than I expected because there were only two movers instead of three. It ended up being $230 for a 3 hour move. When we did the same job on our own it took all day, and $100 in U-Haul, so I think it was worth it. I don't think I will ever go back the U-Haul route, unless I feel like punishing myself. read more

Daniel and his team (Solomon and Anthony) were great. Super professional, arrived exactly when they said they would. They charge $135/hr for 3 people and despite charging hourly, they move lightning quick. They basically had all of our 1 bdrm down in the truck from the 3rd floor in 1.5 hrs. Nothing was damaged and they worked with care. They treated our stuff like it was their own. Highly highly recommend these guys. Really great experience overall, didn't feel like they tried to gouge or cheat us in any way, and they were just nice guys. After some rough (read: extortionist) New York City moving experiences, I was prepared for the worst upon moving to Berkeley. Thankfully, Lulu's was the exact opposite of the mafioso movers I used the previous week in NYC. In fact, it was the best moving experience I've ever had, in part because it turned into a comedy show (in the best way possible). While they quickly and efficiently moved everything from my U-Pack trailer into their truck to transport to my new apartment, Daniel and Juan had non-stop banter running that almost made me drop a few boxes from laughing so hard. They finished the move (2 bedroom apartment) in 3 hours (in fairly heavy traffic), asked a fair price ($100/hr for 2 movers and the truck, plus tip), and were totally awesome. We used Lulu's Hauling twice this year and they made the move as smooth and painless as possible. Move #1: 2BR move. 3 guys and a truck. We packed everything, they loaded and unloaded super fast and professionally. Four hours. Very pleased. Move #2: 2BR move, 2 stops, 1 upright piano (for $250 extra). We packed most everything, they packed the clothes hanging in the closet (they have wardobe movers they let you use for free). They also packed the artwork and our large, heavy wall mirror (though we had to pay for these boxes & packing materials, and they were not cheap). Five hours including the packing and the piano! Wowza. That was lightning fast. I don't remember the guys in the first move, but the second move was with Daniel, Salomon, Mike, and Jose. Highly recommended! read more

My husband and I used Lulu's recently when we moved from Danville to the Oakland Hills. Daniel came out and walked through the house with my husband and gave a very detailed estimate, indicating that it was a "worst case scenario" and that it would likely be less. He was right! Our three man crew was Daniel, Solomon and Patrick and they were terrific. We had already packed pretty much everything so we just needed them to move things, but we had plenty to move, and plenty to move that was HEAVY. They asked us lots of questions about how we wanted different items handled, and were very careful moving every box and piece of furniture. They never once complained about the boxes packed with 100 lb of books (you think I'm kidding!) that our college age daughter packed. Once we got to the move-into house, they not only moved everything in, but also disconnected and moved out a washer and dryer that had been left behind and hooked up ours. We'd taken a door off the hinges to allow for furniture to move in, and they put the door back on - we didn't ask them to do that, they just took care of everything. We had no damage to anything; we would definitely use them again. In talking with the guys while settling up, they told us that they had the "easy" part - they just had to move, while we dealt with everything else and their job was to help us. What a great attitude for customer service. We also bought them sodas and lunch (they hadn't planned on even taking lunch!), which they appreciated. Overall, a great company to work with. One other bonus - because it's a small business, we were able to pay by check. These guys are awesome. They went above and beyond the call of duty. Dennis, Patrick and Kevin showed up on time and moved us out of our top floor apartment with no elevator in Berkeley into our loft with a tricky staircase in Oakland with out breaking a dish! They even helped us put together our table and hauled away a huge amount of heavy ikea furniture. They didn't just move our stuff in they actually put our furniture where we wanted it. These guys were *awesome*. I used Lulu to move from a 3-story 4-bedroom house that's down another flight of steps from street level ... a *lot* of steps! They moved everything gently but very quickly. They were also extremely friendly and endlessly helpful. They moved a lot of fragile stuff and inflicted zero damage, took apart a massive crib and reassembled it on the other end, even carried a massive couch around my new home and over an exterior wall to get it through a sliding door because it wouldn't fit through the front door. They also brought in a separate crew to haul off a huge load of garbage during the move. And it went off like clockwork, perfectly timed and expertly manned. They did all this at a very reasonable rate, and did it *fast*. I will be *definitely* be using Lulu the next time I move. Hell, I'd like to have them over for dinner too. I just had a solid 5 star experience with this moving company. I was moving a 1 bedroom apartment from Berkeley to San Francisco. The professionalism of these guys was amazing. They showed up 15 minutes early and went to work immediately. They handled even my crappy Ikea furniture like it was 300 year old antiques & wrapped & protected everything (blankets + plastic). The HOA guy monitoring the move said these were the best movers he's ever seen - and it's his job to watch movers & make sure they don't scrape walls. After seeing them maneuver dressers & a bed up a spiral staircase I can say that hands-down this is a solid crew. Two guys, $70/hr plus driving time. It took about 4 hours to move everything, and that includes hauling everything up 3 flights of stairs at the new place in 80 degree heat. Be nice to these guys and supply water & food. These guys are AWESOME. my partner and i decided to move in together recently, so it was 2 homes moving to a new one. the new place is a steep, winding stepped residence, which is at least 35 stairs to the front door. we did a 2 day move-a-thon, moving my place the 1st day, then hers the next. the guys showed up ON TIME on the respective days and got us both moved out and moved in in 2 1/2 hours each day. Dennis charges a flat fee and a one time setup fee. there are NO hidden charges.. not even mileage.... PLUS they didn't charge for the ungodly amount of stairs to even get to the front door. After the flat charges, and $80x3 men for tip, we only paid $715!!!! i think that's one helluva deal! There wasn't a ding, scratch or broken piece of anything, and they had awesome attitudes the whole time. some of the hardest workers ive ever seen. They made the whole moving process so much less stressful and i will definitely use them again if i have to move. I have already referred everyone i've talked to, to these guys. The crew was fabulous. Fast and efficient. They were an amazing team, who worked well together. They were friendly, conscientious and masked at all times. Every piece of furniture was blanketed and wrapped and my narrow staircase did not deter them. If it didn't go down the stairs, they figured out how to get it out the second story window. I couldn't possibly say enough great things about Lulu's, even if I sat here all day. We hired them to move us (our home and my partner's business) from San Francisco to LA. We had packed, but that's not to say this job was easy! Lulu's are total pros! Our house ended up being a lot more work than expected to pack (taking about 5 hours), but every single piece of furniture was meticulously wrapped, and packed. No one complained. Everyone was positive, happy and helpful. They then went straight to the business and did throw same thing again... despite the job running way into the evening, they packed up and drove straight to LA. Dennis and Pat are my absolute heroes. They showed up on time, managed to pack all of our stuff into their two trucks (I was amazed when I saw the two trucks packed), and got everything off the truck and into the right places. They even disassembled and re-assembled our bed and guest room day bed. I thought for sure I was going to have to be bothered with that annoying task. Man, these guys are efficient! They arrived almost an hour early to eat and relax after a big move earlier that day. They waited until exactly when they were supposed to show up (4pm) to knock on my door. They took only half the time (2 hours) that Dennis estimated over the phone ("about 4-5 hours") to move two rooms full of furniture and boxes. They wrapped everything in plastic and dismantled shelving. They had two medium-sized trucks from an earlier move that day. Both trucks were over 9 feet tall, so they did not fit through the parking garage entrance. Dennis watched the trucks while the two boys (one goofy, one chatty) each hauled up whole dressers by themselves. They're amazingly strong, carrying 2-3 boxes of books at a time down and up stairs. Leave some water bottles or glasses out for them, as they will need a drink of water now and then. I tipped generously, as I had saved so much from Dennis's initial estimate. They accept checks. I would definitely hire them again. UPDATE: I needed their services again a year later and they were even better than last time thanks to newer equipment. And Dennis literally gave me the shirt off his back just because I liked that it had the PB Blaster logo on it. read more

I moved 4 times in the past ten years and nothing compares to this company and how amazing and attentive they are! They are ontime, detail oriented, very careful not to damage your things, your house or the new house. They are extremely efficient with their time and space, got everything done quickly. One of the guys had amazing attention to detail, noticed every screw that was gone from our furniture, and fixed it on the spot! I hate moving... But with Lulu's the experience was as great as it could be. My husband and I moved from our condo on one side of town to our home on the other. A week before we were set to go, we both got sick with colds and were sluggish at getting the little things boxed up and ready to go. On moving day he brought 2 trucks and an extra guy (quote was for 3, brought 4 for same price). The guys all introduced themselves and shook my hand. Best! Movers! Ever! It took 11 hours to move out of our 3+ bedroom home to another one up 25 stairs just to get in the front door and three levels once inside. Including some hellacious big, heavy, awkward pieces (elliptical exerciser, commercial grade foosball table...weird stuff like that). I will run out of superlatives--prompt, extremely cheerful, careful of all our stuff and the walls and stairwells in both houses, completely professional and totally charming. LOVE THESE GUYS! Two days later, I asked them to come back and haul away the leftovers from the old house--garbage, furniture we didn't move, lots of recyclable and reusable toys, utensils, etc. Way better price than the usual haulers I've used in the past. Did I say I love these guys? They work very hard, were appreciative of the two cases of water we provided (it was a hot day!) and of the lunch we brought in from Wendy's. I used Lulu's Hauling with a move from San Francisco to Los Gatos and it was the best decision I made. My two movers were Joseph and Anthony and they couldn't have been better. They were 15 minutes early, friendly, cooperative, thorough, and very professional. They were adamant about making sure items didn't get damaged. Both apartments didn't have one mark on the walls. It was like our stuff transported from SF to the south bay. I would HIGHLY recommend using them for your move as they are the most friendly, professional, and thorough movers I've ever used. Lulu's Hauling did a great job hauling away discarded items from our basement and closets. Dennis is very professional and responsive and he assured us that the still usable items would be recycled or reclaimed. The crew who came to do the job were polite, efficient, friendly and took care not to damage anything in the yard or house. I have no hesitation in recommending Lulu's, they were amazing. Dennis was super friendly and helpful in setting up the reservation and talking through a relatively complicated 1 house-to-3 delivery locations move. On moving day, they arrived on time and were friendly, professional and fast (and when I say fast, I mean they were still jogging back and forth from the truck after 6 hours of moving - and we were their 2nd move of the day ... professional athletes, these guys).
