Gluten free/celiac safe homemade tortilla chips!!!! This was the first LuLu's I visited - I now go to the San Carlos one since it's a little closer to home - though I'd love it if they'd open one farther up the peninsula! I got the gluten free carnitas burrito bowl and a side of chips. So happy to have found LuLu's!

Super Burrito

Got a super burrito and horchata. After tip it was some how 26 dollars. This is too pricey for what I got. I understand it does match the price of the area but this is more absurd the usual. Size was good and food was ok and standard. Horchata was grainy which can be good or bad. Ok service soled and ok ambiance

This was an alright place to grab some Mexican food in downtown Los Altos - I got the carne asada burrito bowl ($12.50) which was a bit skimpy on the portion size. The bowl tasted fine and I enjoyed the amount of fresh tomatoes in the bowl, though it didn't really stand out to me as a dish. It tasted fresher and less fast-food-like than Chipotle, but portions were definitely significantly smaller. Entrees came with chips & salsa and my plate had like a dozen or so chips, but my friend's entree came with literally 4 chips, so she had to go back and ask for more. Given how cheap chips are, seemed a bit off-putting that they would skimp so much on that. On the other hand, the lulu-rita drink was excellent and refreshing and interestingly, was cheaper than my entree. We came for a weekend lunch and it was busy, but still possible to get a table and dine in despite the crowd. Parking can be hit or miss, since you'll need to find street parking or circle the public parking lots -- definitely more difficult during weekends. All in all, the food was decent, but it wouldn't necessarily be at the top of my list to visit again.

I haven't been here since Covid! Fish tacos - fish was nicely grilled and flavorful with fresh salad on top. Enchilada-- my boyfriend tried the pablano sauce . It was light and creamy. Not spicy . Chili relleno -- that was okay. The sauce was too runny and not enough cheese inside the chili. Taquitos--. Nice a crunchy , super good as an appetizer. Nice and casual place for a quick dinner.

I highly recommend Lulu's!! The tacos are tasty and spicy, served hot, with a variety of sauces and salsas to personalize the dish and give an extra kick. I ordered street tacos, which are served with a side of radish and lime. The meat of choice is heavily sprinkled with cilantro and finely chopped white onion. The location is in downtown Los Altos, a convenient and cute area decorated with succulents out front of the neighboring shops. I examined the menu and asked for water cups, which the staff promptly filled in advance rather than sending me to a refreshments bar with an empty glass. I sat outdoors to enjoy the weather, and the food was delivered to the table within minutes. The server offered mild red salsa and a spicy salsa verde to compliment our dishes. The feel of the restaurant is welcoming for all ages. The dishes are easily affordable for students to return to on a regular basis.

Carne Asada Burrito with Rice

A convenient spot in the Los Altos downtown, I stopped here for lunch during the Arts and Wine Festival. I've always been a fan of burritos, so I went with a carne asada and rice one, and loved it! It even came with a side of chips and salsa. The staff were very friendly and the food arrived fast too, which I'm always grateful for. I also loved the outdoor area, I enjoyed the burrito on some tables along the street right outside the shop that had a great view of the many artists that had come to share their art during the festival.

A good spot for Mexican food in the area. The huevos rancheros was okay but the enchilada plate was excellent! The tortillas were delicious and handmade. Lots of seating for the counter service

It's casual, quick, and dependable, which is exactly what I want from a good taco/burrito spot. Some people might look at the prices and think they're a little high, especially compared to other taquerias, but honestly, the portions make up for it. I usually order one burrito, al pastor is my favorite here, and it's easily enough for me to have leftovers or share with another person. So while it may not look like the cheapest option at first glance, it feels like a pretty solid value once you realize how much food you're getting. The al pastor burrito is flavorful, hearty, and always hits the spot. It's the kind of burrito where you tell yourself you're just going to eat half and save the rest, and then suddenly half turns into "just a few more bites." No regrets. Their salsa bar is also a big plus. It's fresh, and somehow always well-stocked, even when they're clearly getting crushed during the lunch or dinner rush. I appreciate that because a sad, picked-over salsa bar can really ruin the experience, and that has not been my experience here. Everything tastes fresh and gives you plenty of options to customize your meal. The agua fresca is also worth getting. It tastes super fresh, and they rotate flavors, which keeps things fun. Pineapple is my favorite when they have it, it's refreshing, not too sweet, and pairs perfectly with the burrito. Parking in downtown Los Altos can be a little tricky depending on when you go, but at least it's all free, just timed. You may have to circle once or twice, but for a solid burrito, fresh salsa, and a good agua fresca, it's worth it.

There's a small self-serve salsa station. The green sauce had the perfect taste without being too spicy. We tried the carne asada and the tripas. Tripas were perfectly crunchy (we made a point to ask for extra crispy). We also had a quesadilla, nothing to write home about, but the portion was very generous! The agua Fresca was also so good and not sweet. Service was fast and friendly. We came in on what seemed like downtime, so not sure how fast they operate when its bus.

Coming from Mexican & Afro-Latin families that COOK, my partner and I are rarely impressed enough to write one. However, the ambiance, quality of service AND food at El Comal are worth the visit! Tacos, sopes, soups, birria all delicious. Tortillas are handmade fresh when ordered and their menudo & posole are about as authentic as you can get. The staff is phenomenal and responsive, even when they're super busy. The menu changes to reflect what they have fresh/on hand which is commendable & more sustainable [wish more places did this]. The only downsides are chips n salsa are extra (understandable with the cost of things right now), they don't always have hominy or cabbage on hand for the menudo/posole, no dessert options without wheat/GF. Still, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My partner and I had a great experience back when they first opened in early 2025. I was one of the first Yelpers to review them and enthusiastically recommended El Comal to quite a few friends and work colleagues this past year. Last night got off to a bit of a strange start when our reserved table for five was not prepared in advance unlike the two seat table by the window which already had a reserved sign on it, ready for a couple that arrived 10-15 minutes after my party. They dragged over a 2 top and a couple chairs to complete our table. Once seated, we noticed right away that the menu had changed significantly. The beet salad that was the main dish my partner wanted to order...gone from the menu. The Sopa Azteca that I was looking forward to...also gone, and the "Soup of the Day" listed on the menu was not available at all. The light and airy tricolored tortilla chips were also gone, with denser and less crispy chips in their place. Even the mashed avocados in the guacamole had a slightly darker greyish color rather than the bright green you'd see in a fresh guacamole. My partner asked for a salad with no onions or cucumbers. Unexpectedly, the waitress quickly brought out a salad that had lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and onions. With no Sopa Azteca available, I ordered Enchiladas with Roja sauce. I was really puzzled when what was served was a cooled dish of Enmoladas topped with Mole sauce. Now I may not be Latino, but I know there's a huge difference between a roja sauce and a complex mole sauce. At first, I thought they may have misheard me when I ordered enchiladas. So when the waiter, who I believe is also one of the owners, tried to explain to me that they were similar and that they substituted enmoladas because they ran out of enchiladas, I had a few thoughts that I kept to myself. To his credit he offered to take the enmoladas back and let me order something else. But I very rarely send fully-prepared dishes back to the kitchen because it is wasteful and I'm not the type to openly complain. But if they had run out of enchiladas, I would expect that most restaurants would send someone to let me know before preparing and serving a completely different dish. That way I would have been able to order something else instead of getting a fully cooked dish that I wouldn't have ordered. I also didn't want to cause a fuss in front of my visiting guests so I kept the enmoladas and ate them in disbelief. The waiter brought by another dish (Bocolitos, I believe) on the house as we were nearing the end of our meal, which was a kind gesture. But the whole experience was such a letdown compared to the previous visits that I felt the need to update my review to better reflect the current state of the restaurant. One can only speculate about what's happening behind the scenes but based on our experience last night, there's been a noticeable decline in the selection and quality of the dishes as well as the service. In all likelihood, we won't be returning to El Comal after this sad turn of events.

The restaurant is well decorated, feels lively, and is very dark. Maybe a bit too dark - we had to use our flashlight on our phone just to read the menu. My mother usually orders fajitas when we go out to eat at mexican restaurant, but we did not see it on the menu, so we asked the server if they had it and he said yes! Now we know why it's probably not on the menu... The meat was SUPER oily, I mean like drenched in oil, if you put a flashlight on the dish, you will quite literally see a puddle of oil at the bottom of the bowl. Second, the meat is very very tough and dry, similar to some meat you would reheat in the microwave after leaving it in the fridge for a few days. This dish is literally unacceptable and the worst part is the fact it costs $29. DO NOT ORDER THIS. Since, this was a dinner for an early mother's day. We did not want to cause any complaint or trouble to the restaurant as it was super packed. We just won't be coming back here anymore. The server himself was friendly, but man did the service suck. We had to flag down someone every time to bring water, chips, and the check. There was no staff check in ever. In fact, they actually lost my credit card and we were waiting around 10- 15 minutes to just get our check back. Everything took forever and the service was super slow. It was a lot of sitting and waiting for each thing. Losing my credit card and having us wait 10-15 minutes to get it back is unacceptable for a professional restaurant that is not on the lower end of things either.

My toasted bagel tasted stale and had an insufficient amount of butter, which has never happened to me before at any brunch spot. I asked for more to try and see if that would improve the taste. It did not. Service was lacking. They were not busy when I arrived at 8:30, but none of the servers were very engaged. My empty water glass sat empty for over 45 minutes and was never refilled.
