We finally checked out this charming - elegant lil spot and it was fabulous! We ordered off the restaurants weeks menu, I had the burrata toast bread and my spouse ordered the calamari. It made the perfect combination to share but the size of the calamari was impressive & delicious. For our main course we ordered the Chicken Marsala and the Pasta with Beef Angus Tips - finger licking good but I recommend that you do not do this in public. Dessert - Tiramisu and Creme Brûlée - both fresh, light and creamy. Definitely will be adding LuLu's to our ongoing rotation! read more

I've driven by this place numerous times, so I was excited when we came here for a friends baby sprinkle. I was a little put-off from the start when it took way too long for someone to offer us drinks. I ordered the arugula and pear salad as an appetizer (which never came out), and the carbonara entree - which was just ok. I've had much much better elsewhere in Houston. Very quaint, cute restaurant but the food did not seem on par with the price points and service was quite slow and lacking. read more

A friend wanted to bring me here for my birthday and after seeing the reviews I was skeptical, but man was I pleasantly surprised!!! Summary: the restaurant was elegantly decorated, the food was great, and the server was a sweetheart. A more detailed dive into the food below. Arugula and Pear Salad: SO YUMMY! Would come back for this and the bread service alone. The description said it had gorgonzola and I was scared it would be nasty but somehow it all works and the gorgonzola isn't as pungent as you'd think. There was these amazing candied pecans (or walnuts maybe?) that added the perfect crunch and sweetness paired with the tangy vinaigrette. Just overall a really solid and yummy salad. Portion was big enough for 2 of us to share as an appetizer. Bread Service: thick slices of bread with honey butter and olive oil + balsamic vinegar on the side. I love carbs and I love dipping them in yummy things, so it was a win win for me. The bread itself was also great with a nice crunchy crust and warm soft inside. Guavissimo Mocktail: This was just okay. I would definitely skip it, not worth the $13. Carbonara: I don't eat pork so we ordered it with no pancetta (my friend actually got it on the side and said it was yummy, but I have no idea). The carbonatta was good but it just needed salt, like I'm not sure if the pancetta was supposed to provide the saltiness, but it was very bland. I feel like if it was salted properly, I could have really enjoyed it. We asked for salt on the side but it didn't really make that much difference since the pasta was already fully cooked. Rissoto de Portofino: AMAZING!!! It was a truffle mushroom rissoto topped with lobster. The rissotto was so creamy and rich, and you could really taste the flavor of the truffles. The mushrooms added a nice texture, and the lobster meat was just the icing on the cake. I honestly would have been happy to eat the rissoto without the lobster too (they could make a solid vegetarian version by just removing the lobster and adjusting the price lol). Overall, my friend and I had a really good experience and we both agreed that we would come back! Give this place a chance, you won't regret it. read more

Quaint Italian eatery. We booked Sunday brunch at opening (11 am). There was plenty of parking out front (no valet offered), and there's also parking in the back of the restaurant. Good service, great ambiance. The tables filled up while we were there, but it didn't feel loud or crowded. All brunch items were delicious! Eggs were overcooked for the avocado toast and crab Benedict dishes. Food came out cold or at room temperature. Mimosas had a bit too much OJ for my taste. Our table also split the tiramisu, and it was non-traditional but still a nice treat to end the meal with! read more

Josiah excelled at waiting on our 4-person party. FIVE STARS!!! The grilled Caesar salad, branzino, salmon, pappardelle bolognese, bombolinos, & cheese cake were all excellent. The atmosphere was pleasant. These four seniors could hear each other talk! Great evening. read more

Always accommodating with quite excellent food, attentive service and a pretty setting.

Went to Lulu's for a solo brunch. I had been meaning to try this restaurant for a while so I decided to treat myself to brunch. It did not disappoint! Jonathan, my waiter, was very attentive. The food was delicious. The only thing I wish I had known is that they add tomato sauce to their breakfast potatoes. Not my fav. It wasn't a deal breaker. But sadly tomato sauce doesn't agree with me. I ordered the steak and eggs and it was so flavorful. I'd definitely return to Lulu's to explore their menu. read more

Great service, everyone was nice and helpful. Dallas did a great job in making our meal special. The rack of lamb was outstanding, 2 double chops that cooked perfectly and the wine paired nicely. Went early, but did get a little noisier by the time we left but not enough to bother us. Great meal, will definitely be back. read more

Very cute, intimate experience. Great cocktail selection. The lobster risotto was divine and I finished the entire plate. It's definitely pricey for the serving size though; you likely won't be taking home leftovers. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert and I found theirs to be just average. I'd come back though! read more

I came in on a Friday evening to dine alone. Manny was my server and his service was impeccable. He was extremely attentive, and so polite. For the main course I had the short braised ribs. They were melt in your mouth-tender!! The tenderness of the short braised ribs made me want to savor every single bite for as long as I could! It would be very difficult to come back to this restaurant and consider ordering anything else bc the dish was that exquisite! What a lovely first time experience! read more

I had read the bad reviews on Yelp and was hoping to be able to give them a good review... We dined at Lulus on Saturday night as a group of 4. I had made the reservation weeks in advance and had been looking forward to trying our new neighborhood restaurant. Things started out well with cocktail/wine arriving quickly. One member of our party was on a special diet so she ordered separately but the rest of us ordered 5 dishes to share. I asked that our dishes come out as ready since we had ordered several. My friends salad came out pretty quickly but none of our dishes came out until almost an hour after our reservation. All 5 of our dishes arrived at the same time. I have to think that they misunderstood me and instead heard to bring everything at once. The pepperoni pizza we ordered appeared to be a frozen pizza. It was a perfectly round cardboard type crust as you get in the freezer section of the grocery store. I honestly feel confused why they would bother putting pizza on the menu. Our friends did end up taking the pizza home and said their kids loved it for lunch. I say this only because I am not above frozen grocery pizza, in fact I love it, I just don't typically pay $18 for it. Both of our pastas were cold when they arrived. The beef was cooked well. I really wanted to love this restaurant but I can't imagine going back. I would like to also say that I completed a five day fast on Friday and even given that I hadn't eaten food all week this was still mostly inedible. Very disappointing, especially at this price point. read more

Check #35 Guest:2 Ordered, 9-29-21 at 17:53 Hours (5:53 PM) Table: 23 EXTREMELY disappointing.  Too many "NO's" to the customer.  No mint cucumber martinis, no watermelon martinis, no cosmopolitan martinis, no sweet & low (for tea), no salmon, no oysters, no sea bass, etc. The chicken Marsala , skin still on the chicken, it was hard. The perfect martini was NOT perfect. Butter was frozen.  Grilled branzino was insipid. The Polpetite was not to taste.  Should I continue?  Again, very disappointing.   Ruben came to our table, in spite table #35, was not his assigned section, providing great friendly customer service with a smile.  Exiting the restaurant was also very difficult. The service was a "5 star"rating.  Teresa as friendly, professional, attentive, and was proactive to my requests. Excellent ratings for Ms. De Jesús A, and Ruben. We will not be returning any time soon. read more

My wife and I tried this place after looking for a new Italian restaurant to have when we wanted to celebrate and wow, Lulu's certainly delivered! The atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable, but very nice. I wouldn't wear a tee shirt here. The service was great. Our waiter walked us through the menu, his recommendations, and was attentive but not overbearing. He also was very thorough when checking for food allergens We got the calamari to start, which was a perfect portion for two. It was in a sort of sweet & sour sauce that wasn't too heavy but complimented the dish well. The fried banana peppers are so good in this dish. I got the Bolognese and my wife got the lobster ravioli. Both were excellent, but the ravioli was the real star. They make their own pasta which adds to the dishes being very good. The bolognese was good, not great. The sauce was not what I was expecting, but still good. We both had a recommended wine pairing as well. Overall, this was an excellent experience and we will sure be back! read more

We had a good Italian takeout dinner form Lulu's. I thought the papardele bolognese pasta was probably my favorite part of the meal--the pasta was well-cooked, and the sauce was tasty. The margherita pizza was just OK--while the sauce was nice and sweet, the crust and toppings weren't anything special. Overall, I thought the meal was rather expensive for what it was, but it was OK. read more

Try it for 1st time! The food was just season properly. Love the steak, chicken and pasta dishes. The lady cello drink was just perfect. The space is great for date night, family gathering or just brunch. The service was excellent too. The waiter came again again to make sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back again. read more

One of the best restaurants in Houston. Food was scrumptious, service by Josiah was exemplary, ambiance definitely upscale and very comfortable- except I'm short and my seat at the table seemed like a high chair to me. It didn't take away from the experience though. read more

I called to see if this restaurant took reservations and it was suggested that I just come right on in, since it was just two of us. I was greeted immediately by Richard as I had stated on my call, I loved sitting at the bar and as soon as I arrived, he saw me head in that direction. Chris prepared a Spicy Roots cocktail which was delightful and my guest had an expresso martini. I had the gazpacho which my dining partner was happy to finish due to the fact that I wanted to save room for my entree. My DP had the HRW brunch menu and chose the chicken and waffles. I ordered the crab benedict (not on HRW) and it was delightful. DP's second course was raspberry sorbet, the presentation was amazing. I truly look forward to returning in the near future. I'm always happy to praise great service, ambiance and an overall beautiful experience and needless say when you go, you will not be disappointed! read more

I will start off with the bad.. I was very disappointed in the serving size the lobster sachetti for $75. It is not worth it for the amount of food your receive. This really changed the mood of our outing for Mother's Day due to one of us not getting enough to eat. On to the good. Service and atmosphere was perfect. The braised short rib was so tender on top of the potatoes and carrots. The Rissotto special with shrimp was also amazing. Bread service is a must and very tasty. Went to Lulu's for dinner with my friend and sat at the bar, we both have mixed feelings of restaurant. We enjoyed a business lunch to complete a transaction and were met, greeted and immediately seated by smiling staff. The luncheon menu provided delicious options and we each paired a wonderful salad and Main of our choosing. I started with the bright and tasty Pear and Arrugula salad. My Main was a delicious Carbonara. The sauce was so smooth added to by the egg yoke topper increasing the silkiness with beautiful smokey pieces of pancetta woven through the pasta. We shared the Tiramisu and Bombolini to close our meal. Easy to enjoy. I highly recommend Lulu's read more

Excellent food. I had the risotto di portofino and it was fantastic, as was dessert. Atmosphere was also very nice: upscale but casual, with a smaller-than-expected dining room. Service was just ok; despite not being full on an early Saturday evening, our server wasn't particularly attentive, eventually forgetting our appetizer. The reservation system was also odd; I could only get an early reservation, yet there were tables throughout the hour-plus we were there. read more

We've eaten at LuLu's several time and I'm afraid to say the food quality has declined. It's in a great location and has a "neighborhood" restaurant feel. It has a very nice atmosphere, great presentation of the food, good service and everyone is pleasant. However, the food leaves something to be desired. My wife and I had dinner with another couple last night. Three of us had pasta dishes - Carbonara, Bolognese, and Pomodorini. None of these three were very good. Overall, I would say they were just bland. Very little flavor or interesting taste. I had the Bolognese and found myself covering it with salt and pepper. Also, I have finally decided that I don't care for the Burrata salad. At first, I liked the idea of the beets, but now it feels they are just overpowering. Maybe mixing in some nice, ripe heirloom tomatoes would help, but the way it is now just isn't working for me. Unfortunately, we will probably not be coming back to LuLu's any time soon. Will have to find another intimate Italian restaurant! read more

First time in the restaurant and was not satisfied. The service was slow, food is overpriced and underwhelming. Won't be back.

Great evening at this cute intimate Italian restaurant on Kirby. We enjoyed that the tables were far enough apart and we could hear each other. The food was delicious. There were 4 of us ordering the branzino ,salmon, beef pasta dish ,grilled Caesar's salad. a unique strawberry cheesecake and bambolinas. There are not many Italian restaurants that have these delicious bites of heaven .Josiah was our excellent server for the evening. He was charming and did an excellent job. We had a wonderful evening. lots of parking too. read more

Great staff, plenty of parking, good food, good prices. The vibe is chill. We come once a week.

Very average Italian restaurant. It is obviously that the foods are not prepared with the authentic Italian cooking way. The desserts are disaster! The tiramisu is basically piled up with cookies and cream! Not only it cost $14 but it's much worse than the ones I can get from the Le Madeline! Very disappointing! read more

Had dinner here with the family the other night. Our first visit. We were really pleased with the food and the service. Meatballs, short rib, carbonara, pizza, etc. all good. And our waitress was great. My only complaint, and my reason for the four stars, is the wine list. There are not many affordable choices. If you like cab, you can pick between the low end Silver Palm that is priced 4X what you pay at Kroger or the Jordan Cab at $165/bottle. Not much in between and they ran out of the Silver Palm after two bottles. So it was either switch to Pinot Noir or pay a ransom for the Jordan Cab. For this to become more than a "special occasion" place for us they need to add some reasonable wines to the list in the $12-14/glass range. The food is good but not so much that I'm willing to pay a lot more for a glass of decent wine than what I can get at several comparable places close by. read more

We love Lulu's! We have never had a bad meal, the service is amazing! Food , staff, ambience is excellent.

My daughter and I were looking for a place to eat, after church. Walked by this place and there were only two people inside, so we decided to give it a try. First, let me say, the place is very nice, clean and quaint. After looking at the menu, we had second thoughts about leaving, because everything on the menu was overpriced, but we stayed. We ordered from the brunch menu. My daughter ordered the lobster roll and said it was tasty. I ordered the waffle and bacon. When it arrived at our table, I could tell that the waffle was cold and the bacon was not freshly cooked, in fact, both items were cold. Who enjoys eating cold waffles and previously cooked bacon. The waiters give the impression of professionalism, but don't be fooled. We will never eat here again! read more

I rarely ever write reviews but Lulu's was so impressively over priced and underwhelming I feel compelled to write this incredibly negative review. At 1st glance the restaurant is physically beautiful although the menu is limited. The service was also good right up until we were served drinks, salads, the entre and then presented with the bill. We were overcharged on 4 separate items on the bill. When I asked the waiter he said "sorry... that's the way it is!" The charged $4 extra for "an extra shaken martini... we asked for it shaken very hard so that ice chips were at the top" so they charged $4 to shake the martini. My wife ordered grilled Branzino. She swapped out the standard side items for grilled carrots. This was a swap out and they charged us $6 more for this. I asked for a healthy salad without fattening dressing. I asked the for plain balsamic vinegar and to make sure there were plenty of tomatoes on the salad... again a $6 extra charge. My entre was the most expensive item on the menu, Black Angus Tenderloin. We are trying to eat healthy and I asked what could I swap for the Polenta that came with the steak. The answer was grilled carrots. Again my 5 pieces of carrot were $6 extra. We were charged an additional $24 literally for nothing. Again when we asked the waiter he was matter of fact and said "that's the way it is... sorry". Dinner for 4 was a whopping $337.77 plus tip. This was the 1st time we dined here but I have now been there twice... FIRST and LAST! Don't waste your time, your money or your evening... they do not appreciate anything other than your credit card. Thanks. Larry S read more
