Ok so Lula brunch goes just as hard as the dinner! I've tried the breakfast burrito, matcha bostock, coconut financier, the tineka, the baked French feta, and the carrot cake. The breakfast burrito is 100% worth the hype. Such buttery fluffy soft eggs w a ton of cheese & the most flavorful sauces (my personal fave was the red sauce)! This thing is massive - I had half and saved the other half for later. The pastries were 10/10 no notes. Very fresh, perfect textures, not overly sweet. The tineka was a flavor bomb! The bread was phenomenal. There's some type of sweet n slightly spicy chutney(?) that really gave it a pop of flavor. The slaw that comes w it was amazing as well. The carrot cake was so moist, perfectly spiced, and the right amount of sweet. Critique: while the baked French feta was good, I think this is the most overpriced dish for what is essentially a small block of feta with some sourdough and a couple pieces of olives and cucumbers. Also, the sourdough was kinda too hard and crunchy for my liking. This is the only dish I don't recommend.

This place was as spectacular as we'd been told it was! We came here for brunch and were blown away. We both ordered seasonal specials, the Steak and Eggs and Brown Rice and Squash. They were both packed full of flavor and just delicious. We had the delicious Litchi Noir Kouign Amann pastry and two cappuccinos as well. The service was excellent, the servers were friendly, and the food was stellar. I will absolutely come here again the next time I'm in town.

Lula Cafe delivered on unique flavor, great service and a casual, yet upscale vibe. To start I got the onion focaccia bread. It was warm, salty, buttery and the onions were fantastic. The caramelization of the onions was tangy, sweet and savory. I got the famous pasta yiayia for my main dish and wow!!!! The bucatini noodles held the dynamics of the dish together so well. The feta cheese was creamy and had notes of sweetness and savoriness. The garlic cloves added good texture and earthiness. The brown butter and feta complimented one another so well, the cinnamon was a surprisingly pleasant addition, too. The dish was perfect.

I was nervous to eat here without a labeled menu that indicator what was gluten free but they labeled it for me when I went to order! There were plenty of gluten friendly options for brunch. I also don't eat red meat and had no issues finding something on the menu. The food was so flavorful and I'm still thinking about how perfectly cooked the tofu was. Excellent service despite it being very busy and they were on top of refills and food. We walked around Logan square while we waited for our food.

To be around for nearly 30 years and still have this much hype is saying something. I stayed in an Airbnb a few blocks away from Lula for like a month last year, and every time I wandered by, there was a wait. Fast forward to last week, and I finally made it in. Cheers for me, guys. And now that I've been, I just want to come back. That food is good. So, so very good.... Vegan options galore, and not just some bullshit afterthoughts. The sweet potato soup with garlic was a great starter, especially with that perfectly thick bread. The "Tineka," a spicy peanut butter sandwich with all kinds of fresh veg, was another hit. Fresh, salty, beautifully toasted. Even the side of slaw was elevated beyond the norm. But the one I'll be dreaming of is the Chickpea & Fennel Tagine. Green harissa, golden raisins, preserved lemon, arugula, and more of that amazing grilled bread. My god. Tagine is a slow-cooked African dish that jams pounds of flavor into each bite, and this bowl was through the roof. The apertif menu? Bonus points for that one. It's cute, it's trendy, the staff knows their menu inside and out, and they have been bringing the culinary heat for nearly three decades. Keep doing your thing, Lula.

We had a reservation on a Saturday night, and it was my first time at Lula Cafe! I absolutely loved the casual and beautiful space as well as the lovely outdoor patio. The ambiance was perfect with background salsa and cha cha playing for a perfect upbeat mood. We ordered some focaccia, clams, and the Vichyssoise for smaller items and had the pasta yia yia, ramps & wild rice, and the chickpea and fennel tagine. Everything was spectacular, and the favorite dishes of the group were the clams, the super unique pasta yia yia, and ramps & wild rice. Each dish had such unique flavors and complemented each other very well. For dessert, we all got a scoop of the London fog straciatella, which may now be my favorite ice cream flavor of all time. The service was on point as well and very attentive! Definitely make Lula Cafe a destination when in the area.

Food is always great here, they don't do reservations so get there at least 30 minutes early to get on the waitlist. If you're going there on Sundays, you can always go to the farmers market before if they're open before! The only negative thing is not all of the waiters are very helpful. There was one waiter that I asked for hot sauce and it took so long that we ended up getting the check right after she brought the sauce.

Lula Cafe is an example of a place where the quality of the food carries the experience - yes, our waiter and the hostess were kind, but we left just repeating "that was so good, wow, that was so good" - the chickpea fritters were dazzling. the outer shell was a perfectly zatar seasoned crisp that you could not tell was made of chickpea at all. it wrapped around a somehow still mushy/grainy chickpea mash, providing perfect textures in each bite. the fritters were dipped in a mustard sauce that had the exact texture of whipped cream. as you ran the fritter through the dip, little air bubbles popped up. the dip was smooth & creamy with only an aftertaste twang of mustard - the sea bream somehow balanced a burnt snappy outer layer of fish with a flakey light inside. the sauce was rich and drenched into the folds of the supple fish. the patty pan squash provided a fresh spurt amidst bites of creamy buttery goodness. I thought this was to die for - the pasta Yai Yai is a speciality here, and the ingredient list (brown butter, feta, and cinnamon) was intriguing. the pasta was perfectly al dente, long and thick pieces of bucatini. my dining companion loved this dish and was shocked how well the ingredients went together. I thought it was tasty but I could not get a real blend of the flavors, more just tasted "ok cinnamon" and "ok feta" separately, not much of a blend. - the Bavette steak could have been cut with a spoon. the most tender cut of beef in a sweet and sour balsamic sauce. the vegetables, cauliflower and broccoli, were cooked in different seasoning than the steak, providing for more complexity. the slivers of grapes brought out the sweetness of the balsamic.

the breakfast burrito is a must - this truly may be one of the best breakfast burritos I have ever had in my life. The scrambled eggs were soft fluffy and sweet, the avacado was perfectly ripe, potatos were seasoned so well - and despite having no meat it was very filling. I also loved that the hot sauce had a sweet tang to it, and the green sauce was a classic. This is a very popular spot so be prepared to wait (we waited about 1.5 hours on early saturday morning). Ambiance is vibrant, staff is nice but certainly busy!!

We've talked about going here for the longest time and finally a couple of weeks ago we stood in that long line that forms before every Sunday opening. Once the doors opened the line moved swiftly as parties were greeted and seated by an equally long line of servers. On a nice day, the patio fills up quickly but there are quite a few tables. The inside is actually much more spacious than I expected. We ended up on the patio as the weather was splendid. It was great for people watching all of the farmers market patrons. We started with their baked feta. A truly magical dish with delicious sourdough that acts as the perfect vessel to sop up the oils that coat the pan. We each ordered the pancakes and a side of sausage. We could have easily shared an order as they were super filling. I'm glad we finally made it here. Also their Hugo Spritz were so refreshing.

The royale breakfast sandwich

The service was great, and the food was so good. I got the royale breakfast sandwich which was delicious but doesn't compare to the hot spot breakfast sandwiches in the city. The addition of a caper type sauce, lettuce, and tomato on the bun feels more like a burger than an egg based sandwich, but still great nonetheless. I can imagine that they have a great dinner menu as well. Would love to come back and try.

Most of our meals were of the run-and-gun type, so we figured we should make time for at least one classic brunch. We'd heard good things about Lula Cafe, so we decided to pop over on a Saturday morning. It was just after 9:00 but the place was already hopping. After a short wait, we were shown to bar-type seating near the back of the restaurant. It was perfect. I can never say no to a breakfast burrito, so we decided to share their Classic Lula Breakfast Burrito ("avocado, tomato, potato, cheddar, green chile soffritto, and soft scrambled eggs") and holy moly was it ever good. Every ingredient was above average and placed with care, and I was impressed by the perfectly-cooked eggs. (There was nothing bouncy about these eggs, that's for sure.) Because we're pigs, we decided to also share the Lox Toast ("house cured organic salmon, gribiche, lula seeded rye") and it too was very, very good. Finally, we each got the Fruit Cup and somehow it was also amazing. The fruits were cut really well and there wasn't a bad bite to be had. Yeah, I can see why Lula Cafe is doing so well. It's a really cool place.

Returned for a second visit and was in line before opening. Secured one of the last available tables after they opened their doors. The food is decent here, but I wouldn't say anything blew me away. My coffee order got delayed, and even though it was one of the first things we requested, my drink didn't come out till we were halfway through our entrees.

The Doctor got the Chilaquiles (El Milagro Tortillas, Serrano Tomatillo Salsa, Pickled Red Onion, Sour Cream, Queso Fresco, Cilantro and two scrambled Farm Eggs), which he loved. The Queen and I enjoyed the Dippy Dog Bites (sausage, battered and deep fried- served with maple syrup for dipping), those were quite tasty, sort of reminded me of a mini McGriddle. The BFF got the Wisconsin Pimento Sandwich (breakfast sausage layered with creamy house-made pimento cheese, egg, salad and roasted potatoes) and he cleaned his plate. The Queen got the Steak & Eggs, no photo but she also cleaned her plate (10 oz of coffee-chili rubbed beef tenderloin tips, two eggs cooked the way you like, refried beans, pickled red onion, avocado, cotija and cilantro). But you may be asking, why am I only giving 3 stars for my review? Well because Yelp has not moved to a half star rating. The food at Farm Bar was wonderful and I would love to come back and try the burger and that Brandied Cherry Sundae. The service is what took it down to a 3 star rating. Me, The Doctor, The Queen and my BFF #1 decided to come here for brunch. We were seated at a great table, which for me was the best on in the house as we were not crowded around other tables. There was a table near the windows but there was water dripping from the overhead air conditioning pipes overhead and they ended up moving. Our server was nice, pleasant enough, but just not as attentive as we would have liked. More than once we had to get his attention for additional drinks, although the busser was great at clearly our table. We had another person call him over so The Queen could give him a $20 tip. ai ordered extra eggs with my dish that did not come out, so the server had to go back and get them for that lovely dish. Everyone enjoyed their meal and we all agreed that we could come back here for a meal. And I would definitely revisit this review, but for now, it will stand at 3 stars.

Our main hobby is dining out. We've been to every Michelin-starred restaurant in Chicago, many of…read morethem multiple times, and we regularly travel specifically to eat at great restaurants around the world. We're not casual diners, and we understand that even excellent restaurants can have an off night. Unfortunately, Atelier was a major miss for us. For more context, we dined at the original Atelier in March 2024 and absolutely loved it, so we came in genuinely excited. First, the positives. The service team was wonderful. Truly lovely people. Delightful, attentive, cheerful, professional, and clearly trying very hard to deliver a great experience. No complaints whatsoever there. The reserve wine pairing was also excellent. Some genuinely unique finds. One rosé in particular made us skeptical when first presented, but it ended up being fascinating and paired beautifully with the dish. In fact, each wine pairing was thoughtfully selected and worked extremely well. Now, the food... and unfortunately, this is where the experience fell apart. The opening four amuse-bouches were flat, boring, and uninspired. The oyster was completely overpowered by fried onion. The "jambalaya" was essentially a bowl of mildly spiced rice. Then a salty muffaletta bite and some pickled vegetables. None of these felt Michelin-worthy, nor did they generate any excitement. The next course, beets, was another miss. They were oddly hard, and again, there was nothing particularly special or memorable about the dish. The kanpachi was very good. But let's be honest, raw fish is hard to screw up. The sauce was nicely done and elevated the dish, but it still didn't feel like a standout moment. The tortellini was fine. Perfectly competent. A salty broth, decent execution... but again, no wow factor. Nothing that made you pause. The walleye itself was excellent. Beautifully cooked. But everything accompanying it felt like it was actively sabotaging the fish. The beans were bizarre. . . some soft, some hard, some crunchy, but none particularly enjoyable. We were told there was cornbread and fermented elements in the dish, but those flavors were completely lost. The smoked duck was very good. No notes. Then came a duck wonton-style preparation, which was also tasty, but structurally this made no sense in the progression of the meal. That should be an appetizer or an earlier supporting course, not the crescendo of the protein sequence. In this style of tasting menu, you expect the protein finale to be something bold and memorable. . . A5 wagyu, quail, lamb, something deeply savory that leaves an impression. Ending that arc with what amounts to a fried wonton felt like going out with a whimper instead of a roar. Desserts didn't recover things. The first was a dry cake. The second, a version of king cake, was slightly better but still entirely forgettable. Then the ambiance. We tend to gravitate toward food-first restaurants with real energy... places like EL Ideas, Schwa, and even the original Atelier. Open kitchens, a sense of movement, a little grit, authenticity, personality. Places where you feel like you're somewhere interesting. This space just felt . . .blah. Wood paneling that gave off a tired 1970s feel, overly understated to the point of feeling generic. Now, sometimes that works if the food absolutely delivers and becomes the focal point. But when the food is average, the room starts feeling average too, and the whole experience just falls flatter. The theme of this menu was: The Crescent City/New Orleans. Maybe other menus here are significantly stronger, and maybe we simply came at the wrong time during an off concept. But based on this experience, this was a big disappointment for us, especially given how much we loved the original Atelier.

Great service and great selection of wine. The ambiance is very intimate, in a close dinning area…read morewith open kitchen. Food was presented extremely well. Each dish is a work of art.
