Luke's Inn is my mothers in laws favorite place for American Chinese food. She has been coming here for DECADES so naturally, when she had a craving for some delicious food, we place an order over the phone and went to pick it up. They prepare everything to order and okay with customizations (things like no onion or extra gravy) The to go orders are packed with precision and are easy to travel with. really really gross I got the chicken and vegtable and the chicken was so spongy and fake taste like rubber I'll never go there again.

I'm kind of disappointed me and my boyfriend love this place and go often, this is now the second time I have found a hair in my takeout food which is pretty disappointing. i would call but what are they going to do, We will be going elsewhere from now on unfortunately maybe try again later. read more

We visited Luke's Inn for the first time last night. We were greeted & seated quickly. As far as the food, we loved the crab rangoons and portion sizes were plentiful. On the negative side, the pork fried rice and egg foo young with pork had barely any pork. We had to look really hard to find any pork in the rice. The egg foo young had more but still very minimal in comparison to what I have had atother restaurants. I also had egg shells in my egg foo young which was also unfortunate. I'm not sure that I would return as I prefer more pork in my fried rice & egg foo young. read more

We used to Love Luke's Inn. Before we left for Florida in October,it was the best Chinese food ever! On coming back this May 25, we were sooo disappointed! What a change in the food Quality. Service was supper fast. I ordered a PUPU platter , pork fried rice and moo goo gai pan. Spareribs were excellent, big with lots of meat and they were not dripping in that sweet red sauce. Chicken wings were coated in teriyaki sauce but were not super sweet or greasy. They were nice and crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. The beef teriyaki was cooked really well, juicy with lots of flavor. Again not overly coated with teriyaki sauce. Wontons were super crispy and not greasy. Egg rolls had great girth but not great length. But they were nice and crispy not greasy and I loved their stuffing. The moo goo gai pan was also delicious, all the veggies were still vibrant in color, chicken was tender and the sauce had a great Subtle flavor . The scorpion bowl was a little small but tasted really good not too sweet. Fried shrimp and chicken wings were heavily battered but not greasy. Consistently pitiful. I keep on thinking if I try something different, they can't all be never worth getting again. Wonton soup with mushy wontons and bits of grizzle, scallion pancakes with two or three minuscule scallion shreds. If it had flavor, that would be a plus. Luke's used to be good. But the last year has been the last of Luke's for us. The egg roll tastes of extremely strong fermented cabbage.The food is very, very cheaply made with poor ingredients. Tasteless sauces, overly cooked vegetables, sticky white rice and no flavor fried rice has enticed us to leave for better elsewhere. Not a place to spend your money. Used to be great years ago. Last few years the fried rice is so dry it makes you choke. I told them about it and they thanked me but never fixed it. I know other ppl found that the food has gotten worse. Workers are not ppl friendly anymore. Different ppl at register. Maybe the owners kids who are adults now. Very rude. Sooo, I don't go there anymore. There are plenty other Chinese food restaurants around. And it's not a specific craving for me so I don't care if they fix the rice or not. And portions suck too. unfortunately, one of our favorite restaurants in . So we have interferent having to go to Luke's Inn. I refrain from making any kind of comment on yelp because I didn't think it was fair to review them on only a couple of tries. However, we ordered from Luke's In this afternoon. Their food was absolutely horrendous. We called the facility, and asked to speak to a manager. However, the manager would not come to the phone. And we were asked to relay a message. We relayed a message while we were on hold. On the came back and said more than welcome to bring back the food that you had just picked up however we are make the same food for you over the same way using the same batches so therefore nothing is going to change. Is that really how you deal with a complaint from a customer? I would absolutely stay away from this restaurant. Just because our favorite restaurant in town actually shut down shame on us for going to what we thought was the next best thing. read more

I happen to Google the top spots for Chinese food in Rhode Island and Luke's came out in the top five. Because it was close to our house we headed that way and we were not disappointed . We had lunch in the bar area were plenty of regulars were enjoying golf and cocktail. We ordered their homemade crab ragoons for an app and they were absolutely delicious. I had the fried chicken with brown gravy, and my husband had general taos chicken. Both combo plates came with two scoops of pork fried rice and an egg roll. I have been coming here for years and honestly it has gone down hill the past several visits. We used to LOVE coming here but something has changed! Hubby and I decided to grab takeout and go eat by the water at Colt Park. Figured chinese would be a fun thing to bring. I started with wonton soup (delicious), hubby had hot and sour soup which he loved too. I had the chicken lo mein combination (serves with fried rice and mini egg roll). The lo mein had zero flavor, fried rice was just ok (had to put duck sauce on it to flavor it up) and the egg rolls were good, but really small. Hubby had the Szechuan Chicken combination and he disliked all of it aside from the small egg roll. He too said it was flavorless. Not sure what is going on here, but I hope they realize that they are going down hill and will likely lose a lot of repeat customers due to this. read more

At first, I thought the world of our trip to Luke's. We had garlic chicken and general Tao's chicken. Both were delicious and the egg rolls hit the spot. From the time we sat down to the time we were walking out with full bellies was 30 min. That's impressive!!! Great service - very accommodating! At that point, I would have given them 4 stars. However, now a 12 hours later.... I spent the entire night sick with food poisoning, now I can't even keep pedialyte in me. We will not be returning. We ate at Luke's on a quiet weeknight. We were seated right away and the waitress was very friendly. The cocktail was overly sweet and not well balanced. We ordered an appetizer and three entrees expecting to enjoy the appetizer first and then the entrees. They all arrived at once. The dumplings were slightly less than room temperature when they should have been steaming hot. We sent them back. Only one of our entrees was hot, the lo-mein was also barely warm - certainly not above the 140 degrees for food safety purposes. We ordered the General Tso's "spicy", but when it arrived it was also not hot and certainly not spicy. The beef dish was hot and flavorful. I checked the google reviews and there are so many glowing ones I ordered a bunch of food so we could try different dishes. Everything is flavorless, bad and overcooked. The pork fried rice has almost no pork no onions or anything else and the taste is terrible. The pork lo mein was missing the pork and the noodles were flavorless. 3 1/2 stars. Luke's Inn, the East Bay legend. They have been Voted Best by an RI Monthly readers poll. Established in 1985 they have become a local must visit. Ordered was a General Tso Combination plate, XXX spicy (as their menu offers) A Beef Teriyaki, House Wings Combo, and the Luke's Inn Chicken Combo. Feed back for all 3 is high praise. Luke's only uses white meat, a veteran move. Everything was fresh, the chicken for all three dishes was tender and fried to a nice crisp. The only complaint is that the Luke's Inn Chicken was very very sparse on Sauce. It was like it wasn't really tossed in anything more than a few table spoons. That was a let down. The sauce that was on it was indeed delicious. The General Tso Chicken was full of flavor, and the XXX spicy option, although not burn your mouth spicy (which we like) was still hot enough to be respectable from the perspective of a scolville scale of heat. Clearly prepared with house chill paste, it would be almost perfect if they used dried chili peppers instead. The Beef Teriyaki and Wings with House Oyster Sauce are spot on. The Pork Fried Rice served with all three combos was nice. It had a good balance of veggies, and pork, prepared with a lighter dose of soy. From our admin I'll keep it short and sweet today. Luke's inn was quite the pleasant surprise today, as I wasn't planning on today being graced with Chinese Food for lunch. When I saw the XXX General on the menu, I had to see what this place was made of. I like spicy food to be as spicy as you can give me, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not many restaurants that do a good General also do a heavily spicy General, but Luke's has it. Not the best general but very good marks, an 8/10, while also being significantly spicy. Nothing off the charts, as it was mostly from sriracha. Solid rice and egg roll rounded out a combination plate that made me very happy. They have an awesome waiter/ bartender named DJ that is actually the owner's son, and he remembers EVERYONE'S usual! It's pretty impressive!
