Sushi is very good and best sushi prices in the area, 1/2 off most rolls. Definitely recommended

Wow! So we almost left because parking in this area is atrocious! I'm so glad we didn't leave…read morebecause it is by far the best sushi I've had in all over Rhode Island!! From the miso soup, Korean dumplings to the Philadelphia sushi roll I had! Very friendly service along with the delicious food! Such beautiful decorations inside that make you smile when you walk in! My husband had the caterpillar remix and dragon with a side of sweet eel sauce and he was in heaven! My son had a Philadelphia roll and the à la carte nagari with salmon and he was so happy and he said it's the best sushi he's ever had! My husband lived in Japan for 6 months and he was very impressed by the quality and taste of the food we had today! We got to meet the chef and he was amazing and humble and sweet! You need to stop here and try it for yourself!

We found this sushi spot on our way back from my son's soccer game after seeing the high ratings…read moreand multiple posts advertising it as a top Yelp location. With a 4.6 rating, we were genuinely excited to try it. Walking in, first impressions were great. The inside of the restaurant was super cute, the artwork was beautifully done, and the initial greeting was welcoming. Unfortunately, things started going downhill pretty quickly after that. We had a few questions about the menu, but the hostess seemed confused and didn't really understand what we were asking, so we ultimately just gave up and ordered what sounded good. Food-wise, it was very mixed. The sushi roll was phenomenal...genuinely the best part of the experience, and my son absolutely loved his. The shrimp udon was okay, but the portion was noticeably smaller than what most sushi places serve. The salmon poke bowl was very basic and honestly underwhelming. I also asked for spicy mayo, which was never brought out. The biggest disappointment was the service. Paying $4 for a canned soda with no refills already felt excessive, but when my son accidentally spilled it, we cleaned it up immediately ourselves. No one offered extra napkins, replaced the plate, or even asked if we wanted another drink. It just felt inattentive from start to finish. To make matters worse, one staff member was sitting at the bar listening to something loudly on a laptop, which completely took away from the atmosphere and felt unprofessional. As someone who used to waitress, I understand the service industry and I'm usually a generous tipper. But I also believe tips reflect service, and unfortunately this experience missed the mark. After picking up our receipt, the hostess was visibly unhappy with the tip amount and had no issue making that clear which only reinforced the poor experience. I very rarely leave one-star reviews, but for a place with a 4.6 star reputation and "top-rated" marketing, this was incredibly disappointing. Cute atmosphere and one great sushi roll aside, the service and overall experience were just not what we expected.

I am a sushi lover and typically when visiting I will get sushi. The sushi has always been pretty standard for me with no real stand-outs. I did visit a few weeks back and was really disappointed. The rolls had the potential of being unique, but the flavor just was not there. I got the Hot Lover roll and the Monster roll. I was just hoping for more with both. I enjoyed the Monster roll more than I enjoyed the Hot Lover. My party also ordered the Ichigo Wontons and Veggie Tempura. Both were also mediocre. I was the only one in my group to order an alcoholic beverage and everyone else ordered fountain drinks. Everyone got their drinks before I did (which I would understand as they were only fountian drinks), but we also got our appetizers before my drink came. It took at least 20 minutes for my drink to get to me. The drink itself was okay - I got a martini. Overall, I probably wont visit again unless I am going for Hibachi.

I've been coming to Haruki East for at least 15 years, which is probably the strongest endorsement…read moreI can give any restaurant. In a state with no shortage of sushi options, this has remained my go-to spot year after year. At this point, I think I've tried either everything on the menu or come pretty close to it. That's what happens when you keep returning to the same place for over a decade. The reason I keep coming back is simple: consistency. The fish is always fresh, the sushi is well prepared, and the food is reliably good. If I order something cooked, it arrives hot and exactly as expected. There are restaurants where you're rolling the dice every visit. Haruki East has never felt like one of them. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and easy to get to. The location is convenient, and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. That's become increasingly rare these days. The only reason I'm stopping at four stars instead of five is the service. While I've never had a genuinely bad experience here, the last few visits have been noticeably slower than I remember. Service has also felt a bit inattentive at times, and these weren't during packed dinner rushes or busy weekend nights. Nothing terrible, just enough that I found myself waiting longer than expected for drinks, check-ins, or the bill. That said, the food continues to be excellent, and that's ultimately why I keep coming back. After 15 years, Haruki East has earned a level of trust that few restaurants achieve. When I'm craving sushi, this is still the place I think of first. The occasional service hiccup hasn't been enough to change that. If you're looking for fresh fish, a broad menu, reasonable prices, and a restaurant with a long track record of getting the important things right, Haruki East remains one of the best choices in Rhode Island.

(It was very cold outside.) To eat we ordered Tom Yum Shrimp soup (more spicy than we expected- and packed to take home), seaweed salad, garlic chili edamame (which we could not finish), tempura appetizer, and Ikura sashimi. It was all quite tasty. It seemed better than in the past. The service was cheerful and the food came out in a timely manner. We had not eaten here for almost a year but will do so more frequently.

It is small on the inside, but there are plenty of tables and there's a sushi station, where you can watch them make the rolls right in front of you. We got seated next to a wall, so it felt semiprivate. My friend did warn me the food takes a while to come out, so I placed my full order all at once. For sushi, my friend and I ordered the Tempura (8 pieces), Yam Roll (8 pieces), and Umeshiso (6 pieces). We also shared the Shrimp Yakisoba. The sushi came out after about 25 minutes and the noodles about 15 minutes after. The sushi pieces were a lot smaller than what I am used to, but I really appreciated that the ratios were still right and I didn't have to break a jaw to get it into my mouth. The shrimp tempura was the one I was most familiar with and it was very tasty. The yam roll was delicious and almost tasted like a French fry. The Umeshiso was unique. It was very salty and limey with a subtle mint flavor and a sweet after taste from the plum paste. The shrimp yakisoba was incredible. It was very flavorful; the noodles were perfectly cooked, there were lots of fresh vegetables, and about 4 big and juicy shrimp. I enjoyed my time here. Although service is slow, the staff was very attentive, and it felt nice to slow things down.

Ran Zan is a small traditional feeling sushi bar, family owned and operated with a single sushi…read morechef. As one of the highest rated sushi bars in Providence I have to say I was very disappointed to say the least. The quality of the fish and rice was that of which you would find at most any sushi restaurant, overly saturated fish lacking in texture. Hard stiff sushi rice laking texture and flavor used for the nigiri (possibly due to the quality of fish on top). This was also a first time for me finding a bone in the sashimi or receiving Kani as part of a house sashimi. They also had Maine Uni available, the portion of Uni was the smallest I have ever received just 3-4 gonads atop very stale rice wrapped in a nori paper which all completely overtook the flavor of the Uni its self. As a whole I would judge Ran Zan as a baseline sushi restaurant by western standards for the quality of its ingredients and the quality put into the preparation and presentation of its dishes. 4.8/10 if you want sushi go to your local spot or look further for the real high quality sushi restaurants/bars Providence HAS to have better to offer.

I usually get a notification once the order is ready for pickup but I like to get there beforehand. We've enjoyed most of the food each time we've visited. I typically always get the Spicy Soy Garlic Wings - crispy yet still juicy and they're not super spicy so makes for a good bite. We enjoy the sushi rolls and poke bowls as well but what we don't care for as much are the fried rice options we've gotten before - they're a bit bland so we stick to apps and sushi options. Nice bright interior if you choose eat in but this seems to be mainly takeout. They have a few tables as well as high top chairs. The service is ALWAYS super friendly and you're always welcomed with a smile. It's a nice dinner takeout spot in the area.

I ordered on a Tuesday and not sure if that's why a fee things were 30% off or if it was because was late in the day (7:30pm) but since got a discount i ordered a fee more items. My husband picked the order up so i cant speak on service. I do know parking is an issue since it doesn't seem to have a lot (if they do, its only 2/3 spots behind) We ordered: Pu Pu platter for 1; small pork lo mein, 1 nine chow, 1 spicy salmon roll and 1 godzilla roll. The order was ready in 15 minutes, i live 3 min away so this was great! The pupu platter had a few things only my husband tried but he liked them all; i tried the crab ragoon and loved it (9/10). The nime chow (5/10)wasn't my favorite; it seed to have some type of lettuce in it and not much taste. The clear sauce wasn't great either; i wonder if they have a different type of peanut sauce. The two sushi rolls i liked; the godzilla was still warm from the tempura batter. I only wish it had less batter on some pieces. (7.5/10) Overall i liked most things and def will order again. Hopefully next time i remember to take pics.
