Not terrible, not great. Tried it twice now that my kid goes to school at Akron. The ladies at the front were not very pleasant but our waitresses were friendly. Pizza is ok - reminds me of Pizza Hut pizza but the recipe from 30 years ago. So much cheese and scant sauce, so it's really greasy. I am sure lots like it, but just not for me. Baked lasagna was meh, salad has a ton of cheese if you like that. I'm sure my college kid will be there a lot the next few years - us not so much. read more

I was very happy with my meal at Luigi's. I ordered the salad and pizza. I can't say I've ever had a salad with that much cheese on it before.... But I ain't complaining . Pizza was very hot, crust was crispy and sauce was tasty. Our waitress was quite nice and recognized someone from our table by name. Let me start this by explaining that I am a VERY picky eater. Before I go somewhere new to me, I will go online and study the menu, taking in all that is offered and allowing for my tastes, my inability to eat spicy food, and my severe food allergies. Luigi's came highly recommended by locals and people I know who swear by it. I even read reviews, both good and bad, so when I arrived, I knew I had to have their garlic cheese bread. It was definitely worth the hype. My dinner companion (local from Akron) ordered the mushroom pizza and the cheese salad. I did have a few bites of the salad, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. Maybe when I return to Akron and Luigi's, I will try it again. Unfortunately, in spite of all the pre-planning I did, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. WHY? The soup, or rather, the lack of soup. Apparently, soup is available only on weekdays, and exclusively for lunch. It was a HUGE disappointment for a picky eater like me, and I said as much to both the server and the cashier at checkout. So, I asked for more time, and settled on the baked cheese ravioli in meat sauce with cheese. It was delicious, and I was a little happy, but I still held on to my disappointment about the lack of soup. That is my ONLY reason for the 4 star review. Note to owner/management: I do plan on returning to Akron again in the near future, and I sincerely hope they have a change of heart and add soup to the dinner menu. read more

Stopped by on a Tuesday evening at 8:30 PM and there was still a line to get in. Which to me means this place is going to be good! Such a cute and cozy spot. We ordered a small pepperoni pizza and a side salad to go. We sipped on house wine while we waited. I am a cheese person and the amount of cheese on this pizza and salad made me so happy. And house salad dressing! Simple but great. Our waitress was sweet. It was so busy even at 9pm, I couldn't believe it. There is a lot and street parking available. Not sure is a good way to put it. When a restaurant has a 'help wanted' sign but there seems to be a full staff, I am concerned. Kudos to all the immigrants that built this land and were chosen to stay in these obscure places in the 40s and share their culture through food. Bootegging was a tiresome business and I am sure this pizza place helped move the weight between Ohio and Chicago and Michigan. Yet here we are now with still pretty decent prices for a 4 piece small personal size but waiting 45 minutes for two cheese smalls and a prepared salad is NOT THE MOVE. And gift card or free desert or comp'd item would have helped. So yes they need help. Yes it is a small town and this place jumps on the weekend. And I have been to Italy so the dough is legit but the pizza is meh- no flavor for real. This place is somewhat loud and aways busy, there is usually a long line out front. The food we had was just ok. Nothing great for me to stand in a line for. We had the lasagna and a salad, The pasta and sauce seemed greasy and the lettuce seemed welted. Over all it was just ok. Yes they have been around for a long time and to some it's a tradition and make a point to go but it did not make me want to go back anytime soon. Maybe the pizza is better. read more

Stopped by here for lunch after shopping at the north side district ! It was comfortable seating - the booths had one I glass and the tables were sufficiently separated. Our waitress was very prompt. We ordered lunch casseroles and a small pizza. We were surprised the meatball and sausage was just that. No noodles. We should've ordered the sandwich. But it worked out ok. There was bread to accompany. The only recommendations are with the side salads. Over dressed. The salad with cheese was very generous to the point of too much cheese. (I know some would love all the cheese- but it was so much that the person couldn't eat the whole side salad because it had too much cheese.). The side salad with no cheese was just drowning. Would definitely return as the sauce was good. Just would ask for dressing on the side and clarify if meat casserole was just meat or had noodles. read more

If you plan to work for this man Tony Corelli plan to keep your mouth shut... this women here is dawn and she is the day time manger but also lover and best friend supposedly to the owner Tony... on 4-7-2025 an employee saw a bag of meth on the floor and gave the meth to the manager dawn... the whole staff proceeded to laugh about the substance found and went into the cooler waving the meth bag around at the camera joking... after this a whole day had passed... a man named Mike came to work the very next day and an employee named Jeff brought to mikes attention that meth had been found in the kitchen (obviously this is a big safety concern not only for the employees but also the many customer who come in daily) so Mike proceeded to ask dawn about the happenings of the meth but had to wait for the following day 4-9-2025...when brought up to dawn she said she would look into the cameras and see exactly what happened..dawn and Mike also agreed that the day shift employees would all be drug tested as well the plan was to get rid of whoever allowed these drugs to come in... well the next day while dawn was texting Mike she said she couldn't see anything on camera and that she had only drug tested one single employee instead of all of the employees working that day... Mike stated to dawn that he himself would look at the cameras...dawn answered in a text with "you just won't let this go" and at the time Mike knew something wasn't good here.. Mike went in that day and with the help Of another manger Morgan they discussed going into the office and finding out what happened was the best option so they did just that until dawn called Morgan and told her to not to let Mike back into the office and that Morgan wasn't to look at any footage from 4-7-2025 on the surveillance cameras... when Mike brought this all up to Tony (the owner) he said that he and Jen (hr) would take care of this issue... well the very next week when Mike came into work he asked again to Tony what's going on with the meth brought in here and Tony down played drugs in his kitchen by saying at least they are making money from selling drugs and maybe it was just cocaine he also refused to speak on the topic and told Mike to take off work for 2 weeks... which in turn ended up just letting Mike go for whistleblowing illegal drugs found in a work place... moral of what happened here and what has been discovered is that working for someone like this means if you stand up for others safety you could be at risk for your job even if you are doing the right thing... Mike could have chosen to shut up about it but because that wasn't what was best for the customers or employees... this shows just a bit of the atmosphere and retaliation you'll be met with if you don't align with their agenda... this is all my opinion on the matter and what I witnessed read more

This restaurant was a COMPLETE miss. Im new to the area and saw all the good reviews for this place so I decided to order carry out. First of all, 2 'large' pizzas and an order of 2 meatballs was $50.50. Whatever, I paid the money thinking this is some amazing Akron legend that I HAVE to try. This food was mid af. Especially for the price?! The larges are any other traditional pizza places small. The cheese has so much cheese I had to hack it down a little bit and the meatball or sausage, whatever it is on my meat lovers was DRY and BLAND. I can't taste a lick of flavor. The meatballs are just put into a tomato sauce that's bitter and again BLAND. The meatballs are like a dog food pate. I had heard the advertisements and was excited to try it. We walked in around lunch and 2 employees were standing at the register. One pointed to a waitress at the end of tge counter and said follow her. We were seated in a booth with a torn cushion. I ordered the lunch portion of lasagna and my wife ordered a steak sandwich. The lasagna came in a tiny dish about 1 inch high and tasted like it came out of a box. Not bad, but not something I was expecting. The steak sandwich was 1 piece of something that resembled shoe leather.The bun was cold and stale. She touched the bun and it broke indicating it was stale and previously frozen. No mushroom, onions or the meat cut into pieces. She sent it back. We told the cashier and she said we'll We are known for pasta and pizza, not steak. My wife said then you should take that off the menu. The cashier said we'll I guess that was your problem. I have never been this disappointed in a restaurant as I was with Luigis. read more

Upon entering the restaurant 3 employees were behind the bar no one greeted us or even looked up we waited for a few minutes and I finally said do we have to wait to be seated - she said go to the end of the bar someone will seat you. Waitress was not very friendly, there is no child's menu, they only take cash and the waitress served food over a 2 week old baby we had with us. Pizza was really good. Salad had hardly any dressing. My boyfriend and I have been to Luigi's twice--once dining in and once for takeout--and both experiences have been delightful! We enjoyed the pizza each time, along with ravioli, breadsticks, and onion rings. Everything was fantastic, but the pizza is definitely our favorite. The simple bread and butter at the start is a lovely touch, and the prices are great. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and I adore the fish tank; it adds a nice touch to the dining experience. Plus, everyone there is really friendly. We can't wait to go back! The food was great! Lots of delicious cheese on a pizza. Everything was very fresh. I loved the sausage in the pizza I've never tasted a pizza like that before. It felt like what it looks like to eat a cartoon pizza with gooey cheese. I wish I had added meat to the lasagna after having a few of the sausages on the pizza. The decor of the little restaurant was nice with murals around and funny plaques at the booth I sat at with the pizza box man. The service was good. we stayed at the Marriott across the street and headed to Luigi's out of convenience. What a mistake! Not only was the food tasteless, they only take cash. We did not find this out until it was time to pay. No sign on the door, no mention of it on the menu, Nothing. We were told we could use their ATM, so my husband went back to our hotel room to get our debit card. We then went to the "ATM", which was really just a Point of Sale device. There you run your card and it gives you a receipt that you take to the cash register to get your cash. What kind of janky set up is this?! On top of it all, my bank charged a fee to use it and Luigi's charged a $2 fee to use it, so it cost me $5 more just to pay my bill. What kind of establishment does not accept credit card in this cashless age? Seems to me that a place like this must be cooking its books better than it's cooking its food. read more

Nothing special here. We were going to the Speakeasy pub when we saw a line of folks heading out the door to this spot and halfway down the side of the building. Its a cool 40 degrees with wind so we figure this has got to be something special. Called to order to go. Got hung up on the first time. Got through the second time. Pizza comes on small and large. Got a large pepperoni n sausage. Got snarled at by the folks waiting outside when we passed by them to the counter. Why they don't have a pick up window or something is beyond me. Pizza was warm not hot. Heated up at the hotel. It was average pie. I couldn't believe it. Everyone ranted n raved about having to go to Luigi's. Nothing special. Just recently moved back to hometown of Akron and live dangerously close to this old + forever favorite. First, the ambiance triggers so many good memories. I love the old school feel. The band box over the door kills me! Second, my favorite pizza. A little char on the crust, cup pepperoni, fabulous sauce, so much cheese. We are here visiting from out of town, I friend who grew up here highly recommended this place. But the time or flight came in. It was already late at night on a Thursday. Maybe 10 pm approx (they're we're still open with a positive attitude) The service was really good, the staff was friendly, the vibe in this place felt at home. The salads were good and the pizza that we ordered did not disappoint. I think it was an everything pizza. Kind of a thicker crust, very good. One thing to note, is they only take cash. Which is fine, I actually liked that they haven't changed much for years. I would highly recommend this place for sure and I would come back again. We ordered the garlic cheese bread and it was really yummy. Got the side of meatballs (it came with two decent sized meatballs) and they were superb and the sauce was also really good. We got the small antipasto with cheese and it was ok... not really worth the price (one tomato* 4 olives* 3 salami) and we should have just done the tossed.
