Our pizza was so delicious, chicken was moist and packed full of flavor, pesto tasted so fresh. It was my birthday and I'd never had a cannoli so it was the perfect time to try and it was everything I imagined it would be. The best part about our Lugi's experience was meeting Mr Luigi! I got a couple of rice balls that were pretty good and used the extra sauce for the pizza crust. We went in around 1:30 pm and asked if we should seat ourselves or order at the counter. The lady told us to seat ourselves and we waited maybe 15 min and decided to just order at the counter. We ordered 2 mixed greens salads and 1 large luigis special pizza. We waited AN HOUR before even getting our salads. After asking about our order, they said it was coming. We did not get it until close to 3 pm. Very disappointed. While it is an old husband and wife running it, one hour is ridiculous. The restaurant is pretty old looking, but must be authentic since they were speaking Italian. The man came with the salads and a brand new bottle of thousand island. Poor atmosphere. Poor service. Poor food. The dining room is dated, dirty, unkempt and has mismatch furniture, and the area where we sat has a cleaning chemical smell that is off-putting. There was food still on the floor from the previous day, there are unsightly wires all over the wall, and there was a fly buzzing around our table. We entered the restaurant around opening time and it was completely empty. The one waiter on staff did not bring us menus so after almost 10 minutes I retrieved some on my own. A half hour after being seated, waiter finally brought us water and meh garlic bread. Received food almost an hour after being seated, despite the restaurant being empty. What I wanted on the menu would have taken longer to prepare apparently, so glad I didn't order that cause we were all starving. Waiter did not check on us at all during the meal. When the food finally arrived, it wasn't great. My chicken parmigiana was tough and over-cooked and the steamed vegetables were flavorless. My child's fettuccine Alfredo was runny and tasted like overcooked noodles and heavy cream with boiled chicken, nothing more. We asked for an extra plate and at first received a dirty plate, so had to ask for another. At BEST it was cafeteria quality food. My friend and I were in the area. We were craving something carb heavy and cheesy so we found Luigi's! An old man welcomed us and seated us right away since there weren't a lot of people eating in. Ambiance: The interior looks like an Italian family's dining room. Seriously, the vibe we felt was like we were eating at my Italian friend's house. It's not very big, but definitely cozy. Service: After surveying the inside of the restaurant, the old man was back. He introduced himself as Mr. Luigi, the owner. He was super sweet. He recommended us to try the lasagna and his famous rice ball, so that's what we did. He told us that a lot of people rave about those items. He was a great conversationalist and kept my friend and I entertained. The other guys were also nice. Food: The garlic bread came within 10 minutes and they were warm, perfectly toasted and delicious. The rice ball came next. I was skeptical about this foreign object that was rolling in meat sauce, but when we broke it open and tasted it, it was really good! Nice crispness from the bread crumbs and then good flavor from the meat and rice inside. The chicken parmigiana and lasagna were also delicious. I don't have an Italian grandparent to cook for me, but if I did this is probably how it would taste. It tasted homemade and made with TLC. Although I would say it was a bit pricey. After we parked and as we approached the restaurant, we saw other guests leaving with what we presumed to be leftovers. Almost always a good sign! More than they could finish and good enough to take home. When we entered, there were two folks standing at the counter talking to Luigi. As we waited, Luigi made the effort to welcome us and asked if we would like a table. We replied yes, a table for two and he said he would be right with us. Terrific! A young male server told Luigi that he would take care of us and led us to a table next to the back door in the empty dining room. Menus were presented and he asked if we would like something to drink and I said yes, whatever diet soda he had. My partner ordered the same. The server asked Diet Coke and we agreed. He brought us plastic tumblers of ice first and then returned again with two cans of Diet Coke. Some other diners came in and he greeted and seated them. As he took their drink orders. When they asked what diet sodas were available, they were told Diet Coke AND Diet Pepsi. They then asked if they could order food right away. He told them that he just needed to get his order pad. When he returned, he took their order and then took it to the kitchen. Another table arrived and he seated them, gave them menus and took their drink order. After that, he proceeded to clean a long table that had been vacated before we had arrived. Nary a glance at us. We were just sitting there with our menus on the table top, drinking our Diet Coke, waiting to order my Mixed Green Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing, Arancini, and Combination (Meat & Veg) Lasagne. She would have had Minestrone Soup and Linguine in Pesto Sauce. Instead, we left $2 on the table to pay for the one Diet Coke that we had opened and partially consumed and left through the back door that we had been seated next to. Yes, I could have walked up to the counter and spoken to Luigi. Yes, I could have tried to call the server over and ask him to take our order. Yes, there were a variety of things I could have done to get things moving along. But the bottom line was that the server failed to take care of us when we were the only customers in the restaurant and we didn't hold out much hope that things would improve. We didn't "sneak out" the back door. We stood up and slowly walked to our van. If he noticed our departure, he should have come out and said something. I've read through a few of these reviews and I can't believe people think a fresh, handmade pizza takes less than half an hour and ding them for it. Or that the little plastic cups for the ranch, or not having fancy wines should detract from this location. If you need to eat this instant, get fast food and don't go and order something that anyone with common sense knows takes a bit of time, then take away stars because you didn't consider this in choosing where you ate. We were looking for a place to eat and several people suggested pizza. All we saw was a round table. They charge way too much for pizza that isn't all that good and we had a big group to feed. So we searched for local places and found Luigi's. They were nearby and had the best ratings. It's situated in a quaint little shopping center. From outside you could tell it was small and hear happy voices. As soon as you walk in you can tell this is a good place to relax. They served my beer in a jar! LOL Luigi, bigger than life, full of character and kindness, made the rounds from table to table chatting with everyone. He's such an adorable man. He even knew the small towns we were from and made mention of opening a place there one day. I hope he does. He'd make a killing. They had the best pizza I've ever had. The crust wasn't even greasy. Everyone was so happy being there after a long day. Next time I'm there I'll try the pasta. And the table next to us? Filled with Italians. We're trying to eat at all of the local Pacifica restaurants and Luigi's is one of the last ones we have yet to try...until last night. We went early on a Sunday (around 5pm) and it was empty. Luigi was the only one serving tables. Service was a little slow, but we didn't mind. We ordered: The Rice Ball, Minestrone soup, two beers (Peroni and Moretti), Ravioli with meatballs, and Chicken Parm. Everything was FANTASTIC! It's not gourmet fare, but it's definitely not the standard pizza/pasta joint. The food was fresh and very "homey" feeling. Luigi also brings out some warm, crusty, farmhouse-style, garlic buttered bread to the table - it was perfect to sop up all of the yummy sauce and soup we had ordered. the Ravioli was homemade - with a spinach/ricotta mixture (very good). The Chicken Parm was completely devoured (the sides are Rigatoni with meat sauce and a few slices of carrot and zucchini - I can say the veggies were perfectly cooked and fresh fresh fresh!) The minestrone was awesome - perhaps the heartiest minestrone I've ever had. The Rice Ball was perfect as an appetizer. Rice, surrounding peas and ground meat, coated with panko (we're guessing) and deep fried for a nice golden crust. Served on top of tomato sauce. It was very good! For all of this, it cost $32 - AND Luigi gave us two beers to go! He is a really nice man. We will definitely be going back to try the pizza. What a great local, family owned business! read more

Luigi is really great Sicilian who opened up shop in USA, so you have to understand his style and makeup. I have been coming here for his Pizza and his Rice balls with meat for over 15 years when it was located in So. San Francisco. Thats what he is famous for. I always ask him to make it real authentic Naples (no Nalolese) style, and he always does a great job. While I don't care for his pasta, he is famous for his Pizza... and he wins awards posted on walls for them. Not to heavy on toppings, thin and crispy crust. Just need that coal fired oven and it would be perfect. You can clearly see his 20 x 50 LB flour stacked, thats how much pizza he makes for the community. Love to give business to small shop keeps like Luigi, especially when he remembers my kids and I starting decades ago... that's called old world style and charm. I'm a relative newcomer to Luigi's. I guess it had to move to this new location a few years ago which is tucked away deep in Pacifica. The building doesn't have much ambiance. It's more like a diner but don't let that fool you. The food is very good. Luigi is a very nice guy and always there. The pizza is good and the rice balls are the bomb! I like the meat sauce. It has good flavor but I feel that the flavor could be made stronger. I usually add a little salt to enhance it. Overall this is a good place. I am a regular now. read more
