This place is responsible for switching me back to Ramen Noodles. Now, I'm a vain New Yorker who likes to spend more money than is neccessary to look good. It's one of my birthrights as part of a generation that had loving parents and no real struggle to contend with. Ludlow Blunt (formerly known as Tommy Guns) definetly helps with that. The haircut costs a pretty penny, but it's so worth it. This place was recommended by a co-worker. I tried it out. I was appointed Chuck as my stylist...Chuck now owns me. He owns my hair's heart and soul. It was the first time I left a stylist feeling so confident that I thought I could hit on a girl way out of my league...I didn't, but I felt like I could and that's all that matters in a good haircut. The staff is incredibly nice (and cute, female staff at least), you're offered coffee or beer while you wait or during your haircut, very relaxing atmosphere. The hairwash is magical, borderline orgasmic. Only thing that sucks for me is that they moved to Williamsburg. But, they're so good that I'll travel all the way to Williamsburg...a land so full of dead eyed, beautiful souls, being crushed into cynical little diamonds by the immeasurble weight of their broken dreams pushing down on their trendy mortal coils...all for Chuck. read more

Best, most chilled out people. Ashley is an amazing colorist and does incredible cuts- she is great with difficult, curly hair. Equally important - very cool and very unpretentious. They are courteous and welcoming to everyone, and do not try to assume some hipper than thou vibe woefully present in most of Williburg and Loisaida read more

I'm a bit upset with my hair. It's not super ugly, but it's not at all what I wanted. First of all, I asked to cut 2-3 inches and it was cut 4-5. I wanted lots of layers, and shaggy. It just looks blah and doesn't have enough layers. The facility was nice, the people were nice, and I enjoyed my experience during the cut. Sometimes it's just hard to tell what to feel until I get to go home and play with it. After a few days, I'm disliking it more and more. That's not cool. I'm just bummed with my hair and haven't been in a long time. read more

Went twice, they seem more focused on coloring. Not worth the trouble or money if you, like me, have very thick hair. They (my stylist, Jedd) ruined the texture of my hair and made it uneven and like a scraggly octopus - thick and heavy on top and scraggly at the ends if you don't blow dry it into submission. (Good way to hide a not so good job!) read more

Excuse me if I am double posting. Never write reviews on Yelp. I am no stranger to top-notch salons; John Sahag (may he RIP),Fekai or Bumble & Bumble... As a veteran of fashion for thirty five years with difficult hair I know whereof I speak. Thank you Russell for one of the top three haircuts I've gotten in my life. Love the place, the personable people who work there and the fact they're open on Sundays! read more

Love this place. Been coming to this location for over 2 years and the LES location before that. Russell is awesome. Design and style of the place is great - old style barber salon feel. All the staff are very attentive. Price is reasonable for the quality you receive! read more

Ludlow Blunt - Hair Salons Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Great haircut, friendly people. Jed was detailed and meticulous and fixed my previously iffy cut (from another place)

This is my top choice of hair salons in NYC - hands down. I've gone repeatedly now and have never requested a specific hair stylist. All of them were very precise and provided a nice experience. There is complimentary beer/wine also while you get a haircut, which is an added bonus. Men's cuts are about $75. read more

Ludlow Blunt is amazing. Not only do they have a great vibe but they have the best colorists and stylists. Laura has been doing my color for the past three years. She is so professional and knows how to give me the exact color that I am looking for. Love this place! read more

I love everything about this place; the place itself which is super edgy, the staff who is very professional and sweet, products they use which are highly qualitative, I use agressive products (keratine, color), but for one year of treatment at Ludlow my hair are healthy and silky. I highly recommend this hype, casual place where you will feel at ease and where your hair will thank you! read more

Shame!! Shame !! On this salon will never go there EVER!! After I drove over 2 hours got in an accident made it to my appointment at 4:30 even very respectful told the owner my terrible ordeal They refuse to cut my son hair because his appointment was giving away to another client!!! Must explain my son is severe handicapped driving 2 hours was already difficult, but back when they were in Ludlow and I lived there was easier I moved to P.A to treat my son for a wonderful experience !!! Shame people SHAME .horrible experience read more

Chuck gives the best cuts! You can tell that he loves what he does and listens to you about what you actually want. Seriously miss his haircuts the most about New York. And Lisa does the best red hair color hues-she replicated the picture I showed her perfectly. Love this salon, it's a Brooklyn gem. read more

Prior client of Ludlow Blunt who had left a few years ago when a previous stylist relocated elsewhere. I returned this past Saturday and I forgot how great this place was. The make is easy to schedule without having an appointment at the last minute, and my randomly appointed stylist Rami was fantastic - I'll definitely be back on regular routine here as people are nice and chill, and the work of Rami was a delightful surprise that I hope may become my regular go to solution on an on-going basis in the future. read more

Jedd is a hair guru and a doll! It was my first time at Ludlow Blunt and I was a little nervous I'd somehow walk out with a handlebar moustache (based on the antique decor of the salon)--but I got the flirty mid-length layered style I was after, thankfully :) And FYI there were all types of people inside getting all types of haircuts and everyone was friendly and not snobby. So, between the ambiance and Jedd being fantastic, I can't wait to go back! read more

Lisa was great. She seemed sweet and was very meticulous and communicative. I had a haircut and it's a bit expensive but worth it here I think. read more

Love this place! It has a great vibe and all staff are attentive and kind. Emma is great at women's hair - cut & color - I highly recommend her. She listens and really gets what is needed. read more

Probably got the best haircut I've ever had from here. Amazing head massage and a cold beer. Will def be back.

One word. RAMI. This man is a genius. I received the best cut and color I've had yet and I've been to top salons all over the world. He came highly recommended to me by a friend of a friend and the only upsetting thing is that I didn't get to him sooner. Best service, best cut, best color, and although I'm in Manhattan and have no other immediate reason to visit Williamsburg, it's well worth my trek. Perfection. What a gem, thanks so much! read more

Best hair cut and color done here by Rami. I left the salon feeling myself and still am. People have stopped me in the street asking about my cut and color. I refer them to Rami, he's the best. Go see him. read more

Best haircut and shave ever!! Brittany is a master and I will always keep coming back (sent my fiancee and both my sons to her). Just let her cut about 8 inches off my hair .... grew in very nicely. Greatest staff. Awesome atmosphere!! read more

I've been getting my cut and color by Rami Freiji for over ten years--both in our hometown of Atlanta AND New York! I take a heavy highlight and Rami really knows what he's doing when it comes to working with blondes. He keeps me looking fresh and always has great ideas for new styles when I'm feeling stumped. His creativity, knowledge, and personality make my time in the chair such a wonderful experience. Thank you, Rami! read more

I have seen Ashley a few times for haircuts and she has really knocked it out of the park every single time. I am always pleasantly surprised how easy the cut is to manage after I just let it air dry and she does a great just with the blowout as well. The staff is always pleasant and lovely. read more

I talked through what I wanted with Jed-- 2-3 inches off of my waist length hair, lightened up on the bottom and around my face, with no chunks or short pieces, and please god, no loop-de-loop layers that will make me look like I just stepped out of the mall. Keep it natural looking like long naturally grown out hair, only with the unhealthy bits removed. And yet, he gave me exactly that, a tasteless, style-less cut with short loopy choppy layers. 6-8 inches gone! I used to have beautiful fairy hair. Now I look like a suburban housewife. It's unbelievably horrible. And not even well done! I am beside myself. It'll take over a year for my hair to grow back, and there's no way I can live with his cut, so I will have to get someone else cut even more, just to get to something stylistically bearable. Total sadness. read more

I used to really like this place and could rely on getting a good haircut there regardless of who was cutting my hair. All of my favorite hairdressers have left and last time I went I had such a bad haircut that I had to immediately go to another place to cut my long hair short. I can't believe I was charged $80 for this garbage haircut. Your experience may vary, but I'm not happy. read more

I have been getting my hair cut by Jedd for years. I actually travel from Long Island to Brooklyn just to see him. He is the only person I trust! He listens to what I want, is knowledgeable and extremely meticulous. I would never get my hair done anywhere else. Get a razor cut from him- you won't regret it!! read more

Avoid....unless you want to spend $100 for a wash & cut that someone has to cleanup afterwards. This was my 1st time here & maybe I got the wrong guy but no excuse for this. First of all a men's cut is $75 +tip. That's absurd. Had I known that going in I would have avoided. The barber was nice enough but was very rough with a comb, catching my ear on a few occasions. Then drying my hair with the blow dryer practically burnt my ear off. No straight razor to clean up, just buzzers. When all was done he told me how he styled the back, but never showed me in a mirror. I immediately met my friend afterwards who pointed out that there were clumps of hair left on my neckline. So essentially he trimmed the line then left all the neck hair. Absolute joke. Never going back. read more

I can't tell you enough how much I love this place. The decor is impeccable - classic barber shop style coupled with the hospitality you'd find at top salons. The staff is professional yet personable, and always beyond courteous. Rami (not sure if I spelled that correctly) has provided me with the best cut I've ever had numerous times, and is always willing to appease my ridiculous desire to know what he's doing and why, at all times. I know I'm probably the worst in the chair, but he really makes the experience purely enjoyable. I've never had a more perfect fade, and he is clearly prioritizing my specific needs in accordance to my skull shape, personal style, and unwavering need to keep up with current trends. Every member of the staff I have encountered have been models of perfection. Everyone who has shampooed me has employed the perfect level of finger pressure. I've been to salons where people have dug their nails into my scalp, but not here. These people are professionals and outwardly display a high level of care in their craft. Especially the woman with the Amber Rose-esque hair style. I can't quite remember her name, maybe Anna or JoAnne. I think she's a newer addition to the staff, but she was extremely nice and caring to me last time I was there. When I call to make an appointment, the receptionists always pick up the phone promptly and go out of their way to make sure my needs are met in helping to set my appointment. I am truly grateful that I've found such an awesome place to not only get my hair cut, but to relax and enjoy an experience unrivaled by even the top salons in the greatest city in the world. I whole-heartedly recommend this place. You won't be sorry! read more

without a doubt the best haircut and coloring I've ever gotten, rami is so incredibly talented and funny and gracious, and their skill level with every facet of hair is top notch. couldn't recommend these wonderful people enough! read more

Devoted member of Tommy Guns! Lauren is great for long hair. I have a curly/wave and she was able to convince me on changing up my style. Although I've since moved away from Williamsburg, I will DEFINITELY be making the trip back to the salon. read more

Laura is a talented colorist who has taken me from a natural brunette, through different shades of cinnamon and honey, a summery beachy, baliage, all the way to a bombshell platinum and back again. She has great ideas, a fantastic eye, and a straightforward approach. I always leave her chair feeling gorgeous and fresh... So whether you are going for something edgy and intense, or something lovely and subtle, you are in very, very good hands. read more

Fucked up a buzzcut for $25. Twice. And they don't even care. Literally can't get my money back. I left a $25 tip. Pissed. Hate them. Will complain about them until I die. read more

Tommy Guns is the absolute best. $95 may be a bit much for a haircut, but if you are getting color done their prices are very reasonable. The girls here do a better job than any other salon I've been to. read more

This establishment has gone downhill. After over 2 years as a regular customer, I've found that their way of running business seems to be more emotional than professional. The decor is rad like a step back in time, but the attitude by the main receptionist is unsettling. The staff is very nice, but the turn over seems high. Once I build a relationship with a stylist, they leave. Not sure what that says, but actions speak louder or Brooklyn is that way... hard to say, but in my experience there are much kinder establishments in the neighborhood for way cheaper and better quality. I've seen the work of the main hairdresser/Russell, and his work looks exceptionally good, but when I'm not working he's booked up. Too bad. I really wish I could keep going here, but customer service is high on my values and being treated consistently matters to me. read more

Favorite place to get beard trims and for only $15! Ashlie took care of me and I couldn't be happier. Once you walk in you feel like you walked onto a set from Boardwalk Empire which was kind of cool. I went on a Friday at 8:15pm and they were closing in 45 minutes but she still took her time to make sure I was completely satisfied. They also do take appointments which is great for people like me who work late. They also have a great selection of grooming products to choose from. I would highly recommend anyone looking to get a trim or a beard trim to visit. read more

I love this salon and love my colorist Laura even more. The interior is gorgeous. Super open and airy. Everyone there is helpful and pleasant. Laura does my color and keeps me looking like a natural redhead, so much so that I often have random people tell me they wish they too could have natural red hair like mine. It looks natural whether I am asking for a deep darker red or a strawberry blonde. I have followed Laura and will continue to use her for all of my coloring needs as long as I live in New York. read more

Camille cut my hair in a graduated Bob. She was very precise and did an excellent job. When I can wash my hair, style and it looks good, I know I received a great cut. Thank you, Camille! Hugs from Jersey City! P.S. It is a safe neighborhood to walk. read more

I have been going to Lisa for 10 years and will follow her wherever she goes! (though because of her minimalist Anglo-inspired chic style Ludlow Blunt is a perfect fit). I'm very stubborn about my hair (somewhat pin-up inspired) but Lisa has helped me keep the cut updated throughout the years, with subtle twists on the cut to modernize it. I've also learned the importance of cutting hair regularly to maintain its shine and bounce. As for color, this is where she really shines -- I've gone to black and back -- without bleaching, but some sulfur-based color remover that worked like magic and left my hair shiny and healthy looking after being stripped! I've also done ombre, sombre, and root to tip highlights (she paints my hair really carefully so book enough time). I seriously will not let anyone else touch my hair! She's also a doll, sweet and charming and incredibly patient. Oooh, and she has what every stylist should have: an impeccable sense of style. Sad the LES location is gone, but the Williamsburg location is more spacious. read more

I have started going to Rami after Derek left to return to the UK. I highly recommend Rami, he does beautiful precision cuts.

This place used to be cool, but sadly, like many things in williamsburg, it's cool factor has plummeted. I came in wanting a couple of inches off the back of my long hair. I asked Jedd to leave the front long (cause it's weaker and I'd been struggling to grow it out), and pull the back up to meet it. Pretty simple request, but instead he cuts about 6 inches off the front and leaves the back long, the exact opposite of what I asked for. However, I'm a flexible person, so if it had been a great cut, I'd have been game, but it was a cheesy, crap cut. I was too stunned to say anything, so paid and left. But a few hours later, I called the salon and said, I think you should know, your stylist cut my hair exact opposite of what I asked for, and I'm really quite unhappy about it, to which the woman said, "I'm so sorry, please come in and we'll refund your money" (I'd paid cash). "I'll leave a note at the desk, so whomever's working will know." Two days later, I go back to the salon, and the woman working says, she knows nothing about it, and can't refund my money in cash, but will paypal me once she clears it with the owner. Fine. I leave. Never get a refund. Call again. never get a refund. Pay another hundred to get a real haircut at a different salon, by someone who actually knows how to listen and cut hair. Judd, you have no style, and Ludlow Blunt, your customer service leaves quite a bit to be desired. Such a disappointment, as I'd gotten a great cut from Russell a few years earlier, and liked the salon. read more

Russell is a genius and I am so happy with my hair since I found him!!! The place reminds you of an olde time barbershop and the staff so nice. Liz did my color and I am feeling younger. So happy! Ludlow Blunt is the best spot. read more
