My one concern is the restaurant's use of plastic containers for hot food, especially containers that appear to be reused multiple times. Repeated washing, heating, and everyday wear can cause many types of plastic to break down over time. As plastic ages, it can develop tiny cracks, become brittle, and potentially release microscopic plastic particles into food. Scientific studies have shown that heat can increase the migration of chemicals and microplastic particles from certain plastics into food and beverages. While the amount can vary depending on the type of plastic and temperature involved, serving very hot food in older, repeatedly used plastic containers may not be the healthiest option for customers. Beyond the potential health concerns, reused plastic containers can retain stains, odors, and bacteria if they are not properly sanitized.
