This place used to be my parents fav place to eat at but they found a place closer and quit coming here for a while. However, my work is nearby so it's been convenient for me to grab food for us after work to eat together so we have been eating here more often. Mom loves the Empress Shrimp here but they automatically add something that makes it a little spicy that makes it too spicy for her. So she has to be sure to tell them no spice. I have tried it with and without spice and it's fantastic either way though I definitely prefer with spice (it wasn't spicy to me, just more flavorful). I'm addicted to the shrimp rolls and steamed dumplings so I gotta get those every time I come here. The egg drop soup is good here as well. I have enjoyed a few main courses but nothing has stood out to the point where I have to have it so I'll have to keep trying different things. I have been eating here for 20 years and I've never had anything that wasn't yummy. I am obsessed with their hot and sour soup, it's better than PF Changs. Every vegetable in every dish is cooked to pure perfection and deliciousness. The service is top notch. If you live within 6 miles of the restaurant you can order delivery after 4:30pm. What makes their option better than Door Dash is that there aren't extra fees and the price for the food for delivery is the same price it is in the restaurant. read more

I got the Kung pao shrimp and wife got the broccoli and beef. The shrimp dish has 6 pieces of medium to slightly large shrimp. Taste was good but could have been spicier. Fried rice was ok but a little dry, not very flavorful and had a slight burnt taste to it. Got hot and sour soup which was good. Wife reported the broccoli and beef tasted good with the broccoli not being overly cooked. Wife got the wonton soup and it was good. Came with fried wonton skins for the soups. To go order: meh. Quickly prepared and brought out promptly, but that's where the positive ends. $45 for two entrees and an order of spring rolls. The spring rolls were filled with cabbage and a scant trace of chicken, heavily fried in a thin pronto-pup-adjacent batter. Departed from expectations, but not bad. Greasy. The king pao chicken was more kung pao celery and peanuts. A pleasant bit of heat at the end, none too spicy; had to be fortified with sliced chicken breast I had on hand at home. Mu shoo pork came pre-wrapped, five pieces to an order. These were oddly filling, so that was good, but still kind of bland. These dish was more of a texture than a taste. The lady at the counter was efficient, if not curt. The interior was pleasant, kind of a peaceful aqueous vibe. All considered, not the best around- and mediocre when stacking up to some of the better Asian in the area. Uhmmm. Just no. This is the very definition of a restaurant that doesn't care. Wait at the door before someone finally notices us and seats us... Wait at the table until someone notices we hadn't been helped... Server couldn't care less. No recommendations... Lots of bragging about hand pulled noodles in the menu that they don't even serve... Sent back two dishes - one for being cold, and another one for being the totally wrong dish. No apologies, just, "oh OK." Another dish was cold, but by then we just decided to finish as quickly as possible. And then the bill. A service charge added automatically???!!! And then you charge tax on top of the service charge. I mean is that even legal??? One of our dishes we asked to be boxed just disappeared... which was fine because it was bad. It's fine to have an American-style Chinese place. But one would hope you would actually make an attempt to make fresh dishes and/or provide good service. Nope... Just a pure rip off. Old school sit down Chinese restaurant, Good place to go on Sunday after church, or lunch anytime. They have a great lunch special that includes an egg roll, soup, fried rice and sweet fried biscuit. I rate this place a B+ or a 6/10. This place is a little far from my neighborhood but I'm willing to take the drive, when you want in there is a lot of traditional Chinese decor and it's quiet. On to the food , now it's not the best Chinese food but it does taste better than average. This is definitely one of the better Chinese places in Memphis. It's just want you're looking for and expecting. The Hunan beef was good. A little heavy on the use of fish sauce but still good. I ordered sweet tea with lemons, shrimp lo mien, and spring rolls. My sister ordered a mixed meat and vegetables basket. The spring rolls had meat in it. My dish was lukewarm. My sister's meats and vegetables were edible but the basket made of Chinese noodles were hard and the white rice was a big lump of glob. We had to ask for lemons and a to go box. It was too small for the meat/ veggies basket. We requested two containers and a bag. It was thrown on the table. I took the ticket to the cashier after having the food paid for. The cashier told me I could have left it. I said I was coming towards the exit anyway. He said in reply, you should have left it as he walked to the opposite in of the counter looking in that direction drinking a beverage. He was not hospitable and showed no response of courtesy. This is Cantonese and it is delicious!! The restaurant is clean, service was excellent. The egg rolls are crispy and flavorful. The orange chicken is a huge portion and my kid's' favorite. I recommend the chicken in Tangy Sauce, the Kung Pao, the Szechuan, and the Royal Panda Shrimp. I have eaten here many times. All the dishes that say "spicy" are barely spicy so if you like it hot, you will have to request that. I haven't had anything here that I don't like. It's all satisfying and comfort food. read more

As long as I keep my eyes open and my senses keen I can find some gems in the inner city that will blow this place away. Additionally, I hate all of the the damn fountains! I'm just putting that out there. The dish was served beautifully with a bunch of sauce to use, but the food I ordered already had sauce so I'm not sure what it was for. It included a little salad and soup. It thought it was all very mediocre in taste. Hot and sour was too sweet but still hit the spot. Other food was just blah, meh, blah , meh.... My server was a white guy with multiple piercings and very little personality. I understand why as I was the only patron dining in during my entire visit. I was there at 1:30 on a weekday. I'll admit I didn't try the authentic Asian dishes but oh well. I wasn't presented that menu either. It's not my thing. Moving along. It is worth three stars though. This is the only Chinese restaurant I can eat at. Sweet n sour chicken is amazing. I frequent high-end restaurants and I am telling you this is really good Chinese food. Been eating here for over 30 years now and have not sent a dish back once. I don't even know who a close second would be. It's hard to convince my friends to meet me at a Chinese restaurant, but everyone I've brought here agrees with me. I met my friend here today and he said the duck is "really good". He should know since He is an avid duck hunter. I will say that I miss seeing the original owners here. I haven't seen the lady with the very long black hair in a couple of years. I suspect they sold the place and don't manage it anymore. I've noticed that the restaurant isn't spotless like it used to be. The floor is usually dirty. We got here when they opened this morning and I had to ask a server to sweep up the very obvious pile of trash and food under our table, which must have been left from yesterday. read more

For 9.00 it was a little smorgasbord. The Kung pao was the star and very flavorful, the rice was dry, salad good, donut unnecessary. I ordered from there for the first time today. I called in my order and the lady was rude while taking my order. I go and pick up this 54$ order and the portions were enough to feed my two children. The same lady that took my order was the one I paid and she still had a horrible attitude and very snobby. I asked was sauce in the bag and she didn't answer me until she counted out my change,the waiter did and I had 1 mustard and three soy sauce and I asked for a few more and she had an attitude with that.
