Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - absolutely delicious food for the mains but the sides were not that impressive POP (8 piece) Gizzard with Onion Rings, Garlic Toast, and 2 sauces. The gizzards were fried well but didn't have much flavor other than the batter. The onion rings were nicely fried but not much flavor either so needed ketchup or sauce to help it along. The garlic toast was very oily/greasy especially as you get closer to the center. The lucky wishbone sauce tasted of cocktail sauce with some more horseradish 7 piece Dark Special with a mix of legs and thighs. The fry on these chicken was amazing with such a crunch on the outside but the inside was deliciously moist. The batter is on the saltier side but still so good Ambience: 4/5 - older restaurant that smelled slightly of disinfectant and not at all of the food. Pictures that showed its history and lots of sport posters. The windows are slight scratched and some tiles had holes. The tables and chairs were clean but it felt a bit dusty overall Service: 5/5 - friendly but couldn't give much details or recommendations for the menu. About 15 minute wait for our food Value for price: 5/5 - delicious food overall but the pricing is a bit odd... for example, it would have been cheaper to get a Jr Gizzard with 4 a la carte pieces (7 + 3.8 = 10.8) rather than the POP Gizzard (11.50)

Used to be good...now it seems like the employees are miserable and is shows in the food. Ordered a pop gizzard and this is what I got.

We simply stopped here for the fact that this location sells or should I say serves gizzards and liver. The group and I that visited here we ordered some of everything from their menu and I must say that from the moment we walked in from when we placed our orders and picked up our food from the counter it was a good visit. The associates they are polite and well mannered. At this location you place your order but you do not pay for your order until it is ready. The shrimp combo meal is good they're fried gizzards are also really good they are battered fried but still very tender and flavorful. They also have some desserts that you can choose from as well. If you're looking for a little something different like the gizzards or liver give this place a try

Hair, plus shrimp

I love livers and gizzards... this place shouldn't even try. Livers were "fishy" not fresh. Gizzards, weren't that bad, but not great. Shrimp... were shrimp, low tier. Same thing with the onion rings, low tier. Garlic toast. Please stop. Bread with garlic powder. Extremely disappointed. I really wanted to like this place, but won't be back.

Very good quality food. As a first-timer, I can see why this is a place to go and one of the original fast food places of Tucson. A simple and easy to read menu with almost everything that can be customized in a combo box I ordered a Mom steak finger box. I was told the "sauce" is like a cocktail sauce. So I switched it out for ranch. Didn't think it went well with steak fingers. Being from Texas, I would have preferred cream gravy. Being used to DQ, I was surprised at the size of the steak fingers. They were about the width of 3 of their french fries. But had a nice chew to them and I could tell they were the real deal. Absolutely love the garlic toast. If they made their grilled cheese with this toast, I would have ordered that. If I ever make it back to Tucson, I'd make a trip into a location. Definitely was a surprise to order, have the food prepared and then pay. But if that's a system that works for them, who am I to judge.

A new week another first time visit. This week we visit Tucson Chix located at Grant and Craycroft…read morein the former Burger King location. Upon entering it almost has a barn like feel to it. High vaulted ceilings, raw wood trim, concrete floors. Overall well kept up, not dirty. They have a variety of chicken sandwiches on the menu along with bone in, boneless and chicken strips. A big plus is having cheese curds. They have a self order kiosk as well as walk up register. I went with a "Wildcat" and a "Asiago Parmesan" chicken sandwich, an order of cheese curds and a black unsweetened tea. My son ordered the "Sonoran" chicken sandwich. Let's start with the cheese curds, these are the real deal, white cheddar cheese of all shapes and sizes fried to a perfect golden brown. They pop when you eat them! Best I've had in Tucson! Now for the chicken sandwiches. Man I've driven by this place 100's of times. Why did I wait so long to stop in? The "Wildcat" Juicy perfectly golden fried chicken strips with lettuce, tomato, purple onion, chipotle mayo on a soft sweet delicious brioche bun. The "Asiago Parmesan " again first bite and the juices flowed. Parmesan chips top this delicious sandwich along with lettuce and delicious sauce. The freshness of ALL ingredients is absolutely on par. I am going to just say it, as a lifetime Tucsonian, I have never no do I think I will, find a better chicken sandwich in this town. So far, absolutely hands down the best fast food in this town. I will for sure be back. A+++ Happy eating all!

Stopped by here on driving home from Roadies…read more We got it to go which is about a 20-25 minute drive. It took a bit waiting in the drive thru for our food but to me that just means they fried it fresh. Overall the flavoring of everything was good. My husband noted the teriyaki chicken wings were drowned in sauce and was too much for him but I enjoyed them. The el picante is actually spicy. It's a slow burn, you don't get hit with how spicy it is until a few moments after you take a bite or bites. There were many other things on the menu we wanted to try but did not want to over fill on food. We will be back. I would recommend this place.

This past weekend, we found ourselves on a quest to find casual and tasty foods to serve at our…read moreSuper bowl gathering. As we began to look,(basically, we just did a google search) , Wings and Rice showed up on our, "food radar" . After noting the high number of 5-star ratings that were consistently being given to WINGS & RICE by my fellow Tucsonians, my wife asked if I would stop by and grab some wings to bring home to share with our honored guests. Upon arriving home, the wings were quickly decimated by our guests. The fact that they were gobbled up so fast and raved about, is probably the best and most-honest evidence that the numerous five-stars ratings given to WINGS & RICE are "spot-on" in their assessments. The place is "kind-of unassuming"--as it sits on the south-east corner of Pima and Craycroft in Tucson. Despite the fact that I have passed it numerous times-- wondering about it, and even considered giving it a go, I ultimately have never stopped in. Shame on me, as i we came to really enjoy the food here! This does then beg the question... "How many other hidden gems like this have I been passing by?" But then, in the bigger view of it all, isn't this the primary reason that YELP exists?! I think YELP got its name from the sound a dog makes after being kicked--which is what should have happened to me for passing this place so many times. ( *That origin story is not true--I just made that up for comedic effect.) So anyways, in my humble opinion (*for what that is worth), the place is the culinary equivalent of Duncan the Tall--a simple, but honorable hedge-knight in the HBO series, "A Knight of the 7 Kingdoms." (It's not my place to recommend TV shows here, but this one is a good 'un). And, if you are thinking that my saying this restaurant is like a lowly knight roaming the country-side seeking justice and honor is a criticism against W&R, you are so-so-so wrong! My comparison is intended as a compliment in the highest of regards. For, like Dunk, this place embodies the true ideals of what it means to serve. WINGS & RICE does not adorn itself with fancy-pantsy decorations and art. Instead, it strives to modestly, and without "pomp and circumstance" follow the noble ideals of serving up high quality and tasty chow (at reasonable prices) to the tired, huddled masses--yearning to breath free and fill their bellies. So, my lords and me ladies, pray, allow me to express my final thoughts on the matter of sustenance and refined beverages that can be had-ith at WINGS and RICE... If one be-ith in the moodith for-ith some tastely victuals, this be-ith the place. I probably just lost all shreds of any "street cred" that I may have had-- with my, "playing the fool" by comparing the W&R to a character in a show. (*not to mention my attempt to use the language of the middle ages and falling short). Despite all that, don't pass this place up. It really is, "the good stuff". Make yee way, post-haste and full-tilt to-ith WINGS & RICE!!! Anon! Post script. We opted for the buffalo wings and the lemon and pepper wing flavors from their menu. The lemon and pepper offerings went first and were demolished in seconds...but the buffalo flavored ones did not last long either. Our guests nearly came to "unshielded swords" over who would get the last of these tasty morsels of delectable meats. *And, an added bonus was the side of rice, which, while I was waiting for my order to be completed, I over-heard two different patrons rave about. Cah-ching! They were not wrong... "food-ith of the gods" were those starchy seasoned soft and sticky white grains of heaven--bathing in spicy buttery flavor!

We (lol) decided on the ten-piece wing, half garlic Parmesan and half teriyaki. The order comes with a huge portion of chicken fried rice, a small salad dressed with soy miso, and a soda. The rice was absolutely perfectly cooked and delicious. A special sauce on the side added to its yumminess. The wings were disappointing though. The teriyaki sauce was great but the wings were small and chewy. There was so much delicious rice that the hub and I enjoyed it for two lunches. We will definitely return for the rice.

I got the garlic parm and honey habanero bbq. Those were delicious as well. Kind of wish it came with a bigger side of dressing as 1 for 12 wings is not enough. I didn't eat in, I just ordered to go, but the place seems like a nice restaurant to hangout with friends and family for a couple hours. One thing I was annoyed about is that my bag was covered in grease all over! I would appreciate for next time if that happens, if my food can be placed in a new bag. Seemed like a very sloppy job at packaging the food. Other than that, I would definitely order from here again! :)

Service was amazing and food cooked to order. Let's start with the main event: the wings. These bad boys are big. Not your average, skimpy winglets--these are full, meaty, and satisfying with every bite. The skin is perfectly crispy, the kind that crunches just right and still locks in that juicy tenderness underneath. But what really sets them apart is the sauce. It's a "sweet heat" situation that hits all the right notes--just enough sugar to balance out the spice, and just enough spice to keep you coming back for more. It doesn't overpower; it enhances.
