It was pretty empty the whole time we were there. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming and honestly everybody was very nice and helpful. There was older gentleman who helped my nephew with one of the flight simulators and he had so much fun! There were a lot of simulators and we didn't really have to wait for any. Derek was very helpful with simulators as well and great.

Unfortunately there wasn't enough volunteers to have all the exhibits and simulators running. Certainly the pandemic could be an impact there. The National Western Complex has undergone a major transformation in recent years with the addition…read moreof the CSU Spur buildings, the Livestock Center, and the Legacy Building. More construction is planned, most notably a hotel, parking garage, and the Equestrian Center. The open space facing the Platte River is also being restored and improved. We spent a non-Stock Show quiet afternoon in June visiting the Wilson Art Gallery and the Heritage Center in The Legacy. It is great that there is now a permanent exhibit space for the National Western art collection plus room for temporary exhibits. The current Working the West show was of very high quality and well worth a visit. The Heritage Center space contains a nicely done historical exhibit showing the history and evolution of the National Western Stock Show. This was quite interesting. There's also room next door for The Legacy Saloon, an intimate bar sporting 19th century style, stuffed with original memorabilia from the Western Stock Show Association. The adjacent CSU Spur complex: Vida, Hydro, and Terra, is amazing. These include research/education centers for food, water, and animal health with a strong connection to the public via labs, workshops, and interactive exhibits. CSU experts in agriculture, water quality, and veterinary science provide K-12 programs, summer camps, and higher education as a hub for innovation and community engagement. Major components include food science labs, a hydroponic greenhouse, the Humane Colorado Veterinary Hospital, the Temple Grandin Equine Center, a virtual reality classroom, a theater, and even a coffee shop, plus great views. We spent an afternoon wandering through these buildings and found it all very impressive, educational, and interesting. There are many comfortable seating areas and the Little Finch coffee shop provides a nice respite when you get worn out from looking at all of the labs and exhibits.

Part giant hall/dance hall and part rodeo arena, it was one of the better conference events I have attended. The main entrance had several neat features we enjoyed. The first were the two bars. One was setup inside of an old camper and the other in teh back of an old pickup truck. This touch definitely gave the western vibe I would expect in a place like this. The next room was massive and had buffet style food set out for us with several fun cowboy themed events. It also had a large stage and dance floor where a fun band played and a brave few danced. If this had been the only rooms used for our event it would have been a hit. But wait, there's more. There is a whole rodeo venue next door. We were treated to a full rodeo which was a first for a work conference for me. I have been to rodeo, but never at work conferences. The only drawback was all of the seats were taken. Considering our coference had around 18,000 people, this is not unexpected. If you are looking for a large venue for your event, we enjoyed our time here.

My last full day visiting the Denver area and I was looking to something kind of quick to do. I…read morethought this museum would fit the bill, so I came! The best part is that it has FREE Admission!! I parked out in the lot just off E. Alameda Pkwy near the front of the Aurora Municipal Center. I was kind of stumped as to where to enter the museum. I walked past the cool sculpture called "Light Of Dawn" by Rafe Ropek. If you keep walking on that sidewalk, you will find the entrance is at the far end of the building right near the gate/fence. I really wanted to see the 1913 Street Car Trolley! It is in a room all by itself. It has been immaculately restored! I like the vintage ads inside! There's lots of information about transportation, too! You can learn how Aurora started out and grew! There was a Buckingham Square Mall that opened in 1971. It had two Palace Guard mascots named Buck and Ham. It was demolished in 2007. It was rebuilt into what is now Gardens On Havana shopping center. I was fascinated to learn that there in a Mission Viejo neighborhood in Aurora. It was modeled after the Mission Viejo in Orange County, CA! In the exhibit of "Growing Home Aurora", there's an extensive collection of memorabilia! I found out that Niagara Bottling, LLC has a plant in Aurora! I wandered through the "Mosaic of Cultures: Aurora's Mexican Community" area. For history's sake, I should have eaten at La Cueva. It is featured in this area. The founders of the restaurant immigrated to the U.S. in the 1950's. There's an exhibit called "Tatanka: The Spirit of the Land" that has lots of beautiful Bison paintings by Arturo Garcia. On my way out, I picked up A Guide to Aurora, too! It lists landmarks and historic sites with pictures. It was great to learn about Aurora!

The museum is free and there's a lot thats being discussed to increase visibility. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. They have such a diverse knowledge about the history of Aurora and some of Colorado so feel free to ask questions. I learned a lot about Aurora. It gets such a bad rep and is most well known for tragedies. I never knew there was such history about this city. The hit of the museum and a must see is the trolley. I wish Denver had kept the trolley running so it made it special like in San Francisco. What a wonderful piece of Colorado history at the museum. You can also walk and sit in the trolley as well. This beautifully restored building was originally opened in 1915 as the Parker Schoolhouse, then in…read more1967 was taken over by Parker United Methodist Church which built the annex in 1978. It was acquired by the Town of Parker in 1995 to use as a community center. A recent $3 million renovation has restored the historic portion of the building to immaculate condition and completely revamped the newer annex section. The complex includes an event room, meetings rooms, a dance studio, a 200-seat theater, an art gallery curated by the Parker Artist Guild, and an historical museum managed by the Parker Area Historical Society. The facility hosts community arts events and classes in theater, dance, music, and visual arts. The theater lobby now has a large concession area with new bathrooms and much more space and the theater has new seats and risers for much-improved sight lines. The theater is also now fully ADA-compliant. The renovations have been extremely well-done. The new theater lobby is spacious and has a well-designed concession area. There's lots of room for the art gallery and for the little historical museum off to one side. The original Schoolhouse section maintains lots of original woodwork and has been opened up to show the original layout. There are lots of spaces for classes and meetings. The Schoolhouse is right in the middle of historic Parker with lots of shops and restaurants a short stroll away. It is a great adjunct to the larger PACE Center which is a couple of blocks down the street on the edge of the historic district.

Came for Free Friday Denver Museum night. They have space for temporary exhibits and a permanent…read morespace. The temporary exhibit was "Migrants: A Tale of Two Hearts". Very thought-provoking with photos, videos and personal items left behind when crossing into the U.S. A floor display was very interesting. It showed abandoned sneakers all oriented in one direction over a bed of leaves. The permanent space had a scale model of the Pyramid of the Magician in Uxmal, Yucatan Mexico built by the WPA in 1930. Additional information regarding cultures in from Mexico they Latin America and into South America. I went to the Denver Art Musemn and History Colorado for my other free visits tonight.
