They're known for their breakfast burritos, so that's the best thing to get here. I've tried the Famous Breakfast Burrito with Sausage ($10.88), and I've also had their Fish Burrito ($10.95). They served both with their red sauce, and I wasn't really a fan of it. I've heard that their green sauce is better, but they didn't give us a choice when they handed us our orders. We ordered at the windows, and then there's tables either on the inside or outside. Then you just wait for them to call your number, and they you would pick up your order at the counter on the inside. The breakfast burrito has hash browns, egg, cheese, and your choice of protein. It's definitely a dense burrito, but that means that you get a lot on the inside. Personally I preferred topping it off with some ketchup over the red sauce that they gave with it. The fish burrito wasn't the best; I wouldn't order it again. I'm sure they just took frozen fish sticks, fried them, and then stuck them into the burrito. There wasn't any sauce on the inside, it only came with the side of red sauce. There wasn't much flavor aside from the fish, since it only also had lettuce and tomatoes inside. The breakfast burrito is definitely the best thing they have, but I'd be open to trying some other items on the menu. The fish burrito was a miss though, so I wouldn't get it again, but hopefully there's better luck with their asada or burgers. read more

My friend was craving some chili cheese fries and I was looking around the neighborhood and stumbled on this local favorite. I'm so shocked it isn't busier than it should be! Everything is under 10 dollars and for the portions you get it's crazy. The chili cheese fries fed the both of us and we were full. I love the thin breading on the zucchini fries and the ranch is probably the best ranch I've had with the Zucchini fries. It's thick and salty. The patty meal was also only around 7 dollars such a steal for a double patty burger/sandwich. I even had left overs for lunch the next day. I would say the food is super greasy but it was so so good. My husband and I were in Pasadena for a few days and came across Lucky Boy by accident. We ordered the pastrami burger, the chicken club sandwich, and the zucchini fries. We loved all of it! We took our son there a couple days later and he ordered the fish burrito. What an utter disappointment!! It should have been called a LETTUCE burrito because the 2 small pieces of fried fish hardly made it a fish burrito. I couldn't believe how much lettuce was in that tortilla. I guess what we learned is that if you stick to the burgers and sandwiches you won't be disappointed. Lesson learned but we likely won't stop there the next time we are in Pasadena. read more

I used to come here weekly when I worked in old town. I was in Pasadena during the morning and remembered how good the breakfast burritos were back in the 90's. Drove into the parking lot around 8AM and it was empty....um it used to be packed . Parked and walked up to the ordering area and there were a couple of people waiting for their food. Ok - give me 2 breakfast burritos with bacon and sausage (there's an extra charge for 2 meats).- each burrito was $11.55 before tax. It took a couple of minutes to get them ready. When they call your number, you have to walk inside to get your order. The breakfast burritos were just as I remembered them to be. We used to come here many years ago and remembered that the breakfast burrito was very delicious. We ended up ordering the three meat burrito with avocado and chili cheese fries. The burrito was definitely a very large portion and could feed two people. It was filled with bacon, ham, and sausage along with a lot of avocado. Have you ever had an experience where you bite into a burrito and it was all tortilla and little meat? That is not the case here! Every bite into the burrito was filled with flavor and lots of meat and ingredients. Don't forget to use the red and green salsa that comes with the burrito. The avocado was a little overwhelming and I think we will skip the avocado next time. Regardless, I will definitely be getting the three meat burrito again in the future. The chili cheese fries were also very good. my wife enjoyed the cheese that was on top of the fries and again, the portion size was very big (in a good way). We had our little fur baby with us so we sat outside on the patio, so I appreciate that it's dog friendly outside. We got the pastrami sandwich, vegetable burrito, and onion rings. It is a huge burrito that I always share with my boyfriend and when we eat half an order for breakfast, we get so full that we skip lunch. Got to eating and the first thing I noticed was it was pretty dry. For sure hefty with the portion size and fairly priced at around $11-$15, but you really need salsa or some sort of sauce with each bite. While I appreciate them not skimping on ingredients, the cheese was just way too much and clumpy. For that alone i wish Lucky Boy nothing but continued success. This review is for their breakfast burrito, which really is more like a bacon burrito. It's awful. Los Angeles is a city of breakfast burritos, and i can see on some level why Lucky Boy's is so well-known. It appears gargantuan, but thats really a result of the 1/3-1/2 pound of bacon strips they stick in there. Maybe getting served a 1/2 pound of crispy bacon was a cool idea in the mid 90's, but so was MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice. The bacon was quite crispy and had a nice texture, it barely had any flavor. A lack of smokiness or saltiness. With incredibly poor judgement, Lucky Boy's BB uses potatoes instead of hash browns or tots. And these potatoes are so boring and bland they might get kicked off NPR. These were mushy, soft, flavorless potatoes. It was a good quality tortilla. The tortilla has to be strong to accommodate the slab of bacon and potatoes, and it does its job well. The eggs and cheese - pretty important parts of the "breakfast" in breakfast burrito - were completely dislocated and pushed out by the slab of bacon and awful potatoes. The eggs and cheese serve to bind a breakfast burrito together, not having this critical component is like having a pizza without cheese or sauce. And when your the ratio of your breakfast burrito by weight is 50% bacon, 45% potatoes, and 5% eggs & cheese, what do you expect? This was one of the worst breakfast burrito's ive ever had - period. Let's not forget about the salsa. Their salsa sometimes can be a hit or miss. When it's a hit, it's a real hit! But when it's not, it's quite sad. Glad this time the salsa was a hit! I honestly think it depends on the day or who makes it because sometimes it doesn't give you the kick of spice that you want, and sometimes it does. They even started selling their salsa's for $0.50 if you wanted extra. I've also tired the chorizo breakfast burrito as well, it is a little more saucy but also as yummy! Wanted to try a fish burrito and 80% of the burrito was lettuce. Made everything cold and soggy. This is only about half of the lettuce I took out. Over all I just wouldn't recommend that burrito.
