Sadly, this great take-out place has not lived up to it's well-earned great reputation lately. The hot and sour soup, which used to be the greatest north of Chicago, has devolved into a cornstarch gelatinous goo, with few of the classic ingredients. We normally are very satisfied with whatever we order. However, last night was a complete disappointment. We ordered Orange Chicken and instead of being nice and tender, the chicken was hard. It was not enjoyable at all. Then the cashew chicken came with rice in the container so we got only 1/2 an order. And the Sweet and Sour Pork had very little pork in it. The best part of the meal was the fortune cookies. When I called to find out what happened they only offered a 10% discount on my next order. This is not acceptable. Placed an order for delivery on 23 March. I explained to the order taker that all I had was a $50.00 bill, ( and five $1 bills for tip ) so could they please make sure the delivery driver had change. I was told this would be no problem. Over an hour after placing my order, I was called by the driver saying he went to the wrong address, and my food would be about another 15-20 minutes. OK. To be nice, I waited outside in the rain, so the delivery driver would not even have to get out of their vehicle. Thirty - eight minutes later the delivery driver arrived. He took the $50 and pocketed it. When I asked for change, he said he did not have any, and "I should just give a big tip". When I explained I was not going to give a $30 tip on a $24 order, he said he could " maybe do a 10". I again declined. He said " well, by the time I get go and get change, your shit will be cold, so I should just give him the change" I said to forget it, went in the house and called the restaurant, The young lady I spoke with seemed to not understand the problem, so I said to just cancel my order. She was clearly not happy, but said ok. About 12 minutes later I get a call from whom I think was the delivery driver, informing me that since I cancelled the order, I would not be permitted to order delivery from them again. Ever. OK. Not a problem. At this point you have lost a customer that usually ordered every couple weeks. I will certainly never do business with Lucky Bamboo , since they seem to want to rip off their customers. read more

Okay if you like raw dough. The sweet and sour was just a box full of half cooked balls of dough with a soupçon of tough flavorless meat inside the raw dough. No pineapple or onions or peppers which I am accustomed to getting with such a dish elsewhere. My mistake to order $30 worth of food from this place the first time out. First time we tried this place, we must've gotten lucky. It was good, good enough to go back and have some decent Chinese food in this un-diverse town. However the next few times were disappointing. The pepper beef was so salty it was inedible. Last night's try was the last straw. Our moo shoo pork was burned. Definitely a much needed change from your typical American restaurant in Manitowoc, and a lot better than Panda Express. I've even ordered in the middle of a snowstorm and they still deliver- which goes without saying that the owners are always friendly. Crab rangoons are a must-have and General Tso's chicken as well, not to mention the portions are decently sized. Spoke to owner and was told "delivery driver told us your address was at least 3 miles away" Funny how this site states I am 2.2 miles from 807 Buffalo St. I ordered at least 10 times before discovering this.Hope you are happy to lose a recurring customer because you employ a lying driver. We hadn't been here for a while. Decided it give it another shot. The spring rolls were okay. The broccoli was cooked well, most places overcook vegetables, not here. The downfall was the "sweet and sour shrimp". Heavily battered, deep fried and served with a suspiciously red colored sauce. It was all edible; but nothing to write home about. read more

Well they talk about your food not agreeing with you..who ever heard of your food standing you up! We ordered food for delivery, they told us it would be about an hour and we waited and waited and the food never showed up!! I tried to call the place and no answer! What an incredible disappointment! My question is what if we had payed with a credit card would they have just ripped us off? Picked up the order only to discover after arriving back at home the order was missing one of the entrees. Naturally, I called to 'politely' make them aware of the situation & request they deliver the entree they overlooked to my address - less than 2 miles away. I was informed they would not/could not extend me that courtesy as 'it wasn't policy' & could either come back or they could credit my cc. I like this place. It's not fancy, but the food is good, the prices reasonable, and it's always been ready on time. I recommend the Black Pepper Chicken! On Thursdays you can get pho-- you have to ask for it, I don't think it's on the menu. Get a copy of their paper to-go menu for some coupons. read more

Lucky Bamboo is our weekly staple. The food is fresh, consistent and healthy. We love the fact we can order most items with a lighter sauce and enjoy the taste of the vegetables and meat. My husband, daughter and I love this Chinese restaurant. We eat in and take out often. They remember us when we come in. They are consistent on flavors. My husband usually orders the Garlic Chicken and has no disappointment. Flavor is spot on. My daughter orders the Sweet Sour Chicken and loves it. She is a picky eater. I order the Pho. It is delicious and the depth of flavors are wonderful. This does come with jalapenos and beans sprouts on the side. I also the steamed chicken and mixed vegetables. I don't use their sauce but it is delicious. Their vegetables are always fresh. When we go into this restaurant, they are busy non stop. Make every effort for eat in or take out to make sure everyone is satisfied. Like I said they are very busy for a small work staff and quality is their priority. read more
