I've been going to TR at Lucky 7 for a while now and have always been so pleased with the cuts I've recieved. But yesterday she gave me the cut I've been looking for for a very long time. TR is always attentive and offers good direction, and I now have "my look"! Prices are super reasonable, cuts are quick and no pressure to purchase products you don't want or need. My 3+ year hair journey has not been an enjoyable one. In Jan of '25, I spent upwards of $145 at a reputable salon...only to leave with the feeling that i'd been duped (was in the chair for an hour, and my hair was STILL unmanageable a day later). On top of that, I was left with a weird triangle shape (pic 1) that had me close to the, "i'm chopping it all off" point. I took a chance on Lucky 7, and was "lucky" enough to meet Elaine and benefit from her expertise/advice. Wow, just WOW...what a difference! I'm not a huge fan of the pandemic, but one positive thing it did for me was to create the need to find a new barber. I am so glad I found Lucky 7. The staff are experts at what they do. For me, it was changing my style to a very short fade. Given cowlicks that could win a prize at the county fair, this was a challenge, but one that TR overcame the first time I went there, and refined in subsequent visits. I can honestly say that I am getting the best haircuts I have ever had anywhere. And not only is TR a phenomenal barber/stylist, she is a very interesting, multi-talented person, and a great human being. You can't ask for better. read more

I have gone to this hair salon three times, and have a poor experience the last couple of visits. Each time my haircut has been much shorter than I would have liked, despite requests to leave some length. In some places, I have noticed that my hair is now too short to lay down how I usually wear my hair. I went in today looking to get a quick trim but I left with a buzz cut. This is not the first time this has happened here. I came in asking for a buzz on the side and an inch off the top. I am also here to agree with what seems to be a large swath of people who take issue with the management, and genuinely like Sherry. You can read from other reviews here that she has moved. My hair dye was a pretty coppery shade for my wedding. The second time at Lucky 7 it turned out a dull purple brown disappointment. Sherry realized the product was not the right one and told me at the end that I could come back within three days to get the color fixed if I wanted. I sort of suffered and wondered what went wrong. Only yesterday I went to Spins and realized what went wrong. The manager/owner didn't have color inventory correctly done. Yesterday I figured out where to find Sherry around the corner. Sheri Roit at Lucky 7 is the only person I let cut my hair now. I keep my hair relatively short and am particular about the style. It took a long time searching and searching for a hair stylist who wouldn't ask something like "are you sure you want me to shave your neck" or "well I cut it this short and then you tell me if that's still what you want to do..." but finally I sat down in Sheri's chair and she understood exactly what I wanted. No questioning, no hesitation, just exactly what I asked for. Minus one star because they don't wash my hair when I come in for a cut - still a deal ($25 plus tip) though since I'm never disappointed. read more

Jeez, what is it with hipster-themed service industries?! I recently moved, and because I no longer had my standard haircut venue in walking distance I'd grown my hair out pretty bad, and finally took the opportunity to walk around and find a new place. I passed by a more feminine place and also a stereotypical Korean place, and decided on this under the false assumption that "barber" would mean "cheaper, casual, owned and operated by kids from the neighborhood." The decorations were suuuUUUUuuuper cool and edgy when I walked in, and had the rest of the experience gone well I doubt I'd have included all those sarcastic U's. They also had a friendly dog there, which was probably the best part of the experience. The lady I ended up with dressed suuuuUUUUuuper edgy and hip....then she opened her freaking mouth. Distant, confrontational, standoffish and condescending, she made me yearn for a DMV. I requested just a standard cheap short cut, nothing frilly, and explained how my neighborhood change had me checking out new local shops. She wanted to know how long ago I had my last haircut, and when I responded "probably around 3 months," my vagueness really seemed to piss her off. The haircut happened in silence. I'm giving you my money, it's not my goddamn job to make small talk and be pleasant during your experience. That's YOUR job. At my old place, my stylist barely spoke English and nonetheless created vibrant and inquisitive conversation about the weather, current events, and what sort of stuff I do. In Lucky 7's defense, the other walk-ins seemed to land on friendlier barbers, so maybe I had poor luck of the draw. As a side note, no rinse or shampoo included in a standard cut. When I put my glasses on, I noticed a beer can on the communal stylist's counter. With a different experience, I might have thought this was awesome, and hoped to have that sort of casual party/haircut experience if I got to know the staff better. But considering my service, it just seemed kind of disgusting and unprofessional. And then two final little turds they put in my mouth...A standard cut was $23. That's eight bucks up from my old stylist, where I also got a rinse. And then when I got home, my wife had some complaints and evened out the back of the hair cut. Are you freaking kidding me? I've lived in Wallingford in various locations for almost 5 years now and have gotten my hair cut here 90% of the time, I'd say. I've always had a great cut here, but I'm easy - 3 on the sides and take ~ 1/2 an inch off, depending on how long I've been away. Though they seem to have relatively high turnover, everyone there was skilled enough and did a great job. They also have hair products here too, which i pick up every 4 months or so, at a decent price. read more

I was actually waiting in line for Molly Moons for Ice cream and as I was standing in front of Lucky 7 I notice my reflection in the window and notice my hair has been on the shaggy side lately. My friend said go on and I'll order ice cream for you. So I got my haircut; out of the spur of the moment by one of their friendly hair stylist and it was actually the best hair cut Ive' had in a long time. Good thing I was lucky enough to be standing in front of Lucky 7 when I decided my hair was getting long and they got me done as soon as my friend was cashing out; paying for me and getting good ice cream with my new hair style. One morning, I woke up in an unbeknownst-to-me state of delusion that manifested itself on my hair with the aid of a shaper razor. I did not snap out of this state until it was much too late and I looked like I had asked my 3-year old neice to please cut me some bangs. After some panicking and a friend's advice, I went to Lucky 7. Crystal gave me the talking-to I needed about cutting my hair and fixed what I'd done so the bad parts were hidden and my whole head looked both deliberate and cooler than I actually am. After years of going to Rudy's on The Ave and University Barber Shop, I wanted to find a new barber that was in the Greenlake/Wallingford neighborhood where I didn't have to hassle with paying for parking. Lucky 7 popped up and I gave it a shot. It is a hipster barber shop taking many concepts from the Rudy's chain of shops. Parking in the neighborhood off 45th is so much easier than finding parking in the U District. Angella gave me an exceptional haircut as well and kept up a good conversation. I would have given Lucky 7 four stars if their prices were under $20. At the end, I was hoping for a relatively cheap bill but it was middle of the road at $23. Not bad, I may come back, but will keep looking around a little. read more

My favorite hair stylist, Sherry, moved around the corner onto Interlake Avenue, and I've followed her there. Most of my original review no longer applies, since I haven't tried any of the other stylists. The above three stars should be taken as a "no opinion" rather than a specific comment on the place now. Having a delicious ice cream store next door remains a plus (or a minus if one regards ice cream as a dangerous temptation). Also, in my initial review I mentioned that this was one of two places named "Lucky 7". The other one, in the Uptown area, has changed names, so this is now the only Lucky 7. read more

Unlike lesser "barbers" in this town, these people actually can use things like straight razors and scissors to cut hair. Then again, people who have been close to my shaggy melon lately have mentioned how "they didn't cut it all" or "where did you get your hair cut? They kind of left a lot. You have a couple long hairs here. Hold on. *yank*" So yeah. If you want a styled razor cut and tales of extreme sports, this is a good bet. The worst hair cut experience in 18 years of Seattle hair cuts. Over priced , rushed work with no finesse. Terrible scheduling , nasty attitude ,very unprofessional . When I got home my daughter gasped WTF! My Son said my hair looked the same but worse, and my Aunt said a crew cut would fix it.! The stylist was a 1/2 hr late to the appointment and then stuffed another dude in front of me while I was parking. Offered me a beer while I waited another hour or more and than charged me 5$. I've had 3 good haircuts here, 2 of them from Windy. She is really good with a fade and short haircuts. She doesn't take it too short though, and will cut your hair the way you want it. I haven't experienced any of the rudeness that other people mentioned. In fact, everyone has been really friendly and interesting to talk with. read more
