I was really hoping to enjoy this place since it's nearby and I really like supporting small business. My experience was so so... Customer service: mixed. Behind the counter- One was friendly but the register person seemed she would rather be somewhere else. Pizza: okay a little better than Sams club pizza. Lasagna: Very sloppy and bland. Restaurant is your average Joe. Since it being the only Italian place around, I was "forced" to order. To begin with, there bread is always old, crunchy, and barely editable. The soup came delicious, but chicken was not cooked properly. There turkey decent, but spices added to there turkey sandwich is nothing special, or "family secret recipe". The soup is the only reason I'd give this restaurant 3 stars, otherwise, it would be leaning towards a 2. Lucia's is one of my favorite restaurants to go with my boyfriend. It's a nice quiet spot to get some good quality food. The food is amazing, it is always served fresh. But today we had a bad experience with the server. He was very rude, he judged our order and the way we wanted the food. Furthermore, when he brought the food to us, we asked for extra ketchup and hot sauce but he responded very rudely and didn't want to get us anything. Also, he never checked up on us while we were eating but instead he went to talk to another table. He also didn't offer any refills on drinks. When we asked for the bill, the manger and the waiter wrote on our check "don''t forget to tip" .......... In conclusion the restaurant food deserves a five star but the service with that particular waiter was awful. The other waiters are amazing. The waiters name is Ben-Asama. read more

Terrible experience! Ordered food online for my family with special instructions added in the appropriate section and when the food arrived, the instructions were missed. That part was fine. Mistakes happen. The reason I will NEVER order from this business again is that after explaining in detail what happened, this business looked into it, asked what they could do to fix it, and after explaining that all I wanted was to be either refunded for the portion of the order that was messed up or to have those portions re-delivered, I was told and I quote, "we don't think we've done anything wrong". A very necessary, warm, cozy, and Italian-themed spot in the Great Falls Plaza - conveniently located and walking distance to the vast sea of residences throughout the area. I often wish that I was an expert on authentic Italian cuisine but I do know that I always expect a tasty meal at Lucia's and it's exactly what I get when dining here. The pizzas are all good and straight to the point, and the pasta dishes can more-than satisfy any hankering for pasta, and the dink specials are all decent with a good-enough wine selection. I have this weird obsession with baked ziti and at Lucia's it is everything I crave - filled to the brims with flavor with a perfect crispy up top texture with the perfect cheese-meat ratio. The Lasagna is a close second favorite. Lucia's is also kid-friendly with a decent amount of kid-friendly dishes to choose from as well as an excellent gelato bar. This can be a great quick date night idea as well as a very good place for a large party of people to dine with very friendly staff. read more

Bad Food and Poor Service. Food The pasta was sent to me in a watery tomato broth passed off as sauce. The noodles had zero flavor and the mussels had weird taste and texture. Overall my dish was bland. Service The server only came over when necessary (drink order, food order, check) and had a poor attitude when addressing us. At the end of our meal when he asked how our food was, we told him it wasn't good and he replied that it was because we ate too much bread, then followed that up by quickly deflecting blame to the cooks. We asked to speak with the manager, but instead he just decided to bring us the check and left it to us to go find one ourselves. The manager was very short with us as if he didn't want to be bothered and decided that he would just send the owner to the table. I'm not sure what they told the owner because he came over to our table already on the defensive. He was in no way apologetic for the poor food or service, not receptive to any of our feedback, but instead claimed he's never had any complaints and it's people like us that put small businesses out of business. It's food and most importantly service like we received that will put you out of business. He told us since we didn't like the food we could leave and not come back. I don't think that will be a problem and I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

This is a great neighborhood gem. Great Italian food of all kinds. The pizza has top quality ingredients and a very flavorful crust. The subs here are quite delicious as well. They have a large selection of pastries and gelato. The pastries are very fresh and quiet delicious. The Napolitan and profiteroles are amazing. One dish you must try is the gnocci. It has a flavorful cream sauce and tender gnocci. This restaurant delivers and the delivery drivers are very friendly and very prompt. You must try this little gem. read more

The odd thing is I've experienced great experiences and horrible ones. Because of the inconsistency we are done with Lucia's. We were thrilled when the store opened, replacing complete nightmare of a restaurant. For the first 4 months, once (sometimes twice) a week we'd get take-out. We even had Christmas Eve dinner there. As the months went on, the quality went from reliable to wildly inconsistent. Some weeks the pizza would be intensely greasy, with way too much sauce, other weeks the cheese was clearly stale, and sometimes it was pretty good (for Virginia) pizza. The same went for other orders. Some times the veal would taste like is was seasoned with 2 cups of salt, and others it was perfect. After three consecutive bad experiences, we gave up for a few months. Last week we decided to give it a try again. Asked for little sauce (my daughter hates sauce). When I got home, I opened up a saucy grease-bomb of a pizza. So greasy, when I took a butter knife to cut apart the slices (it wasn't properly cut), the knife went right through the box. After we stopped going I had picked up Papa Johns for the kids (hey, I'm not going to argue with them on taste), and the owner seeing me walked by and asked "hey, what gives?" After telling him about the experiences, his response was troubling. He acted insulted that I could possibly think he served a sub-par product and blew me off. And I guess that's why I have no hope for this place - arrogance. If the owners, who clearly from every conversation I've had with them, think they are serving a great product, they'll never change. It will always be hit or miss and they'll linger around until the community gets fed up and they'll blame it on the people for not having taste. I have no patience to deal with that. read more

However this review isn't for the food or the establishment (which is great) I believe credit should be given where due. Our server this evening, Therese was such a kind person, where most servers I've ever experienced an hour before close usually are the opposite. Not to mention we even had a Groupon and which usually changes the way you're served since the perception is "Cheap" clients. Ryan at the front and Therese can really make people feel so welcome and so glad to give Luciano's business. *Dining Environment* - 1 star The restaurant was open for about a week when we stopped by so you would expect it to be clean, and it was. When you walk in, most of the dining is on the left side, along with the bar, which had 3 flat screen televisions around the bar perimeter. The right side had some seating, plus a small area where they sold italian goods to make the food at home. *Food Presentation* - 0 star We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, and spaghetti & meatballs and cheese ravioli for our appetizers. When served to us, the calamari with a side of marinara sauce looked ho-hum. The spaghetti & meatballs looked pretty presentable. The cheese ravioli looked like it was swimming in the marinara sauce. Not too impressive. *Food Taste* - 0 star The calamari just tasted so-so and it just didn't have a freshness factor that I've seen in other italian restaurants. And to me, when you just get the calamari rings but not the tentacle part of the squid, it just loses points. The spaghetti sauce itself is alittle runny for my taste, but some may prefer it that way. The meatballs were delicious! The cheese ravioli weren't bad, just nothing to write home to. As a note, they were supposed to provide complimentary rolls, but the server and eventually one of the owners who stopped by had explained that their new chef made an error in it's preparation, so the rolls came out hard and were not serve-able, so they provided us some sliced bread as an alternative. Let's just say the bread was bland. *Service* - 1 star The waitress was really nice. She did forget some of the things we had originally ordered, like the meatballs with our spaghetti (which she eventually brought out separately, but we had to wait like 5 minutes while not trying to eat the spaghetti in front of us), and she needed to be told to re-fill our empty soda glasses. I'll attribute it to opening week jitters and not dock her points for it because she had a great attitude. Plus one of the owners stopped by to apologize about the roll predicament. *Bang for Buck (Value)* - 0 star One of the unfortunate things about Lucia's is that it replaced an italian restaurant that used to be in that location, Carmine's, so unfairly or not, you can't help but compare what you got to what Carmine's used to provide. And we had really liked Carmine's. The obvious comparison is that we got more spaghetti for a cheaper price with Carmine's than with Lucia's. And it's very apparent: with Carmine's, it felt like you got enough spaghetti for two people off of one entree. With Lucia's, it felt like the spaghetti was portion controlled if you were counting calories. And you paid a couple dollars less for this dish with Carmine's. Now I don't mind paying more for Lucia's, especially for those delicious meatballs, but given that pasta is relatively cheap, it should be heaving when served. I should walk away eating that spaghetti feeling absolutely full, not munching on the bread afterwards just to fill alittle more space. That's one thing that Lucia's can quickly improve upon. Another minor comparison note, the salad that Carmine's provided with the meal was complimentary. Now it may have been really simple iceburg lettuce with some other accoutrements, but you felt you were really getting value with your meal. *Verdict* - 2 star total I can call it opening week growing pains, but not sure if there will be major improvements, considering this is their 3rd restaurant within the area. They might be able to improve the taste, but changing the presentation and food value would probably require a change for all 3 restaurants. read more

We tried Lucia's when it first opened, and wrote off the bad experience to them being new and a bit out of control. We waited a long time for our Lasagna, they kept promising bread, but kept forgetting, the Lasagna did arrive, but burned on the bottom - and was only so/so. Not impressed at all. After a month had passed, we decided to try it again, it was not a good experience. Bowl of Minestrone soup (small for price) oily and I have to admit I make better soup, no crackers to go with soup (a bit surprised) and soup was only warm, not even hot on a cold day. We also got pizza and it was gross - the crust was a soggy mess, like wet rubber or leather, I couldn't even eat it. Again we never received bread or rolls while we waited for the pizza. Service was so/so. Personally I doubt they will make it, poor quality, high price for what is served, nothing to get excited about, sad as it's a great location for us. read more

First, let me say I haven't actually dined in at Lucia's, but if their dining room is anything like their food, I'm likely to try eating the tables/chairs/lamps. We ordered takeout from Lucia's last night on the whim of trying a local Italian place we'd never sampled before. I knew they were a little far from our home, but the super friendly gentleman on the phone (didn't catch his name!) said their delivery guy (Josh, I believe?) wasn't busy and would be happy to deliver to us. Bonus points for recognizing the voice of a hungry, Sunday night football fan. Even though we were outside of their delivery range, they didn't charge us extra, AND the food was there in 30 minutes! Bravo! Going the extra mile (literally, in this case) is what makes a small business successful. So well done in the customer service department, Lucia's. As for the food? Holy. Moses. The man and I ordered the Lasagna and the Tortellini al Tino with the intent of splitting them evenly between the two of us. Mayhem ensued. Suffice it to say there was a lot of fork stabbing and elbow throwing as we tried to decide which delicious dish we enjoyed more. The jury is still out. Both the entrees and the side salads we enjoyed were made with fresh ingredients and were good sized portions. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the superb Cannolis, as well - in traditional cream and chocolate. Do yourself a favor: find a friend and order one of each...... or forget the friend and still order one of each. So, thanks, Lucia's!! I really wanted Lucia's to be good. Alas, it is terrible. The spaghetti carbonara was loaded with cream (I've never had nor made carbonara this way--eggs, yes; cream, no), quartered pieces of bacon--not pancetta--raw mushrooms. Really amateurish, really bad. My wife's lasagna was all sauce and melted cheese, little substance. Our poor daughter who ordered mac and cheese was delighted with Kraft (I was not). The $9 glass of chianti was perhaps 4 ounces; should have been at least 5. Desserts were pretty good (I had heard that was the case). Unfortunately I think Lucia's will have the same fate as the previous two Italian-ish places that preceded it in this location. read more

There was once a Lucia's close to my house and it was magnificent. That place was sold and, eventually, went out of business. How lucky were we, though, to discover this original Lucia's? This is not a fancy place but it doesn't need to be. The folks in the kitchen know what they're doing and manage to serve the best Italian dishes I've ever had. I was recently here with my wife and kids. I overheard the owner talking to some customers, stating that he really wished his mother could have lived to see what Lucia's has become. He takes such pride in what he's doing and that pride is obvious. Lucia's is an act of love and it's one that can be felt in one's stomach. read more

However, this does not mean you can call yourself an Italian restaurant and serve a Mediterranean Salad with vegetable oil instead of olive oil. Good thing I asked for dressing on the side. It was simply oil/vinegar dressing, which is what I like. I did ask to have the salad dressing made with olive oil instead, and the server agreed and had them make the substitution. But the initial thick oil slick made me lose my appetite anyway... You lost me! Do not save money by using canola oil for salads instead of olive oil please! read more

This place is right in my wheel house. Good food, GREAT service and a wonderful laid back feel. We have only eaten here for dinner. We've ordered many different items on their menu, and have consistently been impressed. In addition they'll change around their menu for you (we like pasta carbonara with cavatelli pasta, and they'll make it). Be ready for GIANT portions (typical for most Italian places), unless you order the lunch portion. We noticed that recently they raised their prices, which is the ONLY reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5. We've have different servers every time we've gone, and always get exceptional service. They deliver pizza as well, but I would recommend going to the store and eating it there. By the time it gets to your house it losing a little something and isn't as delicious. read more

Tasteless, and tactless! Horrible food and customer service. I normally don't leave reviews but this experience warrants documentation. My mom, fiancé and I went to Lucia's Sunday night for a nice Italian dinner, or what we thought would be, man were we wrong. When we sat down our waiter seemed less than interested to serve us but we had looked on the menu prior to arriving and knew exactly what we wanted. I ordered the gnocchi with cream sauce, my mom got linguini with mussels and my fiancé ordered linguini with shrimp, mussels, and calamari. Our waiter asked us all if we wanted salads with our food (which is extra) and we all said no, but asked if it came with bread because if not we would order some. He seemed disappointed with our choice of not adding salad and asking for bread, but said he would bring us some. We did not see any other tables with bread but he brought it out in a basket with olive oil so this is obviously something that is only served if asked. We went through one small loaf before the food arrived and asked for some more to have with our dinners. The food arrived and they are very big portions, upon first bite I thought it was almost cold and did not have much taste to it. I added more cheese which helped slightly. My mom and fiancé love mussels and were very excited to try their food but theirs was completely inedible. Both sauces (red and white wine) seemed to be completely diluted with water it was pooled at the bottom of bowl and not coating the pasta at all. Theirs was also barely lukewarm and the worse offense was the mussels seemed to have gone bad and neither would risk getting sick to eat it. Throughout the meal the waiter barely refilled our drinks and after setting down the food he didn't even ask how things were until the bill arrived. My fiancé explained that his food was not good and lacked flavor. My mom also let him know the mussels were unlike anything she has ever tasted and not in a good way. The waiter literally replied with we did not like the food because we filled up on bread, he became very defensive said he did not cook it and we could speak to the manager, and we agreed. Without sending anyone over he brought us he full price bill and we did not feel that we should pay $55 for 2/3 people to get food poisoning. We went to look for the manager and he was very irritated to hear we did not like the food but reluctantly said he would remove one of the dishes. The same waiter then brought back the discounted check,which we were willing to pay but still decided we would like the owner to hear our experience. The waiter came back and said the food is free and we could leave. Again, not acceptable and not what we were looking for. The owner walked over in a whirlwind, he did not introduce himself or apologize but instead his first words were "Do we have a problem here?". We let him know the food was barely lukewarm, flavorless and the mussels tasted like they had gone bad. He then had the nerve to tell us that we are the reason small businesses don't make it. No sir, your expensive, tasteless food and rude customer service is the reason you won't make it. He said he was not charging us for anything and pretty much said since we don't like it to get out. Also said that he has never had anyone complain in their 5 years of business, which is laughable and from the other negative reviews further confirms his delusion. read more

Wow, this place has come a long way since their first month. My first few visits were plagued by soggy pizza, watery sauce, and slow service. I decided to give them another try a few weeks ago when I got a craving for some non-chain pizza, and the difference was immediately obvious. The crust hit the sweet spot between crunchy and soft, making it way easier to appreciate the high quality cheese and sauce they use. This is the closest thing you will find to New York quality pizza in this area! (PS. try the sausage - AMAZING) I've visited them a couple of times since then to try the rest of their menu, and so far I haven't been disappointed yet. The grilled chicken sub was delish, which shouldn't have been a surprise since I could watch the cook grill it to order from the deli area. Definitely a step up from Subway's preservative filled, cost-controlled "chicken". The only pasta I have tried thus far was the tortellini al tino, recommended to me by the owner's son (which was met by approvals from all the other staff within earshot), and it was most definitely as good as advertised. A creamy, cheesy sauce mixed with their homemade pesto? Winner. If you were turned off by the shaky first few weeks, give this place another shot! You won't regret it. read more
