Great quality for a restaurant at an airport hotel. Appreciated the flavor profiles of the dish and seating was adequate. Wine list limited, especially by the glass selections.

I visit Virginia frequently and having a good restaurant in the hotel is a bonus. This hotel restaurant has fabulous food and great staff. If you're busy, just order takeout, and I have not been dissatisfied.

Grilled scallops and cheese meatballs were incredible! Gazpacho shrimp was okay. Service was great and drinks were even better. It IS expensive and you don't get a ton, but quality is extremely fancy and tasty

First off - our server was great! So no complaints there. We are new to the area and are obviously…read moretrying new/non chain restaurants when we can. The restaurant itself is old school Italian with the drippy candles in wine bottles and dated decor. It could definitely use a facelift - and still maintain that classic Italian restaurant vibe. The food was the most disappointing part of the journey. Calamari that was chewy and not at all seasoned - clearly frozen and out of a bag and our meals were no better. I LOVE veal saltimbocca and get it whenever I can. The veal was thick, mozzarella wasn't fresh, and it was drowning in canned mushrooms. Nothing about our meal said fresh. We were leaving the next day for a quick trip so we did not take our leftovers home, but I can honestly say we wouldn't have even if we didn't have a trip planned.

I had this out of the blue chicken marsala craving and did a little research and decided to give…read moreCantina D'Italia a shot. I will start off by saying that I had low expectations given the track record of non-chain Italian restaurants I've tried since living in northern VA of which 85% have been terrible (remember I'm from NJ where Italian food should be the state food). But I said YOLO, crossed my fingers and ordered the marsala via GrubHub. The moral of the story is that I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED by Cantina D'Italia overall because the marsala was pretty tasty, spaghetti cooked almost perfectly, garlic bread with cheese perfectly seasoned and cheesy and they sent an added little unexpected bonus of a pretty side salad with a homemade vinaigrette and fresh Italian bread and butter! Oh and the portion was HUGE! Totally got 2-3 meals out of it. Cantina D'Italia has given me hope ... or I should say at least gave me an Italian restaurant I just might frequent and explore all the other menu options :)

This was a business dinner and when we first entered I was amazed at how big and beautiful it was inside. The bar area was large, oval, and really upscale and nice! They also offer valet here, which is helpful given the area, it's tough to find parking! Our server was great! She offered many good options, offered up very helpful insight, and did a great job keeping an eye on our table. Their wine list is large, with so much to choose from, whether Italian or New World - They have a nice selection of bottles! They even have their own label (not sure who makes it) which I tried and it was decent, but we opted for something else. It was tough to select a salad, an appetizer, and an entrée, as we wanted to be able to eat everything and there was so much to choose from which looked so very appealing on the menu. I started with their arugula salad and it was excellent! Such a simplistic salad like this has to be made with fresh greens and this definitely met that mark! I did ask for a side of balsamic to drizzle a tiny bit in - but it really didn't need it. Dinner consisted of their braised short rib - AMAZING! So very tender and flavorful... YUMMM!!!! A nice balance of flavors, sweet and savory in this dish. Their pasta menu looked so very nice that I wanted a pasta too, so prior to the mains, I split their smoked chicken pasta with a colleague and that dish was crazy - so smokey and flavorful! The pasta was spot-on al dente too! Definitely a rich dish, creamy, flavorful, and very powerful - but tasty! We were all too full for dessert, so a couple of us just chose some Sambuca to sip as we ended the dinner and that was great, served perfectly chilled with the coffee beans. Highly recommend giving them a try, I'll most definitely return!

However, we were disappointed by the strict policy regarding outside wine. We were prepared to pay a corkage fee so we could enjoy a bottle we had brought for the occasion, but the manager explained that it was a firm policy set by the owner and could not be overridden. While we understand the need for policies, a bit more flexibility for special occasions would have gone a long way. Overall, the experience and food were very good, but policies like this can impact repeat business. Parking nearby is somewhat of a walk. Alternatively, valet parking is available at the nearby JW Marriott, which may be more convenient. I think the restaurant may have its own valet parking although I did not see it being offered the day we came.

And the octopus salad was very tasty. The main courses were delicious ! We ordered the lobster ravioli, Cleopatra seafood special, Linguine Vongole. I was full after the meal but couldn't resist eating it! Service: Raul was fantastic! He was professional, warm and friendly. Her humor and thoughtfulness was appreciated during the meal as well. She folded napkins when we used the restroom and joked when we couldn't find the restroom. Our server made amazing recommendations and checked in frequently enough that we didn't feel forgotten or overwhelmed. Food came out piping hot, and silverware was replaced for each course. For the appetizer I would have to say that the octopus was my absolute favorite! The Char on the octopus mixed with the variety of flavors made it robust and so delicious! I highly recommend the octopus over any other appetizer at this point! The zucchini blossoms were perfectly fried and absolutely delicious. They were perfectly stuffed not to overwhelm, but to perfectly embrace the delicate nature of the blossom. For my entrée, I ordered the veal Ragu with peperdelle noodles. It was absolutely delicious and big enough that I had it for lunch. The next day is leftovers. They boxed the meal very nicely to go bag. The sauce was thick and perfectly balanced with a lot of flavor. The noodles were perfectly cooked and weren't sticky or overly chewy. The tiramisu was absolutely delicious! It was so moist and so light that I didn't feel overly stuffed when I left. We actually debated getting dessert because we were so full, but decided to go for it and I'm so happy that we did. During our dinner service someone had a birthday and we brought a dessert. Not only did they encourage everyone to sing, but they also brought out a beautiful dessert that had happy birthday written and some kind of cocoa or coffee powder. You can tell that thoughtfulness was put into every meal and effort was placed to make everything just perfect. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this restaurant. We watch the sunset over small old town Herndon and it felt very quaint. The old school setting of the restaurant mixed with that atmosphere was rather romantic and calming. This is a great place to come for birthdays, anniversaries, or any other special event you want to celebrate.
