Service is friendly, and you are always greeted with a smile. However, this does not mean you can call yourself an Italian restaurant and serve a Mediterranean Salad with vegetable oil instead of olive oil. Good thing I asked for dressing on the side. It was simply oil/vinegar dressing, which is what I like. I did ask to have the salad dressing made with olive oil instead, and the server agreed and had them make the substitution. This place is right in my wheel house. Good food, GREAT service and a wonderful laid back feel. We have only eaten here for dinner. We've ordered many different items on their menu, and have consistently been impressed. In addition they'll change around their menu for you (we like pasta carbonara with cavatelli pasta, and they'll make it). Be ready for GIANT portions (typical for most Italian places), unless you order the lunch portion. We noticed that recently they raised their prices, which is the ONLY reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5. We've have different servers every time we've gone, and always get exceptional service. They deliver pizza as well, but I would recommend going to the store and eating it there. Wow, this place has come a long way since their first month. My first few visits were plagued by soggy pizza, watery sauce, and slow service. I decided to give them another try a few weeks ago when I got a craving for some non-chain pizza, and the difference was immediately obvious. The crust hit the sweet spot between crunchy and soft, making it way easier to appreciate the high quality cheese and sauce they use. This is the closest thing you will find to New York quality pizza in this area! (PS. try the sausage - AMAZING) I've visited them a couple of times since then to try the rest of their menu, and so far I haven't been disappointed yet. The grilled chicken sub was delish, which shouldn't have been a surprise since I could watch the cook grill it to order from the deli area. Definitely a step up from Subway's preservative filled, cost-controlled "chicken". The only pasta I have tried thus far was the tortellini al tino, recommended to me by the owner's son (which was met by approvals from all the other staff within earshot), and it was most definitely as good as advertised. Come for the steak & cheese sub -- the best in northern Virginia made with thin sliced ribeye. I have to try hard not to have one every day. So, I alternate with spaghetti & meat sauce or Lucia's fettuccini Alfredo, also the best around. One of the few things that my wife and I agree on is how terrific the food is. We actually discovered Lucia's for its pizza -- the best we've ever eaten. Their crust, sauce and cheeses are unequaled. This place is convenient in terms of location and delivery. The staff is generally nice. But holy moly the food *could not* be more bland. I swear you'd have to try to make it this bland. The pesto is weird. The marinara is watery and sour. The bread, which is used on everything from their bruschetta to their subs tastes cheap and bland. We keep ordering from here because there are so few delivery options in Potomac Falls, but I'm over it now. Just say "no" to the bland! read more

We went here for subs one afternoon, they are on house made rolls. I prefer hard sub rolls but these were really good. Loaded with meats and cheese, the dressing on the Italian was perfect. The one thing I love about this restaurant is the little area to 'shop'. They carry items you cannot find anywhere around here if you are making an Italian dish at home. The also have a refrigerated section where you can buy their marinara sauce which I love. At $5.99 for a large container it beats buying the old jarred stuff sitting on the shelves of the grocery store. Our daughter and her friends go here regularly for the gelato, I haven't had it yet but if they managed to get her attention with it it must be fantastic. read more

Disappointed with the Spaghetti. You would think a nice Italian family owned restaurant would have a great best spaghetti recipe. Their spaghetti and meatballs is comparable to Chef Boyardee. Way too Salty, Mushy Meatballs, Bad Sauce. This is the closest authentic italian restaurant near us, and I was really hoping for a good traditional Italian meal. The bread is also very generic, they might as well serve Wonder bread. I have been there multiple times, and their Pizza is great, but I only Hope they decide to offer their customers a better Spaghetti Dinner. I doubt the owners would eat it. read more

The food is always very good and consistent. The Pizza is my top 2 as their red sauce is excellent.. Sub sandwiches are also excellent and they do a fine job with interesting and tasty specials. The owners are always on site and their friendly dispositions carry over into maintaining a warm and attentive staff. Seriously Sinatra playing on the stereo coupled with a warm and inviting ambiance makes Lucia's my first choice for dinner or a beer at the bar . Like others, I see negative reviews that bewilder me. My husband and I decided to give this place a try b/c they were new to the neighborhood. The aroma as we walked in was nice it smelled good. My husband ordered the eggplant parmesan and I asked how he liked it and he said OK, but I ordered their Steak and Cheese Sub. For me there was too much salt on it, but also the bread makes the sandwich and I was not impressed with that b/c every bite I took the bread started falling apart. My family and I went to Lucia's this past weekend for dinner and I must say that it was the best experience that I have had there yet. The place was clean and the music at a perfect volume (the in-laws were with us). We got sat right away during their dinner rush and greeted by our server moments later. They had amazing specials! My husband and I split the wedge salad that was out of this world fresh and tasty. The salad consisted of a fresh romaine heart, tomatoes and a topped with a generous amount of bacon and gorgonzola. My in-laws on the other hand were really curious about a certain menu idem called arancini balls. The server highly recommended them. They are little a rice balls with cheese, marinara and meat that is breaded and fried. They were so good that we had to get a second order. For our main courses, I got their baked ziti with meat sauce, again this was really good! My husband got their stuffed shells with shrimp sauce, which I believe was a weekend special. My father in- law got the lasagna. The portion was so big we had to take some of it home. My mother in- law got the tortellini al tino, which I'm going to try next time. The sauce was a creamy pesto sauce. I'm not big on creamy sauces but it was lighter than an alfredo. For desert we all got gelato that they make in house. It was a perfect way to top off dinner. So in my book Lucia's gets an A+ because the wait staff was extremely assertive, the timing was perfect and food was really good!! For those of you who have not been to Lucia's, I highly recommend that you try it.I see a lot of bashing going on in the reviews but just remember that it's just a matter of opinion to someone else. Lucia's is our go to family Italian restaurant. We get desserts from them whenever we have guests over for dinner at our house. Sooo good! The pizza is delicious and I love the calzones. Not only those but the main entrees are great too. I also love that they are great to their staff. I love this place. The assistant manager, I believe his name is Sam, is phenomenal. He always is able to suggest the best dishes, and they always have been great. I really hate to give Lucias a poor review! We have had nothing but excellence for the past two years. I order delivery for home and work(I've turned my co workers onto it too)! Unfortunately tonight will be our last time ordering. The manager Dave apologized for our last delivery experience(bc they had a huge group for homecoming and were overwhelmed). He said that the next time we order it would be on him. So we ordered delivery tonight and whoever answered made me feel like a liar. I just paid $18.65 for spaghetti and meatballs! The spaghetti better be blessed by the pope! A twenty is waiting at the door. Sorry driver but the person manning the phone was totally unprepared and unprofessional. Well, it seems that I only went to the restaurant that was at this location once and did not go back. It looks like Lucia's will end up the same but I'll try it one more time but from the lunch menu. My wife and I stopped there for an early dinner on Sunday. Let's see...friendly people, pretty good service. Good tastes but lousy execution. Generally the place is cold and uninviting both in decor and literally. I actually saw people putting coats back on and that's not a good sign. The vestibule door simply swings and every time some one enters or leaves a chill-wind goes through the entire place. There was a busboy(?) cleaning tables with vigor, an effort I thought better suited to after hours than during dining. It would have been a better move if my table had salt and pepper shakers. {my wife lifted some from a nearby table] My wife had a Linguine de Mer (?) which she said was OK, but the clams were, as she put it, inedible. They were tough and could not even be speared with a fork let alone chewed. She said the mussels and calamari were good and done right so it was confusing the clams were wrong. Apparently they're confused too because no plate or other device was given her for the shells. I gave her my salad plate. Matches up with that, we had to ask for a spoon as well as grated cheese. They have shakers but they're kept centrally (portion control??) She puts her meal at a generous 2/5. I had Pollo a la Parmigiana which I'd rate 1.5/5. The chicken was almost, but not quite overdone but at least hot. That was nicely balanced with the almost but not really warm penne. We were also a bit peeved that at a pretty high price level menu, we got side salads but they were $2.00 extra each. Seems steep for a couple of chopped romaine leaves, 2 olives, and a cherry tomato sliced in two. At this price level for entrees, I would have also expected some type of bread or rolls. Didn't get any, didn't see any mention on the menu and didn't see anyone else get any either. Overall portion sizes were adequate but by no means really generous. I would not order from the entree menu here again, quite disappointed. I might (MIGHT) return and order subs or pizza (in warmer weather) since the reviews at the other locations rave about them read more

I live very close by so decided to give it try. Service as soon as we arrived was lacking. Even though the place was half empty it took several minutes to get seated. After browsing the menu I decided on the spaghetti w/meatballs and my son ordered a pizza. Service again was very so so. Just didn't get that welcome feeling. The spaghetti was very average. Portion was small compared to the high prices. My son said the pizza was just okay. Even though I'm not a huge fan of national chains Roman's Macaroni Grill's spaghetti is a lot better. As for the pizza Pomodoro's pizza is so much better. Gave this place a try but will not be going back. I don't think Lucia's will make it. read more

Stunned. I do not even want to give this place a SINGLE star! We hit the rock bottom night! The worst customer service and entrees. But the worst was the entrees - their sauce taste like they opened a can of tomato sauce and added some pepper. Nasty. The worst part was the eggplant dish. In my 40+ years of eating out...and we eat out a lot...I have sent back dishes ONLY three times. Tonight was that third time!!! The eggplant was so bitter and tough that you could not cut it, chew it, or eat it. My pasta was swimming in water from the eggplant. Grilled, unpeeled, bitter eggplant over pasta is NOT Eggplant Parmesan! We sent it back and they said they were sorry it was not to our liking and offered a sweet treat on the house (GOOD move) but when the bill came the ENTREE WE SENT BACK WAS STILL ON OUR BILL!!!!! And then the waiter was all huffy that we were not going to pay for it. Took forever to get our revised check (we finally had to go to the front and hover to get things moving) and they looked at us like we were the bad guy! We are NOT going back. I have still have a bitter taste in my mouth...literally and figuratively from this! This location in Sterling has been cursed by many failed restaurants...looks like this is another one is going to go belly up. Carmines that was there before was far, far, better. Sorry guys, you stink. If the customer service was better and you actually cared to LISTEN to why the dish was so nasty, then the rating would have been much different. I should not pay for something I could not eat and you treat me like a criminal for wanting it off my tab. If you fix a problem, then I am cool with an error...I am about as easy going at it gets. It is sad that this experience soured the whole meal because it got off to a good start with the good appetizers. I am fair when it is due, but crappy ending to what could have been a good meal. Freakin love Lucias!! I assumed this place was like a Sbarro's every time I drove past it until a bunch of my neighbors started talking about it and telling me how good it is. Finally checked it out and now I do delivery or eat there a few times a week. The pizza is wayyy better (and more real) than Pizza Hut/Papa Johns/etc, the other food is awesome, if you eat there....the bread they give you is awesome, the homemade gelato is awesome, they have specials where it's like 1/2 off lasagna or 1/2 off pizza, and they just treat you like family. The owner is from Italy and these guys just do it right. REALLY well priced too. 2 thumbs up from me all day long! read more

I just tried this new restaurant and was less than impressed. First, The prices were a bit high for the portions. I ordered the eggplant parm and was very disappointed. It was prepared with the skin on, no breading and no layering of ricotta between the eggplant. The eggplant was bitter and the pasta side overcooked. The sauce seemed watery and a bit sweet. I ordered wine and for $8 a glass was given about a 3 to 4 ounce pour. The desserts looked good and the cannoli was very nice, however, a latte was all foam and no espresso. This is the third italian restaurant in this location but they will have to get better to succeed. read more

We absolutely love Lucia's -- our neighborhood go-to place! We all have our favorites... Arancini balls and Salsiccia salads are our go-to, and our 9-year old says they have the best chicken tenders! I tried Lucia's a couple weeks after it opened. My son and I ordered subs. The bread was soggy. The server said for a small up charge we could add onion rings. When the bill came I had been charged $4.99, not a small up charge in my opinion. Kids pasta portion was not enough to satisfy my daughter who never eats all her food. Lucia's at Potomac Falls is simply incredible! The food is always fresh and delicious. I've gotten many different dishes from Lucia's over the past two years, and every single experience has been a positive one. The Tortellini al Tino and the pizza are both particularly delicious - you can tell that the ingredients are high quality. We ordered from Lucia's for the first time last night (12/23/12), and will not be ordering again. When I called for delivery, I was told it was a 90 minute delivery time, so we opted for pick-up. When we got the food home, we were sorely disappointed. The spaghetti and meatballs dish ($14.99) was missing the meatballs. The appetizer order of garlic bread was two skimpy, burnt pieces of a baguette. The pasta con fagioli "soup" was a container of pasta and soft vegetables that were starting to mush together. The side salad was fine. For $28, I certainly expected more than this. We called, and rather than getting an immediate apology and remedy, the owner told me that they were too busy to send out a fresh order of spaghetti and meatballs, but I could get the next order free (yea, I really want to go back and give this place more money). I also told him about the fagioli, and he claimed that is what true fagioli is...when I explained that it is listed under soup, and you have to eat it with a fork, he began arguing that it used to be an entree, but people complained. I told him that there was a picture of the "soup" on their menu, and he claimed that "food doesn't usually look like the picture." So, our order was a flop. We are avid delivery/take-out people, and will not be going back. Even for the replacement of spaghetti and meatballs. read more
