Simply continues to be excellent Italian food in the New York style. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with excellent service.

This restaurant never ceases to amaze me and every time the experience is memorable. This evening ordered the linguine with shrimp and friends at the table had chicken marsala and fettuccine alfredo. Food was hot and so delicious. The staff here is attentive and welcoming with Frank Sinatra playing in the background. Thank you for a delicious meal and look forward to returning soon!

Great service by Sam. Enjoyed the bruschetta and arancini balls as appetizers. Spinach wedge and Caesar's salad were also excellent. Calzone and lasagna were top notch. Lots of space between tables. We were able to bring in our own birthday cake, which they served with coffee. Reasonable prices, easy parking. Lots of tasty leftovers.

This place is a hidden gem! Absolutely delightful food- best pasta I've had in a long time. The bread basket was so good, we ordered one extra. Beautiful and cozy evening. Highly recommended. Only thing that I felt that was the server was rushing us to order- other than that it was the perfect evening.

Lucia's tasted like an authentic Italian Sunday dinner! I had the pasta e fagioli soup that's not pictured but was so good! The broth had so much flavor and the pasta and veggies were perfectly good. Honestly, I had to stop myself from buying and order to take home. The chicken parmigiana was huge and so delicious! The white pizza was probably the best white I've had in my 23 years of life!!! The service was amazing, very tentative, kind, speedy, and comforting and the restaurant overall made you feel welcomed into an Italian household. By far, a super recommendable place!!

The restaurant itself is old school Italian with the drippy candles in wine bottles and dated decor. It could definitely use a facelift - and still maintain that classic Italian restaurant vibe. The food was the most disappointing part of the journey. Calamari that was chewy and not at all seasoned - clearly frozen and out of a bag and our meals were no better. I LOVE veal saltimbocca and get it whenever I can. The veal was thick, mozzarella wasn't fresh, and it was drowning in canned mushrooms. Nothing about our meal said fresh. We were leaving the next day for a quick trip so we did not take our leftovers home, but I can honestly say we wouldn't have even if we didn't have a trip planned.

I had this out of the blue chicken marsala craving and did a little research and decided to give…read moreCantina D'Italia a shot. I will start off by saying that I had low expectations given the track record of non-chain Italian restaurants I've tried since living in northern VA of which 85% have been terrible (remember I'm from NJ where Italian food should be the state food). But I said YOLO, crossed my fingers and ordered the marsala via GrubHub. The moral of the story is that I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED by Cantina D'Italia overall because the marsala was pretty tasty, spaghetti cooked almost perfectly, garlic bread with cheese perfectly seasoned and cheesy and they sent an added little unexpected bonus of a pretty side salad with a homemade vinaigrette and fresh Italian bread and butter! Oh and the portion was HUGE! Totally got 2-3 meals out of it. Cantina D'Italia has given me hope ... or I should say at least gave me an Italian restaurant I just might frequent and explore all the other menu options :)

It reminds me a little bit of Vapianos, esp with the open kitchen concept. We went for mothers day. The lady could not find my reservation. i had to show her. but something is wrong with their system because this happened to a friend of mine back in February as well. They ran out of ranch and N/A prosseco. It is okay bc the food was good. We ordered the fried zucca chips. OVERLY SALTED. did not enjoy. The burrata was delicious. I would get that again. The chicken parmesan was delicious. but it was odd it came with mac and cheese ziti or some kind of cheese sauce. Usually you serve chicken parm with spaghetti and sauce? The Bolognese was delicious and same with the chicken pesto. My sister got a arugula steak salad. The steak was really rare and they didnt even ask how she wanted it cooked. the little gem caesar was good but it had way too much dressing. way too much. the dessert was delicious. butter cake was amazing! Drinks: Cocktails were really good but OVERPRICED. $16-$17 dollars for a non fancy italian spot is wild. Ciao Bella was delicious though. I would probably come here again but it is overpriced.

Her humor and thoughtfulness was appreciated during the meal as well. She folded napkins when we used the restroom and joked when we couldn't find the restroom. Our server made amazing recommendations and checked in frequently enough that we didn't feel forgotten or overwhelmed. Food came out piping hot, and silverware was replaced for each course. For the appetizer I would have to say that the octopus was my absolute favorite! The Char on the octopus mixed with the variety of flavors made it robust and so delicious! I highly recommend the octopus over any other appetizer at this point! The zucchini blossoms were perfectly fried and absolutely delicious. They were perfectly stuffed not to overwhelm, but to perfectly embrace the delicate nature of the blossom. For my entrée, I ordered the veal Ragu with peperdelle noodles. It was absolutely delicious and big enough that I had it for lunch. The next day is leftovers. They boxed the meal very nicely to go bag. The sauce was thick and perfectly balanced with a lot of flavor. The noodles were perfectly cooked and weren't sticky or overly chewy. The tiramisu was absolutely delicious! It was so moist and so light that I didn't feel overly stuffed when I left. We actually debated getting dessert because we were so full, but decided to go for it and I'm so happy that we did. During our dinner service someone had a birthday and we brought a dessert. Not only did they encourage everyone to sing, but they also brought out a beautiful dessert that had happy birthday written and some kind of cocoa or coffee powder. You can tell that thoughtfulness was put into every meal and effort was placed to make everything just perfect. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this restaurant. We watch the sunset over small old town Herndon and it felt very quaint. The old school setting of the restaurant mixed with that atmosphere was rather romantic and calming. This is a great place to come for birthdays, anniversaries, or any other special event you want to celebrate.

Cocktails : Manhattan - top notch My sweet side piece - fun presentation with table side bubbles! Feels a bit like a fall drink. Warm spice. Very tasty and too easy to drink fast lol Apps: We got the baked shrimp and the beef carpaccio. Both outstanding and so flavorful. Just needed some bread to soak up the sauce in the baked shrimp. The lemon rind in the shrimp was a perfect compliment to the sauce and the carpaccio was perfectly seasoned and the thinnest slices I have ever had which made it delicate and delicious. Entrees: We got the sea bass and the short rib bolognese. Blown away by how good both of these were and so very different. The short rib bolognese had a rich but not heavy flavor with fresh pasta and a delightful velvety spiciness - not heat though. The sea bass was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked with a carrot ginger puree that was sublime with the spinach and fish. We loved both of these entrees. Really wanted dessert but sadly not more room which was better for our stomachs and our wallets. It's not a cheap endeavor here but worth the cost for a fabulous meal out and a very cool vibe.
