Considering Lasik? Here's a unique review based on why I chose NOT to conduct it with Dr. Pathak/Lucent Vision (Reading on could save you serious headaches!) I'll make this as short and sweet as possible. After seeing my regular optometrist and asking for a recommendation on a LASIK facility, they sent me to the largest company in OC (the name starts with an N and ends in VISION - oops). The whole process at NVision gave me a dirty feeling, a sales tactic to get me to buy into their top-of-the-line SMILE procedure. I knew I needed a second opinion which I received from another facility telling me to do a CUSTOM Lasik as opposed to the SMILE procedure. Confusing, right? Not knowing where to go next, I checked reviews online and saw Dr. Pathak. I told myself this is who I'm going with. When I went in to see him, he spent time with me personally and advised me on why I would NOT be a good candidate for LASIK. Correct, read that again, I am NOT a good candidate regardless of the other corporate facilities telling me I am. Dr. Pathak's honesty and thorough evaluation resulted in me deciding not to conduct the Lasik procedure due to the complications it would have likely caused due to the specific corneal issues I have. Why wouldn't' the other facilities have told me the same information? Because they wanted the business and the $$$. Dr. Pathak's place/business model is NOT a charade. He TRULY cares about his patients. He had zero reason not to sell me on a procedure, except for his own virtue and moral compass. Had my procedure done with Doc P about 2 years ago now. The Doc's bedside manner and followup is impeccable. Always gave me the possible side effects without any bs. I had some issues with dryness (pretty common) post-op that he helped address multiple times through different treatments. Fantastic doctor, couldn't recommend him more. I chose Lucent vision and Dr. Pathak for my LASIK after consults here and at one of the big LASIK centers optometrists usually recommend, and every single thing about Lucent was better than the other guys: the free consult is done by Dr. Pathak himself rather than a 45-minute phone sales pitch by a rep; the procedure price is so much more reasonable because you're not paying for the kickback your optometrist gets for referring you; and to top it all off, Cyndi at the front desk is so warm and kind versus a general call center--she makes you feel like you've known her for years. Dr. Pathak's office is inviting, all the way down to the variety of books and decor. He uses the latest tech, which made me feel more confident in the procedure itself. The actual LASIK is done at a laser facility in Los Alamitos. Shoutout to Technician Dom who was so incredibly energetic and kind during the whole procedure. He, Dr. Pathak, and a third tech are so communicative during the quick procedure, I felt perfectly safe. They even gave me a blanket and a pillow under my knees for comfort. I followed all of the clear instructions and now a week later, I've forgotten I even had the procedure or wore glasses. Everyone who works at Lucent Vision is so nice and knowledgeable. I can't recommend them highly enough. Both Bianca and the Doctor himself explain things in a way that makes them easy to grasp. Bianca, in particular, has a great sense of humor. The whole atmosphere of the place is professional but also fun. The walls are bright colors. All kinds of books and magazines are in the waiting rooms. The doctor's wife's photos are on the walls as well as some of her collage artwork. And the doctor really knows his stuff. He diagnosed a hereditary issue with my cornea that had not been diagnosed previously. But since it isn't affecting my vision (which is almost 20/20) his conservative, let's do nothing but see you again next year approach is not only appreciated but the best course of action. Found this place through Yelp by reading positive reviews so I thought I should return the favor. My husband and I been talking about doing Lasik procedure. Im so happy we have found this place. First, Cindy is nice lovely person. Office is clean and Covid 19 prepared. Then Dr Pathak came in and introduce himself. Did all the necessary eye check by himself (very hands on) and then explain the procedure and the cost. He has calm voice when he explains stuff, not pushy and lots of patience. Answered all our questions. ( alot of questions believe me) but he doesnt mind and He gives his honest opinion and we appreciate that. You can even ask about other company and he will not discredit them or say bad stuff about them but rather tell you the truth. Overall our experience has been positive. He will tell you what to expect from pre-op upto the end of treatment and they were all correct. Dr. Pathak and his staff are the best!! I had cataract surgery with Dr. Pathak, and my condition was challenging as I had Lasik surgery in the 90's. Dr. Pathak chose lenses for monovision (one eye for near, the other for distance), and did thorough testing to make sure that the result would give me the best vision possible. He also called me several times after the tests to ask me questions about my vision before Lasik and also what it was like when I first started having problems in my 40's. I had both eyes done at once, and two or three days after surgery, the clarity of my near, intermediate and distance vision was unbelievable! I no longer need reading glasses, and I can see the outlines of trees a long city block away. There is also improvement in my depth perception. Went in with higher than normal hopes thanks to Yelp reviews but still had my doubts (not a fan of doctors). However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The office staff and Dr P are AMAZING. Dr P has an outstanding bedside manner. He takes his time, explains everything in detail, and is very patient with a myriad of questions. The beautiful part is he is exceptionally knowledgeable about autoimmune diseases, their medications, and how all of it affects the eyes. I don't know how many Ophthalmologists I have been to that were vaguely knowledgeable on the topic and weren't quite sure how to treat a patient with an autoimmune disease.
